Job Interview Questions: Job interview! Pregnant! Wot do i do?

I have a job interview at the end of the month and its at the same place i work but a different department, i applied fore i found out i was pregnant, do i tell them at the interview? As they will need to sort out my maternity leave wont they if i get it! I really want this job!!!

Job Interview Skills: How to Manage a Bad Interview!

Recommended Answer:
DO NOT TELL THEM!!!!! unless you are already showing =P ... once you GET the job THEN you can tell them!!

i just had a job interview w. blockbuster! (i was recently layoff from a great job =-( ) and the manager was all set to put me on the schud. and it went brilliantly .. really im over qualified for the job but need SOMETHING so was willing to take a min. wage crap job =P .. told him i will be needing some time off in the summer b.c we are pregnant THEN he says ok well im sure we will be able to work it out but like i said i still have some more interviews to go ill give you a call in a day or 2 ... no call back! i even left a few messages in case he put the number down wrong or something and still nothing ..

so my advice never ever tell them until after you get the job unless you are so far along that you cant hide it

.. best of luck on the interview and congrats on your happy news!!

Countdown to Job Interview? Know What to Expect and Launch Your New Career

  • you are under no obligation by law to inform your employer that you are pregnant till you are ready to do so and no employer can fire you for becoming pregnant. unless the question comes up which it shouldn't you can go through the interview and see if you get the job without the added information. after you get the job.. if you get the job you can tell them that you are pregnant and that your going to need maturity leave when the time comes... and if they do ask you if you are pregnant in the interview you can simply tell them that you wish to not answer that question at that time for it have no impact on your abilities for the job for which you are applying...

  • It depend on how far along you are.....if you are still early in your pregnancy DO NOT tell them!!!! Chances are they wont give you the job.....no matter how harsh that is, it happens to many many many women everyday!!! If your to the point in your pregnancy where your really showing and it only a matter of months before you would be going on Maternity leave, you have no choice but to tell them....and see what they decide they want to do.....but usually it's not the best idea to tell a future employer on an interview that your pregnant ;( Good luck I wish you all the best ;)

  • I would be honest and let them know, that way they will be understanding about you having doctors appointments and such. They can't keep you from having the job because you're pregnant, unless it recquires manual labor that is not acceptable for a pregnant woman to be doing.

  • They can't discriminate if you are pregnant so there is no reason to let them know.

  • Being 8 weeks I wouldn't say anything

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to this type of job interview?

I have a few interviews coming up for some mundane, dull jobs (the only jobs i can find :(

Basically, they are jobs like sorting, or stocking shelves , or pushing papers. Not working directly with customers. Low-skill, low pay crap-jobs.

I am used to wearing a suit - jacket and tie for my previous interviews, but now that i am joining the ranks of barely-minimum wage slaves, i dont know what to wear.

SHould i just give up and not work at all?

Job Interview Skills: How to Manage a Bad Interview!

Recommended Answer:
Had this same problem recently. I used to work business to business sales and now I am working retail. I felt stupid walking into Target wearing a suit. So, I went with a long sleeve button down shirt and nice black pants. I got the job and I didn't feel stupid in what I was wearing. Dockers and a long sleeve button down would work fine for a guy. you might be able to get away with a newer, pressed polo shirt, too.

Important Job Interview Tips to Land That Job!

  • Nope--keep dressing up and looking professional, and answering interview questions to the best of your ability, showing up early or on time, etc. This kind of behavior shows your seriousness about wanting a job and will eventually get you what you want--a job.

  • shirt, tie, and pants. No jeans.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview as a receptionist today!! Gah what do I wear?

I have an interview today for a receptionist position. What should I wear? I mean-dont say dressy casual. Should I wear jeans and a nice top? A skirt? A dress?

The Job Interview Process - What to Expect

Recommended Answer:
Do Not wear jeans.
It would all depend what kind of receptionist job it was.. but you want to dress up and look your best.
A skirt and a nice top. Or dress. Good shoes. Prim and neat.

