Job Interview Questions: What are some positive weaknesses for a job interview?

What are some positive weaknesses for a job interview?

Is this a good one?: "I am kind of a pushover. I hate conflict and when I am in an argument with my family or friends I always take the blame so the fighting will stop. I hate when there is tension between people and I just want everyone to be happy instead of sticking up for myself."

    any other ideas?

    Job Interview Tips

    Recommended Answer:
Stay positive in your answer. A weakness is an opportunity to learn something new and show you can improve yourself. Explain how you overcame it…(took a class, worked with your boss for more training).

These types of questions, the interviewer is waiting for you to say something to screen yourself out of the job. The interviewer needs to find a good fit for their company/department…getting along with people and being positive are good qualities to have. Being a pushover is more of a personality flaw…sure you can overcome it, but it's probably better to keep your answers job related and professional. Don't give them a reason to think you're going to be a future employee problem.

Killer Job Interview Answers For Daunting Job Interview Questions

    • Not making up bullsh*t answers and telling the truth is what's best for interviews. Do you really think that employers don't know about those stupid, cliche answers? The reason that most employers (who do THOUSANDS of interviews - how many have YOU done?) ask that question is to see if you are honest or not. All of those things you are talking about are lying, pat answers. They want to see if you are real. EVERYONE has flaws. If YOU were the boss wouldn't you want to known the truth about the people you pick to hire?

    • That could be a really bad one, based on the position.

Choose an honest weakness that you have learned to moderate or overcome. Your example is still an active weakness.

Job Interview Questions: How to answer these job interview questions?

I have a job interview at mc Donald's today, how would I answer these questions if asked
Why should we pick you for the job?
    What are your strengths?
Why do you want this job?

    Recommended Answer:
Why should we pick you for the job?
---> I am a hard worker, I work well with others, I enjoy dealing with people, I have reliable transportation and am always on time.

    What are your strengths?
---> Pretty much the same answer as above but personalize it.

Why do you want this job?
---> Because I enjoy working with others, McDonald's is the world's largest fast food chain and I've always admired the company, I have a lot of fond memories of coming to McDonald's with my family and always thought it would be a great place to work.

Be honest but stay away from answers like "I really need the money" or "your the only place hiring". Really think about this question, why do you want to work there?

Working in Retirement: Job Interview Preparation

    • Dress appropriately. Be relaxed, be yourself. Be prepared to explain why you want to work for them and what you know about their company

    • look them in the eye, have a firm hand shake and make sure your fly is up (not necessarily in that order)

    • Need some extra money?
Make money at homeee using CashCrate. It's super easy just click on the link below or copy & paste.. idk lol.. and sign upp :)

      www. cashcrate. com/1328967

    • Dress appropriately
Go in there knowing a good amount about the company
Ask questions to show you're interested but not too much
For some reason they get pissed when you say "um"
Don't sit down before the person giving the interview

    • 1. Ask Intelligent questions
      2. Research the company first.
      3. Tell them why they should hire you.
      4. Do not just sit there and give short answers. Look alive.

    • Just one tip: wear a conservative outfit. Limit the jewelery and please remove any marks from your shoes. I am attempting to transfer my male rules to a female interview. The idea is make the focus on you and not a loud dress or a plaid sports coat, in the case of a male.

Job Interview Questions: How to do my hair for a job interview?

I have long red hair and I know that long hair is not very professional. Therefore I was wondering if I should wear my hair down and straight or pull it back into a professional bun for my corporate job interview. I know that it doesn't really matter in the long run, but I am stuck.

Important Job Interview Tips to Land That Job!

    • When it comes to an interview it is good to look smart, clean and tidy. Make sure the clothes you wear are ironed and clean. Make sure they have no lose threads or rips either! I think as you are a teen a nice pair of smart, black trousers with a slightly casual but smart shirt/top. As you are still young you don't want to wear a blazer cause you still want to look your age. Don't wear too much make-up either. Keeping it natural is good and having your hair of your face is good also. I hope this helps. This is what i would do anyway. GOOD LUCK!

