Job Interview Questions: What to say at a job interview?

How should I respond when an interviewer asks me "What are you weaknesses?" and "Why do you want to work for us?"

I have my umpteenth interview at a credit union tomorrow, and those are the two questions that I can never seem to answer very well. Any suggestions?

Job Interview Preparation Tips From an Experienced Manager of Sales Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
for 'why do you want to work for us' i always say that i would love the expierence with working with a company such as this, i think it can teach me alot and i can offer it alot...blah blah blah it all depends on where and interview is. but something like that..that shows you want to learn from them and you are serious about your future.

'what are you weaknesses'..thats a tough one. i usually go with "i'm a perfectionist" (LOL) cause from a coorporations point of view, thats not really a weakness, but will totally pass as an answer. or something like " i am concerned with everybody getting their job done right, and sometimes my peers dont appreciate it..." but you know managment appreciates it..but thats borderline sucking up. again, it all depends.

good luck!!!

Job Interview Training For Managers - Will's Story

  • What are your weakness?

    A. I sometimes tend to focus on a goal and may work at it and be so determined to get it after others have given up or that they think that it may not be worth it after a while. And I still try to go for it.

This shows that you like to work hard for your goal and even though not know when to quit could be a weakness it could be strength to.Why do you want to work for us?

    A. Because a credit union in these financial times are a valuable source to help people. I know I can help inform new and existing customers how this credit union can help them and in turn gain more members for the credit union. And in turn cross sell them more products and services.

Remember companies no matter who they are want to hear how you can help them earn more money.

    good luck

Job Interview Questions: Any last minute job interview tips?

I have a job interview in 3 hours for a job that I realllllly need to get. Obviously you can't help me in the interview, but are there any tips regarding my appearance and demeanour? Like how should I do my hair, how I should sit, should I look them in the eye for the whole hour and a half interview? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

10 Easy Ways to Be Much More Confident in Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
The basic rule is to look clean and professional. However, always take into consideration the company culture, when you are choosing for an attire. You have to look like you already belong to that company you are applying.

Maintaining eye contact is commendable during the interview but do not overdo it.

The most important thing in preparation to an interview is to know the company and the job you are applying. Nevertheless, if you do not know the answer to a question it is better to be honest about it rather than pretend to know because the interview can always throw you a follow up question and it would be embarrassing if you are found out to be lying.

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear for a job interview?

Okay so it's not really a job interview buut, i applied to be part of my school yearbook's staff and they sent me a note today saying they want to interview me & to dress professional because it'll be like a real job interview. But I've never been to an interview before & i'm not quite sure of how to dress "professional" ..i'm only 14. So what should i wear? I have an idea of something but i'm not sure...suggestions? also, if you include a picture i will love you!haha. thanks :)

    Job Interview Mistakes to Avoid

    Recommended Answer:
It's nice you're putting a lot of thought into your clothes! Well, if they want you to be professional, dress professional. Ha ha I don't mean business suit or anything, but something nice if you want to be in your school's yearbook. I would do leggings, flats, denim skirt, and a floral blouse or T-shirt. No worries, if you don't have one or more of these things, you can get them at this cheap but nice looking store:

Job Interviewing - Say This, Don't Say That - Part 1

    • Wear a skirt or pair of slacks (not jeans) and a blouse, button down shirt, or nice sweater. Oh, and don't wear sneakers, flip flops, or excessively high heels. Do a quick google image search for "womens' business casual"- anything that pops up there will be acceptable.

    • Since your a girl, I would wear dress pants and a dress blouse. A skirt may be too much. They are just helping you practice for the real thing so doing what they tell you would be ideal. Dress shoes with a little heel is fine. High heels once again is too much. I am an HR recruiter for the Real Canadian Superstore and I interview people. Dressing professionally is something I look for in an individual. It shows me they take pride in their appearance.

Job Interview Questions: What should I say in this job interview?

I'm a 16 year old girl and I applied for a job at a clothing store.
The store mainly provides clothes for women who are 30+ years old.
So anyway, I have an interview this weekend and I'm not sure exactly what I should say if they ask the question
"Why do you want to work here?"

