Job Interview Techniques to Land Your Dream Job

Recommended Answer:
Five years from now I would like to be: *** A good answer for this question would be one that shows you have goals or at least some kind of direction and/or you're willing to work hard for what you want in life. Ex: Five years from now I would like to be finishing up my college degree at the University of XXX

What do you want to do? *** They just want to get to know a little bit more about you with this one. Answer that honestly, tell them what you'd like to do eventually-- as long as it's not something like "I'd like to become a blood-sucking vampire" any answer is pretty much safe!

Position applying for: Crew member is the proper title for employees at Cold Stone

Job Interview Questions: What is a good response during job interview when asked to explain personal flaws?

would like to hear some that dont sound to rehearsed or lame...like " i work to hard" or
"I put my job ahead of myself"...they see right through those..

Self-Speaking Lies About Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
Employers are mainly looking to see how you handle this question. Everyone has their flaws, but they are looking to see how you handle those flaws.

Obviously saying something like, "I'm never punctual" or "I'm a bit lazy" is probably not the best response to this question.

They key to answering this question is finding a way to take a flaw and turn it into a positive. For example, instead of saying "I can be impatient" you might say, "When I see something that needs to get done, I tend to jump right in and start working on something. If there is something I know I can handle and work that needs to be done, I want to jump in and finish the task. There are times when it is best to wait to complete a task and sometimes that can make me a bit impatient."

That is just an example, but I think the key to answering this question is turning it into a positive. Find a way to tailor it to the job you are interviewing for. If it's a sales job, something employers love to hear would be "I hate to lose" or "Sometimes I can be really competitive." Find a way to turn it into something positive and you should do fine.

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview at a Mentally ill day care?

I want to know what are some things i can say to get the job. They will ask how would i feel if the people threw crap or hit me...
What should i say about those scenarios?

Learn to Answer Job Interview Questions and Get Your Dream Job!

    Recommended Answer:
Ideally, they're going to want someone who 1) really understands how mentally draining and taxing this kind of job can be, 2) knows that they can still deal with it and 3) has a positive view of the work.

So, rather than saying something like "It's no big deal if they hit me", say something like "I know that will probably happen sometimes, but I it's important that these people still have someone to help them, and I'm committed to that."

If you downplay how much it hurts/offends when things like that happen, they will think that you don't really understand the job and assume that you will not last. It's also good to know how you will calm yourself down if you get angry or upset, because you can say "If ________ hit me, I might feel hurt or offended, but I always remember to count to ten before reacting, and that helps me to be more effective in dealing with a situation"

Also, make sure they know that you understand that things that might be easy for you are difficult for the people you are watching, so you don't mind if you have to repeat something several times before they do what you said, etc.

    Hope that helps!

Job Interview Questions: Should I lie on my job interview?

This is going to be my first job interview and I'm having trouble trying to get a job because most places I know would deny anyone who's just seeking for a summer job. My siblings told me to lie and say I'm just not working for the summer. But I do not know, any suggestions?

What to Do Before, During and After a Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
lying is just a STUPID idea and eventually will come back to bite ya'
the types of employers that will consider your application regularly hire for the summer only..............

your problem getting a job is going to be your maturity and the fact that you are considering lying does not bode well for you.........
grow up quickly, to get a chance you must be able to show through words and actions that you are NOT like most minors who are looking for a job, many employers have had bad experiences with minors as employees, you are going to have to prove you deserve a chance.

Some Common Job Interview Weaknesses and How to Address Them

      • I think you need to step back for a moment and think here.

First of all, what are you planning to do over the next year or two?

If you have a long term career aim , and are making plans to get qualifications for a particular type of career, then you may want to look around for work or an internship that will help you to gain some basic experience in this field. In which case the role will be expected to only be for the summer.

If you're looking for a way to make some easy cash for the summer, then many of these kinds of jobs are often taken by students and companies expect them to leave or go part time when education start again in the autumn.

On the other hand, perhaps you're going for a job that has longer term prospects, and you'd like to leave your options open- if the job works out, you stay, if it doesn't you go back to school/college/uni.

So- I don't know how old you are, what the job is, or anything about your situation, but do give the whole thing some thought.

In any case, any job will have a contract you sign, that states how much notice you should give of leaving- might be a week, 2 weeks, a month, and if you give the agreed notice then you are free to leave.( the employer has the same rights to give you notice to leave). So don't feel guilty about leaving, as long as you give the agreed notice!

PS making a big assumption here that you're school/college/uni age- otherwise why would you only be looking for a summer job!

      • It's never a good idea to lie. If you do, and then you leave at the end of the summer, they'll be pissed--but more than that, you wouldn't get a good reference, and you never know what could happen down the road. Maybe someone from this place knows someone at another job you interview for, or even ends up working there. You don't want to get the reputation as a liar.

      • if you could lie and get away with it and also lands on the job than do it but if you think you might get caught than don't. It all depends most retail hardly ever do any kind of background check so you anything you say is ok, but if anything else I would not recommend. Morally you should not but hey can someone really go on a day with out lying?

