Job Interview Questions: Have you said something stupid on a job interview and still been hired?

I opened my fat mouth without thinking and said some dumb things (ex. am going to Vegas to party for the weekend, went out to the movies with my last boss etc.). I want to get an idea if it killed my chances.

I didn't say anything stupid, but I did something stupid. As I was being interviewed I kept staring at the woman's breasts. And she caught me staring. But she hired me anyway. What a great boss!

Job Interview Questions: How do I be confident at a job interview?

I am really anxious about it, how do I remain calm and be confident about it when I really do not feel confident at all?

Thanks

Job Interview Basics: Reduce Stress Build Confidence!

Recommended Answer:
Preparation. Think about the kinds of questions you might get asked, come up with an answer (write it down if you want,) and run that answer past a few people that are willing to help you out. (Preferably people with experience interviewing and hiring others.)

Here are a couple of sample questions that get asked frequently in interviews.
1. Tell me a little about yourself. (It's not small talk. It's an interview question.)
2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
3. What are your greatest strengths? What is a weakness?
4. Tell me about a time you failed.
5. Why should I hire you for this job?

If you can answer those questions with SPECIFIC examples that show you are self-aware, smart, and articulate, then any other question they throw at you will be easily handled.

Best of luck!

Critical Mistakes To Avoid at Job Interview

  • Maybe you have a friend or family member pretend to be the interviewer and ask you questions to practice, the more practice you get, the more calm and confident you will be when you go to your job interview. When you get to the job interview make sure take deep breaths, and think before what you're going to say when the interviewer you a question. Good luck.

  • Well, you don't, you just fake it 'til you make it!

Try controlled breathing first. When nervous, we breathe faster. If you purposely breathe as you do normally, you will actually trick your body into feeling less anxious. Smiling will also trick you into being happier during the interview.

  • To be confident you must prepare. Know proper responses to the standard questions (practice). Know what is on your resume. Know important facts about the company that you are interviewing with. Dress nicely and comfortably. Have an extra copy of your resume and references if requested. Being prepared helps you feel better. Good luck.

  • just take deep breaths and keep saying to yourself that you can do this and also remember that the people who are interviewing you are human just the same as you and talk to people who have already done lots of interviews and ask them how they done it if all else fails just contact the people who will be interviewing you and tell them about your problem hopefully they will be able to help . when you get there if u feel shy or nervous then just pretend that everyone is in their underwear this will then hopefully get you to realize that these people are the same as you or you could try to pick out flaws from the interviewers so that you understand that they are not perfect that have bad things about them ok i hope this helps :)

  • Dress well and be confident in your self. Take a big breath of air through your nostrils and calm your self to the point of being good at answering the questions that are put to you to answer.I assure you that you will have the job.

  • come on time or earlier than what is the scheduled time of the interview.

    dress up properly and comfortably.

prepare a possible answers to possible questions of the interviewer.

    organize your thoughts.

  • Make many interviews, try always to think about what you will say in each of one. With time you learn. But it will always happen that you get nervous. If you are not doing them for a while you get nervous again. Is like jumping to the water from heights haha

Should I wear what I would normally wear, or should I look more 'creative'? It's for an internship, so I've never done this before!

Job Interviewing Skills: Get the Job You Want!

A Job Interview Without Cold Sweats

  • The truth is, they really don't care what your weaknesses are. They care about how you handle the question and what your response indicates about you.

The trick to answering this question is to identify a new skill you're learning or planning to develop — something that is only a "weakness" because you haven't yet mastered it.

Good luck at the Interview! :-)

  • Anything except that you're a perfectionist. Interviewers are sick of that one.

i am going to work at a hospital and to be a nursing assistant i have a job interview in the morning. if they ask these questions: "what makes you more qualified than others" "why do you want to work here" what should i say?

    Recommended Answer:
Be honest. Tell them what qualifications you do have. Research the hospital and know a little about it. For example how long they have been in business. If it has been for a long period of years, you could say because they are a stable place of employment. It also looks good when you know something about the place where you are interviewing at. GOOD LUCK!!! hope u get the job

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview this Monday and am nervous....Way to calm nerves?

I don't urgently need to work but I have a job interview coming up and I am so nervous about it (I have social anxiety disorder). It helps that I don't absolutely have to work immediately but still the thought of it gives butterflies.

Any ideas on how I can be less anxious?

Master the Interview With These Job Interview Tips

    Recommended Answer:
First of all, there are a lot of others who are going to this interview and they need the job just as badly or more than you. If you want to land this job, do so on your merits, abilities and personality.

Check out what interviewers are looking for: the kind of personality, by asking employment counsellors.

Do not chat about yourself, your personal life, or your likes and dislikes even if they ask you. Just remain calm, and be businesslike. Answer with, 'I am glad you asked that, but I know that once you have seen my work you will be impressed with my abilities.'

Don't smile too much, (some construe this as a come-on) and never say, 'this would be my dream job'. (they think you are too anxious). Just remain in control of what you can control: your emotions, your thoughts and your responses.

Dress for the job (and very neat, with shoes polished, nails polished, and blouse and trousers pressed, or a neat-as-a-pin skirt that's not too short or from last century) with few accessories but a watch. Be on time. Make sure your cell-phone is turned off. Don't chew gum and yet, have an air of mint about you. (you will be a breath of fresh air to their hard job of finding the right person!)

