Job Interview Questions: If you go for a job interview and your not hired..?

If you go to a job interview and your not hired, are they supposed to let you know if you don't get the job or do you have to call them? One more question, how is the person interviewing you should be dressed if it's "casual friday" Mine was in a Dave Matthews T-Shirt and ripped jeans..for a Law Office!! Is that proper??

How to Ace Your Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
No, they do not have to tell you if you got the job or not. If they want you they will contact you. It doesnt hurt to call the company back in say 2 weeks if you havent heard anything. They may say sorry its been filled or maybe, they havent made any decisions yet.

The person doing the interviewing can wear anything they want, you on the other hand should dress for success.

Tips to Ace Your Insurance Job Interview

  • 1st off i think they don't HAVE to let you know but it is polite to do so. also the dress code depends on the office i'm sure being casual friday or not if they had to go to court or meet a client that day they would be a little better dressed but around the office its up to office management if that's TOO casual or not.

  • Some companies let you know by phone, letter or email. Many don't.

Ripped jeans and a t-shirt sound overly casual for casual Friday, especially for someone who will be interviewing someone or having other contact with someone from outside the firm.

  • proper or not he has a job and you do not. Most companies will give you a courtesy call letting you know they hired someone else

  • try this site (i've used it): topfin3.notlong.com/2AAexXs

  • My experience has been this: During the interview, towards the end, they will normally say we will make a decision in (X) days. If they don't mention that, I try to ask, so that I can know when to expect a call. It also lets me know that if I didn't get a call by around that time, that I didn't get to job which keep me from having to make the embarrassing phone call in which they tell me I was not chosen. I also try to ask them to let me know either way, and make it seem as though I am expecting other offers form other companies. If you seem like a hot commodity, they will wonder why you are so hot, and potentially become more eager to hire you so that they can find out. I also make sure to mail a thank you letter as soon as I am home. I mail it out that day and reitterate my interest in the position, I make it very pointed towards what we talked about in the interview, and highlight not me specifically but how my skills can apply to specific things mentioned in the interview(i.e. My powerpoint skills will allow me to create new and professional sales presentations to help your sales team close more sales).
Being that the interview is already over with, and you can't ask them in person, I would say make the call. When you call, make sure to speak directly with the person who did the interview. I would not leave a VM, becasue you might not get a callback and you will still be wondering. Plus if you do leave a VM, then its business etiquette to wait a day or more before trying again. So that means more waiting for you. If you try to reach him for three days in a row and can not catch him, then leave a VM, but also shoot him an email(if you can) telling him you left a VM and that would like to know if a hiring decsion has been made. That way, if he doesn't want to be the bearer of bad news on the phone, he can at least respond via email if you are not the candidate that was selected.
In this economy, I am sure they get these calls often, becasue so many people are looking for a job.

As far as his outfit is concerned, if that is acceptable by the company, then it is what it is. I agree that it was not appropriate, especcially since he was interviewing someone and making an impression of the company, however, if his company says its ok, then there is nmothing that can be said about it.

Job Interview Questions: How do I be confident at a job interview?

I am really anxious about it, how do I remain calm and be confident about it when I really do not feel confident at all?

Thanks

Job Interview Basics: Reduce Stress Build Confidence!

Recommended Answer:
Preparation. Think about the kinds of questions you might get asked, come up with an answer (write it down if you want,) and run that answer past a few people that are willing to help you out. (Preferably people with experience interviewing and hiring others.)

Here are a couple of sample questions that get asked frequently in interviews.
1. Tell me a little about yourself. (It's not small talk. It's an interview question.)
2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
3. What are your greatest strengths? What is a weakness?
4. Tell me about a time you failed.
5. Why should I hire you for this job?

If you can answer those questions with SPECIFIC examples that show you are self-aware, smart, and articulate, then any other question they throw at you will be easily handled.

Best of luck!

Critical Mistakes To Avoid at Job Interview

  • Maybe you have a friend or family member pretend to be the interviewer and ask you questions to practice, the more practice you get, the more calm and confident you will be when you go to your job interview. When you get to the job interview make sure take deep breaths, and think before what you're going to say when the interviewer you a question. Good luck.

  • Well, you don't, you just fake it 'til you make it!

Try controlled breathing first. When nervous, we breathe faster. If you purposely breathe as you do normally, you will actually trick your body into feeling less anxious. Smiling will also trick you into being happier during the interview.

  • To be confident you must prepare. Know proper responses to the standard questions (practice). Know what is on your resume. Know important facts about the company that you are interviewing with. Dress nicely and comfortably. Have an extra copy of your resume and references if requested. Being prepared helps you feel better. Good luck.

  • just take deep breaths and keep saying to yourself that you can do this and also remember that the people who are interviewing you are human just the same as you and talk to people who have already done lots of interviews and ask them how they done it if all else fails just contact the people who will be interviewing you and tell them about your problem hopefully they will be able to help . when you get there if u feel shy or nervous then just pretend that everyone is in their underwear this will then hopefully get you to realize that these people are the same as you or you could try to pick out flaws from the interviewers so that you understand that they are not perfect that have bad things about them ok i hope this helps :)

  • Dress well and be confident in your self. Take a big breath of air through your nostrils and calm your self to the point of being good at answering the questions that are put to you to answer.I assure you that you will have the job.

  • come on time or earlier than what is the scheduled time of the interview.

    dress up properly and comfortably.

prepare a possible answers to possible questions of the interviewer.

    organize your thoughts.

  • Make many interviews, try always to think about what you will say in each of one. With time you learn. But it will always happen that you get nervous. If you are not doing them for a while you get nervous again. Is like jumping to the water from heights haha

A Job Interview Without Cold Sweats

  • The truth is, they really don't care what your weaknesses are. They care about how you handle the question and what your response indicates about you.

