Job Interview Questions: After a job interview I asked my interviewer what happened to their broken leg.Was this inappropriate?

I felt that by asking I was seeming more friendly, conversational, and expressing concern.By asking this I also felt that they would feel more at ease and welcomed by me being on the team.

Job Interview Questions: What should I answer when asked "tell me about yourself " part at a job interview?

I always get confused here, can anyone please help me...I have an interview for a government position..

Thank you in advance

Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

Recommended Answer:
This is an invitation for you to present yourself. There's plenty of advice on the net about how to structure it, but the simplest way is to tell "the story of your working life" and base it on what is in your CV. Spend time in advance thinking about your own story, write it all down, get the facts straight in your head (they will pick up on inconsistencies between what you say and what is in the CV), focus on your achievements and qualities. Practice saying it out loud, preferably to someone else. If you are young and don't have much work history to present, you need to fill it out with other examples of achievements from your education or part-time work that you believe illustrate your particular qualities.

If you haven't thought about this in advance you may come across as flustered and unprepared. Some interviewers are kinder than others and will help you to draw out what they want to know, but if you are up against someone who is better prepared it's not going to do you any favors.

Best of luck

Job Interview Questions: Yo can I sue this *** at the job interview or what?

i had a job interview k? so they called my name i went in and i sat down. like 2 seconds later the guy doin the interview said NO. and i was like huh what u talkin bout dude? and he said NO again and asked me to leave. Yo what kinda interview was that where i didn't even get asked 1 question. sounds like discrimination to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interview Questions And Answers - Worst And Good Job Interview Answers

Recommended Answer:
Yes, he was being discriminating, that's the whole point of the hiring/interview process. He was weeding out the losers. Like you. If you had walked into an interview with me and spoke the way you did in this question, you may not have even made it to the sitting position. Cut the gangsta crap and start taking on a more professional attitude if you want to get anywhere. At this rate, I wouldn't even consider you for a position in a convenience store.

  • I have the feeling you dressed wrong for your interview. And no, you can't sue for that.

  • No basis for a lawsuit there. Doesn't sound like you'd get along well there anyway.

  • Possibly because you dont speak proper english.*facepalm

  • Not sure if you can sue but you can make a report with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and there may be some state employment act against discrimination that can help you take action. Hopefully it won't, but if it ever happens again, demand a reason why.

  • It was rather rude of him, but no you cannot sue. You evidently offended him in some way...perhaps your clothes or your attitude? He decided by looking at you that he did not want you for this job. That is his right.

  • Ouch. That's mean.

But there's nothing you can do. Maybe you weren't dressed properly or he recognized you from somewhere. You could also use some spelling and grammar lessons.

    Sorry.

  • That sucks. I would not sue them thats not a good way to try to get another job. There could be excuses he wil give for why they said no to you right away. Hard to prove discrimination.

I had an interview long time ago where things were going okay until he mentioned the area I am from near South Central LA. Interviewer asked about all the GANGS in my area. I don't know what that had to do with anything. I was pissed and I tell everyone not to go there.

    good luck on getting job

  • Any delusions that this job exists for you and you alone is a self- absorbed, self- centered, and egotistical delusion.

Realize that you are being judged in an interview to see how well you fit in. The entire purpose of the interview is to see if you will show up on time, work well with others and benefit the company.

If the interviewer felt you were wrong for the position, you can politely ask why he thought you shouldn't be considered for the job.

If his answer is that you cannot work well with others because of an attitude- then you will be destined for unemployment for the rest of your life unless you change. Try not threatening companies with lawsuits for no reason as a start.

  • Sounds like you better look in a mirror, and perhaps listen to yourself on a recorder. It's YOU not them. You didn't fit what they were looking for, and I bet one pictures would tell most of us what the problem was/is.

  • Were you properly clothed? Maybe you forgot to smile? Really, there is only one way to find out and it's by asking him. go back & ask

  • What kind of job was the interview for? It sounds like it was a scam and you should report it to the better business bureau.

  • Maybe it was because you talk lyke this k? and if you were dressed like a slut, that won't help matters either! I wouldn't employ trash like you! and no you can't sue them!

Job Interview Questions: What to wear for this job interview?

