Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview?

I'm going for a job interview at a clothing store. I'm 17 years old. I was planning on wearing a pair of black shorts and a nice shirt. My dad thinks I should wear a skirt. Now I do agree I should look nice. But a lot of skirts I have a dressy skirts. What should I wear. Any ideas?

Questions to Ask During a Job Interview - Make Sure You Cover These!

Recommended Answer:
You didn't mention what store, but it is always best to dress up for the interview.
In this case your dad is correct, a skirt or dress, with nice sensible heels and pantyhose.
Do some online research about the merchandise the store carries so that you can answer questions about the customers that shop there.
Relax and make certain to keep eye contact with the interviewer.
You've got this in the bag... congratulations... you're hired!

Job Interview Skills Tips - Sample Interview Thank You Notes

  • Wear something you'd wear at the clothing store as a worker there. Go visit a store and see what they're wearing!

I've never seen a clerk wore shorts, except at a sporting store in Hawaii where everything is laid back.

Wear a dress or skirt & jacket.

  • If you're interviewing at a clothing store, make sure you wear their clothes! Also remember its better to be over dressed than under-dressed so look your best. Idk what type of clothing store it is, but if they have long skirts or pencil skirts wear that, otherwise their black or khaki pants.

  • something causual something like a dress with a causaul top part maybe that is white and i black lokking pencil bottom but a cute dress would work oh for your shoes maybe some white and balack heels or some black or white heels&jewerly pearls will hit the spot and your bag maybe a cluch

  • black shorts, and a pink shirt if you have one and a pair of black or pink flip flops dont wear a dressy skirt

Job Interview Questions: Is it to late to send a thank u card after a job interview?

My interview was Tuesday at noon is it to late to send a thank u email tonight?

Lethal Job Interview Mistakes

Recommended Answer:
No absolutely not, it will be appreciated. You should send it, 2 days ago isn't bad anyway. If it was Saturday and you were saying this, yeah that might be a little too late, but something is always better than nothing. Send it as soon as you can. [:

Assorted Job Interview Techniques

  • Nope. I would send it right away.

An alternative is to send a card in the mail -- sometimes it helps to give the appearance that the reason you haven't thanked them yet has more to do with buying stamps and envelopes than it does with your carelessness or interest in the job.

However, given that the soonest that a card would arrive would probably be on Saturday -- and then it wouldn't be received until Monday at the earliest -- I would just do email instead. The longer they have to wait for it, the longer you are out of their minds.

  • depends --- when did they say they would make a decision? if it was a few days/weeks - SEND A REAL THANK YOU NOTE! email thank you's are not taken very seriously. Send a real written thank you letter - white stationary and not a hallmark card - you may not get the job - BUT you will get remembered - and ultimately someone will remember you with a job offer.

if it was more like we will be making the decision in a day -- send it anyway and it will remind them of your interview - time lines often don't work out the way they were planned... and next time mail it the night or next morning after the interview. Write it in ink, legibly and proof carefully for errors -- that can kill your chances as well.

  • No, it is not too late, 2-3 days is a good turn-around on sending it. If you send it the same day, the recruiter just goes oh, that's nice, I remember him, and sets it aside. Send it a couple of days later, the recruiter goes, hmm, do I remember them? Maybe they do, if they don't, they will probably go back and have another look at your resume/application/interview paperwork. Which never hurts.

  • No, send it.

depends on what job you're going in for.....i mean if youre going in to be a cashier or something along those lines then I think it would be ok to just wear jeans and a nice shirt......but if youre talking like a corporate job in sales/marketing/etc. then you should dress up nicer

Job Interview Questions: Why during a job interview would i be asked to pop packaging bubbles?

keep in mind this was a panel interview for a famous construction company. the job was for an engineering position. was this some psychological game? i was asked to do this right at the end of the interview, right before i was asked if i had any questions for the interviewers. any thoughts?

Prepare For Your Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
My guess is that they're trying to determine what kind of problem solver you are. If you pop the bubble one by one, they will probably think that you're careful and meticulous. If you twist it up and pop a bunch at a time, they'll probably think you work quickly, but you may not be very careful.

I don't particularly think that this would necessarily be a valid way of assessing an applicant, but if I were to guess why they did this, that would be a likely explanation.

Job Interview and Preparation Coach

  • I would guess that a psychologist has convinced someone in upper management of the company that how a person pops bubbles demonstrates some trait about their personality. Often how it works is some shrink will get in good with a top executive and sell them a bill of goods on their wacky theories. Or maybe some top executive about it somewhere. So, yes it is a psychological game and I hate it when hiring companies do that. It doesn't necessarily mean that they are a bad company to work for...at least I hope not.

  • Psychological GAME, no. It was a psychological TEST. In ANY job interview, it is normal to have questions designed to help the interviewer(s) understand HOW you THINK. this would be especially relevant for an engineering job.

Did you pop the bubbles in rows?
Did you ball up the bubbles and squeeze?
    Did you randomly pop bubbles?

All of these give clues to your STYLE of thought that are not easily found though direct questions.

  • Yeah...did you ask them why they wanted you to pop the bubbles ?

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview at a Sony Centre on Saturday - Advice? [10 Points for best answer]?

I'm very eager to go to this job interview, and I have had past experience with them. I currently work as banking staff caterer at a private hospital. Unfortunately, I do not receive enough work to make some good money to support me as a nearly-18 year old.

I am currently an A2 student in the UK, studying Computing, ICT, Biology and Chemistry. The guys in there seemed to be impressed by the fact I do computing and ICT.. and I'm a girl.

I would greatly appreciate any help on:

    - What to wear (But please elaborate, not just 'smart clothing')
    - Make-up
    - How to impress
    - What to say
    - How to make a good first impression

Every answer will be appreciated, and the best answer will receive the 10 points as promised in the title.

What To Do During A Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
Hmm, not sure about the appearance parts, but i'd do some research on the company just in case they ask you if you know any knowledge of the company.
When you meet the interviewer firmly shake their hand and give them a smile, and ask how they are- just a casual conversation. Hope that's ok.
    Good luck :)

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow at Steak N Shake. What type of questions will the interviewer ask me?

This would be my first job. I don't know what to expect so someone please help me out. I just need to know what type of questions they will ask me. I'm only 17 years old.

How to Ace Your Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
They may ask something like, "Why do you think you are qualified to work in this position?" I own a small business and I suggest a few things. Use proper English grammar, no slang, Leave your cell phone at home. Tell the interviewer that you will always be at work 10 minutes early and be ready to start working at the time your shift starts......not walking in exactly on time.....actually working on time! But then you have to follow up and do it.

Dress well, don't dress as if you are going to a party. Don't say "like" when it's not needed in the sentence. Act like an adult and prepare yourself mentally by realizing that not getting the job is not the end of the world. Try to be calm rather than nervous. Don't chew gum. Look the interviewer in the eye when you speak and when they speak to you.

    Good luck