      • dress smartly...no jeans or anything like that! also do not waer too much makeup and do your hair nice. shake interviewers hand...a nice firm handsake not one of those limp pointless ones. keep calm, tell yourself that they are not testing you but trying to see whether you are suitable for the job. also make sure you bring your CV and passport and any certificates etc that are related to the role. it is unlikely they will ask to see these, but being prepared is a good idea. i shows you will be organised in the workplace. type in 'interview questions' into google. this will bring up questions they are most likely to ask. prepare for the answers. common interview questions include
'tell us a bit about youself,
why do you want the job
why do you think you will be suitable for the job
        what are your stengths
        what are your weaknesses
how have you dealt with a difficult customer/colleague in the past
describe a stressfull situation and how you overcame this
things like that! just keep calm, answer mostly honestly! and be yourself...dont be too serious, but definately act professional. good luck and remeber the fact yo have an interview means they are interested

      • Present yourself well and display a positive and confident body language. This must reflect in your conversation also. Don't hesitate when ask questions when asked to do so by the interviewer. This shows your interest in the job. All the best!!!

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I have a job interview at a smoothie stand inside of an athletic store. I want to dress up for the interview so I'll make a good impression but I don't want to over-do it (the employees wear t-shirts, gym shorts, and running shoes). What can I wear that will look sophisticated and put together but still semi-casual?

If Job Interviews Scare the Snot Out of You

      Recommended Answer:
Never wear blue jeans while attending a job interview. Casual job interview attire is not advisable if you are serious in getting the job.
The general rule is to opt for conservative shades and designs. Bright checked shirts, loud colored blouses, and odd designed dresses are not to be worn at all.
You have to ensure that the set of dress you have decided to wear for your interview is sparklingly fresh and without any crease marks whatsoever. Also ensure that the shirt is buttoned up fully when attending the interview.

Job Interview Tips - What To Do Before And During The Interview

      • A nice pair of dark or medium jeans with flats and maybe a tweed coat or a trench with a pretty blouse might work, but if you are looking for something a bit more casual, some shorts with a long sleeve t shirt and sandals would be cute.

      • no bootie shorts! Shorts about a bit over the knee with a nice polo, or a longsleeve striped or plaid shirt. nice and plain would do the trick. nice gladiator sandals or basic flats. good luck, hope you get it!

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear for my job interview?

Myths About The HR Professional As The Candidate In The Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
This is a little off topic but in today's employment environment there are 3 critical steps that must be taken 100% of the time to successful land any job. Unfortunately, more often than not these simple steps are not taken.

      1) It doesn't matter weather the position is for a janitor or an engineer you must take the time to figure out what is important to the employer.

      2) You must be prepared for the unexpected when it comes to questions and general conversation.

      3) You will be amazed because once you have done your homework your stress levels will drop and your confidence will rise. This will put you in the front runners position no matter what the experience level of the other applicants.

You should always dress according to the employers style. If it's a casual position/employer then dress casual, if it's a strictly professional position/employer then your attire should be professional. More importantly you should always no matter casual or professional error on the conservative side....never over do it or wear extremely bright colors.

Employers hire those that respond to questions effectively and appear confident over experience the majority of the time.

This can almost guarantee your success with any job....

8 Job Interview Mistakes You Should Avoid

      • The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.

What's the appropriate dress code for an interview? You'll want that first impression to be not just a good one, but, a great one. The candidate dressed in a suit and tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate who showed up not as presentable.

      • Look at what the current employees are wearing. Go just a little nicer. I'd go with a dress shirt and a tie or the female equivalent. You're dressing for the person who has the money, e the shopper and the store manager.

How To Give Good Job Interview Answers

      Recommended Answer:
There are few things you may need to be prepared for. One of the thing is you might need to do a colour blind test. You also may need to provide some kind of criminal history clearance. Apart from that, rest is up to you and the person/people who are interviewing you. Just be yourself and don't get too uptight and display that you are intelligent, courteous, considerate and dependable for the job. Rest will come with training. Good luck!