How to Recover From a Bad Job Interview and Get the Job

    Recommended Answer:
Well, why DO you want the job. If its just because you need a job, then you'll have to 'dress up' your answer. Do a little research on the company you want to work for so you can tailor your answer.

Perhaps you like their ideals or philosophy (e.g. not using child labour), perhaps you can say you are interested in the clothing industry and see working in the retail side as a good primer for years to come.

The one answer you shouldn't give is 'because I need the money' - it makes you look desperate and unlikely to care about the job itself.

I have an interview in a couple days at Kmart. What should I wear?
&what should I expect at the interview? (this is my first job).

Mastering the Job Interview - 5 Tips to Make Yourself Irresistible to the Interviewer

    Recommended Answer:
    it depends.
wear some thing that shows your a smart person. nothing to fancy. it also doesnt have to be expesive, black pants and a nice shirt.

Job Interview Questions - How to Answer Popular Job Interview Questions

    • It depends on what you are interviewing for. If you are interviewing for a finance or manager job, then I would suggest a suit. If you are just interviewing to be a stock person or cashier or something like that, just a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt. Real "shoes", not sneakers, if possible.

    • dress like a hot model to distract the interviewer, so the interviewer gets pressured on and he will ask you simple questions. you should expect him to keep staring at you in a blank stare.

    • You can pull this off 2 ways.

      1. Dress slutty and hope it is a single old guy, lol

      2. Dress with nice khaki pants and a button down silk shirt or something in that area. Wearing no hat, maybe a regular straight or not too "dressy" hairstyle with some presentable shoes too.

    • Nothing that shows too much skin like a tank top and booty shorts lol umm i don't know what you should expect :( I haven't gotten an interview yet but I wish you much luck :D

    • If you are interviewing for a management position, look very professional. If you are interviewing for an entry level position (clerk, department assistant, or janitor) then look nice, but not too dressy, because they will think that your are trying too hard to get this job.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Job Interview Questions: Your Car driving skills used for job interview criteria?

Say you go on an Job interview and without being told, you are asked to drive the boss to do an errand and your driving demeanor is used to evaluate things like your patients, anger management and decision making skills. Would do you think could learned from this type of practice?

How to Display Enthusiasm at a Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
Interesting idea! Not sure if you're saying this has happened to you, or you're thinking of using this exercise as a way to assess candidates?

I think I'd be concerned about being the boss in this situation, putting my life in the hands of a complete stranger, in control of the vehicle! As well as obvious insurance etc considerations.

On the other hand, as you say, driving skills, attitude etc could be an excellent indication of certain both desirable and undesirable tendencies.

Just to add consideration of others, awareness of rules and regulations, awareness of the bigger picture eg the flow of traffic across the city ( I hate it when people block junctions in waiting traffic, causing an obstruction to traffic coming the other way, and wonder what they would be like to work with as part of a team), multi-tasking, concentration levels, performance under pressure, problem-solving, orientation ( being aware of one's surroundings, way-finding, map reading etc), being able to say no ( please don't ask me any interview questions whilst I negotiate this roundabout safely), planning ahead and also being able to adapt plans- the list is endless really.

Even if using this as a candidate assessment may have certain issues, any candidate wishing to demonstrate the above skills could use an example from a driving situation to show how they meet the criteria for the job at hand, as there are so many transferable skills used.

Job Interview Questions: Should I wear a suit to every job interview?

I hardly ever wore a suit when I went to a job interview. Most of the jobs I apply for are factory like and I wouldn't wear a suit while working. Sometimes I am even shown the work area after an interview. My success at getting any further than the first interview have been small. Should I wear a suit to any job interview I go to regardless of the type of work I will be doing?

Job Interview Preparation - Three Key Steps

      Recommended Answer:
For any kind of professional job, wear a suit. If you'd be working on the factory floor, non-supervisory job, a suit shouldn't be necessary but be sure to dress neatly, and a collared shirt with a tie wouldn't hurt.

Job Interview Questions: Is Wearing A Rainbow Afro Wig To A Job Interview A Good Idea?