Since you will be the first person that clients or customers see at this company-they want to see that person NOW.
You will be the first impression that people have of their business.
Before you leave, look in the mirror and say
" what would I think of a company and I walked in the door and the receptionist looked like this ?" If youre happy with it..then wear it.

With jobs, even if youre applying to be the cleaning lady, always dress up, if you want the job.
You want it to appear youre putting your best effort into this.

Can I Really Get That Job? - How To Survive a Job Interview - Part 1

  • You can wear jeans if they're dark wash and fitted, then they should be classy looking. A nice blouse that doesn't have any excessive cleavage and make sure it's slightly more loose than the width of your hips (but is fit)
And a causal cardigan over top. and wear either ballet flats or heels.
Or you can wear a pencil skirt, high waisted belt, nice blouse that kinda puffs at chest and a a simple cardigan over top. Gladiator heels would go nicely with this outfit.

  • Hi Stacy! For the post you want to attend the interview, you can wear nice dark color skirt with a light color top on it. This is the ideal dress for the interview for a women. Hope you will get the job Best of Luck!

  • ahhh interview wheree!!! ive been lookin everywhere for a freakin job man !
good luck sista.. where a nice dressy top like mid long sleeve no lowcutt. with eaither a dressy skirt kinda long kinda short or dressy pants... with high heels or cute flats.!
    goood luck!

  • It's a job interview for a receptionist, and most jobs like that they expect you to dress nicely. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT EVER wear jeans to an interview. Wear a nice pair of black/dress pants and a nice top.

  • A dress? wtf lol it's an interview not a night out...

You should wear something smart, you shouldn't find it hard to know what to wear to a job like that either...

  • Go for a hint of formal, not too much though. Wear a blouse, with a pair of black trousers, or those pencil skirt (whatever they're called)...

    Good luck!

  • DO NOT WEAR JEANS. A skirt and a nice top or a dress would be appropriate.

Job Interview Questions: Is a short job interview a good or bad sign?

My interview for a casual refreshment place was only 5-10 minutes. I think I answered the questions pretty well. Any personal experience on this? I've been receiving mixed answers :-/

How to Recover From a Bad Job Interview and Get the Job

Recommended Answer:
If you are confident about your performance, when can you start?

Preparation is the Best Job Interview Tip

  • It all depends on how the interview went.

I had an interview once that wasn't an interview: I found the manager and started talking with him, and forty five minutes later he'd hired me. I then proceeded to fill out the application.

Although they try to generalize "the interview" so that people can be told what to do, each interview situation is entirely different.

Go with your own reaction to the interview.

  • It doesn't mean either, really.

There's only so much they'd need to know for such a job.

Sometimes you will have a brief first interview as they sort out candidates, then there will be a a second more extensive interview for potentials.

Don't make too much of it yet. I've had entire orientations that went nowhere and ten minute interviews where I started the next day.

You could give it a few days, then call and try to talk to the person that makes that decision.

  • it never really matters whether u were in interview board for 5-10 min
actually an interviewer can prolong his/her interview in two cases
    1. try to find the least domain the interviewee knows when he/she was unable to answer suitably.
    2. or to find the height of the interviewee's knowledge

for ur case u answered pretty well so u does not belong to any of them....
so don't worry and be confident.

  • depends what kind of position. if its an office job then short is not good.

if its a more laid back, kinda position then its a great thing.

    whats a casual refreshment place?

  • Any interview in this recession is good!!

  • My interview for my current job was only 10 minutes. I got the job.

  • Bad Sign...

  • If you look good then it went great.

  • Good i guess

  • Was it long enough for you to take a seat?

  • if they said we'll call you back apply for a new job

Job Interview Questions: Will be 17 weeks pregnant and have a job interview?

I only have a small bump that I could hide, the reason I'm thinking of hiding the fact that I'm pregnant is because they are not allowed to discriminate against me because I'm pregnant so I shouldn't have to say anything. I really need to get a job and know that I have a great working history but I believe if they know I'm pregnant I will have no chance to get the job. What do you think I should do?