3 Steps to a Great Job Interview

      • An open smile (without being false)

A genuine interest in talking to people (you do that a lot when spinning a roulette wheel or shuffling cards)

A quick mind for adding numbers correctly

        A cast-iron honest history

Manual dexterity for handling gaming chips

Impeccable personal hygiene and presentation (hair, clothes, make-up, shoes, hands/nails)

        Ability to work shift-work (days/nights/week-ends)

        Willingness to learn

I worked as a Croupier/Gaming Inspector in Australia, Turkey and on cruise ships, and never had any trouble getting work if I followed the above points. Good luck & enjoy - it's a great career for travelling the world!

If I remember correctly, Marshalls doesn't have a uniform. So it's okay to be a little on the casual side. A simple pair of slacks and a top. Or a low key dress. It's not really what you wear, but how you wear it. Don't wear high heels; preferably something flat. If no flats, then wear something with a low heel. But it ultimately depends on where you're working. If you were going to a big business or something, you'd want to up the professionalism of your outfit.

Do you appear neat and organized?
      Are your clothes clean?
      Properly fitting?

I'm 17 and just got a job at Sears. For my first interview, I wore a pair of flowy brown slacks with a white button down with a low heeled brown shoe, and for my second interview I wore a ruffled black & white polka dot dress with black flats. Nothing too fancy, but nothing too casual.

This is a rule I like to use, and you should try asking yourself this question when picking out interview clothes:
if they had you start work that day, would you have to go home and change?

So you should really try to fit in with what you see at Marshalls. Take note of what the other employees are wearing, and try to fit into the spectrum; you don't want to be too far above them, but you don't want to be waay at the bottom, either.

But always remember, you can still be cute! You're working at a clothes store, so you could wear a white top with ruffles near the buttons with a high waisted skirt (with or without pattern), a matching purse and low heeled shoes.

You just always want to make sure though, that you're clothes aren't too tight or too loose!
Just be presentable, and remember: it's not just about the clothes, it's also about you. (:

But if Marshalls doesn't have a uniform, which I don't believe they do, then you want to make sure that you're looking extra (but not too extra lol) cute, because they're trying to sell clothes, and you're trying to sell THEM your wardrobe! So you have to give them an idea of what you'll be wearing to work everyday. Would you buy clothes from a badly dressed person?

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get the job! (:

      • I would not wear jeans to an interview. You do not have to wear dressy pants, but wear either nice pants with a blouse and a blazer or jacket. You can wear a skirt with a nice top and jacket, as long as the skirt is not too short. It is important that you feel professional, yet comfortable, on an interview.

      • Good morning!

Dress neatly and conservatively. You want to project the best possible image of yourself, so plan and prepare a neat, businesslike outfit. You can't go wrong with a business suit. Even if the company has explicitly stated that it's a “business casual” workplace, stick with the suit. An interview is not the time to express your unique fashion sense; it's the time to show you know when it's time to follow the rules and traditions of business.

        Good luck :-)

      • Many people get stuck when they are attempting to settle what to wear at an interview. Personally I'm from the old school, I contend that formal wear is never wrong; you can get some instruction from the resource in the box below, they also have a lot of advice on job seeking.

      • Please do not wear any type of jeans to a job interview. Business casual should do. Pants and blouse.
        good luck

      • i usually wear a tube top in the summer with hot pants that are a bright color like pink and in the winter I like sweatshirts and boots. Jeans tho, never sweat pants.

      • skinny jeans with a professional blouse sounds great. I would avoid wearing really really bright colors...where something with a little color like royal blue or dark red. good luck with the interview :)

Dress for the job! If the job requires you to wear non-slip shoes and black slacks, wear that! If you are unsure, a collared shirt and slacks will suffice. There is no such thing as "overly dressy", you just may not want to wear a tux to a McDonald's interview.

      • It's a job interview...wear smart attire. A suit etc. Whether it's applying for Mcdonalds or the biggest corporation in the world you wear a suit!

      • Business attire might be overkill, but jeans are too casual. A nice pair of slacks would be ok.

Guide to a Successful Job Interview

          • My first interview went well because I actually got hired. Be sure to be friendly and include any babysitting, cleaning, or any work-like experience. Talk about any skills or activities you're in. Make the interviewer insterested in you. The more interesting you seem, the more they will consider hiring you. They will inquire about your strengths and weaknesses, along with your organization, communication, and multitasking skills. Don't just say "yes" or "no." Fully answer the questions with explainations. Good luck with the interview!

