Job Interview Questions: My first job interview at A&W restaurant, Need advice!?

I'm planning to dress in a white/blue striped dress shirt and blue jeans or black dress pants. This is my first job so I'm gonna be kinda nervous but have to stay sharp. What kind of questions would they ask? How should I answer them? I live in Canada by the way, if anyone can help or give any kind of advice it would be really helpful, Thanks.

Job Interviewing Skills: Increase Job Offers With Effective Communication!

Recommended Answer:
Ahhh yes great question:

What are your 3 biggest strengths? For this one I would suggest you say Multi tasking, Calm under pressure, and a hard worker - customers will expect these 3 things from you

What is your biggest weakness? For this one I would suggest you say something bad that's also a strength such as I work too hard (for this is a weakness in that you don't just work you work too hard but it's also a strength because your ready for any challenge. Another response is I am sometimes too enthusiastic but it's a strength because it's contagious

Why should I hire you over someone else? For this one I would suggest you say I'm loyal, easy to manage, honest, and hard working. The reason for this is managers eat this up, they like to be in charge but they also like someone they can manage.

If you were an animal which one would you be? This one is rarely asked but it might be, think of an animal that has the following qualities : Hard worker, brave, resourceful, team player loyal, etc. Some great answers are an ant, an eagle, beaver (don't laugh), dog, or a cheetah

Tell me a time you provided great customer service. Okay they may ask this, even though it's your first job. Try starting with helping others, charities, etc.

What makes you a great team player? For this one I suggest you think back to a club you were once in high school or outside on a baseball team or other sport or an academic team. If you don't have those go for how you help your family.

As for your atire, Dress to Impress. Go all out. NO NOT ARMANI :) but definately BLUE dress shirt, TIE, Black pants, Black shoes. The reason for blue is it's a positive color and says alot about you. RED usually evokes anger. Plus, as a future store manager (which is what goes on in their minds) they don't want someone leading the store who doesn't even take his/her appearance seriously.

IMPORTANT - remain calm, picture this person as just another person, it's like talking to a teacher or a friend. Don't be nervous, no matter how needy you are for cash, just focus on being articulate, clear, and intelligent. Don't say UM or EH phrase complete sentences and you'll rock this.

Oh and don't let anyone tell you good luck, in my opinion the word luck makes you feel like you'll lose so just keep in mind Do a great job and know many people have been in your situation at least 3 times in their lives so just know you are not alone. It's already over just go it my friend. Just do it.

You relax and answer with short answers, calmly, and honestly. The main things are that you are dependable, on time, clean, friendly, and a fast learner.

McD's needs people who will easily pick up using their registers and keeping the food moving as they want a very short service time.

Dress neatly for the interview (NO JEANS) and be on time. You'll be fine. Good Luck.

McD's was my teens first job, which she kept for a year and a half (good for a teen) and we enjoyed the discount food. Kinda miss my half price Southwest Chicken Salads.

    Recommended Answer:
Try to hit it off with the mom. She doesn't want someone she doesn't get along with around her kids and acting as her personal assistant. You sound friendly, so play that up. Professional is good in terms of being reliable, but you also need to show a warmer, more emotional side that will help you connect with the kids. You're being hired to be an assistant mother. Act maternal.

Job Interview Skills: Upgrade Your Performance!

    • Talk about your hobbies, especially ones in which you could include the children. For instance, tell them you enjoy going to the beach or park to play ball, or that you take frequent trips to the library. If your hobbies are limited to watching TV and playing video games, I'd omit that. Good luck!

    • If you have a previous positive work history I would talk about that and what your long term life goals are, show you have ambition

    • Take references with you- preferrably not from family members- that you've worked for.
Dress professionally. You don't need a business suit, but you don't want to show up in jeans and a t shirt either. Be conservative in your dress.
Be upfront and honest in answering questions.
Be positive and if the kids are there greet them. Ask their names and show interest.

Thank You For The Job Interview - Are You Sending a Follow Up Letter?

    • First of all, my suggestion is to make sure you look presentable for your interview. Make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing (dress skirt or suit depending on gender) and be very polite. Show that you care enough about your appearance. Another suggestion is to take out any odd piercings (like eyebrows) depending on what kind of job you are being interviewed for. Jeans and a t-shirt and weird, distracting piercings? Not a good idea. Show the interviewer that you respect them enough and that getting this job is important to you.
Secondly, if you have an angry customer, keep the philosophy that the "customer is always right" (even if you personally think they are crazy!) remain calm. DO NOT raise your voice. Speak normally but slowly, and call the customer Ma'am or Sir.
My friend is the boss where she works and these were the suggestions she gave to me.

also, if you are going to work at a law office for instance, dress up. but if you are going to an animal shelter and plan to be scooping poop? A collared shirt would be best.