The Cafe, a Cup of Coffee and a Job Interview - A Dangerous Brew

Recommended Answer:
Everyone who tells you to hide your bump isn't thinking clearly. Look at this logically.

You are 17 weeks pregnant. Most companies have a 3 month probation period in which they can let you go for no reason. By the time that 3 month period is up you will already be 7 months pregnant and there is no way you can hide a pregnancy for that long. Even if you did, you'd be giving them notice about maternity leave in 2 months.

If I were your employer, I'd be very angry that you held the fact that you'd be leaving so soon after your probation period was up. It can only hurt your job. They may not be able to fire you, but they can make your job onerous enough to quit.

During the interview, tell them the truth.

5 Telecommuting Job Interview Tips

  • I would try and hide it (if you can). They cannot legally ask you about it but if they detect you could be pregnant and you don't say anything - this might hurt your chances of getting a job. So try to hide it well.

  • Try to hide it if you can. I know they can't discriminate, but we all know they will.
If they offer you the job, tell them only after you have signed all of the paperwork and have gotten your schedule. Then they can't do anything!

  • i would no way tell them you wont get it trust me iv been there my self 2times love

Job Interview Questions: Should employers be allowed to ask if people smoke in a job interview?

likee, what i mean is, should like people who interview people be allowed to ask if they smoke.
why or why not?

Job Interview Tips to Help You Wow Your Interviewers and Land the Job

Recommended Answer:
I don't think that whether or not you get the job should depend on whether or not you smoke. I don't think so, only if it has no effect on you getting the job. But if it didn't, why would they be asking that? =/

3 Steps to a Great Job Interview

  • Hey, I've been running from one job interview to another for at least a year.
It has been one of the most frustrating episodes of my life. No one was willing to hire me.
I was so close to giving up when a friend of mine told me about this great job interview system.
The tips that I got from the EBook were priceless. I now hold a steady position in a good company just because of his advice. I will give you the same advice that he gave me…
Read this article and you will get all the answers that you are looking for.
    Ace-Job-Interwiews.BestOf-The-Net…
    Good Luck!

    Matthew.

  • I don't think that should be question in an interview. It is our right to smoke or not. Will that hurt our chance of getting the job? Would they hire us on our skills or will they turn us away due to our smoking. So I say no,its not appropriate at all. They can say if you are a smoker there are designated areas to smoke.

  • No, because it isn't really the employers business and what does it matter? Not everyone who smokes are inconsiderate about where and when they do it.

  • yeah.If i was the employer i wouldnt to hire somebody who pollutes the air and plus i hate smokers anyway.

  • I think so.
It may be a health concern.
Like they don't want the food to smell.
And maybe because smoking is irresponsible then they think you are, too.

  • *
Whether or not someone smokes is a good measure of their intelligence and ability to make good decisions.
    *

  • NO
Its personal. have a no smoking sign board in all offices
and set aside a smoking zone for smokers

Job Interview Questions: How can I do good at a job interview?

I'm 17 and i will be applying for a job at one of the supermarkets in my town. I will probably get a job interview. I had an interview for another place a few months ago but it didnt go so well.

The Values That You Should Have in a Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
dress neatly
answer no sir (mam) yes sir
answer questions directly and don't ramble
sit up straight
make eye contact
sell yourself

The Job Interview Process - What to Expect

  • Always smile, shake hands, be confident.. and tell them what they want to hear... sometimes honesty, is not always the best policy.

  • Know something about the supermarket and the specific job you are applying for at the store.
If the store is in your neighborhood take a walk through the store, familiarize yourself with the store, and use the information if appropriate in the interview.
Be well groomed, dress appropriately(no jeans), be on time.
Speak well, speak clearly, make eye contact, show some enthusiasm, greet interviewer with a handshake, relax. If you have former work experience go over what your responsibilities were, if you had any similar work experiences let interviewer know, you want to impress the interviewer that you will work hard, that the job is important to you.
Don't forget everyone this store hires is important to the operation of the store, and they expect a good job from you.
Be prepared, bring your Social Security card, driver's license(if you have one), any government identification necessary, have with you a list of any previous work places, their address, list of your schools, address, and if you need a reference bring the name, address, and telephone number of a responsible adult reference(family friend, former employer, teacher, etc.) if necessary.
    Good luck!

