Job Interview Questions: First job interview tips?

i am 15 and have my first job interview tomorrow. any tips i already know the interviewer. what kind of questions should i expect.

Knowing Some Job Interview Tips and Questions

Recommended Answer:
Without knowing what kind of job you're interviewing for it's kind of hard to help with specific suggestions, but a couple of general rules:

Dress for one position above the one you're applying for, so if it's a sales or fast food job, I'd suggest a nice outfit that you feel comfortable in, not too much makeup, and no perfume. You don't want your appearance to cost you the job, so don't overdo it, just make yourself look professional and reliable.

Make good eye contact, have a firm handshake, smile when appropriate, answer questions completely without rambling or going off topic, and don't put anything on the interviewer's desk without permission.

Never say anything negative about anything at any time. If they ask you if you have any faults, and they might, have an answer ready, like, "I tend to expect my coworkers to care as much about their jobs, or customer service, as I do". Always make it sound like a positive. If they ask you why you left your last job, or why this is your first one, or why you want to work for this company, have an answer ready that shows your willingness to be part of the team and to do everything you can to help them achieve their goals. They will probably ask you if you have any questions for them at the end of the interview, and it's always preferable to have one ready, like, "when do you thing you'll be making a hiring decision? Can I call you then to check in with you? Where do you see this position going in the future?" Something that shows your interest in becoming part of the organization and how you can help them achieve their goals. Everything you say should emphasize your strong commitment to customer service, helping people, and being part of the team (tailor it to the type of business it is). Use any experience you have with church groups, summer camps, other jobs, even if they're informal types like babysitting or yard work, that show your willingness to work hard and your dedication.

You're 15, not 45, so they probably aren't going to ask about your managerial philosophy or to describe a time you disagreed with your boss and how you resolved the problem. Research the organization so you know as much as you can about it's history, philosophy, and goals. Be yourself and try to relax, though you and and the interviewer both know it can be a stressful situation. Always be positive, do your best to show your commitment to the goals of the group, your willingness to learn, and your commitment to the goals of the organization.

Top 10 Job Interview Disasters

Recommended Answer:
Be outgoing, enthusiastic and happy. Clothes shops really rely on selling so basically their questions will have a lot to do with "Sell us on why you are best for this position". Point out your good attributes, point out experience, if this is your first job talk about bake sales or volunteering you did even if it's not the same MAKE it the same like....babysitting...no it's not the same but you learnt about persuasion...you had to persuade the kids to eat, persuade them to go to bed and this really helped your selling skills because you had to sell them on the idea of going to bed and they'll ask how you did it. Get what I mean? Any experience even if it's not the same there are similar things but try to stay away from saying you bribed the kids because that's not the same lol.

OH OH OH ok...here's some tips on sales...there's two things you should know...

Suggestive selling: When a customer is buying a blue cardigan, suggest that they take a look at the frilly tank tops that really accent the cardi.

Up-selling: When a customer is at the check out stand and you're having a promotion 2 for 1 and you are going from 1 item sold up to 2.

These are things you'll need to know and you'll look knowledgeable about the industry a bit. Your interview will probably be about 30 minutes or less.

Job Interview Advice - Impress the Interviewer and Get the Job

  • You should answer the questions with a straight face but seem like your happy. Make sure you relax and stay calm. You also have to make them comfortable with you. It should take like a half hour. Hope I helped and good luck!

  • answer this one...

why should we hire you instead of the other 48 people who are applying...
why are you better than them.

Job Interview Questions: Response from job interview said they are postponing the position?

I went on an interview last week at a company I really wanted to work with. I received an email today saying that I was an excellent candidate and they enjoyed meeting me, but they are postponing the position.

What does this mean? The position was for an admin position and I would be replacing the woman leaving to go to another job. I met them all and she even told me I'd be replacing her so don't they need someone?

Things to Do in a Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Maybe the person has delayed their leaving date, or decided not to leave after all? They want to save money and are seeing if they can distribute her tasks among other employees? Honestly, there's no way to know unless you call and ask - but since you're not an employee they have no reason to tell you. anything about their circumstances. But since you had a positive interview it wouldn't be unprofessional if you call up to let them know you are still interested, and ask how long a postponement are they anticipating - you'll get some information that way.

How to Do Well in a Job Interview

  • Its a recession baby, the boss decided to wait a while because they don't have enough money....or maybe a decision making is on holiday etc

On the other hand, maybe the boss wants someone different and so they have to interview more people.

Who knows, just keep looking for work.

Job Interview Questions: Job interview in the same office building as the company you currently work for?

Over the past few weeks, I've tried looking for a new job and today I scheduled an interview with a company looking for an admin assistant. Only problem is the company is located in the same building as the company I currently work for albeit on a different floor. I plan on attending this interview but how do I managed to pull this off with my boss finding out?

How to Set Up Job Interviews Without a Resume!

    Recommended Answer:
If you're worried about being found out, why not call the person you are interviewing with and explain the situation? You can just let them know that you'd like your job search to be confidential and that if it's at all possible, you'd prefer to meet outside of the building. You'd be amazed at how many interviews are conducted in Starbucks and other similar locations these days! I'm sure the prospective employer will respect your reasonable request and if they don't then perhaps they're not the employer for you. Good luck!!

