Job Interview Questions: What are questions that are asked during and elementary teacher's job interview?

What are some good possible answers to these questions?

Prepare for a Great Job Interview With These Questions and Answers

Recommended Answer:
Well, I'm not going to give you the answers, because if you are a competent teacher, you should be able to answer them satisfactorily. Some questions are: What is your teaching philosophy? How do support students with special needs or ESL in you classroom? How would you deal with a student who refuses to do what is asked? What would you say your biggest strength is? Your weakness? What is your approach to planning lessons or units? How do you manage your students' different needs? What teaching methods do you use? How do you deal with a parent that disagrees with your teaching methods?

Job Interview Skills - What You Must Have to Land the Job

  • Every interview is going to be different depending on the person doing the interviewing. Most likely though, you will be asked about your interest in teaching...why in the world you would be nuts enough to willingly put your success in the hands of kids who don't even have all of their teeth yet! There are some stock answers (almost like 'world peace' in a beauty pageant) that revolve around impacting kids and making a difference in the world. Those are terrific, but find something that singles you out some. Think of a specific task, like improving reading skills or really inspiring kids to come to school everyday. Make it real!

Most bosses will ask 'what you have to offer' the school. Think of words that describe you. Honestly. You are marketing yourself so get somebody to help you with super adjectives (passionate, creative, innovative, patient, persistent, flexible, eager, determined, energetic...again, go for interesting and unusual words that will catch some body's attention)

Talk to somebody in the school system you are looking at if you can. Find out what you can about the general atmosphere of the school. Some people will ask about your philosophy of discipline or what you teach. I had a principal who refused to hire anybody who said that they taught a subject. The answer was 'I teach children'. One department managed instead of disciplined.

Think about your out of school experience and how that can help you. extra curricular work can be invaluable in other schools sometimes, like coaching, tutoring, after school work, and so on. Drama, student council, beta club, and other organizations often need sponsors. If you mention experience or interest in those you may get a raised eyebrow.

Be yourself. The last thing you want to do is get put in a place that isn't where you belong. For some people teaching kindergarten is like kicking a fire ant mound. For others it is heaven. Some teachers prefer the sense of humor of older students. Others can't stand the immaturity of older grades. You have to know yourself.

Don't be afraid to ask your own questions. That shows interest and forethought. Act engaged and curious and be sure to ask the supervisor what area/grade/specialty they were in....you can always mention that you look forward to gaining insight from them in the future :)

  • OK, i am a retired teacher, I have been interviewed in my years and have also been on the interviewing group
So, many times when you are being interviewed, the first thing the principal is looking for is someone he can "control" or someone who will fit his/her agenda, You may not like to hear that, but I find it true, so so true and so sad,
Rarely in an interview is the hiring person, usually the principal , looking for the most talented,............. infact if you are smarter or more talented than the hiring person, they often don't want you, you will make them look bad. many don't want to believe me, but this is the truth ;)
They are looking for someone who will "fit the bill" which may mean
" can get along with teaching partners, or ???????? mostly about getting along with the principal or others :) The principal's goal is rarely the students first. It is about how to make him look good as a principal so his school looks the best. Most won't tell you this ;) But when I was on the interviewing board, boy did I learn a lot. Our entire teacher board might have voted for one person to hire and the principal would just over ride it with some flimsy excuse, So if you want to "get the job" try to ask some subtle questions back to get a feel for what " niche' they are trying to fill. Once we had an old slightly dementia teacher so they wanted to hire someone who wouldn't expose her and yet could carry off 4th grade without paying attention to her ! Do you get it ?

