Job Interview Questions: What do i wear to my job interview?

I got an interview from The Source, its an electronics retailer.
I was wondering if i have to wear a suit? lol. i have no idea this is my first interview.

If i dont have to wear a suit, would a collar shirt and jeans be alright? i really have no idea what to wear : /

Recommended Answer:
Suits are the best for a job interview, but if you don't have one, a button down shirt with a collar and dress slacks will do. A tie would also be nice. Never wear jeans to an interview. Be sure your hair is cut and combed properly. Also make sure your dress shoes match (no tennis shoes or brown shoes with black pants, etc.).

Job Interview Questions: I have an interactive job interview at a daycare?

Put this in this section because I figured parents would have the best ideas about how to entertain kids. I'm applying to be a teacher assistant at a daycare. During the phone call they said it would be an interactive interview where they put me in the room with the kids and see how I work with them.
Does anybody have any tips on how to really stand out and win the kids over?

How to Answer Interview Questions - The Number One Job Interview Tip

Recommended Answer:
I work in a daycare as a head teacher. I have been on my own interactive interviews and have been in my classroom while potential employees have done theirs. There is more to the interview than knowing how to entertain the kids.

While you are in the classroom you need to remember a few things. You are not just winning the children over, but also the director of the school, and the teacher in the classroom. After a potential employee has been in the classroom, the director always asks me how it went, what I noticed, and what made one person stand out over another.

There are a few things I look for when someone is in my classroom.

1) Is the person active with the children? Does she come in a play with them, talk to them, etc? Is she comfortable with the children and the classroom setting? The last thing you want to do is just come in a stare at the kids, or wait around nervously for them to interact with you. You may be nervous(everyone is, and we expect it), but try and be as natural as possible. Talk to them about what they are playing with, get down on the floor with them, etc.

One of the most difficult times to interview is during snack time or transition times. If you are in the classroom at snack you still need to talk to the children. You can ask them about what they are eating, what they did over the weekend, what they are planning to do today, etc. If they are too young to talk, you can still talk to them about their snack, if it is yummy, etc. If they are transitioning, you can help them clean up, talk to them about how well they are cleaning, etc.

You can also offer some help if it seems necessary. If the teacher is getting snack ready, etc you can offer a hand, or ask if there is anything you can do.

2) Does the person seem comfortable being silly? Singing? etc? If we are in the middle of circle time I look for the person to sing with us. I typically choose well known songs that day so the interviewer can participate. When they sing I look for someone that is fun, and not singing quietly with their heads down. If we are all dancing, is this person participating?

3) Are the children comfortable with this person? Do they play with her, or shy away? Your demeanor can really have an impact on this. Is this person warm, playful, and loving? Does she seem to enjoy being in the classroom?

4) Can I work with her? If the head teacher is talking to you, it is in your favor to give a bit of information and try and forge a good impression. The head teacher often has a very big impact on the decision to hire in most cases. The director is often looking through the window or on a camera, but the head teacher is seeing the actual interaction between you and the children.

I would suggest that you keep relaxed, and remember that most places are looking for someone who loves children, can get silly, dance and sing, etc. You only need to be slightly more outgoing, interactive, etc than the other people. When the director asks the head teacher how it went you want her to say "She really seemed comfortable with the kids. She sang with them, danced. The other person was ok, but just not as good."

Also, remember that you are almost there. Most daycares only call back 2-4 perspective employees out of all that apply. The daycare I work at only calls back 2.

Preparation is the Best Job Interview Tip

  • Smile! Kids will smile back even if they don't know what you are smiling about :D I used to be in child development class where we took care of them. Be patient and even if they aren't the kindest to you, still maintain your cool and be sweet with them. Girls and boys are typically brought up to the stereotypical likes and dislikes. Speak to the girls about fairies and princesses and how you like the way their hair looks today and ask if their mommy made it for them. Boys might rather play with little cars and tend to dislike pink and like blue. They may like playing ninja or soldiers. Also pointing out the color, don't wear pink because then boys tend to completely disregard you and label you one of the girls. Keep it neutral and use some colors other than pink or blue. Always act happy and be friendly and they will love you c: Make sure to pay attention to the kids but if your interviewer asks something answer quickly as to show that youll be fun with the kids but still understand the discipline and authority. Oh! and just in case they may try to trick you! They may make one of the children pretend they fell down or hurt themselves to check how you react. be compassionate or ask if u can help. Good luck and I hope you get the job!!

