Job Interview Questions: What should you say when asked this ? in a job interview?

I don't know why I don't land jobs, like Barnes and Nobles, or Starbucks, or Marshalls because when i came in for interviews, they all asked why do you want to work for us?

I was stuck. What is the best thing to say?

Job Interview Skills

Recommended Answer:
You're going to have to tailor your answer to the particular job, but something along the lines of

"I'm considering a career in _____ and want to learn all aspects of the business. The (retail, customer service, food preparation, etc) aspect seems to be the logical place to start."

Or:

"I've had such positive experiences here as a customer that I thought it must be a terrific place to work."

Or:

"I learned how to (sell, cook, wait tables, accessorize, etc) during (my last job, church, camp, the school play, etc) and I turned out to be good at it, so I'd like to do more of it."

Just about anything that isn't "Because I need money" will be acceptable.

Don't go overboard. This is the sort of thing you really do have to rehearse a bit, so it doesn't sound too cheesy when it actually comes out of your mouth.

Job Interview Mistakes To Avoid

  • I suggest taking the time to come prepared for the job interview. Read and apply this article. I have always landed the jobs I interview for, and I have even had competition between stores on who was going to keep me. Good luck with landing the job. Go in with confidence, bring a resume (even if it's McDonald's or Wal-Mart), and do some research on the company who you are trying to become employed by.
CONFIDENCE: shows you are prepared to try something new and can handle situations with ease.
RESUME: highlights key points in your career that would not be seen on their basic application
RESEARCH (makes a huge difference): know what they expect of their staff & note any key words they use to describe their staff that you exhibit. Make sure to use these words in describing yourself, and telling them you researched the company (when asked why you want to work for them) and felt you matched the criteria shows in the following ways, etc.

good luck on your job hunt!

  • Try to think of a generic answer that covers this common question. Something that makes you appear 'likeable'.

"I've always been sort of a people person. It's gratifying when i can do something to help someone out."

Hint: They will ask for an example or two. HAVE these answers ready to go! Otherwise it sounds like BS.

I mean, everyone know the real reason your there. You want a paycheck! What they want to know is if your going to be willing to earn that check.

  • Just say you like whatever they sell like books, clothing, coffee, etc. If you don't have an answer for that question then more than likely you won't get the job because they think you aren't interested in it.

  • Say you have an interest in books, clothing, etc. (whatever they sell) and you enjoy handling those products and helping customers find the products that they enjoy.

Job Interview Questions: So i have a job interview with pizza hut and i need tips?

I need help with my resume too like what to put on there .
i also need some interview tips . maybe what to avoid saying and what to do during the intervuiew

8 Worst Job Interview Screw - Ups to Avoid

Recommended Answer:
I agree with Judy and Alix...SHOW UP TEN MINUTES EARLY TOO. Just be yourself, dress neatly, shake hands when you arrive and thank them for taking the time to interview you. Managers are busy too. The first 15-45 seconds will tell all. Never say anything bad about a former employer or staff. If you didn't like the job you can state that it just wasn't a position I saw myself excelling at.
Don't ramble. Think about the question(s) before you answer them (you only get one shot at it)...he/she wants to know what you can bring to Pizza hut to make it successful. They do not want to hear what you did last summer.
Stick to the position you are applying for. When they ask you if you have any questions...ask what you really want to know...like..."How soon do you perceive it will be, before you make a hiring decision?" (Some people here would disagree with me to ask that, but it is only fair to ask)
Don't forget to shake their hand again and thank them for taking the time and that you are looking forward to hearing from them again soon.
Good luck.

Tips For a Successful Job Interview and Land on Your Ideal Job

  • First off...interviewing with pizza hut is just a job...no worries it is nothing to stress about. As for a resume..you probably won't need one unless you are applying for a high up position. Interviewing can be a little nerve recking at times but have no fear if you go in positive and excited for what you are applying for then you should have no problem. Tips...try not to say words like like or um too much or at all. Talk about what makes this position perfect for you, they say within the first 15-30 seconds of an interview the person knows already if they will hire you or not so right when you go in shake hands, smile, and introduce yourself confidently!
    Best of luck!

  • Wear a red shirt or anything red.
Dress like you are going to church - very neatly.
    Google yahoo finance
Type in YUM - its the company that owns Pizza Hut.
They also own KFC, and Taco Bell.
Read a bit of news on the left.
Don't say anything negative - he may own some of the stock.

