Job Interview Questions: Is it a bad idea to wear neon green nail polish to a job interview?

Okay, so I usually NEVER wear any nail polish on my fingers, but I wore green with red dots today. I JUST painted it yesterday!!! BUT- I forgot I have a job interview tomorrow (they interview all applicants). What do ya think- take it off? I really need to make a good impression, I REALLY need a job!

You should probably take it off. You want the interviewer to focus on you and what you say rather than your nails.

Top 7 Job Interview Tips

  • If this is for an professional type of business interview I would say no. Usually an interview is conducted at a table and your hands will most like be on the table or moving around while you are talking. I think that it will distract your interviewer and they may think it unprofessional.

If this is an interview for a young retail store or with a very relaxed dress code you may be okay.

You need to evaluate the type of place you are interviewing for and see it if would be acceptable. It may be the thing that makes you stand out but unfortunately you won't know if the person interviewing you will like it or not.

  • Speaking with experience from the financial community, it would be a very bad idea, especially if you want to make at least a decent impression.

If you want to make a good impression, kill the green nail polish and tone down the makeup and dress conservatively.

    good luck

  • at a very professional place, yes, take it off and do it one bold color. it will look professional and bold colors represent power. employers want powerful employees at a professional job.

  • Um,.. depends what kind of job a part time job at walmart, it'd probably be okay, but at some executive place you might consider taking it off, if you ever want to afford green nail polish again