Help, I Have to Prepare For My Job Interview!

    Recommended Answer:
The first interview was to meet the manager who interviewed you, and to find out about the position advertised.
It is only when they are seriously considering you, would they invite you back for a second interview.
Take this next interview very seriously. Do not joke or use profanity.
Dress as if you were going to have a family portrait taken and act professional at all times.
Take any identification you think they may require such as medical insurance, etc.
During the interview, there may be another manager present or even the owner.
Don't feel that you are repeating yourself from your previous interview, as the other management present will want to know more about you.
Speak about what your goals for education and career are. They will want to hear of your future plans regardless of whether it is in foodservice or not.
Be honest and polite, and most of all, be yourself and you should do just fine.

Job Interview Questions: At a job interview, can you ask how many other applicants they are interviewing?

Job Interview Questions: Ho do you write a thank you letter after the job interview the one that's email?

I mean when you type the thank you letter and email it after the job interview. Before you email it, what do you put in the subject line. Last time I put Follow Up: My name. I want to know if there's a certain way that I'm suppose to put in the subject line. Like for example maybe just my name or Thank You Letter, or Follow Up? So what am I suppose to type in the subject line?

Job Interviews: Effective Question And Answer Strategies

    Recommended Answer:
There are several ways you can handle this. First things first though, if you have a silly email address, consider setting up an email account with a more professional looking address. We have had them come in here that were something like bigbooty69@whatever.com. In the subject line you can put your name or "Interview 4/15/2009", or the position you are applying for "Admin Position". In the body make is short, respectful and to the point. Dear Mr. Blah, thank you so much for taking the time out to interview me yesterday. I really enjoyed learning more about "**company name***" . You can insert a small blurb here about something you learned about the company if appropriate. I really feel like I would be a great fit for the position of **job title** and hope to be hearing from you soon. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information. Sincerely, Your Name

    Good Luck!

How to Job Interview in Today's Job Market

    • In the subject line I would write
Interview followed by the interview date.
Your name appears in your email address, if it doesn't then write the following in the subject line

Leslie Taylor, Interview 17th November 2009. (Obviously I have invented the name so put yours there.

    • You either go "Just a thank you note" or "thank you"

Job Interview Questions: What to expect on my first job interview?

I have an Interview at Target
this will be my FIRST job interview!

    i'm a nervous wreck
I want to be prepared with what they might ask?

    I need advice, Help!

Thank You For The Job Interview - Are You Sending a Follow Up Letter?

    Recommended Answer:
I work at Target. Dress nice, like if you were going to church. Having a resume is nice, but not needed. I didn't have one.
They want to know how you can make target a better place, and sometimes they ask if you have experience doing certain situations.
Example, have you and other been assigned a task where you have to have it completed by a certain time? Have you deal with customers in a retail environment? You comfortable communicating with customers?
I was nervous when I went for my interview but it was not bad, only lasted an hour.
One thing you need to be prepared for is, you do 2 interviews back to back.
One manager interviews you for like 15mins, then you wait a bit then another manager interviews you for 15mins. If they like you, right after the second interview they will give you a conditional job offer saying how much you will make. All you have to do after is take a drug test within 24 hours from the interview ending time. Drug test is easy, you pee in a cup and within a couple of days if you are clean, they call you for orientation.
Orientation is easy, you and some others go in a room and watch videos for like 3 hours about policies, certain situations, rules, and how to do your job. Then they give you paperwork to fill out then you get a tour of the store. You also get paid for the orientation, which lasts about 4 hours.
During your orientation you will get your training schedule for the next 2 weeks. Your hours will be limited, but after 2 weeks you will be getting a normal schedule with normal hours and carrying on with your job. Example, for my first 2 weeks I only worked 18 hours, which got me a $130 paycheck. Then after I started doing 20 hours a week and I get around $270 every 2 weeks. Around holiday time, expect to work 25+ hours as they need the help, so you will get a nice fat paycheck.
Enjoy, target is a great place to work at. I am a cashier and I love it.

