Job Interview Questions: My first job interview at A&W restaurant, Need advice!?

I'm planning to dress in a white/blue striped dress shirt and blue jeans or black dress pants. This is my first job so I'm gonna be kinda nervous but have to stay sharp. What kind of questions would they ask? How should I answer them? I live in Canada by the way, if anyone can help or give any kind of advice it would be really helpful, Thanks.

Job Interviewing Skills: Increase Job Offers With Effective Communication!

Ahhh yes great question:

What are your 3 biggest strengths? For this one I would suggest you say Multi tasking, Calm under pressure, and a hard worker - customers will expect these 3 things from you

What is your biggest weakness? For this one I would suggest you say something bad that's also a strength such as I work too hard (for this is a weakness in that you don't just work you work too hard but it's also a strength because your ready for any challenge. Another response is I am sometimes too enthusiastic but it's a strength because it's contagious

Why should I hire you over someone else? For this one I would suggest you say I'm loyal, easy to manage, honest, and hard working. The reason for this is managers eat this up, they like to be in charge but they also like someone they can manage.

If you were an animal which one would you be? This one is rarely asked but it might be, think of an animal that has the following qualities : Hard worker, brave, resourceful, team player loyal, etc. Some great answers are an ant, an eagle, beaver (don't laugh), dog, or a cheetah

Tell me a time you provided great customer service. Okay they may ask this, even though it's your first job. Try starting with helping others, charities, etc.

What makes you a great team player? For this one I suggest you think back to a club you were once in high school or outside on a baseball team or other sport or an academic team. If you don't have those go for how you help your family.

As for your atire, Dress to Impress. Go all out. NO NOT ARMANI :) but definately BLUE dress shirt, TIE, Black pants, Black shoes. The reason for blue is it's a positive color and says alot about you. RED usually evokes anger. Plus, as a future store manager (which is what goes on in their minds) they don't want someone leading the store who doesn't even take his/her appearance seriously.

IMPORTANT - remain calm, picture this person as just another person, it's like talking to a teacher or a friend. Don't be nervous, no matter how needy you are for cash, just focus on being articulate, clear, and intelligent. Don't say UM or EH phrase complete sentences and you'll rock this.

Oh and don't let anyone tell you good luck, in my opinion the word luck makes you feel like you'll lose so just keep in mind Do a great job and know many people have been in your situation at least 3 times in their lives so just know you are not alone. It's already over just go it my friend. Just do it.

Job Interview Questions: During a formal job interview, how can you prevent your brain from becoming all jumbled?

causing you to no longer be able to even speak or comprehend anything from excitement and stress?

How can you maintain your cool and yet be friendly?

Job Interviews - Do You Really Want the Job?

Recommended Answer:
Maybe you need to accept that your particular brain just IS jumbled....

How to Bounce Back From Job Interview Rejection

  • Do a practice run. Have someone else do a mock interview on you with the intention of throwing some of the toughest and off the wall questions at you to prepare you for anything. Maybe do 2 or 3 runs with different questions each time. If you have a range of ideas of how to answer the oddest or toughest questions then you'll be more prepared and less of a jumble.

  • by getting a good nite's sleep the nite before and being nourished with healthy food. minimize the caffeine and sugar before the interview and brush your teeth no more than an hour before. lay out your clothes the night before, be sure everything is pressed and clean.

do your homework about the company and write down a few talking points. review your resume closely to remind yourself about your best quals and how to discuss.

when you have done all these things, you can have a feeling of confidence that will translate into your demeanor.

also carry a handkerchief, if you have a tendency to sweat and dab your face before the interview...

  • Lots of rest the night before, eat a good breakfast, don't bring a watch with you.

BTW, be honest and real. They can smell a fraud a mile away.
Also, if you're a woman: If you're uncomfortable in a heavy blouse and jacket, go with a dressy-casual top instead. I've won more jobs being qualified, comfortable and personable -- just someone they can envision would get along well with co-workers and a pleasure to be around -- than anything else. And being comfortable instead of in tight, ill-fitting blazers have made things much easier. For me, at least.

  • I read some good ideas(except have a few drinks first) alcohol on your breath is not a good thing at a job interview. You might also look up some typical interview questions that are often used such as "tell me about a time you had a conflict with a co-worker and what did you do"? "Where do you see yourself in 10 years"? Plan ahead how you might answer such questions.

  • You can't. What most people don't know is that employers use a brain-scrambling device to throw you off your game, while secretly videotaping you and later laughing about all of your ridiculous answers with their colleagues.

  • If you can't, I won't hire you. Deal with it. An interview is likely to be the easiest task I ever assign you. Seriously.

  • Have a couple of drinks before your interview

Are heels a must ??