    • Well if you have an angry customer what you want to do is listen to them without any interruptions, empathize and apologize for whatever the inconvenience is, and then resolve the problem. The importance of this question is that the hiring manager wants to know if you would be able to handle certain situations.

    • The best answer I can give you for an interview is to always be positive. Employers don't like to hear the word no. It may sound funny, but for example, if you're offered a cup of coffee then say you'd love one. That's even IF you don't drink coffee. Aside from that, just be yourself and be truthful in all of your answers. Many employers can see right through candidates that are being fake. Or if they hire you only to find later on you lied, well let's just say that won't be fun.

    • Just say that you ...you know they are angry and them seeing you get angry would only make matters worse....so you would remain calm...show them that you empathize with them...and try to defuse their anger by being as calm and helpful as you can.

    • be positive every interviewer likes a positive person it lets them no that you'll try ur best to b nice to all the customers

    Don't Blow Your Job Interview

    • They do. Same day, drink gallons of water, add good deal of salt, plenty of multivitamins.

    • Yes most companies will drug test you, and on the spot! They send you to go get the drug test, then you have to turn in the results in a timely fashion, if you don't they know you are hiding something. Most companies now a days also test for cleansers, or anything to hide anything in your system! The best, fastest, and most reliable way to have a clean drug test is to...NOT USE DRUGS!!!

    • Keep looking for a job, because it takes a long time to test clean with weed.
Not only that, but, what happens when they surprise test you, on the job?
      God bless.

        • Is there internet available at your hotel? E-mail it to yourself, then look up any internet cafe's that might be in town. If you are in a fairly urban area, you should easily find one. (I visited Sydney last year, and there was an internet cafe even in the grocery store Woolworth's!). At the most it should cost you a couple dollars to log-on and do a print job, depending on if it's in color or black/white.

        • Basically what your asking is "Is it OK to arrive for an interview unprepared"? What do you think that will say about your expected job performance? In the US there are many internet cafes and office supply stores such as Kinkos that charge a nominal amount to print pages. They even have memory sticks for sale on the premises. I'd suggest you find one if you want the job.

          Recommended Answer:
Wear a dress from there and some sandals. I think you should bring your purse if there's stuff in there you really need. But if not, then don't bring it. Like if your dress doesn't have pockets, make sure it's a nice purse though. Not all big and worn out. The shorts and shirt are fine to wear to work, I've seen that at Gilly Hicks, but since it's an interview go a little more classy, but laid back at the same time. Maybe even wear a skirt with a tee. That will be okay I think.

What To Do And Not To Do In A Job Interview

          • Don't wear jeans and a tee shirt. Wear a skirt with a nice top and heels. It's an interview so you need to make a good impression. If you go in jeans and a tee shirt you look like your going to go watch tv or something not work. Honestly what do you need in your purse? The less distractions you have the better. I would not bring a purse into the interview if I were you.

          • A skirt with a nice top and heels or flats. No flip flops, jeans or tee shirts.

It is always good form to send them a letter or email thanking them for their time in interviewing you. Doing so always makes you look better. If they have not called you in a week, simple call and inquire as to if the position has been filled. If it has, thank them anyways.

In my opinion, up in a bun will look like 'cut and clean' business tpye, though wearing it down is a bit more casual. If you have short hair, you could straighten it and wear it down, which would look formal, but not too formal, and not too casual. If your hair is long, it gives off a more casual vibe if you wear it down....but this is all opiniated! You can do whatever you like best :)

Master the Interview With These Job Interview Tips

              • I believe any assistance you can secure with interview questions is always well received, because the majority people really dont understand what to expect, or indeed what to ask. There is lots of instruction re interview questions on the resource in the box below, they've got lots of info about job hunting too.

Job Interview Questions: If at a job interview the interviewer says if I don't hear from him call him in a week is that good or bad?

He said he doesn't hire people on the spot so was that phrase just to blow me off or am I almost certain to have the job.? He gave me his office number to call him and he said he was going to see if anything matched my criteria. (I asked to only work nights)

The Values That You Should Have in a Job Interview

              Recommended Answer:
Don't ever wait to hear from an employer. Yes, it is true for some employers that if they want you they will call but that only covers some circumstances. If you want the job, call him. If he says "call me back in another week", call him back in another week.