Your resume should be complete, but not verbose, (no more than 2 pages) and best of all, your references MUST check out. Contact all your references FIRST and ask them nicely if they would mind giving you the best, honest opinion of you as a worker. Let them know that you appreciate them by sending a thank you to your references.

Relax: you've got it covered and remember, where God closes a door, He opens a window. He will provide for you regardless of the job situation if you put your trust in Him. Psalm 91

    Job Interview Essentials

    • Just relax-You have nothing to lose like you say you don't need to work right away. Before the interview, visualize yourself being confident, clear spoken etc. The more you do, the better you will get. If you don't get the job' ask for feedback from the interview-you have nothing to lose, but lots to gain! Good Luck :)

    • Suck on a peppermint before you go. Drink a little tea (not so much you need to use the lavatory). When you feel nervous, remember this person has to do this as well (or did before they received their current position). They are not gods, monsters, or your parents, just another human being like you.

Now go out there and rock it.

    • You should calm down and treat the interview as talking to your friend. At the interview, try and not to fidget as this will show your nerve to the interviewer! I overheard that eating a banana may help your nerve!

      Good luck!

    • Have a cup of tea ahead of time or chew some gum. When you get there spit the gum out. (Before the interview) good luck!!!

    • fill a balloon with flour and squeeze it when you feel nervous put it so it is unnoticeable in your pocket

    • Picture the women/man naked.

Job Interview Questions: If you cancel a job interview, do they report it to the unemployment office?

im on unemployment and i have a job interview tomorrow, basicly some things happend and it is inpossible for me to get there. but im worried about losing my unemployment. if i call them and cancel do you think ill be ok?

Discover Job Interview Preparation Tips That Will Make Your Upcoming Interview a Breeze!

    Recommended Answer:
If the interview was obtained through the Unemployment Office, then yes ... the interviewing company will report you as a no-show.

Actually that is grounds for you to lose your unemployment benefits. You need to contact your Unemployment case worker and let them know what your situation. From there, the case working will call the interviewing company that you can't make it. Just make sure you call or talk to in person your unemployment case worker.

You usually only get one chance to miss any interview so your excuse better be a good one. Unemployment case workers don't play and will cut your unemployment if you miss an interview for any reason.

    Job Interview Preparation

    • If you reschedule there won't be an issue even if the company says "no thank you" you can honestly tell the unemployment office that you tried. The worst part is doing nothing and the unemployment office asks where you have tried to get a job. You then cannot use that business as a referral b/c the unemployment office might call them to check if you really applied there.

    • You should probably just talk to the unemployment people and let them know the situation. I don't believe that the company would report it, but if they do, you dont want to risk it!

Job Interview Questions: What to do during your first job interview?

Question To Ask At A Job Interview-5 Of The Best Questions!

    Recommended Answer:
There's not a lot to know. Dress neatly - nothing low cut or short. Turn off your cell phone. Shake hands when you meet. Look at the interviewer when you speak to them. You'll probably be asked what days & hours you can work once school starts. If you have your own transportation. If you feel you can get along with others to work as a team. It won't be a real in depth interview for a food court job so don't worry about it. You'll be fine.

Job Interviews - Preparing and Getting Yourself Ready

    • •Do not smoke, chew gum, or eat garlic beforehand.
      •Wear suitable interview clothes.
•Take copies of your CV with you.
•Arrive on time for your job interview.
•Any applications handed before the interview begins, are to be filled in as accurately as possible, make sure they match the information in your Cv and Cover Letter.
•Always greet the interviewer by his/her last name and try to pronounce it correctly.
      •Have a good firm handshake.
•Look alert and interested. Scan the room once and then keep your eyes on the interviewer.
•Wait until you are offered a chair before you sit down.
      •Stress your achievements.
•Always conduct yourself professionally and if something beyond your control occurs, show a sense of humor.
•Be enthusiastic and show it in your replies and body language.
•Answer the interview question by more than a simple yes or no but try not to go over the 60 second limit.
•Avoid at all cost complaining about your current or former employer in your job interview.
•Do not answer questions about politics or religion if the job is completely unrelated.
•Do not raise salary discussions on your first interview - this is usually done on the second interview. Make sure you do your wage research before hand.

Your answer to the initial opening statements in the job interview are important, these are called "ice breakers".

Some times the interviewer will ask whether you had difficulty finding the company premises. Your answer should be brief and polite. The interviewer is merely being polite - if you had problems in finding the premises he/she doesn't need to know that.

      Use replies such as:
•I'm fine thank you, and you?
      •I'm very well, thank you.

These replies express a careless attitude:
      •So, so
      •OK
      •Not so well

These are just a few tips... more can be found at the sites below

      GOOD LUCK !!!

    • Before the interview
Research the company, review your resume, and practice with someone. Look over these a and a's: financialhighway.com/30-most-comm…

Bring extra copies of your resume with you. Bring a pen and paper in case you want to jot something down (ask politely first). A trick I've heard of is to bring a thank you card, after the interview fill it in and walk back in to hand it to the employer.

Be positive. They want you to do well so that they can stop looking. :)

    • If your boss is a guy, just dress like a slut.