Four Job Interview Mistakes That Can Torpedo Your Chances of Success

    Recommended Answer:
1- take out your lip ring
2- you don't need to wear heels. wear some type of sandal (like gladiator sandals) if you're not comfortable with heels.
3- if you're applying at a store, i don't suggest wearing a suit. You could wear a nice, stylish dress. Or a chic shirt tucked into a plain skirt with gladiator sandals/heels. you could even wear a pair of leggings with it (like this: 4.bp.blogspot.com/_zrXbuBtYK2s/Sw…
4- if you need to buy new clothes for the interview, Forever XXI is a very stylish and extremely affordable store.

and relax. hope this helps :)

Job Interview Techniques Tips - What Techniques For Job Interviews Do You Need?

    • Put a clear retainer in your lip (You can find them at most body jewelery stores) you will probably have to get one anyway if you get that job, also, don't go all out on the make up and clothes.
They aren't going to hire someone with heavy eyeliner or caked on foundation, try to keep it natural in the work place so you don't freak customers out.

I say a nice pair of black slacks along with black heels, and a cute blouse (try not to make too big of a statement with the shirt, nothing too crazy) with a small, dainty necklace.

    • You can never go wrong with a suit. Either long pants or a skirt, with a nice blazer. Decorate the outfit with nice jewelry- earings, big necklace - and take out the lip ring, no offense but that doesn't represent alot of sophistication! I think heels are a must, even if there only a few inches.

And please dont mind...but I think you need to take out your lip piercing. Pair this dress with black flats and whatever jewellery you feel like wearing as long as its black and silver.

    • TAKE OUT YOUR LIP PIERCING!

read the best answer for this question :D

    • Go to the store you are trying to get a job at, and notice how employees there dress and the general atmosphere of the store. then take that up a notch or two. For example: if the store is casual and employees wear jeans with holes in them, you can wear really nice jeans to the interview. Or, if the store is nice and everyone wears nice jeans or khakis to work, wear dress pants or a skirt.
Labels don't matter, you can buy clothes at goodwill and as long as they look good no one cares what brand they are or where they came from.
heels are a good way to dress up an outfit regardless of what clothes you are wearing so I would wear heels as long as they are not distracting.
As for accessories, notice also what kind of accessories employees there wear. if you see people with piercings working there already, leave the lip ring in. If not, take it out. If they wear lots of dangly earrings or other jewelry, then feel free to accessorize a little for the interview, but don't go over the top.
Just keep the focus on making a nice, good impression and looking like someone who could easily adapt to the standards of that store. Then the manager or person interviewing you does not have to use their imagination to figure out whether hiring you could work out or not - they can just "picture" you as one of their employees.

Job Interview Answers - 5 Of The Most Common Questions Demystified

    • I went on my first interview at Walmart today. I applied on Sunday and they alled me on Monday to schedule my interview for today. It lasted about 30 minuted and I interviewed with the department manager. He asked me a couple of behavior questions. For example: Name a time when you had a disagreement with a supervisor how did you get them to agree with what you thought was the right thing, or name a time when you had to speed up to meet a deadline, but did not make it. After the interview he had me sign some paperwork and then we walked over to the department I applied for and he discussed the position a little further. Then he said that I had the best interview all week and he wanted me to meet with his manager for a second interview and he would give me a call. I thanked him for his time and flashed a huge smile. About the time I got out the store and to my car he was calling me. I have my second interview tomorrow morning. He told me to bring two forms of id so I hope he makes an offer. Good luck to you and I hope this helped. Also I was very nervous and I didn't think I did well but I acted very confident and smiled a lot.update us!!!

    • I had to take a test when I had an interview at wal mart, but that was about 8 years ago.. it might still be the same,, there really was no interview, just the test and it was 'graded' most a multi choice test..

Keys to a Successful Job Interview

    • Khakis and a decent blouse (but not something you're afraid of ruining) seem like a safe way to go. If you overdress, they may think you're too prissy or no smart enough to wear something sufficiently rugged, but if you under-dress, they may think you're a slob who doesn't care about her appearance or the company's image. Yeah..khakis seem safe. ;)

    • Whatever you do, please do not wear your birth day suite! LOL

Job Interview Questions: What will my job interview be like?

I have a job interview coming up and it is by phone. But the reason it is by phone is because I couldn't be present for a face to face interview. It's an on campus job, so students are employed. I was wondering what sort of questions will be asked in this sort of situation and how to handle the phone aspect of it. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Three Secrets of Winning Job Interviews

    Recommended Answer:
No joke, answer with a smile - people can hear your emotions through the phone.

Be organized. Have dates of previous jobs, if any, and at least 3 references, personal and professional, with phone numbers and addresses at the ready.

Be ready to answer questions like, "tell me about yourself." which does NOT mean go into your life and how much it sucked. It means, "tell me what you can do for me and this company." Be positive and upbeat, but be truthful. when asked, "name a circumstance where you were put on the spot. What did you do," be honest, again, but tell the interviewer what you learned; i.e., "Since then, I have learned to be more communicative, and to listen more attentively. That experience has helped to make me much better at meeting customer's needs." You'll also hear, "What's your worst weakness?" Name it, but put a positive spin on it. "Well, I'd have to say that my worst weakness is I tend to get impatient. On the other hand, I guess it means I have a ton of energy, and sometimes I need to stop and take a deep breath."

    Hope this helps!
