Job Interview Questions: If you fail a polygraph test for a job interview can you always retry?

I'm starting I get nervous readdibg all this. "one clinch in your butt and they can tell your lieing" an "it's been proven 60% of the time polygraphs are not reliable. I want to join the VAPD. But say I fail for some odd reason which I shouldn't because I've never done anything bad. But say I fail am I allowed to re take it? Or re apply?

It is Important For Every Job Seeker to Know About the Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Relax. You aren't going to fail. Just be honest, if it was "proven to be wrong 60% of the time" then no one would use it for anything.

The examiner will explain the process to you, go over your background with you before the test.

When the actual test begins, you'll get questions like "Is your name John Smith?" "Have you ever been to the moon?" "Are you a resident of Virginia?" and others to get a "baseline" reading. This lets them take into account how nervous you are about the test in general, so that doesn't factor into when they get to the 'real' questions, like "Other than the things we talked about before, have you ever stolen anything from someplace you worked?"

You'll be fine if you're honest, relax and don't stress about it.

Job Interview Questions: What should i say at a job interview?

i have a interview at bed bath and beyond i need some help wit some questing and answers like what is your weaknesses? and what are your strengths ? what are some good experience at your last job and why do u want to work here? Why are you interested in working for our company?
what should i know? do anyone have some advice

Job Interviews - Six Tips to Prepare You

Recommended Answer:
Well, what are your strengths? Maybe something like being self motivated, hard working, ambitious, things like that are good.
For your weaknesses, again its very personal. It a good idea to have some ready for your interview because no one likes somebody who thinks that they're already the best and can't improve on anything. My personal weaknesses are that I have to make sure I get a good nights sleep or I am dead for the next day, so to combat this I make sure i go to bed early. Another one is that I can be quite shy when talking to people (which isn't good for a job you're going for, I think!) But make sure that you explain how you will make your weaknesses better.

Try researching their company and look for something you could say about them like 'I want to wok for your company because I have heard that you're very accommodating to staff and are a fair company, and I believe its the perfect environment for me to excel at my skills'

for your previous job experience, if you have any, make sure you high light any responsibilities you had, and your duties etc.

Its a very good idea to think about all this stuff before your interview because otherwise they might ask you and you'll be left with no answer (I know from personal experience, its always a problem to draw a blank!)

Lastly, like on a CV, the most important thing is to make the company believe that by hiring you, they are gaining in interesting hard working person. Make yourself stand out from any other applicants that they might have.

Job Interviews - Last Minute Strategies

  • Go to your bookstore and get a good book on Interviewing.
Such as "Interviewing for Dummies" - not for dummies - its a really good book.
It will have all your questions and how to answer them correctly.
It will be a book that you will use as a resource for the rest of your life.

Job Interview Questions: Have you ever lied on an application about your race in order to get a job/interview/call back?

I look like a white guy, but my last name is Mexican so I can choose either on the application.
I've noticed I usually get waaaay more call backs, interviews and job offers if I put down Mexican/Hispanic. It's technically not lying for me, cause I am Mexican somewhere down my family tree. But have any of you lied to get the interview?

Job Interview Questions: Skinny tie unprofessional for job interview?

I was wondering if a skinny tie is considered unprofessional at a job interview. The tie is around 2 inches and I'm interviewing at a store that sells dress clothing and shoes.

The Job Interview Process - What to Expect

Recommended Answer:
Yes especially for a store that sells dress clothing. Prove that you know how to dress professionally and that is not what you'd wear to work and wear a real tie.

Job Interview 101

  • i don't think it's inprofessional, but because it's for a clothing store i think a fater tie would be better

  • Best chance of getting the job is probably wearing the type of thing they would sell there, to show that you 'get' / agree with their sense of style...don't you think?

  • Screw the interview.
Put all of your skinny ties in a box. And throw them out. They're a disgrace to fashion.

  • I don't think it is unprofessional for a job in retail.

  • I must say....yes.

Job Interview Questions: What should I write in a job interview thank you note?

Just had a job interview. What should i say in the thank you note I am going to send? Give me a generic thank you

Interview Skills You Need To Succeed In a Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
I was taught that you thank the person you saw, you mention the workplace, and say the words thank you at least once. You thank them for seeing and talking with you, as well as spending their time with you. Mention specific things they did for you, did they feed you or offer coffee, did you get a tour, did you meet other people? Mention it. And be sure and mention that you appreciate being considered for the position,

about.com and e-how both have sample thank you letters and tips and instructions. One of the sites had a big long letter, in which the writer pointed out his qualifications for the job. I was not taught to do that, I was taught just to send a thanks. But, I was never applying for a big city power job, either. I'm sure the rules are different for such a job.

Job Interview Questions: How do I impress for my second job interview, so that I can get the job?

I was offered a second job interview for a sales job at a local theme park (Knott's) and my first interview wasn't the best...i apparently appeared super nervous and as a result my answers to the interviewers questions were not a great representation of my work ethic. My interviewer said that I need to be more confident, make eye contact, etc. So what I'm asking is if you could give me tips and also some sample questions and answers of what the interviewer would like to hear. Thank You!
