Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview at old navy?

This is my 5th interview and still no job, I'm 17 and this interview is next wed. this would be the perfect job because I plan on going to college for fashion merchandising. Does anyone have any tips on getting this job?

Get Hired Fast & Earn More - Top 5 Job Interview Tips

Recommended Answer:
Dress like the an Old Navy employee -- casual but neat: khaki pants, a nice top, closed toe shoes. Don't wear flip-flops or sandals. Don't wear sleeveless/strapless/tank tops, shorts or sweatpants.

Go prepared to answer the standard retail interview questions: Why did you choose retail? Why did you apply at this company, when there are so many other brands? What previous work experience do you have? What did you do at your previous job? Why did you quit? How do you feel about asking customers to apply for a Old Navy brand credit card? What retail skills do you have? Can you work the cash register? Would you describe yourself as a team player? Give me an example of when you worked as part of a team. What do you expect from Old Navy as an employer? What is an ideal manager? What are you looking for in terms of pay? What hours can you work? Do you have any school conflicts? When can you start?

I would NOT mention that this is your 5th interview, or that you have applied to other stores. I would emphasize that you are interested in a career in retail, like (and wear) the Old Navy product, the store environment, how the product is marketed/sold, working with other people, etc. I would also ask for the lowest hourly pay rate Old Navy offers; get your foot in the door. Try to come across as friendly and open, but also knowledgeable and professional. Have you checked out the Old Navy website under "Careers" for more information? Do your research before you go; asking for help on Yahoo Answers is a good start.

Top 6 Tips For Giving a Great Job Interview and Getting a Job

  • Sit up straight

    Maintain eye contact

Talk with confidence and always have a question for the interviewer at the end since it shows interest

Dont fiddle with hair or fingers it shows nervousness

talk like you are interested in the job. Many people talk bored like they are forced or not interested.

Do NOT look at the clock while at a interview it creates an impression of having better things to do

Answer questions with examples of past experiences and explain how they connect to the question at hand.

Avoid using filler words like "hmmm" and instead say nothing while you think and then respond.

  • Well here's the problem...you're 17, I have no clue how you got the interview because Old Navy, like most retail stores, does not hire people under 18. You can apply at Abercrombie or Hollister, they're two of the very few retail stores that hire constantly and hire people under 18.

Job Interview Questions: What should i say on a job interview?

I recently had an interview for a summer job working at a camp. I got a call yesterday and got the good news that i they wanted me for a second interview! now, i thought the first one went well, so does anyone have any tips to help me get the job? thanks =]

Job Interviews - What You Don't Do Can HELP You!

Recommended Answer:
I dunno what they asked you in the first interview, but since you say its a camp, I suggest you show enthusiasm in giving people a good time, like with physical activities, but always be on the safety line, suggesting adventures are not good for everyone. Appear to be a good decision maker, be precise and firm in your answer. I guess these are important qualities for being in a camp.

Essentials of Job Interviewing

  • You can say...

"Hello, how are you, won't you tell me your name?"

  • 1) Be on time
    2) Get a good night's sleep (don't go in hungover)
    3) Dress decently

Then tell them how excited you are - you know you will do a great job.

    good luck

  • i think you have to focus on what you think a camp worker should represent.

a few things come to mind:
    1) fun and lively (but not someone who is stupid and mucks around too much)
    2) willing to get stuck in with any physical activity
    3) being a sensible person as safety is a huge deal - these are kids you're dealing with.
    4) passion for the job - giving kids a great holiday.
    5) someone who is reliable - need to be on time for the job.
    6) someone who looks fresh and clean - no one wants a grotty employee.

hope you get the job :)

Job Interview Questions: Any tips for my first job interview?

I'm 16 years old and I'm getting my first job interview at Walmart. Now I'm pretty nervous, I'm not sure how I can go about preparing, or what I should know, etc. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone who's done a Walmart interview.

I don't want to screw up this interview, it's the only one I've gotten after handing in about 20 resumes -.-

Job Interviewing - Do's and Dont's - Before, During and After an Interview

Recommended Answer:
Dress nicely, most likely in a suit, make eye contact with the interviewer but not creepy eye contact (its ok to blink). Don't wear colon, sit up straight, don't play with your hands, be relaxed, turn your cell phone off, have a copy of a resume/portfolio with you.Try to mimic how the interviewer is sitting/acting during the interview but don't make it seem your mocking their actions

When they ask you a questions keep it focused on the job/career don't rant on about your personal life. Make sure you shake your hand when meeting them and introducing yourself and shake hands when leaving, also, at that time ask for a business card or way to contact them to follow up.

Their are many good videos on youtube that can help you prepare for your interview, I'd suggest watching a few before going in.

Make sure not to show up late, show up 10 to 15 minutes before hand.

Good luck on your interview!

Job Interview Skills - 9 Things You Should Never Do in an Interview

  • Here's the tips that I share you with your first job interview:

    1. Try to stay cool, calm, and collected. Staying as calm as possible, will help you focus on the interviewer.

    2. If you feel flustered, pause and take a few deep breathes to gather your thoughts.

    3. Be confident in your skills and abilities when you are talking to the interviewer. Remember this is a first job and you aren't expected to have a lot of experience.

