Job Interview Questions: If you fail a polygraph test for a job interview can you always retry?

I'm starting I get nervous readdibg all this. "one clinch in your butt and they can tell your lieing" an "it's been proven 60% of the time polygraphs are not reliable. I want to join the VAPD. But say I fail for some odd reason which I shouldn't because I've never done anything bad. But say I fail am I allowed to re take it? Or re apply?

It is Important For Every Job Seeker to Know About the Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Relax. You aren't going to fail. Just be honest, if it was "proven to be wrong 60% of the time" then no one would use it for anything.

The examiner will explain the process to you, go over your background with you before the test.

When the actual test begins, you'll get questions like "Is your name John Smith?" "Have you ever been to the moon?" "Are you a resident of Virginia?" and others to get a "baseline" reading. This lets them take into account how nervous you are about the test in general, so that doesn't factor into when they get to the 'real' questions, like "Other than the things we talked about before, have you ever stolen anything from someplace you worked?"

You'll be fine if you're honest, relax and don't stress about it.

Job Interview Questions: How important is appearance for a job interview?

For instance, what there is a problem with my complexion, as in my skin? Does it hurt my chances?

A Job Interview Guide for Starters

Recommended Answer:
You finally got a job interview in a company that you are very interested in working for and you want everything to be perfect.
Your clothes and the way you dress say a lot about you; people assume things about your personality from your outfit. Your look is window to your soul. When you come to a job interview your appearance is a part of your business card.
The color of clothing that you wear to a job interview should match the type of job that you are attending to. It should be the type of dress that is acceptable there
For example: if it is a tie place you have to wear a tie. If it is a jeans and t-shirt place you have to wear jeans. The magic is to look like you fit in perfectly.
A person that will come over dressed to a younger place will look old or too serious. Before you start thinking about what to wear find out what is the common dress code it the sector.
The way you dress should fit the interview and therefore you should wear different cloths for each job interview.

Job Interview Tips - What To Do Before And During The Interview

  • It can be a hindrance, but it you show them that you are a go-getter and that you know your stuff then it shouldn't be a problem. It also depends on the industry. For example if you work at a make-up counter then they want you to have flawless skin, but if you work at a fast food restaurant or a gas station, then it doesn't matter.

  • It depends. job interviewers tend to be very biased.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview right after school. Would taking my backpack and books be unacceptable?

I have an interview at a little restaurant right next to my school. It is literally a 20 second walk. so I figured instead of having my parents pick me up and drive me (which would be pointless), I'd just walk over. But would taking my backpack and books be totally unprofessional? Or would they understand because I'm a high school student? Thanks for any input

Job Interview Strategies That Work - Create Your Perfect Interview Movie

Recommended Answer:
I think if you could arrange to leave your backpack and books somewhere else while you interview that it would be a great idea. I know you are a high school student, but the job market is tough, so anything that can help you look more professional and mature will help. But if it can't be avoided, then it can't be avoided.

Job Interview Questions: Is it appropriate to where dramatic makeup for a job interview at a makeup counter?

The makeup line is known for it's dramatic looks and colors. The person I dropped my resume off with said she loved my makeup. But would it be OK for the interview? Or should I stay conservative?

Job Interviews - What Am I Doing Wrong?

    Recommended Answer:
It depends on the counter. If it was for something like MAC or Illamasqua, then sure, go for drama. If you're going for something like Clinique, do something clean and refined looking. Just research the company and if you can try to use a couple of their products just in case they ask. Good luck!

Tips to a Job Interview Presentation to Impress Your Hiring Manager

    • well they aren't hiring you just because you wear their makeup. be simple and natural, clean and professional. you want the job, not to bribe them into hiring you because you wear their makeup. if you get the job, that is the time to wear the dramatic makeup, not during the interview. no, it is NOT ok.

    • If you can go halfway (some bright but toned down and very skillfully applied), that may be better for the following reasons:

      - if it isn't the person that took your resume that will interview you, their tastes may be different

      - it is still an interview and you may meet other people administrative people so staying on a slightly conservative edge will please everyone

      Good luck with the interview.

    • Well, since it's for a makeup counter job, and the brand likes dramatic looks, i say go for it. If it were in an office, then definitely no! But it's a job for a dramatic makeup brand, so, once again, yes, you should.

    • i would play it safe and tone it down a few notches but still show you can do more than apply-you can apply certain looks and techniques while still being professional. that will really impress them if they know what theyre doing.

    • If it's a brand like Sephora or MAC then yes!
Every chick that works there has ot on tons of make-up because it's a MAKE-UP store.
The better your make-up is, the more impressed they'll be!
      (:

    • Well you're applying for working at a make up counter...so I say yes, it's okay. Maybe they'll be impressed by your makeup skills!

    • i think you should wear a daytime smokey eye or something more natural, and then maybe during your interview ask if it is appropriate to "go all out" with your eye makeup

    • Something unique is good :)
      dont go too crazy

    • Go medium. Not so natural bit make a statement without SCREAMING! You know?

Interview Skills You Need To Succeed In a Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
I was taught that you thank the person you saw, you mention the workplace, and say the words thank you at least once. You thank them for seeing and talking with you, as well as spending their time with you. Mention specific things they did for you, did they feed you or offer coffee, did you get a tour, did you meet other people? Mention it. And be sure and mention that you appreciate being considered for the position,

about.com and e-how both have sample thank you letters and tips and instructions. One of the sites had a big long letter, in which the writer pointed out his qualifications for the job. I was not taught to do that, I was taught just to send a thanks. But, I was never applying for a big city power job, either. I'm sure the rules are different for such a job.