One educated sentence about the company could make an impression that the manager will not forget. You want to seem smart.
Also mention that you are dependable and have good transportation.
Mention that there is nothing more important than showing up for work on time.

You'd be surprised how many managers are fed up with people that don't show up, don't call, or don't show up on time.

  • I'm 16 and never had a job, but take my advice on this. I know someone who works at McDonalds and he spends most of his money on crack, marijuana, shrooms, etc, and he does horrible in school. If he can get hired for a job, (he is ridiculously unintelligent) then you are almost guaranteed. I would just act professional and not get nervous.

Job Interview Questions: How long after the job interview did you receive an offer?

I know the average wait is 1-2 weeks, and that I should follow up within that time frame, re: Google.

However, I'm curious about your personal experiences. I've received two job offers myself, and both arrived the same day as the interview, within 1-3 hours. Because of this personal experience, my fragile optimism for this particular job is dropping exponentially as time passes. And also, the interview ended with the dreaded "we'll be in touch."

    Thanks!!

Be Prepared For Job Interview Success

    Recommended Answer:
We've done hiring and the decision we would give could be between 1 days and 3 weeks - depending on circumstances. We would have to do the usual reference checks and also discuss internally amongst other team members.

Sometimes other internal factors would come into play - projects would go on hold, people would leave, or move, and plans would have to be evaluated. 1-2 weeks is definitely the norm, but for us, it has gone longer.

Unfortunately, only they know. You can always follow up with a phone call or email.

Tips to Boost Your Job Interview Confidence

    • I try not to read too much into my job interviews. Some that I was certian I got, I didn't. Some I wrote off as soon as I left, I got call backs from. I also have been offered jobs during the interview, and once I did't get a call back until a month later, after the initial succesful applicant bombed on the job.

    • I've had same-day offers and 3 month waits. It depends on the job.

If it's been more than a week without a word, contact them. Also, did you remember to send a follow-up thank you letter after your interview?

Job Interview Questions: Do I need to wear a watch to a job interview?

I've been told that in job interviews the interviewer will check to see if you wear a watch... but now that we're in an era where a lot of people use cell phones as a time piece, do interviewers still check for a watch?

5 Simple Rules for A Great Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
It is all matter of having the proper appearance and accessories. You do not pull out your cell phone and play with it to see what time it is! You wear an appropriate watch. Women wear appropriate earrings, perhaps a necklace. Men wear an appropriate tie.

They are checking not only what you wear but how you wear it, your knowledge of proper business attire and etiquette, and how you value yourself. If you wear a cheap cruddy watch, you do not value yourself or your time. If you wear a big flashy watch, you are an "all flash & no cash" type -- in other words, you have no substance backing you up. Wearing a good watch symbolizes care and attention to appearance, valuing your self and your time, and a certain subtlety and elegance. An astute person can check their watch (i.e. manage their time) without being obtrusive about it.

Pay attention to what you wear. And wear a watch! The basics which others listed above are NOT enough. The devil is in the details. They look at the fine points, not just the gross appearance. They are paying far more attention than most people guess.

Question To Ask At A Job Interview-5 Of The Best Questions!

    • I wouldnt go out and buy one. Although I never heard of that myself, I guess I would wear one if I had one on hand.

I think what is much more important than wearing a watch is to exude confidence and interest in the company you are being interviewed by. If you dont have a watch I would instead spend that time you would buying one researching company information instead. They will be much more impressed that you know details about the company vs wearing a watch.

    • I have never heard that before, and I would wager a guess that that is not true. Normally interviews are graded on the following:

-Overall appearance (posture, hair, and dress nicely, but a watch is not required)
-Overall demeanor (sit up relatively straight, speak clearly ,etc)
      -Personality
-Past experience and reputations (based on your resume)
      -Intelligence

    • This is probably outdated advise, but it couldn't hurt. I would wear a watch, even thought I don't normally wear one and always just check my cell phone. In a case where there is no downside to doing it and it might actually help; I would do it.

Job Interview Questions: Good Questions I Can Ask In A Job Interview?

Tomorrow I have a job interview as a Youth Worker Assistant, I am dealing with both Admin and Youth Care work, I think I have most of the stuff down like what questions they are going to ask me and I've prepared for that but I'm stuck on what questions I could ask them. Any ideas?