  • The prospective employer should see the salesman in you even before you make your first sale.

    1. Go to the interview like you're about to face a business prospect. Learn about the prospect's needs (in the sales jobs interview, your interviewer), such as what they are looking for in a sales consultant and how you will fit in the position.

    2. Prepare your presentation as you would show a new sales idea to your bosses. Your presentation contents would be your sales experience chronologically presented in detail, including the techniques you used to arrive at your results. Highlight stories based on the qualifications a certain company wants.

    3. Find and prepare documents you will use in the interview, such as extra copies of your resume, your portfolio, and other professional works. For new graduates, never fail to bring your college transcript.

    4. Wear presentable sales jobs interview attire and arrive early, at least 15 minutes before your interview schedule.

    5. Review anticipated questions or, if you can, role-play the interview by asking a friend to act as your interviewer. It would be easier to practice answering questions this way than saying them all in your head.

Job Interview Questions: Should I go to job fair with over 50 companies or a job interview that is guarnteed to hire me>?

The job that would hire me is NCO in Rockford. TMOBILE Customer service 40 hours a week, 9 an hour. I'd be driving 500 miles a week. They are only interview till today so I said yes to the interview. NCO is known for bad work environment from previous employees with the turn over rate and how they are treated. Should I go to the interview, or go to the job fair and pass up a temporary job?

Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

Recommended Answer:
Definitely expand your horizon. If you already have the inside scoop of a company's ethics, then why waste time and energy if you feel you will wind up just like the other employees?
50 companies are a better bet. Find out which companies are going to be there and do some research on which ones you want to spring into action with.

Job Interview Questions: If you're in the middle of a job interview and the potential boss says...?

I had a job interview at a restaurant for a hostess position, I can work any hours, and the two managers were extremely relaxed and were making fun of each other and everything. Let's just say it wasn't your typical interview. Anyway, if in the middle of the interview, the main manager says, "Well, I'll definitely call you." what does that mean? Like does it mean that they'll definitely hire me or that they'll call me whether I get the job or not?? Also, the interview was like 25 minutes long, and was more in conversation form, than nothing but questions.

Job Interview Questions: What type of questions do you think I'll be asked at my KFC job interview?

I have a job interview later, and I'm pretty nervous! I'm just scared that I won't be able to give them the "right" answers I guess.

    Master Job Interview Skills

    Recommended Answer:
In today's employment environment there are 3 critical steps that must be taken 100% of the time to successful land any job. Unfortunately, more often than not these simple steps are not taken.

    1) It doesn't matter weather the position is for a janitor or an engineer you must take the time to figure out what is important to the employer.

    2) You must be prepared for the unexpected when it comes to questions and general conversation.

    3) You will be amazed because once you have done your homework your stress levels will drop and your confidence will rise. This will put you in the front runners position no matter what the experience level of the other applicants.

You should always dress according to the employers style. If it's a casual position/employer then dress casual, if it's a strictly professional position/employer then your attire should be professional. More importantly you should always no matter casual or professional error on the conservative side....never over do it or wear extremely bright colors.

Employers hire those that respond to questions effectively and appear confident over experience the majority of the time.

This can almost guarantee your success with any job....

Job Interviews Should Be As Easy As Trying on a Pair of Shoes

    • Are you reliable? Describe an occasion where you were under pressure. How do you think that incident helped you? Are you comfortable taking direction from others. How well do you feel you work under pressure?

Good luck with your interview. :)

    • My advice is go to the appropriate section. In your case, go to Careers and Employment, and ask there

This really isn't the appropriate section technically, and also you won't get any serious answers here

      Good luck

    • Either can you play the xylophone, or if we run out of chicken, would you mind letting us cut you up, bread you, fry you, and sell you?

