Common Job Interview Mistakes

Recommended Answer:
Absolutely. I got 3 of the best jobs of my life by following up. And it's not bad to send a Very Short Thank You note right after the interview. Good luck.

Nervous About an Upcoming Job Interview? Just Focus on the Three Interview Objectives

  • This is what I did for Wendy's and I already got a second interview there.

Give out your resume and/or application to the manager

Wait a week, if you don't get a call ask them if you can arrange in interview because you are interested to work there.

If they say yes, then go in and good luck :D

  • I would go into the actual store, thats what i did with Food lion and i got the job and im only 17. Do a online application cause they always ask for that, and then walk into the store and ask to speak to the store manager or MOD (manager on duty).

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview right after school. Would taking my backpack and books be unacceptable?

I have an interview at a little restaurant right next to my school. It is literally a 20 second walk. so I figured instead of having my parents pick me up and drive me (which would be pointless), I'd just walk over. But would taking my backpack and books be totally unprofessional? Or would they understand because I'm a high school student? Thanks for any input

Job Interview Strategies That Work - Create Your Perfect Interview Movie

Recommended Answer:
I think if you could arrange to leave your backpack and books somewhere else while you interview that it would be a great idea. I know you are a high school student, but the job market is tough, so anything that can help you look more professional and mature will help. But if it can't be avoided, then it can't be avoided.

Job Interview Questions: How to prepare for a job interview?

whats up every one, i have a job interview on Friday for a position in HVAC, i have never been on a job interview in my life, though i went to school for hvac i don't know what kind of question to expect during a job interview, can anyone give me some insights on common job interview questions? thank you i really appreciate it

Discriminatory Job Interview Questions to Avoid

    Recommended Answer:
They always ask you to identify a weakness of yours. You can't say, "I don't have any" or "can't think of any" because it will show arrogance and lack of insight about yourself. The best thing to do is name one and let them know how you've identified that and have worked on getting better at it. I usually say that I can get impatient when having to explain the same things over and over again.

Here's a list of questions. Just read through them, and even though you don't have much experience, try and relate these questions to your schooling or personal life: www.collegegrad.com/jobsearch/Mas…

Know How to Answer Job Interview Questions Regarding Your Weaknesses

    • Well if you went to school for this I'm sure you'll be good at the interview anyway! But here's what I have experienced.

They ask about your background first, What is your education? What's the most valuable thing you learned in school? What did you learn that will help you in this job? etc., then they'll ask about past job experience if you have any.

They may ask you things like, Do you have any experience in a leadership role? How did that go? When have you exceeded someone's expectations? Do you work well with others/as a team, if so do you have any examples? What are your greatest strengths? Greatest weaknesses? What sort of obstacles have you overcome at school or in your life? What's your greatest accomplishment? Why should I hire you? What makes you the best person for this job?

They like you to be open and honest but to appear as if you care and are there to impress. It's ok to be a little nervous (better than being apathetic!) as long as you are cool and collected enough. Just relax and be yourself. Good luck!

    • Be confident. Be ready to admit when you do not know the answer to a question but show an eagerness to learn. Show great interest in the company. Enjoy your new job!

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview, do i bring references and letters of recommendation?

Not really a job. I won't make any money, but it's really good on your resume. The interview is tomorrow and I don't have any references or letters of recommendation. Will they be asking for one ? The position is for being a part of organizing this event.

Job Interview Questions: Question on requesting another job interview?

I was too nervous in a job interview and did poorly. Would it be helpful to email the employer that "May I request another interview, because I was too nervous and I should have done better?"

    Thanks for any helpful answer.

Eye Opening Job Interview Techniques - Discover How A Touch of Emotions Can Lead to Better Interview

    Recommended Answer:
It would be extremely unlikely that they would grant you another interview. Interviews take time to do and most managers are too busy to give people "do overs" if they didn't do well the first time. Unfortunately it's up to you to calm yourself and present yourself well and as a manager who does a lot of interviewing I wouldn't give anyone a do over just because they felt they didn't do well. Sorry, just being honest here.

