Job Interview Questions: What to wear for a job interview?

I have a job interview at the gap. And I have never shopped there, and was wondering if jeans would be okay.

The Comic Tragedy of Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
The biggest mistake you can make is wearing jeans to a job interview. Regardless of what the job is you always wear a suit. Weather your going for a corporate job or a job waiting table or cleaning the floor always go with a suit. If you can't find a suit do black dress pants a white button down shirt and a black cardigan or blazer. You can put you own style on it with acessories but not to much it is an interview.... Good luck!!

Can I Really Get That Job? - How To Survive a Job Interview - Part 1

  • Well i myself am 14. But I have an older sister who has had alot of jobs. And I've seen her before a couple of times before job interviews. She wears black slacks, black heels. And a white Button up shirt. Short or long sleeve. Doesn't matter. And she doesn't wear ties. Just like one button loose from the top. And if you have highlights. My sister hides them. She has sone highlights on the side of her head. And she gets the highlights and ties behind her head and hiding behind her natural hair and puts her hair over the highlights. And about hats and piercings. Don't wear them. They make you look MAJORLY unprofessianal. Just the regualar ear peircing are ok. And be urself. Be honest. Don't like and say you graduated from haravard or something. Good luck :)

  • I think you have to be worn with full-sleeved collared shirts to gain formal look. There are several options you can choose from. A cap-sleeved shirt is one of them. Throw on a pretty scarf underneath your collar and voila, you have 'chic forma attire'.

  • Never wear jeans for a job interview! Go to google or youtube and put in your question. You will get tons of ideas and recommendations and videos. Good luck I hope you get the job! :)

  • If you had a interview i wear something nice and not jeans

  • i would wear khakis and a nice shirt...business casual
it's never bad to dress too formal but it can be bad to not dress formal enough

  • jeans aren't professional so wear dark pants

  • formal dress, not jeans, you should be loking smart.

Job Interview Questions: For a job interview, what if your responses are school related?

If I go to a job interview, and for most of the questions they ask me, I use examples from the classes I took at school, is that bad? Should I instead focus my answers on things I did in my internships? The problem is that for many interview questions, my internship experience doesn't apply to it, but my experience in school lab classes or lecture classes does.

Thanks.

The Comic Tragedy of Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
You should mix it up among all your experiences. If this is your first job, there will be a natural bias towards answers about your school experiences. But you should have an arsenal of answers ready about what you saw when you were intern, what would you change at the place you interned in etc?

Interviewers are looking for some with ideas and many interview questions and answers are geared towards finding the next leader who will implement change.

Have a look at www.theinterviewmaster.com

They have a whole chapter dedicated to school questions.

Best of luck with it - it will all be fine - just make sure that you are well prepared for the interview!

Job Interview Preparation - Three Key Steps

  • It's okay for some responses, but you should try and pull from your professional experiences as well. Think through the questions you're likely to be asked and practice so you can get a better mix.

  • Then they are school related. You have to start somewhere.

McDonald's employees wear uniforms anyway so what you wear to the interview is not so important as your personal grooming and attitude/personality. Remember, you will be handling someone's food so I cannot stress the cleanliness enough.

  • yes use hand gestures, appearing confident is good. bully bosses see the lack of hand gestures as a lack of confidence and that can work against you so if you like to use hand gestures, please by all means use them.

  • I've heard you're not to be fidgety or gesture too much in an interview...I'm not too sure either..but I would keep it to a minimum. Just make eye contact and maintain good posture and composure while you speak.