    • Are you okay with working with murderers?
What happen in the kitchen, stays in the kitchen.

    • "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

    • Hi Rachel
      You're cute

    • do you like chicken? haha

    • Just show that you're friendly to people. That's all fast food places want.

    • lol what the first guy said

    • how many extra chickens will you serve to black people

Job Interview Questions: I'm going to have my first job interview tomorrow.any tips on how to handle anxiety?

I'm going to have my first job interview tomorrow.I feel anxious, nervous but at the same time excited.can anyone give me some advice on how to handle anxiety during interviews? Thanks in advance.

10 Easy Ways to Be Much More Confident in Job Interviews

    Recommended Answer:
Make sure you have an early night - no doubt your nerves will stop you from sleeping so well so the earlier you go to bed the better.
Before you go to bed but not in bed you should go over some typical interview scenarios in your head. Imagine yourself answering confidently.
In the morning have a good breakfast and make sure you allow plenty of time to get ready. You don't want to be rushing around making sure you are ready and get all flustered. Also plan your journey to the interview well - make sure you know how to get there!
At the interview try to relax. They will understand that you are going to be nervous. If you're feeling particularly flustered try sigh-breathing - take a deep breath and let it all out in a sigh, relaxing your body as you do. Answer questions slowly and don't be afraid to take the time to think about an answer before giving it. If all else fails and you're particularly anxious, just remember that it's only a job interview and not life or death. Imagine how relieved you will feel once the interview is over. You are only talking to people after all, people like you.
    Good luck!!

Job Interviews - How to Ace a Telephone Job Interview

    • Try to mentally prepare yourself for the questions you know they will ask. Try to make yourself believe you are the best person for the job and you will be more confident and able to relax.

    • practice answering questions at home so that it wouldn't feel so weird tomorrow when they ask you about stuff.

    • You can practice contracting your muscles on and off to help soothe the anxiety. It is a proven exercise to help lower your heart rate as well. If you cant do this before you go in and you are really in need of some help then go to your doctor and have him prescribe you some medication.
Another best thing to do is have your friend ask you a lot of questions you know and don't know that the interview may ask you. You should be ready for the interview, if you feel like you are not, then you need to sharpen up fast.

    • u must have good knowledge about ur subject,
and u must have some communication skils, and if u have not know about that interviewer question, i must said that u dont know about that question and u did not face in real time work.

and u must have in active mood means energytic and dont be bend down while facing the interview

    • Sweetie, remember one thing. You're not the only one going through this right now. There are people that have worked for companies for over 20 years that have lost their job and will have to go through this process. And, I would believe most interviewers realize that this is not an easy thing, because, remember, THEY had to go through this too. You must be very young to be saying this is a FIRST interview. The kid's story of the "Little Train," was, yes I can, yes I can. And Baby, you will be just fine. You're human.....and, so is the person doing the interview. Head up and act confident. Go out there and ace that job interview. One question they may ask you is, "What will you contribute to this company that would make me consider you as the best person for this job." Have a good answer for that and say it with confidence. Good luck Sweetie!

    • get a friend parent someone to practice and do this over and over again. asking interview questions over and over again. do this like a hour or two until u get it right.don't babel on with your answers. stay direct and to the point look at them don't day dream Never stair at the floor look at the person interviewing you, ya and for god goodness sit up straight. don't be afraid to laugh but don't make jokes you might think a joke is funny they might not.this is a small list and good luck remember to brush your teeth. if this is a interview for say burger king well just change your underware smile and say yes sir no sir or mam and you wil be flipping those burgers in no time flat. i take mine no tomatoes

    • depends on the job...Google types of questions they would ask in an interview. That way u have answers for possible questions & feel mor confident.

    • For me, nothing beats rehearsing answers to typical job interview questions, such as:

      * Tell me about yourself.
      * Tell me about a time you failed.
      * Tell me about a mistake you made that you recovered from.
      * Do you work better by yourself? Or as part of a team?

      Good luck!

Job Interview Questions: What do you wear to a job interview?

