Job Interview Questions: First Job Interview, help?

I have a job interview today after school at a small retail store in the mall. Anyways, I was just wondering what type of questions the interviewers typically ask? And any tips of what else to do would be fantastic. Thanks so much!!

Job Interview Advice

Recommended Answer:
Be calm, you have talent and skills and you will need to represent yourself well

Be sure to have a few questions about them (you are interviewing them too to see if you are a good match for each other)

Be confident and if it goes well, make sure you ask for the job or at least find out what their time line is for telling you their decision

Be well dressed, being overdressed with a job is much less embarrassing/painful than being underdressed without a job

Job Interview Questions: Commonly asked questions at a job interview?

I've never had a job before and i've been applying for part time jobs in my area. I've had a few interviews before but i'm pretty sure I bombed them. So if you could provide some commonly asked questions with some answers you think would be best that would be a great help.

Questions to Ask Your Interviewer in the Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
What are your strengths and weaknesses? (Don't say a bad weakness like "I'm lazy", but you need to have some sort of answer for this because if you say "I don't have any" then they'll just think you're lying to sound good)

Do you have any problem with the hours of operation of our business?

How often do you think you will be absent?

What do you think of people who are constantly tardy?

Why do you want to work here? (It's always a good idea to research the company, but be realistic in your answer.)

TELL THE TRUTH! Every manager I've ever worked for LOVED when potential employees were true to themself and just told the truth.

    Good luck!

Well first of all pick your outfit today so tomorrow you don't have to be thinking on what you would wear.
Second be there like 10 minutes before no one hour earlier that will make them think that you are desperate. Try not to show that you are anxious. Stick to answer the questions he or she ask you don't talk about anything they haven't ask you and neither talk personal stuff.

Well thats everything I can come up with right know... hope I could help and good luck.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow at United Health Care?

      I have a few questions

What should I wear for the interview (clothes and shoes)?
What other things should I bring to make me a better candidate?
And any other things I might have missed.
P.S. I do not have very good clothing right now, but I am going to buy some clothes.
      What should I buy?

10 Important Words to Remember in a Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
Wear conservative business clothes. If you have a business suit, that's always best. If you don't, then you can wear any nice dress, skirt or pants. If you have a blazer, great. If not, maybe a nice sweater. At the very least, your clothes must be clean and ironed, and they should fit without being too tight. They should not be flashy, low cut or too casual (no jeans, sweats, shorts, sneakers or flip-flops). Shoes should be street shoes. Tasteful sandals are fine; casual ones are not.

Hair should be clean and neat. Style it however, but try not to be too outrageous. Piercings should be free of jewelry, if possible (earrings are fine).

Bring a purse with your picture ID, birth certificate and Social Security card inside. You may want to bring makeup and a brush for a last-minute touch-up. You could take along paper and a pen to make notes with. This shows you're interested and organized.

List several questions you'd like to ask. Don't just ask about salary and growth opportunities. Ask about the job itself. (What are the job duties? What skills and personal qualities are you looking for? What are the upsides and downsides of the job?) If they answer all your questions before you ever ask them, let them know that.

How to Get Your Dream Job - The 3 Step Job Interview Process

      • Go to your local second hand store and look for some nice clothing. Slacks, flats, nice shirt. That's what I did. Does your state require you to have a license to sale insurance? Here it does. I would ask questions, insurance is tricky. Bring references and any certificates or paper copy of your resume if you can.

      • Be formal for the job. Not need to change your self just be confident & speak fluently.
        good luck.

Job Interview Questions: What things frustrate you? (when asked this in a job interview)?

I was asked this in a job interview and some of the question were based on a personality profile they had me do of 200 questions. I'm not sure how they got that Q or what they were looking for but most of the things that came to mind that frustrate me were not appropriate for the job. Any truth would not have gone in my favour, it was merely bullet points with no room for the interviewer to write notes.
What would you have said or not said?

Nifty Tips For Winning a Job Interview - A Must Look

        Recommended Answer:
You didn't give any questions to answer for you.

        My frustrating questions:
        Tell me about yourself.
What can you do for this company? Don't really know since I don't know what is needed for the job yet.
How would you handle a situation as they give a scenario? Don't know that because there are too many variables.
What do dislike in a boss?
What have you done that you were not asked to do? So many things that I can't think of a great one.

All questions require alot of preparation and when they ask some off the wall questions, it is tough to think of something quickly because of being nervous in an interview anyway.

Many questions are asked to determine your personality and if you will fit well with the team. Some I believe are asked in different ways to see if you will give the same answer or if you are lying.

200 questions is going overboard and no one wants to have to answer that many questions. I would expect something like that if I was getting hired for a government position such as the FBI or CIA.

Job Interview Tips And Advice - 2 Important Skills

        • I think any guidance you can secure with interview questions is always welcome, because many people certainly dont know what to expect, or indeed what to ask. There is lots of guidance re interview questions on the site in the box below, they've got lots of info to do with job seeking too.

        • Turn a negative into a positive. They wanna know if your easy to get along with, if you have a bad temper. Tell them the thing that frustrates you the most is when people cut corners and slack because you take pride in your work well done. Take THAT bossman!

        Job Interview Questions: Job Interview................?

I am going for an interview for a job that is about an hour away from where I live on Saturday. I was talking to my sister and she said I might want to rethink having a job so far away because I would be spending more on gas than I would be earning. Is a job that is an hour away worth it, or should I think about getting something closer (there really isn't much in my field that is close to me)?

I am doing it more for experience, to get my foot in the door in my career field (haven't had much luck elsewhere, so I am thinking I should take what I can get).

Things to Do in a Job Interview

        • ugh! polls and survey people come on polls and surveys so they don't have to think...
(if its a job thats really good for what you do, go for it. you could always quit if the drive is too much of a hassle.)

        • The way the job market is, I'd take what I could get. You can always change jobs once the market opens back up.

        • Whatever you can get now, take it....!!

        • getting a job closer is better and save on gas
but if you need the money go for the hours drive

        • wrong category

        • closer

        • Figure your milage and gas..then your pay...thats all I'll say.

Working in Retirement: Job Interview Preparation

        • Dress appropriately. Be relaxed, be yourself. Be prepared to explain why you want to work for them and what you know about their company

        • look them in the eye, have a firm hand shake and make sure your fly is up (not necessarily in that order)

        • Dress appropriately
Go in there knowing a good amount about the company
Ask questions to show you're interested but not too much
For some reason they get pissed when you say "um"
Don't sit down before the person giving the interview

        • 1. Ask Intelligent questions
          2. Research the company first.
          3. Tell them why they should hire you.
          4. Do not just sit there and give short answers. Look alive.

        • Just one tip: wear a conservative outfit. Limit the jewelery and please remove any marks from your shoes. I am attempting to transfer my male rules to a female interview. The idea is make the focus on you and not a loud dress or a plaid sports coat, in the case of a male.