What you could do though which has a better chance of succeeding is to email the employer to thank them for the interview and say something along the lines that you hope they can look past your nervousness to hire you (and very very briefly reiterate one or two points of why you still think you're the best candidate for the job). You can also let them know you haven't been to many interviews yet and if they have any constructive feedback on how you could do better (regardless if they choose to hire you or not), that would be very good. Very few people think to ask for feedback on their interviewing skills and fail interview after interview without any idea why when they could just ask. Not all interviewers will provide feedback, but some will and that's invaluable information.

Employment Information - Job Interview Preparation

    • No, it wouldn't be helpful. Most employers now and days do multiple interviews. If you did not receive a call back from them, then they are not interested in you. Giving you another chance would not be of their concern as there are probably many more other candidates they have to interview. They can't double back just because you messed up and should have done better.

Even if it was a phone interview, the answer remains the same.

    • telling a prospective employer you blew the interview because you were nervous tells the employer you don't perform well under pressure. i doubt very much if you can get another interview.

Job Interview Questions: What should I say for this job interview question?

What should I say in this job interview?
I'm a 16 year old girl and I applied for a job at a clothing store.
The store mainly provides clothes for women who are 30+ years old.
So anyway, I have an interview this weekend and I'm not sure exactly what I should say if they ask the question
"Why do you want to work here?"

    Job Interview Mistakes!

    Recommended Answer:
Okay the followings are the questions asked in my recent job interview.
    * Tell me a little bit about your self (in general)
    * Please tell me about your work experience and elaborate your tasks in great details if possible
    * What makes you apply for this job?
    * How do you measure up to the criteria written on our job ads?
    * Tell me about your availability, how many hours do you expect to work in a week?
    * Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs time?
    * What quality can you bring into this organization?
    * What are your strengths and weaknesses?
    * Have you worked in a similar role as the role advertised?

These are some of the questions that may be asked during the interviews.

Here are my answers to the questions:

My name is X, I am XX years and I have been living in country Y for 20 years, my hobbies are fishing, swimming and dancing and etc. etc.

I have worked previously as a salesperson at company Z which specialise in providing B goods to consumers. Some of my tasks were to serve customers, merchandise goods and writing sales report to my manager. I did very well in my last job, infact i was the top salesperson. Unfortunately i had to leave the job because of family reasons.

These are answers to the first 2 questions.

Good luck and take a good care of yourself

A Guide to the Most Evil Job Interview Questions

    • "Why do you want to work here?" is usually a question that a prospective employer asks in order to asses two things, one is whether you will fit the culture and the other is to see if you did advance research. Look up the company and find out what their core values are and see how well you fit their culture. It is a win-win answer for you. If you fit the culture, then you'll know how to reply, if you don't then you wouldn't want to work there anyways. It should have nothing to do with who the merchandise is marketed to (in this case 30+ women). Your answer should have something to do with the philosophy of the company, such as they are innovative, progressive, self-governing, or whatever.

    • The words "cart" and "horse" are spinning around in my mind here: surely you knew that before you applied, and probably answered the question in your CV, cover letter or job application form?

If you don't know why, and are looking to invent a reason, then you are already at a loss to other applicants who do want that job at that shop: there are lots of hungry people out there at present! If you made a "just a job" application, that will tell in interview.

The answer is research. Read about their company, that shop, your geography (ie: market); and where you want to be when you are 25+? Retail is about people engagement, marketing and detail: so what is it about them that appeals to you, and what they will add to your skill sets in those areas? Do they have a great training programme, or excellent marketing? Have you or your friends/Mums friends been there, what did they like?

Don't make this mistake again - research the companies before applying and know what appeals/why you are applying.

      Good Luck!

    • Try the truth is better than anything you could make up,when all is said and done i sure they don't want someone who pretends to want to work there because they need someone who,and will work at their job and help raise the sales not someone who is going to get bored very quick etc the truth will win out everytime, and if your going to lie about that how can they trust you to handle money and customers, you need to make them feel that they need you more than the next person be yourself, dress accordingly adbe polite at all times

    • Tell them you why you want to work there. Something like I wish to learn about business, dealing with people, and how to sell. You also know that since this is your first job that you will learn a lot from a number of different people. You are also looking forward to having a store full of clothes to make selections from for other people. I hope this helps. Good luck.