    4. Try to incorporate what you know about the company looking to hire you.

    5. Be honest. If you have sports or other activities that may conflict with your work schedule, tell the interviewer.

    6. Make eye contact and avoid distractions.

    7. Listen and take notes. Have a question ready to ask at the end of the interview.

    8. At the end of the interview thank the interviewer for taking the time to interview you.

  • I worked at a place similar to Walmart, We don't have Walmart in my country.

I went to the interview in jeans and a formal collared shirt. The interview went normal and she just asked me a few questions such as "What days do you want to work? How will you be a benefit to the business ect" It was all easy and i didn't need to prepare at all.

    Tips:
    1) Keep cool don't go waffling about boring crap.
    2) make sure you smell good, and look good in general.
    3) Have a smile and make sure you look friendly.good luck!

Job Interview Questions: Am I overdressed for my job interview?

I have a job interview for an accounting position at a small, moms-and-pops type of retail store that sells business suits. Because it's an administrative/accounting position, I was planning on wearing my usual dress suit, blazer & buttoned up blouse, but is this too much for a small retail store?

The 11 Cardinal Mistakes of Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
I would say for this profession yes, you should wear a suit. Accounting is dealing with a company's money right? So you want to come across as professional as possible and give the impression that you are serious about your job. A general rule of thumb is to never dress less than "business casual" for any job. Again for jobs like sales, marketing, accounting and executive roles, always wear a suit.

Self-Speaking Lies About Job Interviews

  • I would always wear a suit to an interview. My boss even remarked on it later saying he knew I was ready to get to work as soon as he saw me, and it weighed heavily on his decision to hire me. First impressions are everything especially in job interviews.

  • You should try a gownless evening strap.

  • u can never be too dressed up

  • No its not. It lets them know you are a proffesional and you carry yourself well no matter where you are.

  • Definitely not, dress to impress!

  • pleather thong, vinal chaps and pasties! how i got my job damnit

  • you have to wear some what special dresses like suit, etc.
then only you might be special one.

  • Rule of thumb: When in doubt, it is always better to overdress than under dress. Go for the suit.

Job Interview Questions: Any suggestions on what I should wear to my job interview tomorrow?

I have a job interview scheduled tomorrow morning at my local Kohl's department store. It's been extremely hot lately here in Los Angeles, today was over 100 degrees and I don't want to show up at a job interview feeling too casual, but I also dont want to overdress and feel stuffy because of the heat. What do you recommend I do?

Some Questions Astute Interviewers May Ask During the Job Interview Process

Recommended Answer:
i would say either a pencil skirt with a light summery shirt, not to dressy. If you think that the pencil skirt will be to tight and make you hot, then i would go with white capri shorts, with a blue, pink or yellow short-sleeved summer top. Wear you hair up in a bun, kind of sloppy and to the side, with a cute head band to match the shirt. You can wear brown sandals, or high heels, try to avoid flip-flops. Way to casual.

Job Interview Attire - How to Choose the Right Career Clothes For Your Job Interview

    • A nice collar shirt and pleated pants would be fine. Don't show up wearing a suit to a fast food interview, you look like a tool because its fast food and nobody really takes it seriously.

    • formal dress is good for interview don't try to wear funky dress for an interview!!

    • Business casual should do the trick. Some khakis, a polo and semi-formal shoes will work just fine

    • School Shirt and Trouser with Black Shoes and wear a different tie.
      That all you need.

    • Wear a suit :) means your ready for the Job :)

    • Clean underwear and no Axe cologne...

    • i would were a sporty polo
      Act nice

    • Wear something formal. Prepare, prepare, prepare for all and every question. It is is just like going for an exam. Make sure you take an extra copy of your CV with you.

      The Interview:
•Dress for the interview and the job. Don't overdress or look too informal.
•Nice firm handshake, before the interview if your hands are sweaty, wash them off if you can
•Have pen, notepad, extra copy of your resume (business cards if you normally use them) available where you can find them fast without fumbling through pockets or purse.
•Always go to the interview alone. Arrange for baby sitters, transportation, and other pitfalls ahead of time so that you can be on time and relaxed in the interview.
•Find common ground with the employer. Pictures, books, plants, etc., in the employer's office can be conversation interns leading into the interview (this can make both of you more comfortable).
•Express your interest in the job and the company using information you gathered to prepare for the interview.
•Let the interviewer direct the conversation.
•Answer questions in a clear and positive manner. Show how your experience and training will make you productive in the shortest time with minimal supervision.
      Note:
•Speak positively of former employers and co-workers no matter why you left even if you were fired from your last job.
•Let the employer lead into conversations about benefits. Your focus on these items can be a "turn off." But, don't be afraid to ask questions about things that you really need to know.
•When discussing salary, be flexible-avoid naming a specific salary. If you're too high, you risk not getting the job. If you're too low, you undersell yourself. Answer questions on salary requirements with responses such as, "I'm interested in the job as a career opportunity so I'm negotiable on the starting salary". Negotiate, but don't sell yourself short.
      Closing the Interview:
•If the employer does not offer you a job or say when you will hear about it, ask when you may call to find out about the decision.
•If the employer asks you to call or return for another interview, make a written note of the time, date and place.
•Thank the employer for the interview and reaffirm your interest and qualifications for the job.
