Sales Job Interviews - The One Basic Mistake That Will Ruin Your Interview

    • I would suggest some sort of suit. Nothing extreme, lick basic black or grey. As for the color of the blouse, I would suggest something like a basic color like green, red or blue. White is also another good idea.
As for how or more ideas what to wear, look at some fashion mags, or clothing catalogs like Victoria's Secret or something.
Remember to get there about 10 minutes early. Good Luck!!!

    • At any job interview, you should look professional. I would suggest wearing a skirt suit, or at least a pencil skirt, with a blouse, but since it's a fashion boutique, add slight unique items.

Perhaps wear a ruffled or patterned blouse instead of a plain white one, a colored suit instead of a black one (you probably can skip the jacket and just wear a pencil skirt, actually, although it never hurts to overdress - lots of people assume that dressing like the employees is appropriate but it's usually not), a pearl necklace with irregularly shaped pearls, slightly trendy earrings, or shoes with slight flair. Nothing too over-the-top, but subtly fashionable and noticeable. Only pick a few accessories though - your look should still be based on clean, sleek business-like attire. Make sure that your outfit is a well-fitting too. It doesn't have to be a modern cut, but should fit well and not be super outdated. As for shoes, wear heels. They can be kitten heels or 3" heels, but make sure that you can walk properly, they aren't too ostentatious, are reasonably business-appropriate, and you'll be fine.

      Take a look at these:

Good luck! And remember - your confidence, poise, and manners matter more than your outfit! :) Wear the clothing, don't let it wear you.

    • I would wear a black high waisted skirt,
without the elastic at the top, and long enough not to look slutty.
I just got a really good one last week from express for $20.

And then wear a dressy shirt tucked in, or even just a tee it still looks cute, but also high fassion at the same time.

Then you can wear a cardigan if you want, you dont have to though.
      www.wetseal.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=33560

& then if you wear heels, that will make it look more formal, but if you can't(like me) then wear flats or gladiator sandals.

The question is: if you get the job, and they don't allow tattoos, will you be able to cover them up and still do the job? If you wear a uniform and it's short sleeved, how will that affect the situation?

    • Many people get stuck when they are aiming to decide what to wear at an interview. Myself I'm from the old school, I believe that formal wear is never inappropriate; you can get some instruction from the resource in the box below, they also have plenty of stuff on job hunting.

    • They may or they may not. However, if the job does not allow tattoos, you will be terminated as soon as someone notices that you DO have a tattoo. If you did not want to be concerned about such things, you should have put your brain in gear before you laid out money to have an ink artist permanently apply art to your appendages.

Job Interview Questions: Heels or flats for a job interview?

Tips to Ace Your Insurance Job Interview

    • Depending on the type of place you're going for an interview at, I believe at a more conservative place with conservative bosses, I suggest you wear some nice black flats or some heels with just 2-3 inches heel. I think if you're going to work in a hair salon, I'd say go for heels since you would be standing for a long time and you don't want to kill your feet.

    • Pick the one you can walk in quickly and the one that is comfortable.

For me the high-heels are uncomfortable and make it difficult for me to walk. I prefer the flats because you never know when you may have to walk a ways to the conference area or go on a tour of the salon.

    • Flats, they look more professional, but if you really want heels, nothing more than 3 inches

    • flats,
they;re comfortable, stylish, and casual, you don't want to seem to formal/trashy(depending on the heels)
      goodluck!

    • it depends on where the interview is at... i personally would go for heels but thats cuz i'm short and i would like to come off as perfessional that way when i shake the hand of someone taller than me i can look them in the eye

    • try a fancy sandal, or a very low heel. For more fashion tips or questions check out my channel :) hope it helps!

    • i say FLATS! ;)
they're more comfortable and makes u look easy going and cute.
and goood luck on the interview!!!! :D

Job Interview Questions: Job interview Thursday - what should I do with my long hair?

I've got a job interview on Thursday and can't decide what to do with my hair - 4 inches past shoulders:

    1. Go to a salon have it trimmed and wear loose?
    2. As 1. but have it put up / ponytail
    3. Have it cut in to a Bob for a more professional look
    4. As 3. but go for a Pixie

Must admit that the idea of cutting my hair is pretty appealing!

    What do you think?

Tips For Job Interviews - Information You Need to Know

    Recommended Answer:
I spend a lot of my time interviewing and i would reiterate what somebody has already said ' all of the above are acceptable as long as you don't spend the whole interview either playing with your hair or pushing it out of your eyes'.

In that respect you may find certain Bob styles mean hair goes in your eyes when leaning forward as much as a long style.

One thing to consider: A few months ago I interviewed a girl with long hair which was styled so that it didn't go in her face. When she came back for a second interview her hair had been cut in to a really pretty, short pixie - I remembered her after this transformation and she ended up getting the job. In the current job market it's worth trying anything to make sure you are remembered!

    • I really like number 3 and 4, but I'd go with either a ponytail or a ballerina bun. Since it would be a job interview, you shouldn't really look so fashioned, unless it's going to be modeling or designing or something. Just simple yet elegant and pretty good-looking hairstyle.