Be persistent. That doesn't mean be bothersome or agitate the guy. Just keep your face and name fresh in his mind so that when there is an opening, he will think of you.

If he said he was going to see if there was an opening that suits your need, he probably meant it. You don' t know what is going on in his restaurant or store or wherever you applied. He may have someone in mind who he wants to fire or maybe someone is going on leave of absence to have a knee replacement surgery and maybe that person works night shift and the manager has to find out when the employee is going on medical leave. There could be all kinds of reasons.

So your job is to call him next week as he requested. Since you don't have control over his actions or thoughts, all you can worry about is your part of the equation.

That's a smart manager who doesn't hire people on the spot and that's good for you also if you get the job because you don't want to work a place that has high turnover. That would mean that it isn't a good place to work or the pay is bad, etc and if the manager hires on the spot, it is only because he is not organized or always losing employees and can't keep up.

If he didn't mean what he said, he wouldn't have given you his office number. Call him but plan what you will say. Be professional and you will be fine. If he doesn't have anything for you, ask if it would be ok to call him back in a few weeks to see if there are opeinings.Believe me, all managers want a few good applications on file so that they can have someone to hire if needed.

Stay positive and be patient and be persistent and be confident and you will be successful! I don't understand why people answer these questions with negative answers. You get what you think you will get. A positive attitude and confidence is what it's all about. Remember that.

Best wishes to you in your NEW job!

              Job Interview Preparation

              • I don't think this means much either way. All it really means is that he didn't think you were OMG BEST PERSON EVAR but he also didn't think UGH SUXXOR GTFO.

What *would* be bad is if you don't hear anything from him in a week, and then when you call, he tells you to call again in another week. The longer that goes on, the less likely it is that he's busy, and the more likely it is that he's one of those people who either hates making decisions (bad) or hates to give bad news (also bad).

              • Right now, it doesn't sound great. Not because he asked for a reminder, but because he said he was going to see if anything matched your criteria- that makes it sound like he would prefer someone who could work days to me.

Trust me, if they want you, THEY will call (usually within 3 days of the interview). I have never been hired on the spot in the professional world- it is usual practice in the business world. Fast food restuarants hire on the spot, not 'real jobs'

              • you are under no obligation by law to inform your employer that you are pregnant till you are ready to do so and no employer can fire you for becoming pregnant. unless the question comes up which it shouldn't you can go through the interview and see if you get the job without the added information. after you get the job.. if you get the job you can tell them that you are pregnant and that your going to need maturity leave when the time comes... and if they do ask you if you are pregnant in the interview you can simply tell them that you wish to not answer that question at that time for it have no impact on your abilities for the job for which you are applying...

              • It depend on how far along you are.....if you are still early in your pregnancy DO NOT tell them!!!! Chances are they wont give you the job.....no matter how harsh that is, it happens to many many many women everyday!!! If your to the point in your pregnancy where your really showing and it only a matter of months before you would be going on Maternity leave, you have no choice but to tell them....and see what they decide they want to do.....but usually it's not the best idea to tell a future employer on an interview that your pregnant ;( Good luck I wish you all the best ;)

              • I would be honest and let them know, that way they will be understanding about you having doctors appointments and such. They can't keep you from having the job because you're pregnant, unless it recquires manual labor that is not acceptable for a pregnant woman to be doing.

              • They can't discriminate if you are pregnant so there is no reason to let them know.

              • Being 8 weeks I wouldn't say anything

the best way to use those questions in preparation for an interview is as follows:

Answer each question as best as you can.
              Write each answer down.
              Memorized your answers.
Practice answering the questions out loud without reading the answer. Have someone listen, and ask for a critique.

Questions asked may be different, but you will be able to adapt answers to most questions. When you do this, you make a great impression, and chances of getting a job are greater.

Something fitting for an office environment, so dress slacks, dress shoes, a nice blouse, tasteful jewelry, clean, neat hair and general clean and tidy appearance

Job Interview Questions: About salary requirements for job interview?

                Common Job Interview Mistakes

                Recommended Answer:
Depends on various factors: 1) Your first salaried job vs any job after that. 2) Normal salaries for your field and in your area. (Do some googling.) 3) Whether you want leverage.

