Job Interview Questions: What should I wear? (JOB INTERVIEW)?

I'm 15 and I have a job interview at a bakeshop Wednesday at 11. This would be my first job interview and I'm not sure what to wear. I have a lot of clothes so any suggestions would really help. Thanks!! :)

The Complete Job Interview Process

Recommended Answer:
Technically, you shouldn't wear jeans to a job interview.

You really want to show a potential employer that you can be composed yet yourself. Dress semi-professionally. You should wear something along the lines of dark trousers or, even better for someone of your age, khakis and a nice, simple button-down shirt. Dress conservatively, but don't be afraid to add a little jewelry.

The employer wants to be enchanted by your personality, not bombarded by your wardrobe. :)

Need A Free Job Interview Tip? Six of The Best Right Here

  • Wear something nice. No tank tops, shorts, short skirts, etc. Some nice pants and a blouse maybe. Hope I could help! Good luck! :)

  • A nicely fitted feminine button up shirt and dark skinny jeans would look great for a interview! Hope I helped :)

  • Try to look clean and professional. No low tank tops and booty shorts.

  • Nice jeans or a different type of nice pants and maybe a blouse. :D

It may seem like a silly question, but it is a job for a delivery service. Maybe they would think of me as efficient?

Job Interview Tips - What To Do Before And During The Interview

  • Absolutely do not wear heelies to a job interview. They provide a hazard and risk in the work environment and the company that interviews you will see a big hazard sign on your forehead and not even consider hiring you.

  • No way bro wear your heelies there gonna think your a bad *** and hire you right on the spot i would!

  • I would say it is very unprofessional. this provides risk for all parties involved. i suggest wearing something nicer like dress shoes. go all out because the nicer you dress the more reliable, hard-working and serious you will appear to be about this job (from the interviewers perspective.)

Job Interview Advice Everyone Can Use

How to Dress for a Job Interview - Women
Perfect grooming is your first assignment when you interview for a job, whether you want to be a CEO or an entry-level factory worker. To a prospective employer, how you dress says a great deal about you.

1 Call the receptionist or secretary at the prospective employer's office for tips on what employees there wear.
2 Consider the job's location. If it's a library in a strip mall, you can wear a sweater and slacks. At a corporate office, wear a conservative business suit. A pantsuit with a sweater or blouse is appropriate for an informal office.
3 Choose between closed-toe shoes, pumps and loafers. If you are wearing a skirt, nylons are a must.
4 Avoid miniskirts, tight sweaters, sloppy overalls and sandals with straps.
5 Check your outfit for holes, tears, stains, scuffs or wrinkles.
6 Tone down the use of makeup, hair spray, perfume and jewelry. One nose ring is one too many and may cost you the job of your dreams.
7 Inspect your hair, nails, hems and the shine on your shoes.
8 Wear a silk scarf and carry a nice briefcase or portfolio. Leave the oversized, disorganized handbag at home.

If you click on the link below, there are other links at the bottom right hand side of the page that answer this same question about what to wear to an interview. Each author has their own version of what to do but there are some similarities that they all have in common.

Number 4 mentions dark colors. Basically, it is good to wear a dark colored outfit (black, brown or navy blue) with a white blouse or something like that. In the business world, those are known as "power colors."

I hope this helps you land your job. Good luck:)

  • Lol... well considering you didn't mention if you're male or female...

I would probably wear a nice polo, black slacks, a black belt and nice shoes (ie if you're a guy black dress shoes, if you're a girl dressy flats). Picture professional golfers. That's how you should dress. Its not over done and stuffy so it'll show you're approachable (important for the position) but still respectful and professional.

    GOOD LUCK!! =]

  • Lean toward a formal attire (not jeans+t-shirt) but not a business suit either. I would say a long-sleeved dress shirt and beige dress pants with nice dress shoes. I guess anything dressy but not too fancy.

  • i know what you went through
i would suggest something not to formal bu not to casual either

Seven Job Interview Preparation Secrets

  • When I interviewed there, we did a group interview. Which meant there were 4 or 5 other people being interviewed at the same time as you. If that happens to you tomorrow, be sure to answer every question they ask & also volunteer to answer questions first (this is very important), because it will make you look interested in the company and working there. They'll be watching to see how you interact with other people, so be friendly, outgoing, and courteous to the other people in your group.

If you have time, practice what answers you would give to typical interview questions. I know they ask about customer service and what that means to you. I cant remember what else they asked but they were typical, questions all retail places tend to ask. If you don't know an answer, try to rephrase what someone else said and answer questions in a simple, straightforward way... if you tend to ramble on they'll probably frown upon that so be clear & to the point.

I suck at interviewing and I managed to get a job there, so it really is nothing to worry about, you'll do fine.

  • they want to see if you are normal and have a brain........
if you look good they will look good.....

know what hours you can COMMIT to.....
    school comes first....

ask about training, dress code, week-ends, extra hours during holidays, how your performance is evaluated, is it possible to get raises, do raises come with time or are they based on performance........ask them to describe their ideal employee...when they get done..say i want to be that person........(try not to laugh).....how much notice do they need if you have to go away with parents for a family event........

    you are interviewing them too.......
if you don't like their answers you may not want to work for them

  • These five questions are key

    1. Tell me about yourself

    2.Why should we hire you

3.How to deal with an angry customer

    4. What is your weakness

    5. If you have reliable transportation

    Look at www.careerbuilder.com
as they do have typical job questions and how you should answer them so look at that and you will be more prepared which is what you need for an interview

Smiling Your Way to Success in a Phone Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
You probably don't even need a resume. As long as you're a competant young adult who can act professional then you're all set. Do bring two forms of ID withe at least one being picture ID, and your social security number as well. If it makes you feel more confident practice interview questions with someone. Guarentee they're going to ask something like "Why do you want to work here?" and "Give me an example of when you had to work on a team."

If I were to get a job interview for a higher end, professional job, would a minor misdemeanor that I got when I was under 18 appear on my background check, and would I have to say that I had a past criminal offense if they ask? I would be getting an interview when I was older than 18, by the way.

Job Interview Questions: At my job interview should I give them the original letter of recommendation or a copy?

I have my first job interview for a nursing position on Monday, and I was wondering - should I bring the original letters of recommendation to show them, as well as copies for them to keep for themselves? How does that work? Thanks

Current Trends in Job Interviewing Techniques for Human Resource Management at Marriott

    Recommended Answer:
A copy is fine, you should have the originals, but they probably aren't relly interested in those letters yet. I guess you can bring them just in case...it's not liek they'll say no if you offer them. You shold consider scanning the letters so you have them in an electronic format for email. Most people don't like handling paper anymore.

    Best of luck

How To Prepare For Job Interviews

    • Yes, I think you have it right. Put the originals in a binder and have copies or let them make a copy.
