Job Interview Questions: Have you said something stupid on a job interview and still been hired?

I opened my fat mouth without thinking and said some dumb things (ex. am going to Vegas to party for the weekend, went out to the movies with my last boss etc.). I want to get an idea if it killed my chances.

Job Interview Skills: Can You Communicate on the Phone?

Recommended Answer:
I didn't say anything stupid, but I did something stupid. As I was being interviewed I kept staring at the woman's breasts. And she caught me staring. But she hired me anyway. What a great boss!

  • Yeah, well it wasn't that stupid.

Job Interview Questions: Would you lie in a job interview to get a job?

I told him the truth... that I'd be leaving for college next month... and he told me he was looking for someone long term as his daughters are off to college as well. I've been job hunting for 2 months and this was my big chance and I just had to tell the truth. My parents are going to KILL me.

So what about you? Would you lie? Or have you ever lied?

Job Interview Skills: Upgrade Your Performance!

Recommended Answer:
No, you'll just have to deal with not having a job. It's only a month, you'd maybe make 500 dollars anyways.

Answer Any Job Interview Question and Get Hired

  • I'd never lie.. but, simply just stretch the truth as far as possible..
For example, a simple typing for the print media, would change into having "experienced many aspects of the advertising world"..:P

  • Lying about not being available for more than a month? No way. It's a small world and people find out about that stuff.

  • I don't knw if I'd lie on your case, but I sure as hell will lie about my resume when job hunting.

  • To get a job? Never.

  • Ya

Job Interview Questions: Waitrose food counters job interview ?

Im sixteen and this is my first job interview and i want to be ready, however im not sure what sort of things a supermarket like waitrose might ask me at the interview ? my letter does not state if it is a group interview.

Job Interview Tips For Success

Recommended Answer:
If it doesn't say that it's a group interview, then it's probably not. I will try to offer you advice for both sides, but I have only done a group interview myself.
If you have a group interview, make sure you're not one of the people that fades in to the background saying nothing. You will have to do several tasks which include working in two separate teams contributing ideas together & then reporting back to the rest of the group, and going round the circle talking about yourself individually.
Make sure in the group tasks you try and contribute as much as possible, take the form of a leader (without being bossy) and if they ask if anyone wants to go first to talk about yourself or to share your ideas, volunteer wherever possible to go first (it impresses them & this way nobody can say something that you wanted to say).
Try and look smart but you don't need to over dress, when I went to my interview one guy was in a shirt and tie etc & he looked really out of place. Me and several other people were just in smart casual (I'm not sure if you are a boy or a girl, but I wore leggings & a nice top, quite casual without looking scruffy. If you are a guy I suggest maybe black trousers with a casual shirt).
They are really over enthusiastic about their food, & they will probably ask you what your favourite food is and to give reason. Something they look for in their employees is a passion for food, so make sure you emphasize this where possible.
They may ask you to come up with one fact that you know about Waitrose (it can be anything; it's history, something about their staff, the John Lewis Partnership etc.)
I don't know how you would naturally talk, but if you are normally a little common sounding try to project your voice well & be well spoken. One guy in mine was dropping the T's in most of his words & it really didn't sound very good.
Finally, have a sense of humour & be smiley. They seemed to appreciate a sense of humour in my interview & they even openly admitted that they are looking someone funny who can have a good time as well as work hard.

If it's just a one to one interview, then the only advice I can offer is to be confident. If they ask you what you can offer to Waitrose talk about being a reliable employee, your enthusiasm to learn skills, your passion to work with people (& food). If they ask you why you want to work for Waitrose, say that you like their values of quality, as they are one of the high-quality food producing stores. Also say that you appreciate it is a widely known & well respected company, and you would be proud to be part of the team.

It's healthy to be nervous, but just don't be quiet!! Even if you say something a bit silly or answer a question wrong they will ALWAYS appreciate you speaking up more than not saying anything at all.
If it makes you feel better, you must already be in their good books because I know they are very fussy when it comes to choosing between applicants to invite to interviews.