      • What difference does it make if you tell them you plan to stay when you know yourself its temporary? They can't do anything, and of course nobody will hire you if you say you only want to work temporary. So yes, lie you fool!

      • I would lie. If you want to quit at the end of the summer just make something up. Give them 2 weeks notice and leave in a positive light.

      • say who you want a part time job, then quit & say school got too hectic to maintain a job

Job Interview Questions: How long does a job interview generally take?

My husband had an interview scheduled at 2pm.... It's now 3:20 and no word from him yet... Do you think this is a good sign?

PQ: ummm... What time do your kids take a nap?

      Recommended Answer:
It depends but longer interview is a good sign. My interview for my current job was like almost two hours

      Top 10 Job Interview Disasters

      • It could be a good sign. The hiring manager (or whoever) may have been running late or they could be showing your husband around the place, letting him see what he might be doing and stuff.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter doesn't normally take naps anymore. If we have to get up early and go somewhere she might fall asleep in the car on the way home but if we're home all day, she doesn't nap. I can't remember the last time she did LOL.

      • It could be good or bad. If he's still in it, that could be good, but if he's not and he's just out running errands... I dunno. I think the average interview is about 30 minutes.

PQ: It varies... she's only 2 and a half but doesn't really take naps anymore. If she does, it's around 3, honestly. A bit late for my liking, but it's when she falls asleep. I guess I don't mind since she goes to bed at 8:30p even when she DOES nap.

      • I have been into TONS of interviews and I've done TONS of interviews. An interview can last between 10 minutes to a couple of hours, IMO. He could possibly be waiting to start the interview if someone was running longer in a previous interview or he could be in the interview impressing their socks off their feet. You won't know until you hear from him. Good luck to you both!!

PQ: My son naps for two hours from 11:50 to about 1:50 (times vary, but normally they are the same)

      • Well, from my own experience it normally takes about 15 to 20 min. But, it can take longer if the interviewer is interested in the interviewee. It is also possible that the interviewee got asked to start working that same day. GOOD Luck & GOD BLESS

      • The interview doesn't take that long, but maybe theyre making him wait and he doesn't want to be on his phone.
I've only had a couple I think it took like 30 mins? One 15 mins.. It depends what kind of job I guess.

BQ: Riley is falling sleep right now is 12:26 pm here..

      • Any interview beyond an entry level position takes at minimum an hour, and an interview that is going well I'd expect to take 2 hours or more.

My kids no longer nap. The 3 year old has "quiet time" at daycare, but she doesn't sleep during that time period.

      • This seems like a long interview. But the more they talk to you, the more likely you can sell yourself. Yes, it's probably a good sign.

      • I'd say that's a good sign...maybe they're going over job specifics or something. Good luck to him.

PQ: Um...it varies day by day. Sometimes 11, sometimes 1230-1.

      • Depends on how well you're doing :)BQ- She usually take her first nap around 11am.

      • Most job interviews take less than 30 minutes. Maybe its a good sign!

PQ: My daughter is 8 and doesn't take naps anymore.

      • I've seen my boss interview people anywhere from 3 to 7 hrs. That includes a lunch and a tour of the plant.

      • Longer interviews are a good sign!

      • It can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the position and the wait.

You obviously never had an interview before...

As she is the manager she has the final say and. this interview might just be a formality or a precaution to get the thumb up before hiring you. It might also be the way they hire people. The first interview selects a few applicants that meet the criteria they are looking for and/or whom the guy feels the manager would approve of.Then the manager picks the one she finds the most suitable out of the ones that passed.

Job Interview Questions: What should I say during a job interview?

I have a job interview with starbucks this afternoon, I have worked for them before:

If they ask what did I like: should I say: I liked making seasonal drinks- like summer fun so it can get my creative juices flowing..

My favorite drink was the Caramel Machiatto b/c it was the most colorful. or does that sound stupid?

What could I say if they ask: what do you think you could contribute to our company?

            Behavioral and Situational Job Interviews

            Recommended Answer:
Let them know you could convey enthusiasm about their drinks, which will come across to the customer. Let them know you are great working with the public and that the job means a lot to you. Let them know you are reliable, on time, accurate with orders and that you have a smile on your face while you are working because you enjoy making seasonal summer drinks because you find it fun and that it gets your creative juices flowing, as you say. Tell them you work well with the other employees and that being a good employee is important to you because you value working for Starbucks. Find out what Starbuck's mission statement is, do a little research, and quote that on the interview.

            Common Job Interview Mistakes

            • Tell them you loved working with customers and were able to make what they requested. Focus on the customer, thats big for any interview. Also, focus on your strengths, what you are good at.

            • the colorful comment is something you should say because it shows your personality and what kind of person you are. but talk a lot about what you do for fun and show how you are unique rather as other people who are possibly having an interview. make sure you stand out. :)

for the last question just say how you can do whatever is thrown at you and that you never quit at whatever you do. something in that kind of wayy. you know?

              good luckk.