    • What you do the night before is put a large smear of vaseline in your hair and back comb it. Leave it in overnight and your hair should be shiny and curly the next morning ;)

    • i think have a little trim, and get them to put it up in a pretty simple bun slightly to the side... very professional looking and elegant, don't cut your hair you will only regret it .. :)

    • either tie it up in a high pony tail r a bun .if u want to cut it, cut it but make sure to keep hair out of ur face cs that looks unprofessionall

    • If you don't want to get it cut you could always put it up into a smart looking bun.

    • Go fuh the ponytail make sure your hair is not in your face and smile ;)

    • dont bother cutting it, just put it up in a really nice ballerina bun

    • A job interview shouldn't stop one from making a DRASTIC change in their hairstyle, but if you have long hair teach yourself to style it up, to look more professional. Mine is down to my knees, and I can easily style it 7 different ways a week. Takes 2-10 mins. I've posted 27 in 11 months. There are so many inspirations out there: American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, PROM & fashion magazines. Just turn on the TV and find more inspirations, and try to see if you can incorporate their styles to yours. I use claw clips often, add fabric flowers. I make tons of those to help non-profit org.

I've had mine cut Princess Di's hair style once, it looked good on her, but because of my hair texture, HATED it on me.

The only advice I can give you? It's only hair. If you don't like the pixie cut or bob style, you can always grow your hair again. You'll never know how it looked on you, without trying it.

I am for long hair now. I had more problems and troubles with short hair, and I looked like a boy. I have sons, and I don't want to look like one of their sisters when I'm with them. I want to look more like their mom. My short hair is over, I had that all my grade school life and won't look like grade school or like all the Seniors @ the center - where I do volunteer work.

If you do decide to cut your hair shorter, make sure they're wrapped up saved in paper. I guarantee you, they will never be that long, healthy and color again.

Example of one who cut her hair too short:
ok,so my god mom is a beautician and just did my hair and cut it SO short it is exactly how i did not want it and school is tomorrow.

Job Interview Questions: Is this OK to wear to a job interview?

Suppose a woman (early 20's) was a cheerleader in high school, and she still has her uniform and it still fits her. Would it be OK to wear it to a job interview if she wears pantyhose with it?

Critical Mistakes To Avoid at Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
Why would anyone consider wearing a cheerleader uniform to a job interiew? Definitely wear the pantyhose, but something a little more appropriate like a skirt or dress would be better.

    High Paying Job Interview Tips

    • If you just want to wear pantyhose during interviews then go right ahead. But try to put them with a professional-looking office/lawyer kind of outfit, or perhaps something you would wear to church or a wedding.
The cheerleader outfit may only be good for an interview with a place like Hooter's.

    • Why in the world would you even consider that? Of course, you don't say what type of position you are seeking, but it certainly wouldn't be appropriate for anything I can think of.

    • No it shows a childish mentality better suited to middle school

Job Interview Questions: Was this too long to wait to call after a job interview?

I had a job interview at the local supermarket back in February and they said they'd call me back in a few weeks. I kind of forgot about it :S and now it has been almost 2 months since the interview. Should I even bother calling back? I've never had a job with a big company before so I don't know what to do.

    Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

    Recommended Answer:
you could call them back, but Im not sure they would hire you, because their the ones that didn't call you. try finding other local supermarkets around, if they don't call, keep searching and don't give up. your can try 99 times but the 100th time you'll get the job.

Job Interview Questions: What shoes should I wear to a job interview?

I have a job interview at a grocery store and I was wondering if it would be okay to wear black flats??

Countdown to Job Interview? Know What to Expect and Launch Your New Career

    Recommended Answer:
lol rather then focusing on shoes, try checking out your resume and make sure it's professionally done. And of course you should be aware of the type of job you are applying for..

Good luck with it, and as long as your presentable you will get it for sure!

Job Interview Technique - 6 Tips To Get Yours Up To Scratch

    • Assuming the rest of your outfit matches, black flats are just fine. A grocery store is a different work environment than say a bank. So it's ok to dress down more. Even a nice pair of sneaks is ok! The goal is to look presentable. So as long as you look nice and professional, you'll be ok.

And fyi, to the expert who said you should focus more on your resume than your shoes, let me say this. More and more interviewers are zeroing in on one's footwear! And the reason is because that tends to be the one overlooked detail among job seekers. In other words, job seekers will check their resumes, tops, pants, makeup, hair, ties, and jewlery. But they'll often forget about their shoes. Yes, they'll match. But they may have forgotten to polish them up. Or they'll have lots of creases or look like they've been work hundreds of times before.

This is something I've mentioned to job seekers who've attended my free job hunting workshops. So to all of you out there, don't forget to check your footwear because lots of interviewers will immediately look right there!

    • just make sure that your clothes are clean and are acceptable for a job interview as first impression count. Just don't wear shoes that are too casual, like sneakers or thongs or sandals ... black flats would be good, if you are wearing pants ... not jeans ...