Oil Rigs Employment - Some Facts About the Oil Rig Job Interview

    • Relax... deep breath now...

Interviews are not as bad as you may be thinking. Don't forget you are not just going to see if a company wants YOU, you are going to see if the company is good enough for YOU! Try and look at it that way and it makes things slightly easier.

Just turn up a few minutes early, dress smartly, be clean and tidy and have a smile on you at all times!

Try and find out a little bit about the company before you go and try and have a couple of questions ready for them. I don't mean like 'what holiday do i get' or anything like that, ask them about the company, e.g. how long have they been going, are they looking to progress into any other service or product etc... Just appear keen. Thank them at the end of the interview for their time in considering you for the post.

Just give honest and simple answers to their questions, they WILL know and expect you to be nervous so this will not go against you. Most of all, best of luck ;-)

    • I work for Target. You need to dress nice and speak up. This is a very friendly company so show that side of yourself. Use your manners yes ma'am no sir. Don't forget that in an interview you are selling yourself. They did not ask any hard questions just things like "Why should we hire you?" and "How will you make Target a better place for other team members and guests?" (team members are employees and guests are shoppers) Good luck!!

    • You need to dress appropriately, preferably in a skirt with a nice top, no tatoos/piercings, little jewelry or perfume............the questions will pertain to the position you have applied for and will be like: have you worked in customer service before; how would you handle a certain situation, etc, etc. Be sure to send the interviewer a "thank you for the interview" email the next day

    • have your resume with you with extra copys dress nice frist inpressins are every thing with in the first 20 to 30 sec there more likely to hire or not hire you. most of the time the will ask like: what are weekness and how you over come them. what do you know about our compney ( speend a few hours the day befor the interview and a few hour before you go for the job so you know the compny. show them that you really whant that job that is if the ask stuff like that). be there about 10 to 5 mins before you need to be there if you are nevice then take 10 to 15 debreathes to help you com down it only natrual for some one to be nervice for some thing like this. just answer the question to the best you can and dont make some thing up or it will hurt you in the end.

Job Interview Questions: What are good sites to go to for helpful tips on how to get through a job interview successfully?

What are good sites to go to for helpful tips on how to get through a job interview successfully?

Job Interview Skills - What You Must Have to Land the Job

    Recommended Answer:
How about monster.com or any of those job website where your post your resume?

I interview people and here is some advice that should seem obvious but to many job seekers it is not.

Make sure you are properly presentable. If you are interviewing for a suit and tie type job then look the part. Make sure from top to bottom it is correct. If you can't handle the basics of presenting yourself then do you think I'll be impressed with your enthusiasm, education and experience? Those things don't shine as well if your fingernails are dirty or need to be clipped and your shoes need a shine. Trust me, how you look matters.

Job Interview Advice - Dos and Don'ts For Your Big Day

    • Anyway, what you need is to do is some hard work. I would look on Monster.com, craigs list, etc for a job.

      1) Look at the job information:
Cover Letter: Often jobs will list "personality" traits they are looking for. These are called buzz words. When you write your cover letter, use some of these buzz words.

      EXAMPLES
They want Somebody how has lots of energy, you put Energetic.
They want somebody creative, you put innovative.

      The list can go on.

      2) On the website. while doing your cover letter, go to the website of the people who are hiring. Find out who to address the letter to, and get the address. Also print off a copy of the application.RESUME
Instead of just applying for the job with the same tired old resume format as everyone else, I would do a paper copy. Print it on QUALITY resume paper (that can be found at Office Max). Also print the cover letter on that paper. Also, I suggest getting a box of matching "resume" folders. They will look sharp and give you a nice touch.

      Other Stuff:
Include in the "resume" folder your resume, cover letter, full application. Also, some jobs require transcripts and other proof to be hired. I would send a copy of those items as well.

This will give you an advantage over the other aplicants
