Job Interview Questions: Job interview soon...got any tips?

hello! I have a job interview in a couple hours and it's been years since I've changed jobs. I am applying to be a server at a pretty casual restaurant. Any tips? I'm thinking of just wearing black pants and a button-up top with some black boots, and just wearing my hair down. And I'm friendly and outgoing and usually not too nervous at interviews, but I just want some reassurance from you guys. What are your tips? thanks!

A Job Interview and the Ultimate Language Tool to Guarantee the Job Offer

Recommended Answer:
Your clothing choice sounds good. I'm not sure about the boots though. Just make sure that your shirt is not low cut and don't wear excessive makeup. Just try to look natural and well groomed. Good luck!

Appearing For a Dream Job Interview - Things That You Must Not Talk About

  • my best tip.
    dont screw up. :o

  • Assuming you have basic social skills needed for an interview (smile, mirror the movements and body language of your interviewer etc.) then a great tip for improving your posture - and therefore the physical impression you make - is how to sit in the chair properly.

When you go to sit down, rather than just plonking yourself on the seat and leaning back into the back of the chair, do this: As you lower yourself down into the seat, make the base of your back (i.e. your bum!) touch the back of the chair first. Slide that part of your body down into the seat. This will kind of wedge you into the chair which will give you a very upright and authoritive position. It may sound silly but do it in front of the mirror and you will see a marked improvement in your posture over just 'plonking'.

    Good luck!

Job Interview Questions: I had a job interview today. How can you tell if you are going to get the job?

It seemed like she liked my answers ( although I was nervous) she did ask me to sign the paper and write my ss# on if so if I am hired the will have to do a back ground check. I am thinking if she was not interested I would have just left the interview without signing that paper and giving my ss# I would think she would not of even asked my to do that right?

Weird Job Interview Tips: 2009 Psychology Study Reveals Truth Behind First Impressions

Recommended Answer:
Well I've filled out background checks for a few jobs and not actually been offered the job. I'd say send a hand written thank you note in the mail reiterating your interest and follow up in a week or so to check on the status. Good luck!

Common Job Interview Mistakes

  • Maybe, maybe not. She might have narrowed it down to a few people and she knows that sometimes the background check comes back bad for a certain percentage of people. So if you don't have a murder conviction on your record, you might still be in the running. Good luck!

  • well the best way would be to read their facial expressions during the interview

  • you cannot tell. have to wait for the phone call.

Job Interview Questions: Is this a real job interview or is it a scam?

Should I go?
I got an email from someone who just goes by Joe and they asked me to meet at some office, which today I drove by to make sure I knew how to get there and it's a house. The interview is scheduled at 3pm so it's daylight hours. I don't remember applying for this job so I asked when I replied to the email and he said that my resume was forwarded to him by a company that I did in fact apply to about a year ago. Should I go or is this a scam?

Special Job Interview Considerations

Recommended Answer:
I wouldn't go if I were you. You drove by his "office" and it was actually a house...? This sounds kind of sketchy. Maybe try getting his phone number and set up some sort of phone interview? I don't know if that would be possible or if it would be a good idea to ask about if it is indeed legit. I agree with the person who answered before I did. If you aren't even in the market for a job then I wouldn't even go. I would still be worried about some stranger having your information.

Getting Job Interview Help For Aviation Jobs

  • I would be careful. Are you actually looking for a job at this moment in time?

If not, don't go. It may be a scam.

If you do decide to go, get someone to sit in the car outside and watch out for you. Have an agreed time and plan as to how this person will get you out if you are not out within that time scale. He could plead some emergency or another meeting or something. If you are happy tell this friend that you will be a few minutes and will be along. That way the interviewer will know that there is someone keeping tabs on you.

  • Google the name of the company and "complaints" to see if anything comes up. Look up several pages.
Call the better business bureau. The number will be in the telephone book, or you can find it online.I would NOT go, or at the very least have a male friend accompany you (not a female friend.)

