Job Interview Questions: In a job interview, should a woman stand up when shaking hands with/greeting a female interviewer?

Men are expected to stand up when meeting a woman in most situations. But women don't usually stand up when greeting other women in social situations. What about in professional situations?

Recommended Answer:
You always stand up when meeting someone in a professional situation. Especially at an interview when you want to show particular respect for the situation and the people you're interviewing with.

If you're sitting in the waiting area of a person's office and they happen to walk by and say, "Oh, are you _____ ______ for the interview? I'll be with you in just a moment," and then they walk off, THEN it might be weird for you to stand up, given that they aren't extending a hand, etc. But other than that, any time when it would be natural for you to go shake hands with a person, you always stand up.