What do you wear to a
    - RETAIL job interview?
    - RESTAURANT job interview?
    - CAMP job interview?

Should you dress the way the people who already work there present themselves? I went to a walk-in interview for a retail store and majority of the people were wearing apparel just like the ones on the shelves and wracks! I have always been taught to wear dress pants and a nice shirt but sometimes I feel overdressed. How do you dress for certain interviews?!?!

    Master Job Interview Skills

    Recommended Answer:
For interviews, there isn't really any such thing as being overdressed. The interviewer will only notice if you're UNDERdressed. The dressiest attire would be for the retail job. You ought to wear a black or gray pantsuit or skirt suit. If you don't own that and don't want to invest in a suit (which really would be a good investment for the future), you should wear a conservative dress and possibly layer a blazer over it if the top seems too bare. This is not an occasion for showing much skin. For the restaurant, I'd step it down a bit. Wear some nice, dark dress pants with a nice blouse and possibly a light- colored blazer. Finally, for the camp job, simply wearing dress pants with any nice shirt should suffice.

Mistakes to Avoid When Answering Tricky Job Interview Questions

    • retail/restaurant: black pants with a nice non-flattering shirt, but not too boring, maybe a nice necklace or some pearl earrings.

a camp could be like long shorts or jeans with a collared shirt, and a nice brown belt to go with it. something that could show off how sportsy you are.

    • I would wear like a suit like the ones for women or I would wear like kind of suuit pants with a women ruffle shirt (idk what they're called!) Here's a picture of some clothes

      https://www.bridgeport.edu/Images/career…

    • It doesn't matter where I apply to, I always wear business casual because that's what is appropriate for a job interview. That means black dress pants with a nice blouse and dress shoes. I wore that even for a fast food place. It's just what's appropriate because regardless of its status or pay, it's still a business. You should still present yourself in a professional manner.

    Recommended Answer:
you should definitely wear dress pants, a button-down shirt, and a nice tie. remember, dress to impress. it's a lot easier to under-dress at an interview than it is to over-dress.
don't wear a polo or a suit, i think the in-between outfit is the best for this job interview.
make sure you don't look scrubby. wash your face, do your hair, clip your fingernails, and wear nice dress shoes.
good luck! hope you get the job

8 Tips For Doing Well on Your Big Job Interview

    • It doesn't matter what the actual job is, you should always over dress. Probably not a full suit, but tie and dress shirt & pants. This is where you make that impression and most experts say you have about 5 seconds to do that.

Job Interview Questions: Is it acceptable for a woman to wear a pantsuit to a job interview?

I am reading a job interview book and it says skirt suits are the only "proper" attire for women. What year is this again?

    Don't Blow Your Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
That must be a really old book. Check the first publication date.

I have worn pant suits to all of my job interviews. I think it looks more professional than a skirt suit and I feel much more confident than I would in a skirt suit.

Oil Rigs Employment - Some Facts About the Oil Rig Job Interview

    • Today, pants are acceptable in most workplaces. However, many interviewers may still hold old fashioned views about proper dress, even if they never express them and would never consciously believe they affected their selection. Unfortunately there's just no way to tell. For an interview, you want to make a good first impression, so why risk it? I'd wear a nice, conservative skirt suit to get any possible extra edge there might be. A formal skirt suit can never, under any circumstances, be considered inappropriate. When you get the job, you can wear pants every day of the work week if you want to. And the year is 2009, but that doesn't change human nature.

    • People generally advise you to dress up at least two levels higher than the current job for which you are appearing. It will create a good first impression. For professional and senior management positions, a suit, with a tie and dress shoes is quite suitable. For women, a formal pant suit will be very apt. Women should wear only minimal and simple jewelry. Women candidates should opt for only moderate heeled shoes.

    • I don't know, but i'd throw it away and get something that is relevant.
Even for a very professional interview (lawyer, executive, etc), pants would be acceptable.

    • Pants are acceptable. You are right.
Caveat: If someone were applying to a job where she knew the company held old-fashioned values, I think wearing a skirt would help.