          • It all depends - because of what questions may be asked, if the interviewer is nice or mean, and how you behave while there. The only question that really pertained to how I'd be on the job was "How would you handle a problem with a customer?" and I answered, "If it is something within my control, I'll do everything in my power, 100%, to resolve it. If it's something beyond my control, I will get either a supervisor or a manager to help them." and she smiled with that answer. Make sure you're a bit talkative too! Show an outgoing side of you even if you aren't really that way! Make her/him laugh here and there. Smile a lot! ALSO when you walk in, shake his/her hand. I did all of this and landed the job right then and there. YOU decide whether it's good or bad, you know? YOU need to know YOU have it in you. :)

Dress as nice as possible, lose the earrings and crap in your face. Yes, they would probably hire you naked but leave an impression. Your representing yourself and your family. I would not wear the face stuff to work either. It's about dignity at work I guess.

Top 10 Job Interview Strategies That Guarantee Success in Your Interviews

            • Dress neat and clean. I'd lose the nose piercing as I don't believe your allowed to wear it at work. I think ears with out anything in look worse but wear something plain.
Just don't wear your jeans down to your knees and your boxers and butt out. Try for a shirt other than a tee if you have one. Make sure nothing vulgar is on it if you have only T-shirts. Think about how your parents would like you to dress and lean toward that more than you normally do. Just do the best you can with what you have. Mc D's hires lots of teenagers and they under stand I'm sure. If you have obviously tried you should do fine.
Remember the way you speak also counts. Dealing with customers is often difficult so they want someone who isn't speaking all slang or using the F word. This parts really important.
Everyone knows that the customer is NOT always right but you have to show that you can pretend you believe they are.

Good luck! This job is the beginning of the work path you'll follow all your life. A job is a job no matter where you are. Its not supposed to be fun but it can be much easier if you have the attitude you will be giving it the best you have. Do that and you will soon move on to the job you prefer.

**Lea threw in some great ideas, read them carefully.

            • about your stretched ears & nose piercing -- your best bet would have been to check out other employees in advance to see if anyone else had them. personally, i think stretched ears are a real big "no" on hiring someone, especially if they're going to be dealing with the public. and McDonald's tries to present a family friendly environment & some parents would object to the stretched ears. if you can, replace your nose piercing with something tiny and unobtrusive, and hope that the manager doesn't mind the ear adornments.

i used to hire people for a Bath and Body Works shop & you would NOT believe what people would show up wearing, or how they sometimes smelled. seriously. like they hadn't bathed for a week. and the clothes --.girls in house shoes, in flannel pajama pants, *barefoot*, dirty hair, hair in curlers, dirty dreads (there's dreads and then there's *scary* dreads -- this girl's dreads had miscellaneous items twisted up in them -- a coin, a ring, bits of ribbon. i mean, really. it looked like the dreads snuck out in the middle of the night & hunted things to wear. my fellow manager *swore* she saw a stick of gum in there.)

but i wander -- anyway. be clean. have a breath mint on the way in. wear clean clothes that aren't all wrinkled up. you shouldn't look like you either ran through your closet & let things happen as they may, or like you got dressed by picking up clothes from the floor.

there are two good ways to dress for a job interview. the first is to dress as though you already work there. going by the McD's near me, that would mean a polo style shirt and dark jeans or slacks. the other way is to dress for the job *over* the job you want to have. in McD's that'd probably mean wearing a regular shirt and a tie and slacks. if you don't have anything like that, wear a plain t-shirt and your nicest (not ripped, torn, pre-aged, or frayed) jeans.

oh -- and make sure your hands are clean, especially under your nails. what you're trying to do is present a picture of a person that the interviewer sees as already fitting in with the work environment.

but most importantly, look the manager in the eye, answer the questions completely (sometimes they toss in questions like, describe yourself in three words (don't do what my daughter did and say, pink, bunny, unicorn) -- some good words are loyal, honest, i try to communicate well (sometimes you can sneak in extra words), unflappable, calm, and energetic. (probably shouldn't use those last two together.) and at the end of the interview, say "thanks for your time." and shake hands.

              good luck

            • I'm sure they'd hire you if you showed up naked.

