Job Interview Questions: Is it OK to turn someone down for a job interview?

I was recently scheduled for a job interview. I showed up on time, had nothing apparently offensive about my apperance, but was told that I would need to wait 15 minutes due to business. After 30 minutes, I was finally told I would 'be called back'. This has never happened to me before and I consider it highly unprofessional. What do you think?

You call them to schedule. This will shock 'em! They actually might appreciate your call. I bet you will get the interview. Then decide.

• This happened to me too. I was called for a second interview, but as soon as I got there, as I was approaching the interviewer, she is like "you cannot do (a certain thing that caused them to drop me)..." They had already made their decision about me before I got there. I was wondering why they called me in the first place.
  I guess they decided they would rather not waste their time since I am already unsuitable. But yes it is highly unprofessional, but I don't think they cared, since I was probably less professional than them (being 1 out of 100 candidates applying daily)


• Something might of came up and they had to deal with it. It's nothing you did, this does sometimes happen, but don't wait for them to call. I would just let it go and keep looking.
  
  You already have a bad impression about the company because the way they treated you, so go with your gut feelings about working for them.
  
  I would suggest to you if they do call again, it's not a bad idea to back for the interview. If anything it gives you better experience in handling your communication skills. You can always turn them down. Good Luck.


• If you had personal contact with someone prior to the interview, you could politely call and ask about what happened. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps someone got sick or there was an emergency and "telephone style" that's the way the answer came to you.

• I personally would not take the job in this case because I agree, its unprofessional. But it also depends on how much you want the job, if its just a small job to pick up a little money then I would find somewhere else. There is always someone looking for work.


• Well, it sounds like something unexpected came up in the office. We're all human, crap happens. Don't take it personally, I'm sure they will apologize when they call to reschedule.


• same thing happened to me i waited 3 hours once, but ya they should apoligize and then you decide if still want the job i turned mine down after that tho
