Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview today and am pretty sure they will offer me the job?

However, I had a another interview a few days ago and that job is the better of the two.Is it appropriate to contact the place I had the first interview with and let them know that I have an offer but would prefer a job with them?

Four Job Interview Mistakes That Can Torpedo Your Chances of Success

Recommended Answer:
you should do both Interviews and tell them you took another job if applicable. They'll understand.

Job Interview Issues - How To Dress To Match The Interview

  • The place you're interviewing at today probably has a few other candidates, so it's unlikely that they'll offer you the job during the interview. If they offer you a job, you don't have to accept or decline right away. You can tell them you need a couple days to think about it. At the first interview, did you ask them when they'll be making their decision? If not, you can call them about a week after the interview to ask if they've made a decision. If both places want to hire you, don't try to negotiate a higher salary with the first place by using your second offer as a bargaining chip. They might call your bluff.

  • I wouldn't tell them about any previous interviews, the company you are NOW going to an interview for may figure that you aren't really interested in THEIR company. I know it sounds silly, but a lot of employers don't understand that people need to interview with 2 or more companies, because not all will offer jobs.

I'd just go to the interview, prepared, with resume in hand and knowledge about the company. You want to know the company's motto, culture and some important information about them.

If they offer you a job right after the interview, thank them and tell them you are really considering working for this company however, you have another job offer from a different company (I wouldn't say you're waiting for a job offer from the other company), and that you need a few days to think it over and would that be ok? If they say no... then it's your choice at that point. Take the job you know that will hire you but isn't as good, or wait and see if the company you already interviewed with calls you back. If they say it's ok to think about it, make a decision within 3 days and call the company.

Either way, you should call the HR department or hiring manager and see if you are still a candidate for the position.

There is an excellent ezine article that tells you actually what to say when calling the HR dept or hiring manager when you don't get a call back. I've included that link with my answer.

Good luck! I know how hard good jobs are to come by. I wish you the very best and hope you get the "better" job!

  • I agree, go to both interviews and see what they have to say and what offer (if they make an offer) then you can decide which opportunity is better.

If he/she hasn't called you in a week, you can call and say you are very interested in the job and was wondering when they might be hiring, or whatever you are comfortable asking. If they don't respond positively that's all you can do. And it's always a good idea to apply at two or three places anyway, so you might want to continue your search while waiting.

If you do call next week, that's all you should do. No more calls or letters. It's their turn to call you if they are interested after that.

this job isn't office work or anything so you don't have to be extremely warm. Wear a collar t-shirt and jeans will be fine. You can even wear shorts, but nothing too flashy.

    Job Interview Techniques

    • For a job interview you should always overdress for the job. You're trying to get the job and you want to make a good impression. For job like this a collared polo style shirt, long pants-jeans are fine and shoes-tennis shoes are good. While at the interview you can see what normal work wear is, that's how you can dress if you get hired.

    • t-shirt, flip-flops, no pants. you'll be sure to get the job.

      Succeeding in a Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
Why do you want to work for culvers? Why should we hire you? Do you have any friends or family that have ever worked for us? What hours will you be available? How will you get to work? Have you ever stolen anything? Do you have any experience that will help you in this job? Do you feel nervous? Have you ever been fired from a job? Why? This is pretty much what you can expect. So if you took a pencil from some kid in first grade, just look them in the eye and say you never stole anything. Good Luck!