    • You should say something like.....I would like the oppritunity to learn about fashion, and to provide great customer service, which is something that is missing in the shopping expirence....shopping for clothes should be fun and not stressful

    • Tell them the truth, Why do you want to work their. Come up with a list of 4 or 5 good reason. Such as.

You are located close to where I live or from my school.
      I like your merchandise
I like dealing with women who want to look nice.

Job Interview Questions: What are some suggestions on "how to botch a job interview"?

Someone set you up for a job interview. The job conflicts with your 18 hour sleep schedule and it would infringe on your Y/A P&S contributions.

You show up to be nice, but how do you BOTCH it?

Job Interview Techniques - 3 Super Tips When Preparing For A Job Interview

    • There are so many ways to botch it that I can't possibly list them all. You could show up in shorts and a T-shirt, you could come in with raggedy clothes on, you could show up twenty minutes late, or you could come in looking angry like you want to whoop someone's assss. The list here could go on on.

    • wear a trash bag, dip my hair in a mud puddle, "forget" to brush my teeth after eating a big helping of garlic, and show up high as a kite, think that oughta do it!

    • Ha Ha, lovely. Ask if it's ok to have a 2 hour lunch break as you usually like 4-6 pints of lager to keep the shakes at bay. Trouble is, you'll prob get the job!!
      Poll:Asym.

    • When they get to the question of why you are not at your most recent job anymore repeat the following..
Well, I was caught embezzling a rather large sum of money...but its ok because they made me pay it back...well some of it"

    • Take a Viagra a good half hour in advance. Talk in a poorly feigned russian accent. Smell your fingers periodically. And don't forget to not brush your teeth.

    • Fart. A lot. Loudly.

      Asymmetrical.

    • you tell the guy/girl who is interviewing you that you are the better partner for their partner and you want them to be FIRED!

    • Eat a whole mess of something that will cause anal leakage followed with a lot of cups of coffee.

      Asymmetrical
Note: Bring extra pants for the ride home.

    • Cough in their face and then tell them that not even the Swine Flu could keep you away from the interview.Symmetrical

    • piss yourself and make as many references as possible to you sodomizing the person interviewing you.

    • Start interview them !

    • Go a bit drunk with alcohol on your breath, hair uncombed and in slept in clothes.

    • Just walk in wearing a pink tutu and a ball gag that should do the trick.Symmetrical I like the idea of 2 bewbies.

    • show up with a beer in your hand and insult the interviewer.

    • Go in smelling like booze, lay down a really gassy fart or two, and then throw up in their wastebasket.
      Poll: Symmetrical

    • Pull a Sharon Stone and show your Basic Instinct.Wait...that might just get me the job......Symmetrical.

    • That's easy. Just say: You don't do drug test do you? And if their reply is yes, just say, awww mannn!!!

    • Wear a Snuggie and argue with the voices in your head.

    • sneeze in your hand before you shake the interviewers

    • Wouldn't bathe or brush my teeth (eat corn chips on top of that). Talk loudly or act narcoleptic. Scratch myself in weird places.

      Symmetrical.

    • Light a cigarette....that'll do it every time

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview at Buckle?

I have a job interview at Buckle this Tuesday, and I don't know what to wear! I own a few things I bought there, but they're all at home - I'm at college.
I have an olive green military style jacket that seems really Buckle-y, but I'm not sure what to pair with it. Should I wear flared or skinny jeans? I almost always wear skinnies but most of the jeans on their website are flared. And what sort of shirt?
    Help!

    Recommended Answer:
if the jacket is a little big i'd say a flowy white shirt or a white tank top with a nice long necklace, probably one with a focal point(like one item on necklace) and perhaps some skinny jeans with any type of boots.. i think that all the elements of the outfit are current and will show you follow and pay attention to fashion trends. Good luck on your interview remember to be confident and reassuring!

Job Interview Questions: What do you recommend me wearing for my job interview?

Well this is my first job interview in a long time. I have to go next week. First is going to be some sort of orientation. Then i'm going to take an assesment test which is going to required lifting weights and getting in and out of the cabin of a truck. If all goes well they might interview and hopefully get the job. So it might be three things in one day. One of them might involve getting sweaty and dirty. I did ask the person that I spoke to and he said dress casual. Now I ask you what do you recommend?