Job Interview Skills - What You Must Have to Land the Job

    Recommended Answer:
Go through the job ad again and think of yourself in the role - what sort of things would you like to know? If you don't know, try and look it up online so that you don't ask questions that you could have search for on your own. If you can't and the question is an "appropriate one" to ask in an interview, then do ask it. There may be questions that arise from the interview itself. If you have no questions, then say you have none for the moment - why risk it for the sake of having a question to ask?

    Good luck!

Questions to Ask Your Interviewer in the Job Interview

    • Plan interview questions that go beyond just exploring the routine details. Focus rather on aspects such as role expectations, job priorities, organizational strategy and needs, management style and expectations. You can find good examples at the site below.

    • What opportunities are their for personal growth.

Is there any company assistance for education fees and tuition?

Is there opportunity for advancement in the future?

Do you expect me to work week-ends or holiday?.

      How many hours per week?

      What will my responsibility be?

      What is my pay?

Job Interview Process 101 for First Time Job Seekers

Practice "up-selling" and difficult customer relations. Up-selling is basically accessorizing and encouraging the customer to spend more, but in a manner that leaves them feeling satisfied and wanting to come back and see you personally. Difficult customer relations is about objections and empathy. They're in a hurry. They're shopping for a spouse and they hate shopping. They're difficult and mean. Practice a specific response to these. Use your imagination, but bring it around to the up-sell.

Job Interview Questions: In a job interview, is it okay to ask when the decision will be made?

I have a job interview coming up. I know most interviews will ask at the end if you have any questions. I need to know when they will announce whether or not they'll hire me. Is it okay to ask or would that damage my chances at getting the job?

Will What You Wear for a Job Interview Help You Pass the 2 Minute Test?

      Recommended Answer:
I would ask them. However, I would leave it toward the end of the interview. Like what you said, at the point when they ask if you have any questions. This is a normal question and I am sure that many hiring managers are asked it. After all, it is only natural to want an ideal time frame.

I would make it one of the last questions you ask. Like when you stand up to end the interview. As if they have a time frame for when you may expect a call if you were to get the job. Then, close out the interview with the traditional handshake and thank you.

Good luck in all your future job interviews.

      Job Interview Preparation

      • Absolutely. Ask them! Don't ask "when will you announce that you will hire me or not". Ask them when a decision will be made or ask when will I hear back from you. Ask other questions first. Ask about daily responsbilities, etc. Go get a book or search online for questions to ask. Make sure you have more than you need because often, they will answer all your questions before you asked them.

      • If you have a good reason, just explain what it is and ask politely.

      • I think it would be a good question, because It will show your strength as an employee.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview at fancy sox?

I am going to a job interview at fancy sox but idk what should I wear? Any suggestions? And what should I know about the store?

What Are The Most Popular Job Interview Questions?

      Recommended Answer:
if you interview with mcdonald's for a cashier job, or for a swiming teacher, you should always look as professional as a CEO! this applied to fancy sox. i learned that in college, and it was one of the few things that i still remember. here are some guidelines on what to wear:
Men and women should wear a suit (two pieces cut from the same cloth). Colors: dark blue, or medium to dark gray. Black is acceptable, but some find it too authoritative. Fabric: solid or subtle pinstripe, plaid or tweed.
Women: may wear conservative jewelry, no larger than dime-size earrings on the earlobe.
Men and women may carry a black, brown, or maroon leather portfolio.

Get That Job: Mastering Job Interviews

      Recommended Answer:
If it is a job of a life time then invest in another alarm clock AND have at least one other friend call your house or come over and wake you up. If you don't have a phone, get a neighbor to wake you up. If it's really early in the morning, tell your friend or neighor that it's just too bad because that's what friends do for each other.

Also, very important, plan on it taking you twice as long to get there as normal. Always use this rule of thumb. A doctor told me that one time and I have never forgotten that cuz I always use to be late to his appointments. You never know if there will be an accident or a traffic jam or construction, etc.

      Good luck! Don't oversleep!

I have a job interview monday afternoon in NYC for a bartending job. What do you wear to an interrview like this? Are there any bartenders on here that could tell me?

      Job Interview Success

      Recommended Answer:
It depends on the kind of bar it is. If it's an upper-class place for snooty rich people, where professional, conservative clothes. If it's a trashy little "hole-in-the-wall" type of bar, I really don't think it matters what you wear.
