- A definite NO-NO. Never bring up salary or benefits until you are offered the job. If you give a number or range (even if they ask), you put yourself at a disadvantage or disqualify yourself. Jobs are hard to get; I would not risk it with that answer.
A better answer would be, "I'm seeing a new challenge where I can use my skills and abilities..." (Then go on to list what they are).

With the economy the way it is, if you show up with anything less than "How can much work can I do, and how little can you pay me" style of thinking and attitude, you probably won't get it.
As a business owner I can tell you we are getting 10 times more than usual resumes. Unfortunately for employees it is extremely competitive. A lot of people are willing to work twice as long for half as much. We even have people in professional fields willing to work for FREE just for experience in a non-internship position. While we don't stoop to that level, it is a real eye opener and I felt a sense of obligation to let people who are seeking jobs know what's going on behind the company doors.
