Job Interview Questions: How to not promise anything during a job interview?

Summary:
-I applied to couple of places YESTERDAY.
-One is very important for my career.Others are avarage law firms.
-One of the smaller law firms called me to schedule an interview for TOMORROW
-I'm still waiting for an answer from the big one.

How can I make sure they wait for at least few weeks before my spot in the firm is finalized?

Tips to Ace Your Insurance Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
You can't. You're asking to work for them at their pleasure, not the other way around. You seem to have the whole employer/employee relationship backwards in your head.

A Job Interview Without Cold Sweats

  • Even though you have applied to several places yesterday, there is no guarantee that any of these places will hire you period;;;;;; Granted, getting an interview is great, since most people applying will not even get that.

My husband who retired after 40 years practicing law, wrote a glowing reference letter, talked to several other lawyers on behalf of his secretary and it still took her 3 months to find another job in a law firm. So she had everything in her favor going in vs other candidates.

Most companies today, may have 2 or 3 interviews before they hire anyone. The odds are that in all the places you applied to, there could be up to 100 other people who applied also and would be in the mix of being considered.

Your best option is to take the 1st one that offers you a job. Then after you are hired, go after the one that you really want, which might take 6 months or a year before another opportunity comes up.

You are assuming that all the places you applied for will offer you a job, which is doubtful. The competition is fierce out there and this is an employer's market.

    good luck

  • You can't. You're looking for employment, you can't tell an employer to wait for a decision as there are dozens of other people who have probably been considered for the position already. If you get the offer, take it! Do not count on this other law firm until you have received an offer.

Job Interview Tips You Can Use to Ace the Interview and Land the Job

The interviewer will have a range of sample job interview questions to ask you, some will be in relation to the job but others will be more on you. Interview questions are intended to find out more about you as an individual and a professional within your field; what makes you tick and what kind of person you are generally. Most importantly, do bear in mind that interviewers actually want you to succeed and there are no trick questions intended to unsettle you.

If you were an employer you will naturally want to know things about the candidate that will benefit your company. Is the candidate motivational, a leader, strong willed, competitive, assertive, a forward thinker or a lateral thinker; and so on.As previously mentioned, many employers will draw information from psychometric tests and some of their questions will come from your report, that is if they conducted a test with you. See the section on having your own psychometric test prior to an interview. This section highlights the importance of knowing your own profile report before interviews for better performance and enhanced CVs (resumes).During job interviews, you should be prepared to answer any type of question from the interviewer and also expect the unexpected question. As always, one of the most important elements of a successful job interview is to answer questions positively in a calm and relaxed manner. Try to turn any question to your advantage by aligning it positively to your strengths and aims.

Although the interviewer is keen to hear positive answers from you, your body language will either affirm or contradict your answers, so be sure to read the importance of good body language during a job interview.

What type of person are you ?
How would your best friend describe you ?

Why do you want to leave your current employment ?