                1) If it's your first "real" salaried job (versus hourly pay), you won't have any frame of reference to compare the amount of money to, so you'll have to rely on other indicators. However, if you've had this kind of job before, you might start by mentioning the amount of your last salary, then indicate your willingness to negotiate up or down around that number. It makes sense to be a lot more picky about your second job, especially if you left your previous job in good standing with no awkward reason for termination.

                2) After you've done a little research about what's normal for your field and your area, you might shoot for something that you think suits your experience and capabilities. Better idea to stay lowish than go too high (unless you are quite sure that they want you no matter what).

                3) All that said, settling for the lowest or nearly the lowest salary offered has some unspoken benefits. From a job-security standpoint, consider this: Pretend you're a boss. You have one employee who is really pretty average, neither great nor sucky, but is receiving an above-average paycheck. You have another employee who shines but is receiving a below-average paycheck. You're doubly irritated with one of them, but you're feeling lucky to have the other. You might even feel a tad bitty guilty about underpaying the second one. Which one do you think you would fire first?

In the end, though, it's really a mix of what works for you, what's commonly done for others like you, and how much they want you. Don't forget to consider things like moving expenses and bonuses in with the salary offer. Also don't forget that certain jobs (like educators in the US) are not open to negotiations at all.

Interview Skills You Need To Succeed In a Job Interview

                • No to both the first questions. It is certainly never a trick question.

Assuming you already have the job offer, it might be a good idea to ask how much they are expecting to pay as a salary. Think hard about yourself, your circumstances and how much income you need to cover your expenses and still have some left over to save. You could tell them how much you are expecting and if they are not willing to meet it, it is a simple decision for you whether or not you want to accept their offer.

They may ask for up to 3, so have some prepared, and try to turn any weaknesses around to a positive in the interview.

Q: Do you enjoy working with the general public?
A: I enjoy working with the general public and love to work with people, even though I know there are times when customers will get upset I find it best to stay calm and try and do what I can to calm angry customers down and resolve their problems in a friendly helpful matter

I think this answer is good because it will let the employer know that you know about what kind of pressure their is dealing with the more rude people and it lets them know that you can handle that and will try and resolve people's problems, even if they aren't that friendly.

Q: What is good customer service to you?
A: I believe good customer service is making the customer the center of my attention and doing every thing in my power to make sure the customer leaves happy and satisfied.

Q: Do you shy away from people?
A: No, I am lively and outgoing

They may ask about specific tasks that are required for the job, It varies from place to place and there are some jobs that require their employees to do a little of everything like working a cash register, cleaning bathrooms, mopping, stocking, etc.

Just let the interviewer know that you have what it takes to do the job and that you are confident about that, You do not want to leave any doubts in there mind that you are not capable of fulfilling the job requirements.

If asked about reliable transportation, it is usually best if you do have reliable transportation, and to let them know that.

There really isn't too much else I can think of, there may be other questions, but these are commonly asked ones, which I have learned about from my own experiences and seeing others on Y!As.

Always stay positive during the interview, appearance is important too, employers will be looking at that, dress professionally, button down shirt and a nice pair of dress pants, keep your hair comb out of your face, no radical hairstyles, keep any tattoos hidden, and take out any unusual piercings, this might not apply to you, IDK, but it is something to keep in mind, because it is important to the employers.

Just keep all your answers professional, maintain a neat appearance, and stay positive and confident and you should do well. Hopefully this answer was informative and helpful, Good Luck :)

I had a job interview (dec. 9th) and was told they would get back to me later in the month around dec. 25th/ish. my standing with this company is I've been an intern for 2 summers. I e-mailed (jan. 7th) in regards to where I stand and haven't gotten a reply. It's doubtful I've been selected but why would they ignore me when only email has been sent and I haven't done anything to be annoying?

if you applied to the school and the lady is from school or from a cleaning company hired by the school, she could be reliable.

if so, she just wish to check out how clean you kept your home, whether you are a reliable person (re theft, etc) based on your home address, etc.

if you are not comfortable, ask to see her at her office or at a coffee shop, saying now that your family has unexpected visitors that afternoon.

Job Interview Questions - Why Do You Want the Job?

                    • Congratulations on the interview.

If the lady will be coming to your house then it's certain to say that this will be an informal visit as well as verify your credentials.

Ensure your house it tidy, you dress presentable, revise your knowledge on which cleaning products clean which materials and have a copy of your resume, bank details and past job references to hand just in case.

                      You'll be fine ;)

                    • Have you checked out the company? This sounds a little bizarre. You never know. She might be 'casing your house'.

