Job Interview Questions: Flying to another state for a job interview?

Im flying to texas from maine for a job interview i already had a long phone interview on the but now there flying me down to texas for a face to face interview what do you think my chances are of getting this job if there flying me in for it and of course there paying.its a worldwide company.typically when they fly you half way across the country do then end up offering you the job?

Job Interview Skills - 9 Things You Should Never Do in an Interview

Recommended Answer:
I would say so. I mean, why would the company waste money flying you half way across the country if they weren't really interested. You have nothing to worry about.
Good luck at your interview!

Job Interview Success: 6 Tips to Get You the Job You Want

  • The company is flying you to Texas for a face to face interview because they are seriously interested in you for the job. They will learn much more about you during the interview, and will eventually make a decision whether to offer you the position. Remember they are very likely also inviting others to Texas to interview, and that you are in competition with those others for the job.

So, you can congratulate yourself for having impressed them enough on the phone to be invited for the on-site interview, but a job offer is still not a sure thing at this stage. So, I'd advise you to proceed with cautious optimism. Use the time before the interview to research the company, and find out as much as possible about them and about the opening. Talk to people you may know who are employees there, or former employees. Make a list of questions to ask them when you get the chance. Remember they are interviewing you from the perspective of what you can do for them, and make sure you communicate that to them. But you are also interviewing them to see if their opening is a good match for you at this point in your career. Make sure you find that out while you are there.

Are you willing to move to Texas for this job if they make you a good offer? If not, don't waste their time and yours by traveling there under false pretenses.

Finally, if you are going to communicate to them by e-mail, run spell/grammar check before you send anything, or better yet, have somebody who writes well check your message before you send it. Spelling and grammar are not your strong points. For instance, you have confused there and their in writing your question.

Job Interview Questions: Following up after a job interview?

I had a job interview and it seemed to go well, and the manager who interviewed me said that things move quickly, but shortly afterward said that he would follow up within a couple weeks. I did not understand this, and I wonder if the manager did not understand it, either. I sent a thank you letter immediately afterward, but it did not reference following up.

Should I follow up with him or HR a few days or a week after the interview if I don't hear back?

Job Interview Questions: I have my first job interview tomorrow, help?

I get really really nervous when it comes to something like this, as does anyone i'm sure, and any comments would help. Thanks so much.

Job Interview Questions to Ask Potential Employers - The Do's & Don'ts

    Recommended Answer:
Wow.. first of all, congrats on the job interview! I have developed a check job interview check list that may help:

Be prepared – This means practicing answering interview questions, doing your homework on the potential employer and matching your skills with your answers for the duties related for the open position.

Dressing for Success – Dressing professionally makes the best first impression. While it may not be necessary to purchase a business suit, it is very important that you dress the part.

Don't be Late – Arriving on time for a job interview means getting to the interview location at least 15 minutes early. Indeed the job interviewer will take note of your arrival time and will allow you to review all your notes for the interview.

Keep eye contact – Making eye contact, along with a smile and solid handshake will convey confidence to the job interviewer.

Show Enthusiasm – If the job comes down to you and another candidate, this is an excellent way to stand out to the interviewer. Showing your enthusiasm for the open position lets the interviewer know that you are serious about the position and are driven to succeed.

Let Them Know You're a Team Player – Hiring managers want to make sure that they hire someone who can take direction. They also want someone that can lead a team to meet the company's objectives. Provide real work examples of how you can lead a team and also how you can be a team player for a company.

Make sure you sell yourself – It has been proven that people buy from people they like and this theory does apply when hiring someone. Remember the job interview is like a sales pitch. Have a list of your core competencies and be prepared to discuss how you have showcase your competencies in the past and they will be beneficial to the potential employer.

Always be Truthful – Never mislead the job interviewer, especially about your skills and past experiences. Most companies will conduct a background check before they hire someone and you don't want to be in the boat where they find out that you were being dishonest to them.

Be Professional at all Times – Although this should always be done without saying, sometimes people do need to be reminded from time to time. Don't chew gum, pay attention and sit up straight.

Ask Interview Questions – Asking questions demonstrates to the interviewer that you are interested in the job. So much to the fact that if you don't ask interview questions you could come off as frail and useless. Also asking questions allows you to evaluate the company so that you can make sure that company is a good match for you.

