Job Interview Questions: If the first job interview goes bad, is it normal to just pass you on to the next person?

You have interview with 4 people. First interview went bad...is it normal to pass you on to next person? Wouldn't it make more sense to not send you to next guy?

Job Interviews - Interrogation Or Discussion? We Know Which We Prefer

Recommended Answer:
It depends on what was conveyed and what happened. I also don't know if you are one of the interviewers or a candidate who thinks the interview went bad. If it went so-so like nothing glaring but just not great, then they may just continue just to not embarass you, since you knew you would be interviewing with 4 people, one right after another. They would just bear with it, AND they may want someone to make sure it really was bad. This would be things like traits (if the person was obnoxious - you can't politely tell people that they don't fit into the culture of the company) or a bad interview (like when the person doesn't interview well).

If it were obvious, then someone might tell you. For example, one time I was being interviewed, but they were interested in some specific skills that I didn't really have, and it was obvious. After the first interviewer was through, he left and then came back to say that they were looking for the specific skills that I didn't have and that they would be ending the interview. So I left.

Job Interview Questions: Waiting it out or contacting, for job interview?

I received an email from XYZ company about being considered for a second round interview. My problem is that, in the email, it states that they'll contact me within 2 weeks and its already past 4. Should I contact them back or just wait it out? I don't want to wait much longer nor do I want to bother them in the middle of the decision. What should I do? Thanks again for the help!

What You Need to Know About Job Interview Questions

Recommended Answer:
Unfortunately, you've really waited too long. Once it was two weeks and one day would have been the appropriate time to send an e-mail (with their e-mail still included). You should immediately send an e-mail at this point to inquire about your status as a candidate. Also, you should definitely check your Spam folder in case somehow they notified you (perhaps from a different e-mail address).

  • It can't hurt to contact them asking if you are still in consideration for the position.

Fair enough you may have given a good interview to your potential employer, but how many others are on their list for interview.

Job Interview Questions: What to wear to job interview?

Well I have a job interview for a customer service position at Eastbay tomorrow. I was thinking either between a black button down shirt tucked in with some upper buttons open or a black Express polo along with tanish khaki pants. Which of the two shirt options would you wear for this type of job? If this helps, the dress code for the job is sort of "casual"

Job Interview Process 101 for First Time Job Seekers

    Recommended Answer:
Wear the dress shirt with the khaki pants. If you have a sport jacket, put it on. Always dress up for an interview. You can remove the jacket when you arrive. If you're a gentleman, wear a necktie if you have one.

Make sure your shoes are shined.

Have a FIRM handshake, look the interviewer in the eye, and state your full name. Make sure your resume is on one page. If you're interviewing with a company and can carry one of its products, it will make you look even sharper.

    Self-Speaking Lies About Job Interviews

    • You are interviewed for a customer service position, you better dress appropriately. You don't have to be trendy or flashy. Dress comfortably, dress shoes, tie, sport jacket and shirt. Make sure you are clean shaved and well groomed.

    • I would say the black button down but make sure you put a jacket over it.

Job Interview Questions: I'm afraid to tell people about my job interview in case I don't get the job?

I have a job interview with Google next week (via phone), and I'm really nervous and would love some guidance and support from my family. However, I'm too scared to tell them about it in case I don't get the job. I guess I'm just one of those people that's really reserved and easily embarrassed, so I'll feel really stupid in front of everyone if they all know I failed. Is this a normal feeling? What should I do?

Job Interview Answers That Lead to Success

    Recommended Answer:
Even if you don't get the job your family will probably be proud of you for trying so I say there's no good reason not to tell them. Not getting the job doesn't mean you are a failure. Often in life we have a few false starts on the way to success.

And maybe you'll get the job so any embarrassment would be a moot point.

Job Interview Attire - How to Choose the Right Career Clothes For Your Job Interview

    • That's a completely normal feeling. You're worried that they'll view you as a failure if you don't get it, right? Well think about it this way: their support could help you feel more calm and confident when you take the interview. Say you take it and don't tell them, and sadly don't get it, then what would you do then? It'd be much better to tell them. Since they're your family and you feel that they could give you guidance and support, they understand. They know how wonderful you are, and won't judge you if you don't get the job. During a recession, it's very hard to get a job, so many people have to go through with this. But, don't worry about it before you go in! Get the guidance/support you need, and be confident. Confidence is key after all.

      --Good luck!--

    • well, i dont tell people beforehand either as i find it kind of jinxes it

I'm the GM of a restaurant and I've heard every possible excuse. Here's what you need to know:

Do you need to come in for your shift late or leave early to make the interview? Give them as much notice as possible and tell them you have a doctor's appointment. Stress that you don't want to call off, but you have to make the appt.

If its in the middle of your shift, go to work, look extra sick and keep running to the bathroom. They'll let you leave!

Job Interview Questions to Ask Potential Employers - The Do's & Don'ts

        • Just tell them you have some sort of appointment (doctor, dentist, car, etc) to get to.

If you have kids tell them that one of them is sick, needs to be picked up from school, dropped off at daycare, etc.

Otherwise you could always call in sick, take a vacation day, personal day etc.

        • If the appointment is at the beginning of your shift, just come in an hour or so late and be all, "ooops, I read the schedule wrong!"

DO NOT tell them you are interviewing.

        • just say that you have personal business that must be resolved.

Also, how should I act and say. Should I act really into this job and saying things that make it seem like I am? I really don't know since I've never been to one.

        Recommended Answer:
I'm sure some nice (non ripped up) jeans will do with a casual shirt, not a t-shirt, but not a blouse. Also, don't act over-qualified. Be calm and collected. Seems like you are worried to much. It's a job at a grocery store. I'm pretty sure it won't be that hard to hit. They will ask you like why do you want this job, etc. Just be yourself. You can't really "study" for a job interview. Just be honest with your answers. They most likely won't ask you anything you don't know. Bonne Chance

Job Interview Answers That Lead to Success

        • You can wear jeans if you want. Just make sure that these are decent. If you want to use leggings, you can do that as well. Just make sure you choose a decent top and nice flats. This somehow says casual but smart. Also, make sure that you have your resume ready and that you can provide them with references.
