The pay, if not mentioned in the interview, should only be asked when the interviewer asks " do you have any questions" and not before that point

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow, what should i do?

This is my first interview ever and its at Target. Ive only had one job and it only lasted 2 months in 2009. I have no costumer service experience at all. I don't know what to bring or say besides "I know I can do the job". How long do interviews last?
Advice???

The Physician Job Interview - Essential Tips for Success

Recommended Answer:
Don't stay up too late and get some breakfast tomorrow (does not have to be a huge meal, but don't go on an empty stomach). You didn't tell us what kind of job you are applying for.

Dress appropriately. If you are a guy, wear a suit. If you don't have a suit, wear a shirt and tie. If you are a woman, wear a woman's suit (like a guy's suit but with a matching skirt instead of pants). If you don't have a suit, wear a dress. You can also wear a fancy blouse and a skirt (not too short). Do not wear jeans or work out clothes. Don't overdo the perfume/cologne.

You cannot memorize answers because you don't know what they are going to ask.

They are likely to ask about any previous work experience and also why you left your previous job. They will also ask you what you have been doing between 2009-2011. They might ask you what your eventual career goal is. Other questions: what do you do for fun? How would you handle this situation (a customer comes in and complains that the tv he bought doesn't work. He then starts yelling that it's junk and why does the store sell junk?).

I cannot tell you what to say bc there are so many questions they can ask you. But hopefully these examples might give you food for thought. How long do interviews last? Anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Dress nice but casual, they wear khakis and polo's at Target so wear something like slacks or a nice pair of jeans and a polo or button down shirt.

    interviewss last 5-10 minutes, if they offer you a drink say no thank you, you're not going to be there long enough to drink it.

    Don't chew gum, don't go in smelling like smoke.

    Be nice, smile, sit up straight and give a firm handshake.

    Speak clearly and confidently and don't use a lot of slang.

    If they ask why you want the job, don't say you need it, say something like Target is a place you shop at, you're familiar with the products and you think you'd do well there.

    If they ask why you weren't at your last job long think of something diplomatic to say, don't talk smack about your previous employer, but don'y say anything that would reflect badly on you.

    My favorite excuse for having left my previous employer was always I needed to care for a sick relative (lol)

  • Just be calm and truthful relax and breath. Tell them you wi try your hardest because that's All they can ask for from you

Job Interview 101

  • 1. Yes
    2. No (I suppose you could bring that, but don't hand it over unless specifally asked).
    3. Look your best, so I personally would.

    My boss once gave me some advice about resumes. They are just meant to get you in the door for an interview. They aren't supposed to have what you made money-wise or references on them. Just your work experience and education. This is from someone who had been hiring people for 40 yrs.

    Once you get called for an interview and they ask for references and what you made, then tell them. They always have those questions on the official application as well.

  • 1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. I want to say yes.. but I also want to say ; how you look at your interview is how they might expect you to look all the time. The employer is going to assume that you look your best for the interview.. so look great but don't over do it. In my opinion, it would make them expect to see you done up ..always! :-)

  • 1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. lol...that is entirely up to you. They won't care.
    Good Luck!

  • Yes, to all. You want to go prepared and you want to look your best.

Job Interview Questions: How do prepare for a job interview?

I recently applied to work at a hip clothing store similar to Charlotte Ruse in the mall, and I heard back in two days that they wanted to do an interview. I've never held a job before, so I'm really nervous. My only previous work experience was doing research, so I'm a little clueless about what they might ask?

What should i wear? What might they ask me and how should I respond?

Any tips?

Thanks so much for all your help in advance, thank you.

How to Ace a Nursing Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Wear clothes that they might carry, but nothing outrageous. Tone the 'trendy' down a notch.

Show up early. Do not bring a boyfriend or anyone with you. Smile and make eye contact throughout the interview. You want to present yourself as positive, professional, reliable and quick to learn.

They will probably ask you why you want to work there and if you have any scheduling conflicts outside of work.

Do some research on the company. Have some questions of your own prepared, for instance, ask about the shift loads and scheduling.

Good luck!

Critical Mistakes To Avoid at Job Interview

  • This site has some questions that an interviewer may ask: www.careerbuilder.com and can click 'career advice' on the right-hand side of the page.

    The person interviewing you might ask 'why you would like to work at the establishment' (perhaps you enjoy fashion and providing superior customer service or something to that effect), what 'you believe are your strengths and weaknesses' (no one should talk negatively about themselves though), the basics about job availability and hours (those in retail usually prefer employees that can work evenings and weekends), why they 'should hire you over the other applicant' that they'd interviewed (always give 110% and very dedicated to whichever project in which you're working or such), whether or not your prefer working in a group or independently (they're hoping that you're able to work in both situations as a team player and with autonomy). They will most likely ask if you have any questions, and it's always great to have a few intelligent ones ready which shows that you're interested in the job and that you're not just sitting in the chair like a lump on a log, lol.

    Regarding attire for the interview, just to add to the other great post to Never wear sneakers or open-toe shoes, tank tops/bare midriff shirts, really short skirts, have one's arms covered at all times, avoid heavy perfume or fragrance and do not wear gaudy/ostentatious jewelry. This site has more information on what NOT to wear at a job interview: www.careerbuilder.com/Article/CB-…

Getting Job Interview Help For Aviation Jobs

Recommended Answer:
The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.