                Act nice

              • Wear something formal. Prepare, prepare, prepare for all and every question. It is is just like going for an exam. Make sure you take an extra copy of your CV with you.

                The Interview:
•Dress for the interview and the job. Don't overdress or look too informal.
•Nice firm handshake, before the interview if your hands are sweaty, wash them off if you can
•Have pen, notepad, extra copy of your resume (business cards if you normally use them) available where you can find them fast without fumbling through pockets or purse.
•Always go to the interview alone. Arrange for baby sitters, transportation, and other pitfalls ahead of time so that you can be on time and relaxed in the interview.
•Find common ground with the employer. Pictures, books, plants, etc., in the employer's office can be conversation interns leading into the interview (this can make both of you more comfortable).
•Express your interest in the job and the company using information you gathered to prepare for the interview.
•Let the interviewer direct the conversation.
•Answer questions in a clear and positive manner. Show how your experience and training will make you productive in the shortest time with minimal supervision.
                Note:
•Speak positively of former employers and co-workers no matter why you left even if you were fired from your last job.
•Let the employer lead into conversations about benefits. Your focus on these items can be a "turn off." But, don't be afraid to ask questions about things that you really need to know.
•When discussing salary, be flexible-avoid naming a specific salary. If you're too high, you risk not getting the job. If you're too low, you undersell yourself. Answer questions on salary requirements with responses such as, "I'm interested in the job as a career opportunity so I'm negotiable on the starting salary". Negotiate, but don't sell yourself short.
                Closing the Interview:
•If the employer does not offer you a job or say when you will hear about it, ask when you may call to find out about the decision.
•If the employer asks you to call or return for another interview, make a written note of the time, date and place.
•Thank the employer for the interview and reaffirm your interest and qualifications for the job.

5 Helpful Rules to Successful Job Interviewing

                • I agree about having a great attitude.

I would also research about CPAs, and brainstorm of ideas that can help them. There is too many people looking for jobs. You don't have want to be one of those people that's going to ask for a job. You want to be the person going there with ideas, looking to add more value to them. You help them make more money, and you will have a job guaranteed.

Also find out if you can get the list of the names of the people going there. That would really help you as well.

Job Interview Questions: What should one wear to a job interview to work at a 5 star hotel?

My brother got a call for a job interview and he said they told him to dress appropriately as if he was to work for the hotel. He said he's gonna wear part of his tuxedo, like the white shirt, tie, black vest, slacks, and dress shoes. I thought it was a little weird that he's gonna wear a black vest, it makes it too fancy. But maybe that's how it should be. Do you think it's good or what do you recommend?

Techniques To Avoid Job Interview Stress

                Recommended Answer:
While men may have less variety when it comes to workplace attire, they also are subjected to more stringent definitions of what is appropriate for the office. When it comes to deciding what to wear on an important interview, in almost every situation the more conservative the suit, the better the choice. Very few men can wear suits right off the rack, and you should always take your suit to a tailor to ensure that it fits you properly before wearing it on an interview.

                Navy Blue
Choose a two piece, solid colored, matched suit constructed from wool or a wool blend for your interview. Navy blue is a dark blue color. Do not wear a powder blue suit or a bright blue suit, or try to match your jacket with pants that are another color. Buy your pants and jacket together, so that you can ensure that they are exactly the same shade of navy blue. Unless you are interviewing for a job in a creative field such as graphic design, you should choose a jacket with two or three buttons. Four buttons may look too trendy and adding a vest looks ostentatious.

                Charcoal Grey
Charcoal grey is a dark grey color. For men, lighter colored neutrals such as dove grey and tan are seen as too informal for a job interview. Traditionally, black suits are seen as too flashy. Even though other men in the office may be wearing these colors, you need to wait until you are actually hired before you start experimenting with your look. At an interview, you want to be remembered for your qualifications and what you say, not how you look.