  • What are your strengths? just be honest about this one.
What are your weaknesses? turn this one around - make your weakness sound like a strength - like you spend too much time at school, you love to help with fundraisers, you spend a lot of your off time reading educational books, you really enjoy looking and analyzing data...etc.
How would you collaborate with your peers? share ideas on sharing, working together, supporting new teachers, creating a sharing file - check the internet for other ideas on this one.
How do you integrate technology in your classroom? offer suggestions for using computers and interactive whiteboards - principals like research, interactive websites, webquests, and typing activities - spelling lists, that sort of typing practice.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I'm 17. The interview is at the local McDonald's, and the interview is in less than 2 hours. I'm leaning toward brown dress slacks, a short sleeve (we're in the south and it's hot) button down light and dark brown casual striped shirt, black belt and black shoes. Please let me know if the outfit is appropriate and if not please give adequate details to an appropriate one. Thanks and hurry!

  • Thats plenty appropriate but make sure you are groomed to the tee(shoes polished; shirt tucked-in;teeth brushed, hair combed, manners updated.)

  • That sounds good. Now when you get there, check your appearance to make sure you don't have wind blown hair or something.

  • Sounds good to me. Tuck in that shirt.

  • That sounds good to me, as well.

Job Interview Questions: After a Job Interview should I send a Thank You Letter by mail or email or both?

Last Wednesday I had an on-site interview with four people, two I will be working directly with and two others I will be working with indirectly. I only received the contact information for the person I will be reporting directly to. I sent a Thank You letter by mail on Thursday of last week, with my best penmanship possible, but I am worried it may not have gotten there. Would it be appropriate to also send a follow-up email Thank You Letter?

I need a quick answer please.
Thank You,

Nathan Jones

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear at a job interview on a hot day?

I'm going to my first interview for a job as a cashier at Walgreens. It's supposed to be really hot tomorrow. I have dress clothes, but most importantly how necessary is the tie?

From the Eyes of a Job Interviewer

    Recommended Answer:
A tie isn't really that necessary. I was going to recommend a skirt and a tank, but because your asking about a tie, I'm guessing your a guy, especially because your name is "Jason" (:

If I were you, I would wear khaki pants and a short sleeved collared shirt. You just want to look neat. No need for a blazer, Oxford shirt, and tie. I don't think you'll overheat in the khaki pants, either. Aren't the interviews conducted inside?
    ~ Caty

    Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

    • Wear dress pants, a short sleeved shirt with no tie and polished shoes. Comb your hair and make sure your face is clean. If you're going for a fancy place the tie would be important if it's just your local McDonalds then the tie wouldn't really matter.

    • You gotta look good either way, no matter the weather.

I mean, it's not like you'll have the interview outside, right? I doubt Walgreens wouldn't hire you because you didn't have a tie.

    • Nothing:)

Or only boxers with homer simpson will be nice
      unless your a girl
then a hot pink bra and matching panties will do the thing (y)

      GOODLUCK on your job interview!

    • A cashier at Walgreens? A job can't get any more pathetic than that. They take any scumbag, do you honestly think they care what you wear?

Job Interview Questions: If a job interview is short, does that mean I didn't get the job?

I had a job interview for my first job with Macy's a few weeks ago. It was only about 20 minutes. Does that mean I didn't get it? (Also they said they're not hiring until October, so I don't even know why they called me in.)

Know How Important the Job Interview Questions Are

    Recommended Answer:
it would be rare for a retail job that the interview be more than 30 minutes so no.

Also October is not that far away.

    call them in a week.

edit when i had my interview at JCPEnney in 2003 it was 5 minutes, and i was hired

How to Succeed in a Job Interview

    • Twenty Minutes is average for a retail interview, I would not worry about it. They are pre qualifying because their hiring season is a month away. I would hand write a thank you note and follow up periodically.

      Good Luck to you

    • not necessarily. Remember Oct is right around the corner..don't get discouraged. Just keep looking and if they call, they call..if not.. move on! Good luck!

    • NO yaar not at all...my operations round wid my latest job was only for 5 mins...whereas ops round is normalyy is never less tha 10 mins

Job Interview Questions: Should you forcefully hide your religion and sexual orientation on a job interview or at job?

There are many taboo topics during job interviews but is it actually illegal for a potential employer or a current employer to ask your religion or sexual orientation? I'm not sure how or why they would want to know but if they do ask, what is a polite way of saying you don't want to release that information?