    • Yes, that's exactly what you should wear!! (:

    • absolutely yes. No high heels

    • yes, those are perfect!

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview ?

I have a job interview at friendly's coming up, so Im wondering what would be appropriate to wear. Its only frienly's so I wouldnt think that I would have to get all extra dressed up. Im pretty sure that you can tell that its my first job interview, so feedback would be much appreciated.

Is Your Body Secretly Sabotaging Your Job Interviews?

    Recommended Answer:
Pants and a nice blouse. Your right, if you're working at friendly's you wouldn't normally wear that attire but for the interview, definitely yes. Just look dressed nice, showered, hair done, a little makeup, maybe a pair of earrings or a necklace, nothing big or fancy, just look like you take good care of yourself so they think you will take good care of your job and customers. Good luck to landing the job!

What is Absolutely the Best Day to go on a Job Interview?

    • Well don't look horibly over dressed but don't just wear jeans. Wear like a nice aeropostale top or abracrombie or hollister, then wear your hair cute but not overdressey or anything. Then wear something like shorts or pants or capris, if you're wearing shorts don't wear it to short look nice and maybe put some perfume on then maybe add some lipstick a bit of blush and if you have light hair wear mascara. If that helped please star mine as best answer!!!

    • Don't know what kind of job that is but a buttoned up plain colored long sleeve shirt, dress pants (khaki or black pants), dress shoes, clean shave and haircut will surely increase your chances. Don't be chewing gum either. And if your a girl....do the same as it applies

      Good luck!

    • its never too casual. black trousers and some casual style top, but not necessary white shirt always helps in this situations. Look neat you will be fine. :)

      Good luck!

    • Something casual but not too casual. maybe some dressy kaki pants and a cute sweater.

Job Interview Questions: What should one wear to a job interview to work at a 5 star hotel?

My brother got a call for a job interview and he said they told him to dress appropriately as if he was to work for the hotel. He said he's gonna wear part of his tuxedo, like the white shirt, tie, black vest, slacks, and dress shoes. I thought it was a little weird that he's gonna wear a black vest, it makes it too fancy. But maybe that's how it should be. Do you think it's good or what do you recommend?

Techniques To Avoid Job Interview Stress

    Recommended Answer:
While men may have less variety when it comes to workplace attire, they also are subjected to more stringent definitions of what is appropriate for the office. When it comes to deciding what to wear on an important interview, in almost every situation the more conservative the suit, the better the choice. Very few men can wear suits right off the rack, and you should always take your suit to a tailor to ensure that it fits you properly before wearing it on an interview.

    Navy Blue
Choose a two piece, solid colored, matched suit constructed from wool or a wool blend for your interview. Navy blue is a dark blue color. Do not wear a powder blue suit or a bright blue suit, or try to match your jacket with pants that are another color. Buy your pants and jacket together, so that you can ensure that they are exactly the same shade of navy blue. Unless you are interviewing for a job in a creative field such as graphic design, you should choose a jacket with two or three buttons. Four buttons may look too trendy and adding a vest looks ostentatious.

    Charcoal Grey
Charcoal grey is a dark grey color. For men, lighter colored neutrals such as dove grey and tan are seen as too informal for a job interview. Traditionally, black suits are seen as too flashy. Even though other men in the office may be wearing these colors, you need to wait until you are actually hired before you start experimenting with your look. At an interview, you want to be remembered for your qualifications and what you say, not how you look.

What to Wear with Your Suit
Choose a full-sleeve, button up shirt in white or light blue, even if it is summer. Wear a conservative silk tie that is no less than 3 1/4 inches wide. According to Career Builder, image consultants recommend a red tie for a navy blue suit or a burgundy tie for a grey suit. If you want to wear a tie with a pattern, choose a subtle pattern. Do not wear a tie with cartoon characters on it. Wear black socks that cover your ankles, and black leather shoes with a matching belt. Carry a briefcase or portfolio with you instead of a backpack or loose papers, and remove any jewelry other than a wedding ring or watch.Read more: The Best Color Suit for Men to Wear on Interviews | eHow.com www.ehow.com/list_6860795_color-s…

10 Job Interview Tips That Will Help You Make a Good Impression

    • As long as he wears a normal tie (tied with a Windsor or half Windsor knot) rather than a bow-tie then his outfit is fine, though slacks seem a little informal, he should wear formal trousers but not evening trousers (ie with a silk stripe and most certainly he should not wear a cummerbund or braces but a belt), he will probably have to dress similarly if he gets the job.

    • To any interview, you should wear a shirt, tie, suit jacket and pants. Not a tuxedo. That is prom. You wear a suit. First impressions are huge. They will probably tell you that you are overdressed, and they will tell you to dress down, but they will love to see that you are formally dressed. Works every single time. Wearing a suit shows class and sophistication.

    • He should wear black trouser (ironed) White shirt (ironed) black blazer (ironed) and a tie with a appropriate shoe, no trainer

    • I would just wear a suit.
