Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I'm 17. The interview is at the local McDonald's, and the interview is in less than 2 hours. I'm leaning toward brown dress slacks, a short sleeve (we're in the south and it's hot) button down light and dark brown casual striped shirt, black belt and black shoes. Please let me know if the outfit is appropriate and if not please give adequate details to an appropriate one. Thanks and hurry!

Recommended Answer:
It sounds perfectly fine. Don't go to overdressed though. I showed up in a school uniform. lol and it turned out okay

10 Job Interview Tips That Will Help You Make a Good Impression

  • Thats plenty appropriate but make sure you are groomed to the tee(shoes polished; shirt tucked-in;teeth brushed, hair combed, manners updated.)

  • That sounds good. Now when you get there, check your appearance to make sure you don't have wind blown hair or something.

  • Sounds good to me. Tuck in that shirt.

  • That sounds good to me, as well.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I have an interview with Walt disney world resort for a merchandise job(to work in a gift shop). I don't really have much to work with! I only have jeans & one polo shirt! My nice, "business-like" stuff is in my storage unit and my parents won't get them for me! So, what should I do? I don't have enough money to buy anything!

Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

Recommended Answer:
Go naked. I'm not saying it will get you the job, but it will sure get their attention.

Seriously, if jeans and a polo shirt are all you have then I guess that's it unless you can convince somebody you know to loan you something.

I'm not sure what's up with your parents though. If one of my kids wanted to get a job I would be elated. If they had jobs maybe they would stop begging for money. Probably not, come to think of it... Why spend your own money when you can go to the Bank of Dad? Silly me.

Types of Job Interview Questions

  • Well with jeans and a polo shirt you could look professional too!! The most important thing do your make up nice not to havy, your hair down and don't forget the highheel that's what's going to give u the look you need walk straight with your head up!' hope this helps good look

  • make sure your shirt is tucked in, you'll look just fine. good luck.

Job Interview Questions: Post job interview do they always call the references you provide?

So i had the interview, interview went really well, and we were all laughing and the interview went for 75 min. gave them references even though they didn't ask for them. Do they always check references after doing an interview?

Know Your Job Interview Skills

Recommended Answer:
You shouldn't supply references unless that ask for them.

...I've only had an employer call a reference once in 20 years.

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear at a job interview on a hot day?

I'm going to my first interview for a job as a cashier at Walgreens. It's supposed to be really hot tomorrow. I have dress clothes, but most importantly how necessary is the tie?

From the Eyes of a Job Interviewer

Recommended Answer:
A tie isn't really that necessary. I was going to recommend a skirt and a tank, but because your asking about a tie, I'm guessing your a guy, especially because your name is "Jason" (:

If I were you, I would wear khaki pants and a short sleeved collared shirt. You just want to look neat. No need for a blazer, Oxford shirt, and tie. I don't think you'll overheat in the khaki pants, either. Aren't the interviews conducted inside?
~ Caty

Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

  • Wear dress pants, a short sleeved shirt with no tie and polished shoes. Comb your hair and make sure your face is clean. If you're going for a fancy place the tie would be important if it's just your local McDonalds then the tie wouldn't really matter.

  • You gotta look good either way, no matter the weather.

I mean, it's not like you'll have the interview outside, right? I doubt Walgreens wouldn't hire you because you didn't have a tie.

  • Nothing:)

Or only boxers with homer simpson will be nice
    unless your a girl
then a hot pink bra and matching panties will do the thing (y)

    GOODLUCK on your job interview!

  • A cashier at Walgreens? A job can't get any more pathetic than that. They take any scumbag, do you honestly think they care what you wear?

Job Interview Questions: Should you forcefully hide your religion and sexual orientation on a job interview or at job?

There are many taboo topics during job interviews but is it actually illegal for a potential employer or a current employer to ask your religion or sexual orientation? I'm not sure how or why they would want to know but if they do ask, what is a polite way of saying you don't want to release that information?

This question is mostly for homosexuals, bisexuals and non-christians since those are the minorities.

The Ten Secrets For a Great Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Im heterosexual, but I actually did have someone ask me in an interview once what my sexual orientation was. I responded "I do not intend to be disrespectful, but could you tell me how that is relevant to the position I've applied for?" All she said was "It isn't." I smiled, and she moved on with the interview. I'm pretty sure I could have made some noise about that, but I just dismissed it as her personal ignorance.

I'm not sure if that's illegal or not, but it should be. A person could easily tell you they are gay and then scream discrimination when they don't get the job.

How To Prepare For Your Job Interview

  • I haven't seen any application, asking if you are Muslim, Homosexual or bisexual. Sorry, that might have that kind of stuff your country but not in America. Besides, your interviewer can not ask you those personal question.