This question is mostly for homosexuals, bisexuals and non-christians since those are the minorities.

The Ten Secrets For a Great Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
Im heterosexual, but I actually did have someone ask me in an interview once what my sexual orientation was. I responded "I do not intend to be disrespectful, but could you tell me how that is relevant to the position I've applied for?" All she said was "It isn't." I smiled, and she moved on with the interview. I'm pretty sure I could have made some noise about that, but I just dismissed it as her personal ignorance.

I'm not sure if that's illegal or not, but it should be. A person could easily tell you they are gay and then scream discrimination when they don't get the job.

How To Prepare For Your Job Interview

    • I haven't seen any application, asking if you are Muslim, Homosexual or bisexual. Sorry, that might have that kind of stuff your country but not in America. Besides, your interviewer can not ask you those personal question.

    • It's just none of their business really. They won't ask because they probably don't care and it would be illegal to refuse you a job because you're gay or because of your religion.

    • It is illegal. Your personal beliefs and lifestyle choices shouldn't matter. What should matter is if you can get the job done efficiently.

    • Those issues should be irrelevent in the workplace

    • You shouldn't hide it, but they can't ask that because that's illegal.

    • How is it force when know one is putting a gun to your head?
      or
      threatening you??

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview?

I have two job interviews coming up for marketing assistant positions in companies based in central london.
I haven't had an interview since I was 16 and that was for a retail position I'm still holding.

I've just graduated, and I don't own a suit. I don't want to seem overdressed anyway. And don't want to seem too boring either. Any ideas? I was thinking a pencil skirt, coloured blouse and cardigan or something along those lines....

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my first job interview ever?

Im going for a job interview at a store like home depot/lowes/rona, for a cashier job, but im from a lower class family and all of my clothes are really ratty and have holes all through them... What should i do? this will be my first job and I obviously dont have money for nice clothes

Brush Up on Your Job Interview Skills and Ace The Interview

      Recommended Answer:
Maybe you could go to a thrift store or Goodwills or something and try to buy decent looking clothes...if not then just try to look your best and do with what you have. Image is important but attitude and personality are even more valuable in employees, especially if you're working as a cashier and face people. I'm sure you'll do fine and good luck! ^.^

      Don't Blow Your Job Interview

      • Are you a girl or a boy?
        If your a girl:
I nice button up sweater with a plain shirt under and either dress pants or a nice skirt
(for the tops and pants try to stay away from patterns)

        If your a boy:
A nice dress shirt (Blue or white) And some dress pants
(If you wanna make it more casual roll up the sleeves just to the forearms on the shirt)

With either of these outfits an alternate pretty casual option for pants is a nice clean pair of jeans
Also you can get these clothes at the local thrift store or borrow some from a good friend (maybe the one your using internet from?)

      • For a job like this, khaki pants, black shoes (be sure to shine them) and a white short sleeve button down collared shirt should be quite appropriate. You can get all that at a thrift store for less than $20. If you don't have the money then borrow it because if you go to the interview looking tacky you will not be hired. You never get a second chance at a first impression.
Also, you may even get the clothes for free if you check with your local charities. There are many organizations that collect clothes expressly for the purpose of providing decent clothing to people for job interviews. One of them is the Urban League but there are several others.

      • Check out your local goodwill store or salvation army store. They usually have some cheap nice clothes.

you should definitely wear at least business casual. Nice slacks and a tucked in buttoned shirt with a collar if you're a guy.

      • if you got money for a computer and internet connection i'm sure you have money for clothing,

      • A nice collared shirt and Black pants with nice looking shoes

      • just borrow nice clothes from a friend :)

      • go to the goodwill, get a nice pair of slacks and a nice blouse, low heels, done

      • Hit the local resale shop. You'll find something worth wearing for cheap.

      • Khakis and a Polo

      • a cowboy hat and a g-string, what else?

Job Interview Questions: What should I expect when going to a job interview?

