Job Interview Guide: How to Answer Job Interviews and Land on Your Dream Job

  • The best thing to do is first is send a thank-you note to the interviewer. Then you always follow up a few days afterward. If it's been two weeks, call them and find out the status. If they have already filled the position, then you'll know to look elsewhere. But it is always best to not put all your hopes into one job. When I was job hunting, I would apply to ten or more jobs at a time then about four days after applying, I would call and make sure they got my application. Doing this actually got me an interview. I landed the job within one week of applying.

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview Follow-Up?

I had a job interview on Monday and I think it went really well. After about an hour and a half the hiring manager then took me out to the floor and introduced me to some people with whom I'd be working with. The hiring manager then took me to his desk and was showing me the what my duties would be in detail and was also showing me internal accounting systems which I thought was a good thing since this was a management position at a bank and usually I wouldn't think you would bring an interviewee onto the floor and show them your systems in detail. After this the manager told me that I was the only individual being considered for the position. He advised me he was going to be talking to his boss that day regarding the interview and they would be in contact with me. After I left I immediately sent a thank you e-mail to this individual. I was really thinking I would have heard something back by now, I do have the phone number for this individual and I was wondering how long should I wait or if I should call to follow-up. This position is located in a different state and I would need a little time to get my life together as they wanted someone to start in this position by Sept 26. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

How To Ace Your Next Job Interview - What They Don't Tell You

Recommended Answer:
I would advise contacting them as soon as possible. Don't be overbearing, but they will understand that you need to know what the status is on their decision.

Also, on a side note, your thank-you email was a good follow up, but I would recommend next time you leave an interview, follow up with a hand written letter. Those are taken much more serious and personal when they see that you took the time to sit and write them a personal card. Just a suggestion.

Hope it works out for you!

Myths About The HR Professional As The Candidate In The Job Interview

  • You have no idea how many hoops some managers have to jump through to make an offer. HR, Payroll, legal, the VP of this, the VP of that, and the secretary that really knows what is going on. It varies from company to company, but the process could be anything from an offer at the interview (it happened to me) to weeks.

Give them at least a full week (COB next Monday) before calling them back and asking them where they are in the process,

Job Interview Questions: How do you impress an employer if you feel your job interview didn't go well?

I had a job interview today but I have a good and bad feeling about it. I feel it didn't go well because I was nervous and there 2 other people in the room and that threw me off. I thought typically it's only the employer who interviews not a second person. I have no idea who the other person was.

Some Questions Astute Interviewers May Ask During the Job Interview Process

Recommended Answer:
There's not a lot you can do after the fact. You might have made a better impression than you thought. Most people are a little nervous at employment interviews, and it doesn't affect their work performance that much.

But consider that every employment interview you do helps you, it gives you one more experience, so you won't be so nervous next time. I used to work temporary, so I've been through more employment interviews than anyone I know, and I actually look forward to them.

You have to go into an interview with confidence. You have to believe that you are just the person they need, almost that you are doing them a favor by coming to the interview. (Of course you don't act like this, but you're thinking it all the time). You smile, make eye contact when someone's talking to you, and every question they ask, you act like you're glad they asked that question.

And you have to expect the unexpected. LOTS of interviews have a 'committee', or at least someone from various departments who just 'sit in' and listen to the interview. You want to show them you're not afraid of being interviewed, that you're ready for anything they can throw at you. Many jobs, maybe -most- jobs, you will run into situations you aren't prepared for and you'll have to 'think on your feet'. If you respond well to the unexpected in the interview, it makes a really good impression.

Job Interview Skills - How to Deal With Unusual, Irrelevant Or Stupid Questions at Interviews

  • Nothing you can do but learn from the experience. Don't stress or call them. I've blown interviews too. I've actually been offered jobs where I thought I did a poor job representing myself.