  • It's just none of their business really. They won't ask because they probably don't care and it would be illegal to refuse you a job because you're gay or because of your religion.

  • It is illegal. Your personal beliefs and lifestyle choices shouldn't matter. What should matter is if you can get the job done efficiently.

  • Those issues should be irrelevent in the workplace

  • You shouldn't hide it, but they can't ask that because that's illegal.

  • How is it force when know one is putting a gun to your head?
    or
    threatening you??

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow, any tips?

I am 17 and i am going to my first job interview ever, are there any tips and common questions you could inform me of that would be helpful for my interview tommorow PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

5 Tips For a Successful Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Research the company - nothing really detailed just simple things, especially if its a chain like target, jc penney, etc basically where there is more than one

how many it started with, how many there are to this day, good things they've done for customers, etc and if you have the chance to bring it up during an interview do so!

& practice questions. I did this monday night and it helped me SO much this tuesday (yesterday)
What type of job is it by the way? depending on that will help to determine questions that will be asked

If for retail
"How would your friends describe you?, what would you do if a friend or co-worker stole from the store?, what are your strengths and weaknesses?, how would you treat a customer who does not know about a product (or something sold there)?, what is good customer service?, why do you want to work here?"

Things like that.
If you have a resume, DEFINITELY bring that. At least 5 + a copy for yourself. Relate any experience you have previously to the job you are applying for - esp. if you've worked with customers a lot

Make your objective known - what are your qualifications for the job you want?
Make sure you have questions you'd like to ask them!

Be polite and friendly - know what you want.
Firm handshake, good eye contact - smile smile smile
No downers in an interview, its like..forbidden and it can hinder the time you get

Job Interview Techniques - How to Crack the Interview Code

  • Not knowing your background and the nature of the job you're applying, I can ony give you the following suggestions:

Find out something about the company, their latest business plan, product, services, and what you will be doing if they hire you. You can get a lot of the information on the net.

Review your resume and remember those experience relevant to the new job by heart.

Review your resume and give some thought about what you can contribute to the company if they hire you. In other words, ask yourself why the company should hire you.

Have a nice dinner and plenty of rest tonight

On the day of the interview, make sure you bring along several copies of your resume with you. Dress appropriately for the job you're applying. Be at the company at least 10 to 15 minutes before the interview.

  • Give straight answers, and look your interviewer in the eye. Plus if you do not get the job don't get discouraged.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my first job interview ever?

Im going for a job interview at a store like home depot/lowes/rona, for a cashier job, but im from a lower class family and all of my clothes are really ratty and have holes all through them... What should i do? this will be my first job and I obviously dont have money for nice clothes

Brush Up on Your Job Interview Skills and Ace The Interview

Recommended Answer:
Maybe you could go to a thrift store or Goodwills or something and try to buy decent looking clothes...if not then just try to look your best and do with what you have. Image is important but attitude and personality are even more valuable in employees, especially if you're working as a cashier and face people. I'm sure you'll do fine and good luck! ^.^

Don't Blow Your Job Interview

  • Are you a girl or a boy?
    If your a girl:
I nice button up sweater with a plain shirt under and either dress pants or a nice skirt
(for the tops and pants try to stay away from patterns)

    If your a boy:
A nice dress shirt (Blue or white) And some dress pants
(If you wanna make it more casual roll up the sleeves just to the forearms on the shirt)

With either of these outfits an alternate pretty casual option for pants is a nice clean pair of jeans
Also you can get these clothes at the local thrift store or borrow some from a good friend (maybe the one your using internet from?)

  • For a job like this, khaki pants, black shoes (be sure to shine them) and a white short sleeve button down collared shirt should be quite appropriate. You can get all that at a thrift store for less than $20. If you don't have the money then borrow it because if you go to the interview looking tacky you will not be hired. You never get a second chance at a first impression.
Also, you may even get the clothes for free if you check with your local charities. There are many organizations that collect clothes expressly for the purpose of providing decent clothing to people for job interviews. One of them is the Urban League but there are several others.

  • Check out your local goodwill store or salvation army store. They usually have some cheap nice clothes.

you should definitely wear at least business casual. Nice slacks and a tucked in buttoned shirt with a collar if you're a guy.

  • if you got money for a computer and internet connection i'm sure you have money for clothing,

  • A nice collared shirt and Black pants with nice looking shoes

  • just borrow nice clothes from a friend :)

  • go to the goodwill, get a nice pair of slacks and a nice blouse, low heels, done

  • Hit the local resale shop. You'll find something worth wearing for cheap.

  • Khakis and a Polo

  • a cowboy hat and a g-string, what else?