What to Wear with Your Suit
Choose a full-sleeve, button up shirt in white or light blue, even if it is summer. Wear a conservative silk tie that is no less than 3 1/4 inches wide. According to Career Builder, image consultants recommend a red tie for a navy blue suit or a burgundy tie for a grey suit. If you want to wear a tie with a pattern, choose a subtle pattern. Do not wear a tie with cartoon characters on it. Wear black socks that cover your ankles, and black leather shoes with a matching belt. Carry a briefcase or portfolio with you instead of a backpack or loose papers, and remove any jewelry other than a wedding ring or watch.Read more: The Best Color Suit for Men to Wear on Interviews | eHow.com www.ehow.com/list_6860795_color-s…

10 Job Interview Tips That Will Help You Make a Good Impression

                • As long as he wears a normal tie (tied with a Windsor or half Windsor knot) rather than a bow-tie then his outfit is fine, though slacks seem a little informal, he should wear formal trousers but not evening trousers (ie with a silk stripe and most certainly he should not wear a cummerbund or braces but a belt), he will probably have to dress similarly if he gets the job.

                • To any interview, you should wear a shirt, tie, suit jacket and pants. Not a tuxedo. That is prom. You wear a suit. First impressions are huge. They will probably tell you that you are overdressed, and they will tell you to dress down, but they will love to see that you are formally dressed. Works every single time. Wearing a suit shows class and sophistication.

                • He should wear black trouser (ironed) White shirt (ironed) black blazer (ironed) and a tie with a appropriate shoe, no trainer

                • I would just wear a suit.

Job Interview Preparation - Three Key Steps

                • This is a little off topic but in today's employment environment there are 3 critical steps that must be taken 100% of the time to successful land any job.

                • This should be okay. Still, some companies (especially the bigger ones) do require a lot of documents. You can always get your birth certificate from the statistics office. You can even do this online if you want.

Get a Job: 5 Tips for Doing a Mock Job Interview With a Friend

                • It is always an uncomfortable process, but you can make it as painless as possible by being prepared. Know what job you are interviewing for and know a little bit about what they are going to expect from the person they hire.

They may ask these random questions like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" and things like that. Just be calm and try to be as honest as you can, using the job as a context. That is - say something like "In 5 years I expect that I will be in a position to supervise the job I am being hired for today, and look forward to the opportunities this company has to offer." Get the idea?

All interviews are different. Some are very quick. Some take hours, when you talk to several people one at a time. Sometimes you are interviewed by a group of people.

                  Know the company.
Know your skills and what you have to offer.
                  Be positive.
Ask questions about whether there will be any travel, etc. But don't ask specifically about money, unless they offer you the job or they bring up the subject.

                  Good luck!

                • When you walk into the interview, smile and exude confidence. Let your sparkling personality shine! It's a well known fact that many times SOFT SKILLS will trump HARD SKILLS. Answer each question with honesty and clarity, highlighting any special skills or traits that are a good match for the position. Do mention something to the effect that you are looking for a new challenge, to broaden your horizons, and to gain a new skill set - all of which you see the potential for in this job. Within 24-48 hours after an interview, it is standard protocol to sent a thank-you-letter to your interviewer. Here's a great source for thank-you-letter wording examples: www.freethankyounotes.com. Look for the section: JOB INTERVIEW THANKS. I wish you luck and success in landing the job! You can do it!!!

                • Don't get nervous - employers like confident people.

You might be asked about strengths and weaknesses - for weaknesses don't say "some people say I work too hard" this sounds really corny. You could say something along the lines of, "when under pressure I've made some minor errors" and be prepared to give some examples of this.

Don't raise your eyebrows when smiling - this makes you look too eager, sketchy, someone who might get dominated too easily, not confident etc

Job Interview Questions: Job interview with another candidate at the same meeting - how do I handle this?

I have a job interview next week with another candidate, my competition, also at the same meeting. I'm looking for any tips or suggestions of how to handle this situation.

It's a lunch interview, which itself isn't that unusual, but I have never, ever heard of having 2 candidates interview together for the same position.