I would never let a stranger like this into my home - not these days. You should suggest a neutral territory, like a local coffee shop. Be honest with her. Call her back and tell her that you are uncomfortable meeting people in your home, and would like to meet in a more neutral setting, such as a coffee shop like Starbucks.

If she gets really offended, this should raise a red flag.

                      Hope this helps.

                    • Sounds fishy I would not trust her, tell her your never home and would prefer to meet her at starbucks or whatever other coffee place is near your home. I would never let a stranger into my home. Ask for the business address but its not worth it if you ask me.

I'm a slow worker. Even though I am a slower learner, I gain momentum as I keep on doing a task. For example, if I'm helping my mom cut the vegetables, I start off slow but once i get a sense of how to cut the onions and tomatoes, I speed up. The key is obvious for me to practice.

                      What do you think? Thanks.

What to Do Before, During and After a Job Interview

                      • No, thats not a good answer!
Why do you think you are a slow worker? Analyse that first and work towards your weakness. If actually you are slow, even if you bag yourself a job, you will not grow internally.
If you have any inherited problems i.e. physical etc, stick to your present job and practise that untill your stop being slow in that.
                        All the best.

                      • I think that if you tell an employer that you are a slow worker and a slow learner that you'll never get a job. I think that's obvious.

Job Interview Questions: Had a job interview a week ago, should I follow up?

I had, what I thought, was a fantastic interview a week ago. We were laughing and talking quite a bit. The interview (I ended up doing the first and second, one after the other) lasted an hour and a half. I was told I would receive a call. But I haven't yet.

Yesterday was Civic Holiday so the store was closed. I don't want to seem too pushy and annoying by calling back but I feel out of the loop.

For overnight stocker--tell them you enjoy physical labor, can lift X about of pounds safely, enjoy working as part of a team, etc.

They can't ask about this but I have told potential employers that my availability is flexible as I don't have children and my husband has no preference as to which shift I work.

                      Job Interview Skills

                      Recommended Answer:
You're going to have to tailor your answer to the particular job, but something along the lines of

"I'm considering a career in _____ and want to learn all aspects of the business. The (retail, customer service, food preparation, etc) aspect seems to be the logical place to start."

                      Or:

"I've had such positive experiences here as a customer that I thought it must be a terrific place to work."

                      Or:

"I learned how to (sell, cook, wait tables, accessorize, etc) during (my last job, church, camp, the school play, etc) and I turned out to be good at it, so I'd like to do more of it."

Just about anything that isn't "Because I need money" will be acceptable.

Don't go overboard. This is the sort of thing you really do have to rehearse a bit, so it doesn't sound too cheesy when it actually comes out of your mouth.

                      Job Interview Mistakes To Avoid

                      • I suggest taking the time to come prepared for the job interview. Read and apply this article. I have always landed the jobs I interview for, and I have even had competition between stores on who was going to keep me. Good luck with landing the job. Go in with confidence, bring a resume (even if it's McDonald's or Wal-Mart), and do some research on the company who you are trying to become employed by.
CONFIDENCE: shows you are prepared to try something new and can handle situations with ease.
RESUME: highlights key points in your career that would not be seen on their basic application
RESEARCH (makes a huge difference): know what they expect of their staff & note any key words they use to describe their staff that you exhibit. Make sure to use these words in describing yourself, and telling them you researched the company (when asked why you want to work for them) and felt you matched the criteria shows in the following ways, etc.

good luck on your job hunt!

                      • Try to think of a generic answer that covers this common question. Something that makes you appear 'likeable'.

"I've always been sort of a people person. It's gratifying when i can do something to help someone out."

Hint: They will ask for an example or two. HAVE these answers ready to go! Otherwise it sounds like BS.

I mean, everyone know the real reason your there. You want a paycheck! What they want to know is if your going to be willing to earn that check.

                      • Just say you like whatever they sell like books, clothing, coffee, etc. If you don't have an answer for that question then more than likely you won't get the job because they think you aren't interested in it.

                      • Say you have an interest in books, clothing, etc. (whatever they sell) and you enjoy handling those products and helping customers find the products that they enjoy.

How can I reject them without offending them? I have already called up once to reschedule. :(

                      Recommended Answer:
Just go and get the interview practice. It's a little late to cancel and the more opportunities you get to practice with interviewers that make you uncomfortable, the better. You don't have to take the job if you don't think it's for you. And you might be surprised, you might like her and the job. Sometimes initial impressions are wrong.