The trick to answering this question is to identify a new skill you're learning or planning to develop — something that is only a "weakness" because you haven't yet mastered it.

Good luck at the Interview! :-)

  • Anything except that you're a perfectionist. Interviewers are sick of that one.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to this job interview?

So there are going to be group interviews for PacSun (retail store), and was wondering if I should dress according to PacSun's vibe (very beachy, roxy, hurley, volcom type of style), or if i should go with the normal interview attire.

How to Face a Job Interview Successfully

Recommended Answer:
even if you interview with mcdonald's for a cashier job, you should always look as professional as a CEO! i learned that in college, and it was one of the few things that i still remember. here are some guidelines on what to wear:
Men and women should wear a suit (two pieces cut from the same cloth). Colors: dark blue, or medium to dark gray. Black is acceptable, but some find it too authoritative. Fabric: solid or subtle pinstripe, plaid or tweed.
Women: may wear conservative jewelry, no larger than dime-size earrings on the earlobe.
Men and women may carry a black, brown, or maroon leather portfolio.

if you want more details look over this page: https://sites.google.com/site/theresuman… . and if you go on that website, also look at the advice they give for interviews, i think it's straight-to-the-point.

good luck with your interview!

Job Interview Questions: What to say/ask at a job interview?

I am 16 and have a job interview at Sonic in a few days. This is my first job interview and i was wondering what kind of questions the manager will ask me, and what kind of questions i should ask him. Also, because it is a fast food restaurant, is a polo shirt and nice khaki shorts okay to wear to the interview? Please help. Thanks! :)

A Job Interview Guide for Starters

Recommended Answer:
Considering the job you're applying for, I know it would be tempting to wear shorts to the interview, but don't. Wear khakis and a polo shirt instead. Try to be relaxed. He's not going to ask you any questions that would be difficult to answer. He just wants to get to know you, and see what kind of employee you'd be. Can you get along with co-workers and jump in if they need help? How would you treat a rude, unhappy customer? What days and hours can you work? Do you intend to quit when school starts? And since it's Sonic, can you skate? lol If you are hired, make sure you find out before you leave the interview when you'll start work, when the schedule for the week goes up, when you'll get paid, what your salary is, what you'll be expected to do in the event you can't work one day
(other than calling in should you find your own replacement) and anything else you're unsure of.
Good luck, Brad

The Essential Job Interview Checklist

  • Don't wear shorts to an interview ever! Even for retail or fast food. They do look at appearance, what you're wearing, how well groomed you are. Wear slacks, or nice pants with the polo shirt. (I got a job at a store once and the human resource person who interviewed us told those of us who got the job that she looked at how well we were dressed. She said it matters even though we wear a uniform)

He may ask why you want to work at Sonic (so do some research on the company just to have some background info on the company) He may ask you what other types of jobs you have had. The manager may give a scenario in which you have to answer what you would do. (Like how to deal with a cranky customer or a complaint about food not being how they wanted it)

You could ask the manager what the busiest times of the day are. How does the crew work together during those times. You can ask if you will learn different areas of the restaurant.

  • Shorts are NEVER ok for an interview, even at a fast food place. Polo shirt and khakis are totally ok for this though. Most managers ask the same basic questions like when was a time you went out of your way to give good customer service, or helped a fellow classmate? They will ask the hours you can work, what you do in school.

Most places just interview you to make sure you aren't a total idiot. You'll be fine, remember to not be nervous...it's just fast food man. Good luck

  • If the manager has any tattoos or odd piercings, you may ask about their childhood-mainly the relationship with the father. Also, you might ask their height, weight, salary before taxes, as well as their political status and their view of the middle east. These are all useful tools that will show your manager that you are seriously interested in working for them. HOPE THIS HELPS!

  • I would go for black slacks, not khaki shorts.

And remember to be yourself. It is important to smile and show consideration and have a professional attitude.

    Good luck!

  • where a mormal shirt and troushers. he will ask you questions about previous emplyers, why u left. just answer the questions.

Job Interview Questions: If you cancel a job interview, do they report it to the unemployment office?

im on unemployment and i have a job interview tomorrow, basicly some things happend and it is inpossible for me to get there. but im worried about losing my unemployment. if i call them and cancel do you think ill be ok?

Discover Job Interview Preparation Tips That Will Make Your Upcoming Interview a Breeze!

Recommended Answer:
If the interview was obtained through the Unemployment Office, then yes ... the interviewing company will report you as a no-show.

Actually that is grounds for you to lose your unemployment benefits. You need to contact your Unemployment case worker and let them know what your situation. From there, the case working will call the interviewing company that you can't make it. Just make sure you call or talk to in person your unemployment case worker.

You usually only get one chance to miss any interview so your excuse better be a good one. Unemployment case workers don't play and will cut your unemployment if you miss an interview for any reason.

Job Interview Preparation

  • If you reschedule there won't be an issue even if the company says "no thank you" you can honestly tell the unemployment office that you tried. The worst part is doing nothing and the unemployment office asks where you have tried to get a job. You then cannot use that business as a referral b/c the unemployment office might call them to check if you really applied there.

  • You should probably just talk to the unemployment people and let them know the situation. I don't believe that the company would report it, but if they do, you dont want to risk it!

I just hired an accountant on Friday. At my firm we wear dress pants and either a dress shirt or golf shirt on a daily basis. For the interview he wore a full suit as did I. I always expect the applicant and myself to be dressed in a level higher than the actual daily wear on the job. It shows that I want to impress the potential employee and they want to impress me. So I would dress nicely.