What's the appropriate dress code for an interview? You'll want that first impression to be not just a good one, but, a great one. The candidate dressed in a suit and tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate dressed in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt.

How to Dress for an Interview:

Men's Interview Attire

* Suit (solid color - navy or dark grey)
* Long sleeve shirt (white or coordinated with the suit)
* Belt
* Tie
* Dark socks, conservative leather shoes
* Little or no jewelry
* Neat, professional hairstyle
* Limit the aftershave
* Neatly trimmed nails
* Portfolio or briefcase

Women's Interview Attire

* Suit (navy, black or dark grey)
* The suit skirt should be long enough so you can sit down comfortably
* Coordinated blouse
* Conservative shoes
* Limited jewelry (no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets)
* No jewelry is better than cheap jewelry
* Professional hairstyle
* Neutral pantyhose
* Light make-up and perfume
* Neatly manicured clean nails
* Portfolio or briefcase

What Not to Bring to the Interview

* Gum
* Cell phone
* Ipod
* Coffee or soda
* If you have lots of piercings, leave some of your rings at home (earrings only, is a good rule)
* Cover tattoos

Interview Attire Tips

* Before you even think about going on an interview, make sure you have appropriate interview attire and everything fits correctly.
* Get your clothes ready the night before, so you don't have to spend time getting them ready on the day of the interview.
* If your clothes are dry clean only, take them to the cleaners after an interview, so they are ready for next time.
* Polish your shoes.
* Bring a breath mint and use it before you enter the building.

Job Interview Questions: Im 33weeks pregnant n I have been called for a Job Interview.Is it right 4me to go?Wil it affect my chances?

Will being pregnant affect my chances of passing a Job Interview? I am 33 weeks pregnant and I have been called for a job interview, so
I dont know if I should go or not because I think they wont take me because I am pregnant. Will being pregnant make the Interviewer not be interested in employing me?

Tips to Ace Your Insurance Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Would you employ someone who is 33weeks preggy and yet have to pay her during maternity now when there are people out there dying for a job?

From a practical employer standpoint, your chance of new employment will be slimmer. However, if you have a decent working experience with good industry reputation, the new employer might just take you.

Job Interview Tips

  • I would think so, since you will not be working soon in about 3-4 weeks you will be on maternity leave. They advertise to find someone they need to employ quite soon and that they are going to be working longer than 3-4 weeks before they have enforced time off.
    I think they will pick the candidate who can devote their time to their new post at least for a longer period of time. Some people are given say a 6 month trial basis and if you are not there most of those 6 months then it would be pointless.

    If I was an employer I would probably decline you and ask you to re-apply for a future post when you have yourself available for work. I think that may be the answer you will expect.

  • I learnt in business studies that some employers do not employ people who have children because it may affect the working times of the employees, Which is against the law i think, but its not right.

    Go for it, and if you explain your situation and how you and the father will be looking after teh baby, they may be comforatable with you working at the job

    Good luck

  • well there would not be much point in hiring somene who is going to be unavailable in 7 weeks time.

    IF they dont hire you for that reason, then it is discrimination, but its up to you to say how soon you think you will be back at work. And beleive me they WILL ASK.

  • Possibly - meaning it could go against you. But then again it may not. There's only one way to find out. Go to the interview, you've got nothing to lose.

  • You should go. I myself most likely would not hire you because you will soon be out of maternity leave, but not everyone is me.

  • Oh Please ... I would throw you out for wasting my time ....

Job Interview Questions: How long does a job interview last?

My first job interview is today. I'm just a student so I'm wondering how long will the interview last?

Tips to Ace Your Insurance Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
It all matters what kind of job you are interviewing for and if this is the first interviews.

The first interview is usually the shortest one. For a lower level or entry level interview I would say 30 minutes to an hour.

The more important the job the more time. I've seen interviews last days. However, the company usually lets you know that you are going to talk to multiple people and be there for a while.

Job Interview Tip Number 1 is Preparation

  • It really depends on the job. I've had interviews last 15 minutes, others have lasted 5 or 6 hours with multiple people and dinner etc. However, if its a student/first job it will likely be 15-30 minutes. Nothing to sweat about :)

  • About a half an hour to an hour. It depends. If you get hired while you're there, your employer might want you to fill out tax forms and other paperwork. Good luck!!

  • 15 minutes to 8 hours.
    It depends on your profession.
    /

  • I've seen anything from 30 mins to a couple of hours (including a tour of the place).

    Good luck!

    Job Interview Questions: What would JC Penney ask in a job interview?

    I have a job interview in 4 days at JC Penney and I have absolutely no clue what the questions will be. I have only worked one two jobs in my life. I'm 16 and I worked at my mom's restaurant as a waitress/cashier and I am currently working at a day camp as a councelor.

    Help, I Have to Prepare For My Job Interview!

    Recommended Answer:
    I work in retail and some of the questions will involve your prior experience. They will probably ask you how you've dealt with difficult customers or situations when you were working as a cashier and what, if anything, you would do differently today.

    Another good response to have prepared is to tell your interviewer about any instances that demonstrate when you have gone above and beyond your regular job responsibilities i.e. staying at the restaurant late, cleaning up, helping to close - especially during the holidays.

    Most importantly, emphasize to them that you will be a reliable, responsible employee and they should be satisfied with your qualifications.

    Good Luck :)

And maybe bump up the vocabulary and try to talk about the business and what you know, to show that you have done some research :) GOOD LUCK HUN! <3