I'm guessing it's more of a test of each of our personalities and how we deal with stressful situations than it is anything else.

Because this is such a unique type of interview, any advice about it would be greatly appreciated.

There's not a lot to know. Dress neatly - nothing low cut or short. Turn off your cell phone. Shake hands when you meet. Look at the interviewer when you speak to them. You'll probably be asked what days & hours you can work once school starts. If you have your own transportation. If you feel you can get along with others to work as a team. It won't be a real in depth interview for a food court job so don't worry about it. You'll be fine.

                  • •Do not smoke, chew gum, or eat garlic beforehand.
                    •Wear suitable interview clothes.
•Take copies of your CV with you.
•Arrive on time for your job interview.
•Any applications handed before the interview begins, are to be filled in as accurately as possible, make sure they match the information in your Cv and Cover Letter.
•Always greet the interviewer by his/her last name and try to pronounce it correctly.
                    •Have a good firm handshake.
•Look alert and interested. Scan the room once and then keep your eyes on the interviewer.
•Wait until you are offered a chair before you sit down.
                    •Stress your achievements.
•Always conduct yourself professionally and if something beyond your control occurs, show a sense of humor.
•Be enthusiastic and show it in your replies and body language.
•Answer the interview question by more than a simple yes or no but try not to go over the 60 second limit.
•Avoid at all cost complaining about your current or former employer in your job interview.
•Do not answer questions about politics or religion if the job is completely unrelated.
•Do not raise salary discussions on your first interview - this is usually done on the second interview. Make sure you do your wage research before hand.

Your answer to the initial opening statements in the job interview are important, these are called "ice breakers".

Some times the interviewer will ask whether you had difficulty finding the company premises. Your answer should be brief and polite. The interviewer is merely being polite - if you had problems in finding the premises he/she doesn't need to know that.

                    Use replies such as:
•I'm fine thank you, and you?
                    •I'm very well, thank you.

These replies express a careless attitude:
                    •So, so
                    •OK
                    •Not so well

Research the company, review your resume, and practice with someone. Look over these a and a's: financialhighway.com/30-most-comm…

Bring extra copies of your resume with you. Bring a pen and paper in case you want to jot something down (ask politely first). A trick I've heard of is to bring a thank you card, after the interview fill it in and walk back in to hand it to the employer.

Be positive. They want you to do well so that they can stop looking. :)

if you interview with mcdonald's for a cashier job, or for a swiming teacher, you should always look as professional as a CEO! this applied to fancy sox. i learned that in college, and it was one of the few things that i still remember. here are some guidelines on what to wear:
Men and women should wear a suit (two pieces cut from the same cloth). Colors: dark blue, or medium to dark gray. Black is acceptable, but some find it too authoritative. Fabric: solid or subtle pinstripe, plaid or tweed.
Women: may wear conservative jewelry, no larger than dime-size earrings on the earlobe.
Men and women may carry a black, brown, or maroon leather portfolio.

You could probably go an apply for the same job at a different branch because each location likely has their own hiring manager. However, you might want to wait a month or so just to be on the safe side. Also if something about you missing this job interview ever comes up in a job interview, be honest, own up to your mistake, and mention it won't happen again.

                    • A definite NO-NO. Never bring up salary or benefits until you are offered the job. If you give a number or range (even if they ask), you put yourself at a disadvantage or disqualify yourself. Jobs are hard to get; I would not risk it with that answer.

A better answer would be, "I'm seeing a new challenge where I can use my skills and abilities..." (Then go on to list what they are).

                    • 100% NO

With the economy the way it is, if you show up with anything less than "How can much work can I do, and how little can you pay me" style of thinking and attitude, you probably won't get it.

As a business owner I can tell you we are getting 10 times more than usual resumes. Unfortunately for employees it is extremely competitive. A lot of people are willing to work twice as long for half as much. We even have people in professional fields willing to work for FREE just for experience in a non-internship position. While we don't stoop to that level, it is a real eye opener and I felt a sense of obligation to let people who are seeking jobs know what's going on behind the company doors.

Attached is an EXCELLENT article regarding this situation that you MUST read. I think it will further clarify what is going on is this economy right now.