It seems very fishy to me!

  • Stay far away! This is a scam and you are being set up.

There are several possibilities and here are two:
This man has been stalking you already and wants to get you alone so you can "fall in love" with him.
This is some sort of scam to get women alone for God Knows What.

With the rise in human trafficking lately as well as the rise in rape, you may want to print that email off and take it to the police. Also, block this creep from your email. His next step may be stalking.

Again: and I am putting in caps for emphasis:

PRINT THE EMAIL AND TURN IT IN TO THE POLICE! Let them handle the creep. Who knows, you may help to snag a serial rapist.

  • I would reply to the email. Let him know that you are interested in employment. Ask him to please confirm the name of the company, his name and title and the title of the position for which you will be interviewing,

Be very polite in case this is legitimate, but if you don't get satisfactory answers to those simple questions I would not go. I would be tempted to check out the name of the business on your state's Department of Revenue website to verify that it is indeed a licensed business. And even if everything checks out, take a big burly man to the interview with you. He can wait in the lobby or seating area but make his presence known.

By the way, my spouse runs a business out of a residential home (no one lives there - the business is just in a home). In 16 years she has only had to hire three times (she is a great boss) but every time she does people always think it's sketchy since it's in a house.

  • Did you respond to an ad on craigslist? if so, it's most likely a scam.

the house may be empty...maybe he doesn't really live there. i've heard of this kind of stuff where people set up interviews or act like they are going to buy/sell something on craigslist (or similar web sites) and they break into an empty house and rob/rape/harm the person.

this is one interview i'd skip out on if i were you.

  • LISTEN to us...SCAM! Report this activity to the Police Department immediately. Even if you do not go, you may save someone else from being harmed. Or, worse. No reputable company witholds information about who they are, what the job entails, and holds interviews in a home. Unless it is a pyramid type business. I would be very very careful...

  • These days, you can't be too careful. Are you looking for a job? Even if you are, I would avoid this offer and just reply to him that you're not interested in the job offer. It definitely sounds shady. Keep searching.

  • BIG red flag, an interview at a house. Def do NOT go, not worth it. He could easily have found your info and is a liar, in any case, any interview at any house whether at night or daytime, is very suspect and potentially very dangerous.

  • Um, hun use your brain lol. This is clearly a scam. Even if it wasn't, any job offer that has you doubting it's legitimacy and asking Y!A if you should go is a red flag NOT to go.

    Be careful!

Job Interview Questions: What are the examples of questions in a job interview and please provide an example answer.?

Every time I have an interview my brain is always blackout. Can't think any answer. Please answer. Thank you!

Useful Tips in Handling Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
These are the basic questions commonly asked at interviews:

1. Tell me about yourself.
Keep the answer job or skill related.

2. Why did you leave your last job?
Never refer to a major problem with management or say undesirable things about your supervisors, co-workers or the organization. Keep smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an opportunity, or a chance to do something better.

3. What is your weakness?
Always try to give a positive answer. For example, "It takes me a long time to get ready in the morning, so I set my alarm two hours ahead of my time in for work."

4. What are your strengths?
Sell yourself. Say how you can be a desirable employee for the company.

5. Why should we hire you?
This is your chance to show why working for the company is important to you and why you think you will fit in. Don't mention other applicants for comparison.

6. Are you a team player?
The answer should always be a yes then cite examples. You may mention situations where you were part of a group or organization, and the activities you've had that show you worked well with them.

7.Tell me about your ability to work under pressure.
You may say that you thrive under certain types of pressure. Give an example that relates to the type of position applied for.

8. How do you see yourself five years from now?
If you answer that you have not thought about it or you have no plans yet, the interviewer could conclude you have no vision and goals. Say something that is achievable but not too low as this could imply you lack initiative. It should be consistent with the objective on your resume and the skills you mentioned you have.

9. What are your expectations from this job/company?
You will be able to answer this question well through company research and self-assessment. Think as if you are already part of the company. You may say something like, "I expect challenging tasks."

