Job Interview Questions: How do I go on a job interview if I work from 8 to 5 full time?

I just got my first full-time job but it pays really lousy. I work full-time 8 to 5 pm. I'm applying for my dream job which will be much higher in pay. So what do I do when they call to set up an interview? Do I explain that I am working full time? Could I make it on a Saturday or is that a big no-no?

You will need to take a day off from work in order to go to the interview. Ask for a personal day if you don't have any vacation days, or ask to leave early and make it up the next day.

• When you're called for an interview let them know that you are still working and find out if they have any availability to meet with you during your lunch break. If it's not close to your work for you to meet during your lunch break then see if you can arrange for a time before you go into work or first thing in the morning so you can go before work.
  
  You may have to make an excuse with your current job and let them know that you're not feeling well on the day you have your interview. If you're current job doesn't ask for a doctor's note then you can say you have a dentist or doctor's appointment.
  
  Just keep it professional with the new company you'll be interviewing for and ask them their availability. If their business is open on the weekends then it might be fine but most companies won't interview over the weekend so you shouldn't ask that if you already know that their business isn't open.
  
  Don't divulge too much info. with the company you want to work for about how you got out of work at your current job and never bring it up in the interview. They don't ask so don't offer up the info.
  
  If you feel like you have a chance to get this new position then just call out sick.

  Otherwise, explaining to the interviewer that you work full time won't help you with the interview.
  
  What I would is ask for a Saturday, if that is not available, then make a time for the interview and arrange to take some time off from work.

• Perhaps by the time an interview is scheduled, a good reputation on your present job should allow time enough to make the appointment. Your present employer need not know the reason for the time off request unless it is required. Meanwhile, a promotion where you are is an option. Dream jobs are out there, but the bills keep coming...


• Fill out a leave of absence sheet. As a working adult also applying for jobs, you MUST go to this interview. Get out of work early and go to an interview in the early afternoon. You'd only miss a few hours of work so it won't hurt ur already low pay. Go for it! Good luck


• You just have to lie a little. That's what I'd do. Or take half day off. I'd tell them that I need more time after lunch so that I can go to the bank and that I'd be back as soon as I can. Stuff like that.


• Say you have a doctor's appointment. You don't have to miss a whole day of work.