I have an interview at a Country Club for a beverage cart/catering person. Its a relatively small/private gold course and I was just wondering what I should wear. I was planning to wear a skirt down to my knees about with a cami-like dressy tuck in shirt. And shoes wise? I mean it isss summer so I was going to go dressy sandals. Please help! Thanks

The CAR Method Is An Effective Job Interview Technique

Recommended Answer:
Go classic business attire, it's timeless. White plain crisp blouse short or cap sleeves; khaki or navy blue pencil skirt to knee or slightly above or slightly below. Closed shoes or just a peep of toe, limited jewelry but a little is nice. Good Luck - you Will get that job!

How To Prepare For A Job Interview

  • It's always best to "over dress" than under dress. It's best to wear professional clothes to an interview, even if the attire you would wear during employment is much more casual. Something fitting for an office environment, so dress slacks, dress shoes, a nice blouse, tasteful jewelry, clean, neat hair and general clean and tidy appearance.

Hope it helps and good luck!

  • Use a classic dress...always appreciated!

Job Interview Questions: How can I get ready for a job interview?

I have to fill out a job application tomorrow. And need to get ready for the interview. I been to interviews
before. But never landed the job. This job I am getting interviewed for is at a Family christian book store. I really want this job.

The Top Ten Mistakes Made in Job Interviews and How to Avoid Them

Recommended Answer:
wear very light makeup. Dress simple. Let's say genes with a plain top that does not reveal body. Go to the book store and see how those working there are dressed.

How to Survive a Heart-Pounding Job Interview

  • Just be prepared to answer questions, like why do you want to work here, why should I hire you, what are your qualifications. A christian bookstore, thats easy, just be friendly.

  • I've been to many interviews along with many rejections. I suggest just be confident with yourself and don't forget to eye contact (which shows your confidence). It takes so much effort and preparation to even get through the interview. (Now I know after so many rejections and disappointments).

I went to a website called www.perfectinterview.com, where they give you sets of interview questions as a clip and you can practice.

Know your strengths and skills you can provide and how you used it before in your previous work experiences.

But the key factor is CONFIDENCE and EYE CONTACT. Show them you are a people-person.

Job Interview Questions: If a job interview is short, does that mean I didn't get the job?

I had a job interview for my first job with Macy's a few weeks ago. It was only about 20 minutes. Does that mean I didn't get it? (Also they said they're not hiring until October, so I don't even know why they called me in.)

Know How Important the Job Interview Questions Are

Recommended Answer:
it would be rare for a retail job that the interview be more than 30 minutes so no.

Also October is not that far away.

call them in a week.

edit when i had my interview at JCPEnney in 2003 it was 5 minutes, and i was hired

How to Succeed in a Job Interview

  • Twenty Minutes is average for a retail interview, I would not worry about it. They are pre qualifying because their hiring season is a month away. I would hand write a thank you note and follow up periodically.

    Good Luck to you

  • not necessarily. Remember Oct is right around the corner..don't get discouraged. Just keep looking and if they call, they call..if not.. move on! Good luck!

  • NO yaar not at all...my operations round wid my latest job was only for 5 mins...whereas ops round is normalyy is never less tha 10 mins

  • no it doesn't mean that at all

Job Interview Questions: What should I do to prevent/overcome nervousness in a job interview? Hormone? Neurotransmitter? Food?

What should I do to prevent/overcome nervousness in a job interview? Is there any Drug(neurotransmitter, hormone), vitamin/s, Mineral/s Nutrient/s or certain food that I should eat or avoid before the interview?

No Time To Prepare For The Job Interview?

Recommended Answer:
I interview people as part of the work I do within companies. Its fair to say I have interviewed thousands of people. When a person shows no signs of being nervous it say one of two things: either they don't really want the job, or they are so sure that they are going to get it that they don't seem to be bothered.

Trust me, if go into the room sit down and take one or two deep breaths and say, "I'm sorry, I'm just a little nervous.. I really want this job" - Then your already half way there.. (Wink)

Oh, Good luck.

Improve Your Job Interview Skills to Get Your Dream Job

  • wow ! you're scared shitless. relax man. A positive attitude is all you need.

  • if you need drugs to just ask for the job, how are you going to be in any condition to do the work itself????????

  • Do not imagine anythng about the interview. Just relax and attend the interview as if you are going to talk with somebody. Take a few deep breath.
One dose ( 4 pills) of Gelsimium 200 ( Homoeopathy medicine) is good for you. Please consult a Homoeo Doctor.

  • Rub one out, smoke weed e'ery day.