Always Thank the Interviewer - When the job interview comes to an end make sure to smile, stand up to extend your hand for a firm handshake and say “thank you. Ask the interviewer when do they expect to make their decision and if you should follow up with them if you don't hear from them by the decision date.

Job Interview Questions: How formally should I dress for a job interview at a group home?

    Heather,

This is a great question. What you have to understand is that a person will judge you beyond your physical looks, but by how you present yourself by dress, demeanor, and speech.

It's always to be overdressed then under and due to your age (since you graduated from college) you should be present yourself as professional as possible.

A suit will be great but make sure that it's something you can see yourself in the mirror and think "wow, that'll impress them." I conservative dress (length) will be fine.

Most importantly go in there with confidence. For you already preparing your outfit I know you have a level mind on knowing what is right. Now try to research and Q&A any possible questions that they may throw at you.

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

    • Tell them how you will help their business by being enthusiastic, hard working, willing to learn and apply yourself to the task at hand.

If they ask for something negative about yourself, make it a negative plus like, I really get involved in what I'm doing and time go by faster then I realize, or the like.

If the ask for experience, tell them about other things you have done that point out that you are reliable. If you use any of their products let them know how much you like them.

The Top Ten Mistakes Made in Job Interviews and How to Avoid Them

    Recommended Answer:
Depends on the job and the size of the company. You may meet with your direct boss, maybe boss + HR rep.

Most likely they'll ask why you want the job, what type of applicable experience you have, what you would bring to the company, your skills and education (yes, it's on your resume, but they will probably ask you to see how well you communicate or if you lied on your CV).

First thing to do is go in there and be yourself. Answer the questions asked, don't go off on side-stories and TMI. Be pleasant, and remember that the interview is also your chance to ask any questions you might have about the job, the company, the pay, etc.

Wear slacks or a knee-length skirt, a blouse buttoned to above your cleavage, take a light jacket, wear fresh make-up and not-too-fussy hair.

    • The type of questions will depend on the type of job. All of the post-university jobs I've had were conducted by a panel of people. Be confident, shake hands firm, make eye contact, dress appropriately.

    Recommended Answer:
Do NOT wear anything too formal and dressy. Even though wearing abercrombie kids or Hollister will make you desperate, you should be wearing it. A model is the store cashier (or an impact which folds the clothes in the back etc) wears Hollister/abercrombie kids clothing to the job.

For the Hollister interview, wear mostly Hollister (but not all). Don't wear any items that you got from a store that competes with Hollister/A&F such as Aeropostale or American Eagle. Don't wear any black. Try not to wear any make up or any nail polish. Don't wear all Hollister or it'll make you look desperate.

Wear a nice Hollister top (Navy or White) with shorts. For shoes, wear Vans or Converse (if you wear Vans or Converse, wear Hollister shorts) or Hollister flip-flops.

Same thing applies for abercrombie kids, abercrombie kids top, shorts, abercrombie kids flip-flops or Vans/Converse. Don't wear any nail polish or makeup (if you can't go without make up, just a bit eyeliner and a thin coat of mascara) and be confident.

    Good luck on the interview!

8 Tips For Doing Well on Your Big Job Interview

    • What you wear to those interview is pretty much the first test. The interviewers want to see that you've done your research and know that you should dress up as though it is your first day at work. They want to see that you are representing their brand and actually care about the position. The interview itself is pretty easy. I applied for impact at both HCo and A&F and the interview questions were the exact same so they may also be the same for the model position. Good luck!

    • Go naked.

Job Interview Questions: What outfit should I wear for veterinary receptionist job interview?

The job entails wearing scrubs on a daily basis, so obviously I won't wear scrubs to an interview, but what should I wear? I have been told that a black blazer and black pants with a collared shirt would fit any job interview but I sort of think that its too corporate for this type of job position, am I wrong? Should I go with the Black/White/Black look? What should I wear? Are wearing colors bad?

9 Steps to Job Interview Success

    Recommended Answer:
black/white/black is perfect, this is suitable for almost any interview.
As it is a receptionist position, you will need to appear presentable in the interview even if you will be wearing scrubs when working.