Job Interview Questions: Have u ever been rejected at a job interview cos of ur tattoes?

2day i went 2 a job interview at a gas station and the manager told me sorry but we dont hire people with tattoes and i c u have one on ur neck(a rose). Then she told me that she didnt wanna waste my time so the interview was canceled.Does that ever happened 2 any of u?not being hired cos of a tat?how did u feel?

A Guide to Preparing For Your Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
A great many places will not hire anyone with visible tattoos, body piercings (except pierced ears - and wear good quality earrings), etc. "Professional attire and professional appearance" are required most places, especially if you come into contact with the public.

Foolish place to get a tattoo. Can you wear turtlenecks to hide it - not just for the interview, but every day at work? Consider getting it removed.

How to Earn a Winning Grade on Your Next Job Interview

      • When I interviewed at my last job I would pretty much write off any applicant with a visible tatoo. It is very unprofessional looking. I'm glad that even gas stations are discouraging it. Hopefully this fad of defacing every inch of a person's body will go away soon. I can't wait to see the 70 year olds walking around in 30 years with tattoos on their necks.

      • It could be that they just didnt like the look of you and used that as an excuse.

Then again - I do know that some places still dont like tattoos. Dont worry about it too much though - Still plenty of jobs out there!

Job Interview Questions: Job interview! PLEASE HELP!!?

I recently got a new job at a small law firm in september just for temporarily until i find a job in a hotel. And now i got a job interview at a high end hotel in Las Vegas.

The problem is that i don't know whether or not if should tell them during the interview that i am currently working or not. When I applied for the hotel job, i didn't write it on my resume because i didn't want it to effect my chances of getting picked for having such a short time period for a job i don't really care about.

PLEASE HELP ME! SHOULD I TELL THEM THAT I AM CURRENTLY WORKING OR NOT?
      PLEASE HELP!

      THANK YOU!

This happened to me this summer.
I told the new job in the interview that I was working part time right now to supplement income but that they knew up front when they hired me that I was continuing to seek full time employment and that I would be leaving them when I found full time employment. Say you need to be fair and professional to them and give them your two weeks notice, but that you had discussed it with them at hire and they were prepared for your early departure. Then you sound responsible and not like a jerk. Good luck, I hope you get it!!

Job Interview Skills Tips - Sample Interview Thank You Notes

      • I think you should be honest about having a job. I have done this already a few times and from my experience every employer likes it when you are honest about things and that will count as a bonus for you getting the job.

      • Tell them, espeicially if you have to give notice of a week or more at your current job, that way if you're successful they will know when you are able to start. Its also evidence that you are willing to work.

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear to a job interview in the north?

I'm from Florida, but I have a job interview in the north. I know it'll be cold and possibly snowing, but since I was born and raised here, I have no clue what to wear!

      Are heels ok?
Will i freeze in a skirt?

Secrets to Answering Job Interview Questions About Your Weaknesses

      • Try a nice blouse and either a skirt or dress pants. Go light on the makeup and perfume. Be conservative on the jewelry and wear a watch if you have one. Finish your look with skin tone or tan pantyhose. The hose will give you a professional look and keep you warmer. For shoes, try a low heeled pump. If it is raining or snowing, use galoshes to protect your good shoes.

        Good luck in your interview.

      • I don't think it's a good idea to wear heels in the snow unless you want to slip and fall. Stick with some slacks/dress pants and wear thermals underneath. Wear thermals under your shirt too and layer it. You can wear a sweater and maybe a wool coat until you get there and take it off.

      • dress slacks heels if it is snowing i would put snow boots/tennis shoes on then when you get to the interveiw then i would put the heels on if you want to if you want to good for the interveiw and deffently dont FOR GET THE COAT,GLOVES,HAT

      • A nice pair of business slacks with a nice sophisticated wool/cotton coat and a scarf with a collar shirt or a business suit.

Job Interview Questions: What to wear for my job interview?

Tomorrow I have a job interview at J.Crew and I am wondering what I should wear. My dad suggested for me to not wear black which I won't. I noticed J.Crew is kind of preppy, so I am wondering if I should dress casual preppy? Any suggestions?

      Recommended Answer:
Yes, preppy. Tip: always dress as the job you want. So, yes, if they see you like their collection of preppy clothes, they'll like you even more. Wear something you have from there - they'll be impressed. but not causual. make it a little professional.

How to Recover From a Bad Job Interview and Get the Job

      • Always dress one level above the job you're applying for. For J. Crew, dress in a good pair of khakis and a button-down shirt.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview at Buckle?

I have a job interview at Buckle this Tuesday, and I don't know what to wear! I own a few things I bought there, but they're all at home - I'm at college.
I have an olive green military style jacket that seems really Buckle-y, but I'm not sure what to pair with it. Should I wear flared or skinny jeans? I almost always wear skinnies but most of the jeans on their website are flared. And what sort of shirt?
      Help!

How To Prepare For A Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
if the jacket is a little big i'd say a flowy white shirt or a white tank top with a nice long necklace, probably one with a focal point(like one item on necklace) and perhaps some skinny jeans with any type of boots.. i think that all the elements of the outfit are current and will show you follow and pay attention to fashion trends. Good luck on your interview remember to be confident and reassuring!