Lastly, IF it is a group interview & you find this a little daunting.. I was PETRIFIED but ended up actually having a really good 2 & a half hours. It was really fun & relaxed! One-to-one interviews are easy as well because you only have one person to worry about impressing, so you'll only be nervous for the first few minutes.

GOOD LUCK :)

Job Interview Questions: Do i need a Job resume if they have already asked me to come for an interview?

I have a job interview to a nice job i was, but i haven't given them a job resume yet. Should i make one or just let it be without one.

You should have one with you, if they ask and dress very nicely - no jeans, khakis, or short sleeve shirt

Job Interview Training For Managers - Will's Story

    • Keep handy, if they demand, give em.

    • usually they have yours if you emailed it or turned one in. So they don't it.
But in no way does it hurt to take an extra one. it's better if you do just to be prepared.

    • Bring one anyway. You have no idea how many other people they are interviewing and it will be good to give them something that you can remember you by. Also always call back after a few days and thank them for the interview. They usually hire the ones who call back, shows you're really interested.

    • Definitely put one together and take it with you. A lot of companies will want to have one on file for you, and it's a heck of a lot less awkward to have one you can hand over than to explain why you don't have one.

    • Yes, I would bring one with you on professional resume paper in an envelope.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview this Monday and am nervous....Way to calm nerves?

I don't urgently need to work but I have a job interview coming up and I am so nervous about it (I have social anxiety disorder). It helps that I don't absolutely have to work immediately but still the thought of it gives butterflies.

Any ideas on how I can be less anxious?

Master the Interview With These Job Interview Tips

    Recommended Answer:
First of all, there are a lot of others who are going to this interview and they need the job just as badly or more than you. If you want to land this job, do so on your merits, abilities and personality.

Check out what interviewers are looking for: the kind of personality, by asking employment counsellors.

Do not chat about yourself, your personal life, or your likes and dislikes even if they ask you. Just remain calm, and be businesslike. Answer with, 'I am glad you asked that, but I know that once you have seen my work you will be impressed with my abilities.'

Don't smile too much, (some construe this as a come-on) and never say, 'this would be my dream job'. (they think you are too anxious). Just remain in control of what you can control: your emotions, your thoughts and your responses.

Dress for the job (and very neat, with shoes polished, nails polished, and blouse and trousers pressed, or a neat-as-a-pin skirt that's not too short or from last century) with few accessories but a watch. Be on time. Make sure your cell-phone is turned off. Don't chew gum and yet, have an air of mint about you. (you will be a breath of fresh air to their hard job of finding the right person!)

Your resume should be complete, but not verbose, (no more than 2 pages) and best of all, your references MUST check out. Contact all your references FIRST and ask them nicely if they would mind giving you the best, honest opinion of you as a worker. Let them know that you appreciate them by sending a thank you to your references.

Relax: you've got it covered and remember, where God closes a door, He opens a window. He will provide for you regardless of the job situation if you put your trust in Him. Psalm 91

    Job Interview Essentials

    • Just relax-You have nothing to lose like you say you don't need to work right away. Before the interview, visualize yourself being confident, clear spoken etc. The more you do, the better you will get. If you don't get the job' ask for feedback from the interview-you have nothing to lose, but lots to gain! Good Luck :)

    • Suck on a peppermint before you go. Drink a little tea (not so much you need to use the lavatory). When you feel nervous, remember this person has to do this as well (or did before they received their current position). They are not gods, monsters, or your parents, just another human being like you.

Now go out there and rock it.

    • You should calm down and treat the interview as talking to your friend. At the interview, try and not to fidget as this will show your nerve to the interviewer! I overheard that eating a banana may help your nerve!

      Good luck!

    • Have a cup of tea ahead of time or chew some gum. When you get there spit the gum out. (Before the interview) good luck!!!

    • fill a balloon with flour and squeeze it when you feel nervous put it so it is unnoticeable in your pocket

    • Picture the women/man naked.