  • Be prepared for the interview. Know the questions you want to ask. Sit on your hands if you must - no fidgeting. Practice some of the answers to difficult questions that may be asked. Eat a nice breakfast before you go.

What kind of drugs do you think you could take? You don't need drugs for a job interview?

Job Interview Questions: What to wear to a job interview?

I have a job interview tomorrow, although they havent actually said interview they have said 'come in and meet us' its quite a modern and creative company. What do i wear?

10 Tips For A Successful Physical Therapy Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
If you have a chance watch 'What Not To Wear.' They have great ideas. My idea of an ideal interview outfit would be. A neutral skirt-- such as a brown or inconspicuous pattern. As for the top I would choose a pretty floral print or a button down and wear a nice blazer over it. If it's too hot, though, I would wear a button down shirt that you could unbutton with a camisole underneath. As for shoes... a kitten heal slingback would be good or fancy sandal. And keep your makeup natural and you hair professionally styled. e.g. A bun or straight locks. Don't go overboard on jewelry. Oh and good luck!

  • Basic colors:black, grey, white. If you are a female, wear a skirt that reaches to your knee w/ stockings. Minimum makeup and no perfume.

  • Black/grey trousers, - not jeans/demin.
    White/beige/light grey? Shirt/blouse
Black (leather?) shoes would look most smart.

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview.......?

So today I went to an interview at Texas Roadhouse to be a Hostess. It was my second one, because on Tuesday was the first interview and the man called me back. Today I had my interview with the Head manager and after asking me questions he said that he had just hired four Hostesses in the past week and they are waiting for things to die down before they hire anybodyy else. He said after the dust settles in about a week or two he might call me back. I'm really disappointed as I really wanted this job. Will he really consider calling me back or is that his way of saying I didn't get the job? And should I call back within a week or two? I'm 16 and this would have been my first job.

Thanks...

If he says he just hired hostesses in the last week and won't be needing anyone else for a while yet still gave you an interview is a huge red flag that he was just trying to spare your feelings. If he really already had a full staff then he wouldn't have given you the interview.

What To Bring To A Job Interview - Interview Basics

  • yes. There is nothing strange or illegal here.

He might have hired a few people for the jobs, and is waiting to see how and if they work out. I would call him back in 2 weeks and ask how things are going on.

  • sue there asses off for a million dollars!!!!!

    THAT IS DISCRIMINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Job Interview Questions: Is it okay to wear a sweater to a job interview?

I have a job interview at Safeway for an entry level position, I'm 16 and I was wondering if a nice sweater would still be appropriate. The sweater has a v-neck cut and I would wear it with a white dress shirt and a tie underneath. I was wondering if this would still be appropriate? Thanks in advance

Good luck!... ☺

Job Interviews - Six Blunders to Avoid

  • You should dress correspondingly to the job you're applying to. You don't want to be under-dressed, nor over-dressed. In this case, it's perfectly fine to wear a sweater. Without the sweater you would almost be over-dressed, I assume you're not wearing ties when working.

    @Amber
    He he ;)

  • yeah thats fine i dont think it would matter as long as its not reavling half of your boobs but instead of a skirt try to wear jeans and may be a pair of bootsHope i helped xoxo Amber swift

  • Wear black dress pants. A Safeway hiring manager will not judge you as overdressed don't worry.

Job Interview Questions: What to do if I want to cancel a job interview?

I made an appointment for a job interview.
But I found a better paying job that I have a very good chance of getting.
How can I tell the employer that I'm no longer interested in the job without being rude?

Thank You For The Job Interview - Are You Sending a Follow Up Letter?

Recommended Answer:
Good question. I would still go to the interview because practice is very important. You never know which job will be better without exploring them both. Also, you haven't been offered the other job. If you put all of your eggs in one basket you could end up with nothing. For all you know, the job you think is better will actually offer less and could have other issues.

In this competitive market keep your options open. I call your situation "a win-win". lol

How to Answer Job Interview Questions Correctly and Get Hired

  • When you are required to give a specific reason for your absence, make it as vague as possible.
When you have to cancel past the normal working hours, leave a simple message and explain it on the phone the next day.
If you have taken another position, call and let them know that you have accepted a position somewhere else with another company. Be sure to thank them for their consideration and wish them success. In this way, you have built a professional record should you decide to apply for a position again.

  • call them and tell them that you dont feel like its the right job for you, and you may have a more promising prospect

  • Call and be polite...........easy