I want to really stand out for this job interview. I have thought about wearing a rainbow afro wig to spruce up a more than likely dully job interview. Also, do you think it will be a good idea to have a little horn, so that after every sentence I state, I squeeze it twice? Thoughts?

How To Shine At Your Next Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
i don't think that would be a very good idea unless your interviewing for the circus or a clown job or something. if you want to stand out you just have to be different. if your resume is different and not plain that helps and if your answers are interesting and stand out. if they ask you something like why do you want the job or if thet job is temporary and they say something like your not going to be there for very long or something come up with a witty but professional type of answer

Take a Look at Some Useful Job Interview Tips

      • What is the situation with this horn? Does it light up, or make noise?

If so, then it's perfect. Try to make it voice activated so every time someone says something they are assaulted with a bright, noisy horn.

      • It's not a good idea unless you're interviewing to be a Clown. Or you're bald.

      • If you don't want the job then yes.

      • Dont forget your red nose!

      • wear a couple of dillys around your neck in the shape of a cross also

      • Nope, you wont get the job.. That's 4 sure'

      • no. you will look like an idioit. the only way to stand out is to BE YOURSELF.

      • yes!

you'll be guaranteed to get the job with that wig on!

      • yeah!! great idea!!!! I would definate hire you over some guy in a .suit to be the clown at my party

      • Hands down yes.

      • well I approved the wig, but the horns a little much don't you think?

      • NO I DON'T THINK SO GO WITH SOMETHING SMART N SIMPLE

Job Interview Questions: Is it possible to overdress for a job interview?

I have a Job interview tomorrow at See's Candy and I really want to get it, I need a job very badly, So I typed up a mini Resume, And am bringing a business card with my contact information on it for the manager. And plan to wear a suit. do you think this too much?

      Succeeding in a Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
I wish you had told us what kind of job it is and what kind of place. If it's a candy store and you're going to be a clerk, then a suit would be ridiculous. Better to wear a nice shirt (something with a collar, either button-down or knit) and casual pants, such as chinos. Jeans would be okay if they are not faded/dirty/holey. If you were interviewing to be their bookkeeper or manager I might upgrade it a bit.

It IS possible to overdress for a job interview. If it's a hands-on job and you dress too neatly or nicely, they may assume you don't like to get your hands dirty.

On the other hand, it is worse to UNDERdress.

The best thing to do is to go to the place (or a similar one) BEFORE your interview and see what the people wear who work there in the same position you're applying for. Then you can't go wrong!

Being clean and well-groomed, speaking well, and seeming friendly, interested, and responsible are more important than the way you dress.

      The Complete Job Interview Process

      • Yes, it's possible to overdress, but that would be a female in a prom dress or a man in a tux.

No, a suit is not inappropriate, especially anywhere in the NE. The business card is overkill, dorky, and will likely get tossed.

The resume is only necessary if it's a good resume, not a cheesy mini-resume. It needs to be one page and fairly complete.

If you are worried about the suit, a pair of trousers/slacks (not khakis), a button down shirt, and a tie should suffice.

      • I don't think the suit is a good idea.
It may be possible that you will be better dressed than the person interviewing you, and this may make things uncomfortable for you both.
There is a term called "office casual" where you are pleasantly dressed, but don't look like you're on your way to an awards ceremony.
If you are neat, tidy, and comfortable, this will go a long way than someone thinking that maybe you are going to a funeral after the interview. Good Luck.

      • For a retail sales position? Yeah, probably. Skip the business card, your contact information is on the resume. And don't wear a suit unless you're applying for a management position. Wear nice pants and a nice top. You obviously want to look good, but don't act like you're applying on Wall Street.

      • I don't think it's too much, it just shows you're really serious and that the job is really important to you.

      • Always look your best. You cannot go wrong with a suit, I don't care what position. Yes, he will look more casual. but he has earned that right. You have to show you are serious.

      • it sounds like you got the job to me. but don't quote me on that. i have had quite a few interviews and did not get 2 of them. i guess i interview good. but on the 2 that i did not get, pay rate and uniform were never discussed. in my experience if you have a really good feeling about the interview and thought it went well then chances are you got it. you should call in a couple of days to see if they made a choice, it looks really good when you do. best of luck to you!!!!!