-I have a job interview with Books-A-Million tomorrow, this is my first real job interview, what should I expect?
-What general questions are going to be asked?
-I know that I'm supposed to leave the salary business for last but what if that can not be avoided?
      -How should I dress?

Job Interview Skills: What Does The Employer Want To Hear?

      Recommended Answer:
Semi formal, don't go into an all out formal dress.
THey will ask you about work ethic and what kind of person and personality you have.
Don't ask about salary. And if you ask, just ask nicely, it's not a taboo, that reason you want to work is for the money.

Job Interview Questions: What are some questions i should expect from a job interview?

I've got a job interview tomorrow with the store oasis. Just to get me prepared I need some taster questions, thanks.

It is Important For Every Job Seeker to Know About the Job Interview

      Recommended Answer:
Clothing should be smart, but make sure you're comfortable! Dependent on the company you may need to dress in either formal or casual attire if in doubt stick to formal.

REMEMBER: you have 60 seconds after each question before the interviewer loses interest, so keep answers short and to the point! 5 seconds is all you have to make a good first impression it's not long so make sure it is the right one.

Firstly allow plenty of time to arrive and settle in about 10 Min's before the interview is a good time to arrive, make yourself know to someone who works there, and explain your purpose of visit for example '' good morning / afternoon my name is ********* and i have an interview at *********''. If you don't know who your interviewer is then skip to the time. or you could just say '' good morning / afternoon I have an interview at ****'' they will then alert your interviewer of your arrival.

      Remember to greet your interviewer with a smile and shake their hand if they extend it first! En route to the interview room they may give you a pep talk and ask some questions such as '' did you find us ok? '' so even if you had to take 3 buses and got lost 4 times, just say you found everything ok. as if you start moaning it can leave an impression on the interviewer. It's sneaky but most companies are during the hiring process.If there are two interviewers then one will be asking questions and one will be observing your body language and your responses. this is another sneaky way of doing it but it helps them to see you from all angles. if there is just one then your fine but don't let your guard down ;)Ok now to the tricky part what you will be asked;

Each interviewer has their own technique but the general questions are mostly the same.

      A typical interview will have the following structure;

      Icebreakers-

These are to settle you in but don't let your guard down and say something you know you shouldn't, so be vigilant at all times. The types of questions may include hobbies etc. but try to relate them to the job you're applying for, for example '' I am in the school netball team and this allows me to understand teamwork and the benefit of it to achieve a single goal''Company

This section is a little trickier and you have to think about your answers but one major flaw most people make is not to fully understand the question being asked so if you're not sure feel free to ask the interview to repeat the question. this type of question may be '' why do you want to work for us?'' or ''what skills do you think you could bring to the team?'' etc. just be honest and try to keep your answers to the point (you don't need to use fancy words, just tell them the main point) but do not roll off the company's website like a robot, put it into your own words.

      Experience and Competency Questions

This will test your skills against a list of competencies that are essential for the job, so Team Working, Customer Focus, Time Management etc. Are crucial competencies that you will have to demonstrate, in this situation I suggest you use the STAR technique. look it up online. You may be asked about a weakness and how you overcame it, be sure to focus mainly on the steps you took to overcome this weakness.Miscellaneous

This is just where you include qualifications or experience; they may ask what tasks you have done in your previous jobs. They will also ask if you have any pre booked holiday with your current employer and how much notice you are required to give to your current employer.Situation Questions

Ok now these questions are very sneaky most big companies' use them but some smaller ones may also. Now the trick to getting these questions right is to fully understand them as i mentioned before. For example:'' it's a busy day and the manager gives you a task to complete, after 30 minutes your assistant manager asks you to do another task, but you have not finished the task set by the manager. What would you do?'' this is not the question you will be asked but it's to give you an idea of situation questions. The best way to answer is to put yourself in the situation and think how you would react.

Just remember this is assessing how you react in situations so just think on your feet.

