Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview today, do you think it would be inappropriate to try and hide my baby bump?

I really need the job, it's not anywhere fancy; just retail.
But would it be wrong to hide (or try to hide) my baby bump.
I just want to get the job without them taking one look at my belly and telling me no.

A Guide To Common Job Interview Questions And Answers

Recommended Answer:
I don't think so....

They could never prove that you hid it from them...

Job Interview Rehearsal - The Benefits of Mock Interviews

  • As long as you aren't concerned with coming back to work after the baby is born, go ahead and hide it. There will come a day when they will notice and probably be pissed about you hiding it to begin with, but they cannot fire you for being pregnant once you are an employee.

  • i dont know how you're going to hide a baby bump at 7 mos. but i dont know anyone who would hire a pregnat women cuz if they hire you, you're only working 2 months then out for 6-8 weeks then they gotta deal with child care issues. but if you could hide it then good luck. oh yeah and be careful cuz lets see if you do get hired, then they find out you lied/hid your pregnancy then they can terminate you. a lot of times in the contract and interviewing process, there is a clause that says if you are knowingly hiding something than that can be grounds for termination which would be perfectly legal. then you would have to prove you didnt know you were 7 mos preggers, which would probably be pretty hard to do.

Job Interview Questions: For a job interview, they ask and how would you respond?

In a interview, if asked, "If asked to do something that wasn't in your job description, what would you do?"

i would finish everything i had to do in my job description and then i would make what was not in my job description no problem at all.

This is a tricky question, they want to know that you are a person who is willing to take extra responsibility but you dont do this by leaving your actual work behind

Get to Know the Common Answers to Job Interview Questions

  • is it a union shop?

if not. say "I would do it". It is always better to do it, then ask why later.

Employers hate to hear "it's not my job"

However, if you are in a union and that task is not in your job description or is assigned to another department, you would hold off on doing it until you knew full well you are supposed to and that they can ask you to do it according to the contract in place.

  • I would do it if is in my area of expertise and will not take time from my initial responsibilities .

Job Interview Questions: What are some important questions to ask employers in a job interview?

I found ton of books in public library on interview techniques. I want to ask fellow members who might have a input or experience.
Business Analyst role.

Job Interviews - Six Blunders to Avoid

Recommended Answer:
I always advise job seekers to focus on three types of questions:
1. Questions that show you did your homework -- for example, a question based on a recent article that mentioned the employer.
2. Questions that show that you are listening & thinking.
3. Questions that combine 1 & 2. (I recently read in the Wall Street Journal that your company is implementing PeopleSoft. How are your business analysts involved in making this project successful?)

Finally, ask questions that show that you are curious about how you can help the company succeed. Good luck!

Job Interview Questions: Is it okay to mention that you're gay during a job interview?

I'm about to graduate college and I will be going on a lot of job interviews. I was wondering if you think it's okay for me to mention that I'm gay. Not to like blurt out that I'm gay for no reason, but if it's relevant to the conversation. Like if I'm talking about my triumphs over adversity or something.

    Yay or Nay?

How to Prepare For a Job Interview - Preparing For a Good Job

    Recommended Answer:
Is the company known for being progressive and forward thinking on gay rights? You can find out by researching and seeing if it offers domestic partner benefits or has an employee gay and lesbian group.

If a company is more conservative then I would not mention that if you expect to get the job.

What field of work do you seek? Some fields of work have plenty of openly gay people. Others do not. Even if a company is progressive on gay rights, it may be in a field where being openly gay is not something people do.

You have to play this company by company. That is one option.

Now if you choose to make it known you are gay, then boom, it is out in the open and the company knows who you are. That makes coming out at the office much easier. That is not a bad option per se because you don't have to deal with coming out.

So it all boils down to how much you want be out in the workplace and which companies are more likely to treat that as a non issue.

3 Steps to a Great Job Interview

    • The generic answer is know your company (capitalize that).

If the company has a reputation as pro-gay, yay.

If the company has an anti-gay reputation, politely decline the interview (or don't pursue).

If the company has no public reputation or you are unable to determine one before the interview, nay to begin with. Concentrate on other aspects of your vibe for the company and their pro-vibe for you. If things progress, look for an occasional opportunity to bring such things up generically -- if you get an "all clear" vibe, then go for it.

    • There's no reason for either you or the interviewer to bring it up. If you do, you stand a good chance of not getting the job. Not necessarily because the interviewer doesn't want to hire gays (although that's quite possible), but because he felt it was a faux pas on your part to mention it.

    • I would say no. Unless the company is pro gay.
I understand you want to be proud and list it as an accomplishment but I wouldnt because they just might turn that into something against you. they may use it negatively to say your gayness would affect your ability to do your job (which we know is not true).

    • there is no need to bring it up in most interview scenarios.

If the person interviewing you for some reason volunteers the information, then maybe, but otherwise you open yourself up to being judged.

Your sexual orientation is your own business and is not subject everyone.

    • if you are straight you don't think about this question, it is irrelevant. its your personal space being intruded! you should be hired by your skills at work not in bed!

    • Who or what you have sex with is not as important as gays think.Keep it to yourself until someone asks you.

    • No. Dont volunteer any extra intel.

Why interview for a job your parent doesn't want you to have, and thus likely wouldn't allow you to work even if they agreed to hire you?

Don't waste your time or the interviewers time, unless you would be allowed to work the job if it was offered to you. In other words, get your mom to okay you working if they want to hire you.

As for ditching school, as long as you aren't missing any important classes then I see no issue in that regard.

    • i think that it is worth going to the interview because that means if you do get the job you will have some cash flow hahaha.
even if your mom doesnt want you to have the job, its your decison, but i dont think that you will get into that much trouble, just write a note or something and get exscused.

    • When I was at school/college they allowed you to have the morning or afternoon off if you told them you had an interview to attend. Just inform the school of where you are going and it should all be fine since they can't exactly stop you. Good luck with the interview~

I'm 19, and the only job I've held for the past 5 years has been a dishwasher job that I didn't interview for.

What should I wear and how should I prepare for this interview?

I only got 2 hours of sleep last night due to random insomnia - should I take a nap before I go?

    thanks in advance.

How To Shine At Your Next Job Interview

    • Yes, try to plan for some shut eye before you go. Be sure your personal hygiene
has been maintained (shower, teeth, deodorant, hair care.) Dress in business appropriate attire such as khaki pants, no jeans. I would choose a button-down freshly pressed shirt, tucked in. Clean tennis shoes are o.k., but better would be a loafer-type shoe. Be joyful, pleasant and sincerely interested in the job you want.