10. Do you have any questions for me?
Always prepare questions, but those that are not answered in the company's website or those you have not discussed. Asking questions shows you are interested to know more about the company or the job.

Get to Know the Common Answers to Job Interview Questions

  • Beangie-

Surprisingly, most companies ask the same kinds of interview questions depending on the level of the position you are applying for. I've provided a link below which lists the top 10 interview questions, along with a good answer for interview questions.

The key to not being so nervous in your interviews is being well prepared. If you know in advance what kinds of questions you could be asked and if you've prepared your answers, you'll do fine.

Good luck with your interview. Hope you land your dream job soon.

  • I had an interview Friday for AMC. Some questions asked were:
Describe a time you were tired, but still had work to complete:
I said: A few days ago, I had a big day at school, with tests and such. When I came home I had chores, I did them with no problem because work comes first.

Describe a time somebody was mean to you and what you did:
I had trouble with the one! I kep stuttering. At first I said, I treat everyone with respect therefor people treat me with respect. Then she was said well was there ever a time? And thats when my brain shut down! So I said to her: At the mall, I ran into a few people that were mean to me, but I just step back and I never let it get to me.

Describe a time you saw somebody breaking the rules:
I also had trouble with this question, It took me a little bit to think of an answer to this question. I ended up saying my school has a strict no hoodie and cell phone policy. I saw a few students breaking both of these rules, so I told them to remove the hoodie, because there would be consaquences.

Describe a time you did something without somebody telling you to do so:
Both of my parents work very long days at work. So I cleaned the house, because when they come home from work they both feel very tired.

It was my first interview, not to sure how I did. She said she would call me back by wed the latest, but good luck (:

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear to a job interview?

Hey Guys,

I'm eighteen years old, and I have a job interview tomorrow for a cleaning position at an accounting firm. I'm thinking slacks, and a polo.

Job Interviews Should Be As Easy As Trying on a Pair of Shoes

  • with clothing like that, you'll be ignored and refused in minutes. Smart suit and tie, black socks and shiny black shoes and of course, neat clean hair and looking your best. Slacks and a polo, aw man ... you'll not be successful getting this job wearing those. Dress smart, smell good for the bosses and you'll go far. Wear slacks and the wrong clothing and you'll be kissing this job interview goodbye.

  • Always overdress for interviews (something nicer than you would actually wear to work every day). Wear a nice collared shirt, if you have one; if not, a polo shirt would be fine. Make sure everything is clean, ironed, etc. Good luck!

  • I have heard that you dress like what you expect to wear on the job. But I have always worn at least a tie and most of the time a suit coat, so I wear fancier than the job calls for.

  • First impression goes a long way. It never hurts to over dress.

Guy- Button up shirt with slacks, black shoes(non-tennis shoe)
Girl-Button up shirt with a nice slacks, shoes that are non tennis also

  • dress for the position you are applying for. Pull hair up in pony tail allow the interviewers to see your face.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear for a job interview at KFC?

I have a job interview at KFC tomorrow, don't really know what to wear? Please help.

10 Biggest Job Interviewing Mistakes

Recommended Answer:
Wear a suit and tie. You will make a first impression before you even open your mouth so you have to look professional... and clean! If you have any dirt under your nails or any other signs of poor hygiene you will never get a job in an establishment which sells food. Good luck!

How to Prepare Yourself for a Job Interview

  • You may want to try a giant horse costume. The boss will greatly appreciate that you have done your research and that you found out they use horse meat instead of chicken. As long as you wear the costume, you'll be hired!

  • I wore jeans, a t-shirt with a zip up hoody to my interview and got the single greatest job ever - KFC Delivery! Don't overdress. Be clean, speak clearly.

  • I'd go with business casual, although if you wanted to go the full suit/tie it's better to overdressed than underdressed.

  • A colonel sanders costume...that would make a great impression lol