Ok if you get through all of this they will then start talking about the job and tasks in entails. they will also chat about uniform and pay and also when you will be told when you will receive your results from the interview some may tell you on the day or ring you or send you a letter this process can take anything from a few hours for a phone call to 14 days dependent on the number of applicants.

Then when the interview is over be sure to shake the hand of your interviewer, tell them how lovely it was to meet them and thank them for taking the time to see you. (Its cheesy but it can make a big difference ;) )I hope this information is a help to you

Job Interview Questions: What do I wear to a Guitar Center job interview?

I have a job interview at Guitar Center and I am a female. I am at a loss of what to wear; I've never attended a job interview before. I also don't know what to wear since it's Guitar Center. Help!

How to Prepare the Best Job Interview Answers

      Recommended Answer:
An interview is an interview...I don't care if it's at IBM or Guitar Center.

You should always dress better than the employees there on an interview. At the high tech company I work at, there's a very relaxed dress code for those of us in Research and Development (in fact, the only rule is that you have to wear shoes on the first flow and in manufacturing). However, I expect a candidate at an interview to at least have some decent slacks and a nice shirt (at least something like a polo style).

For GC, you don't need to wear a suit, but don't fly your freak flag at the interview. You could probably get away with some nice jeans or slacks, and a blouse (or a nice T shirt with a jacket with it).

I know I'm going to get slammed here, but I interview people and I'm just saying what I'm looking for. If you come in dressed professionally, you'll make a much better impression. And here's another little secret...most interviewers know in 5 minutes or less if you're right for the job or not. How you dress, speak, and carry yourself conveys just as much information to the interviewer as does your resume.

And since this is your first interview, let me give you some other tips as well:

      - Know something about the company you're interviewing with. With the Internet, there's not reason not to already know how big the company is, how many stores they have, when they were founded, and last years sales figures. If someone comes into an interview knowing things like that, it tells me they're serious about working there. It might now come up, but if the interviewer asks "so...what do you know about GC?", you've got a very powerful answer.

      - Have answers about yourself ready to go. A good interviewer is going to ask you things like "why do you want to work here" (and "I need the money" is not a good answer). They could also ask something like "what has been your biggest success" or "your biggest failure and what did you learn from it". Think that through before the interview.

      - The big one for me...maintain eye contact. If a person can't look me in the eye, I've got no use for them. Don't turn it into a staring contest, but don't look down at your lap when you're answering a question. I had a brilliant technician come in on an interview. On paper, this guy rocked. But, he never looked me in the eye and so I passed on him. Another group in the company wound up hiring him, but he didn't last.

      - Don't talk salary...let them bring it up. For a retail position, there's probably no negotiations there. This sounds like your first job in this kind of business, so just get in the door.

      - Some interviewers will give you the opportunity to ask questions. You need to have one ready...something like "if I do well in (whatever position you're applying for), what kind of path for advancement exists with the company".

      - Be aware of your body language. Sitting with your arms crossed sends the signal of being on the defensive. Leaning in when someone is speaking says "I'm interested in what you are saying".

I know this is a lot more than you asked, but I wish someone had passed all of this along to me when I first started working. Good luck to you.

      Greetings from Austin, TX

      Ken

Job Interview Tips Begin With Knowing the Process
      • Wear a Jimi Hendrix T-shirt, or maybe a Stevie Ray Vaughn T-shirt, maybe a Metallica shirt if this place caters to rock 'n rollers. If it's a place that country musicians are the main customers wear something that fits in there, like a Johnny Cash shirt. Wear guitar-shaped ear-rings, a Black Sabbath or Ozzy Shirt or Led Zepplin. I'd wear a "Madman Bites the Bat" T-shirt with Ozzy biting the head off a bat on the front of it or a "Diary of a Madman" Ozzy shirt. And a foxy long flowing dress and some comfortable walking shoes, nothing fancy. A guitar necklace or even a guitar-maker's shirt ( I think it says "Fender")that says "Play it Loud" and there's a guitar on the front of it.
