My interview was OKAY but not GREAT. Plus I came 12 min late! So I was told that a thank you letter can do damage control but I don't have her e-mail and post mail seems to archiac and long. I only have her phone number so why not leave a nice message on her answering machinenic

Don't call her.

Letters are the only way to go, preferably hand-written and snailmailed.

A thank-you call is more damaging than doing nothing. It shows you don't know how the "thank you" part of the interview works.

BTW, if you showed up late you aren't going to get the job anyways so it's kind of a moot point. All the recruiters I know never hire people who are late. If you can't manage your time for something as important as an interview, what kind of job are you going to do?