Job Interview - 4 Ways to See Yourself as Job Interviewers Do

                      • call them first thing and apologize for the inconvenience and then explain that you dont feel like you are suited for the position.

                      • With an attitude like that you will be looking for work for a long time. It's not important to like the interviewer. It's important to impress her and get the job. Show up for the interview. Prove to yourself you can get the job if you want it. Good luck

                      • I would call them and tell them that you will not be coming to the interview as....my circumstances have changed, but thank you very much. If they ask you why (they are just being nosey which is not professional), just say ... that is really not relevant at this point, but again thank you for your interest in me. Then hang up.

I don't think you should use this as a "practice interview". Because of the fact that you already do not care for this person at all, it would actually turn out to be a very "bad experience" which would not help your self esteem by any stretch of the imagination.

Remember, you are under no obligation to go to the interview, anymore than they could change their mind on you at the last minute also! Go with your guy feelings!
                        Best to you,
                        Andie

                      • Great. By speaking with one person on the phone, you don't think you'll get along. You don't really want a job, do you? Don't even bother to make an excuse, just call and cancel the interview. Thank them nicely for the consideration and be done with it.

                      • No! If they ask how long you plan to stay, don't give a specific answer. Say something like, "I plan on staying for long." or "As long as we both feel I'm doing a good job."

                      • If you only want to work for a few months why not just register with a temp agency? No employer is going to hire you for 6 months for a permanent position.

First of all I write the questions I think they'll say and I write an answer on paper. If you write it down you can use big words and its easier to memorize. Second the most difficult question that they always tend to ask is when they say "So so and so, tell me about yourself" that's when you sell yourself. In one paragraph how can you make yourself awesome. I think about my personality and how I like my job and I'll say some thing like"Well I enjoy working in a fast paced environment, I am organized both at home and at work and I love to challenge myself." So it kinda paints a picture of my personality and strong points. Another tough question is the "what are your strengths and weaknesses" I find it easier to have your weakness compliment your strength. I.E. my strength is I like to set goals and push myself. My weakness is I beat myself up when I don't achieve them. So it doesn't seem too bad. They're gonna ask you questions like "what was a time when you needed to solve a problem" and "what did you like best and least about these jobs" "what is something you did really well" and "what is something you did not so well" brainstorm and think of anything from work, scchool, bor volunteer work. And above all DON'T LIE! Dress nice, smilebcheerfully, and keep your hands in your lap. And make eye contact... if that intimidates you like it does me look between their eyes when nerves. That's all my wisdom... hope it helps. ]ood luck!

There will come a day when they will notice and probably be pissed about you hiding it to begin with, but they cannot fire you for being pregnant once you are an employee.

                          • i dont know how you're going to hide a baby bump at 7 mos. but i dont know anyone who would hire a pregnat women cuz if they hire you, you're only working 2 months then out for 6-8 weeks then they gotta deal with child care issues. but if you could hide it then good luck. oh yeah and be careful cuz lets see if you do get hired, then they find out you lied/hid your pregnancy then they can terminate you. a lot of times in the contract and interviewing process, there is a clause that says if you are knowingly hiding something than that can be grounds for termination which would be perfectly legal. then you would have to prove you didnt know you were 7 mos preggers, which would probably be pretty hard to do.

Those are all valid questions, but they're hoping to hear questions that show you care about the work itself. You could ask why they do something the way they do, how they see themselves in relation to their closest competitors, who are their close competitors. You can also ask what they're hoping for in the person they hire for the job you want, how you compare to the other applicants.

Sometimes they tell you so much there's nothing left to ask. If that happens, say, "You answered all the questions I came with. I wondered about X and you told me ___ about it. I was going to ask Y, and you said___." That shows you had questions in mind AND you paid attention to what they were telling you.

                          Prepare For Your Job Interview

                          • This is such a standard question that you usually get at the end of an interview. It's very important to prepare beforehand. Research the company first, and come up with a list of questions. I would think that "when can I start?" would be a bit too direct; you haven't been offered the job yet. Before you get around to asking about all the things the company has to offer you (salary, benefits, etc.--and I've read that it's a bad idea to discuss benefits until after you've been offered the job, THEN decide if you will accept), come up with some questions that show genuine interest in the company and the position you're applying for. Some standard questions are "Can you tell me a little about how the company is structured?" or "what is a typical day or week like for someone in this position?" This is your opportunity to find out things you want to know, and demonstrate your genuine interest in the company.

                          • Those are good questions and good suggestion listed here by answerers. However, their is nothing wrong in asking about the salary.
