Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow morning, what is the right etiquette to cancel at the last min?

Spoke to the interviewer on the phone and I really didn't like her. I am getting a bad vibe and it feels like somebody I wouldn't get along with.

How can I reject them without offending them? I have already called up once to reschedule. :(

No Time To Prepare For The Job Interview?

Recommended Answer:
Just go and get the interview practice. It's a little late to cancel and the more opportunities you get to practice with interviewers that make you uncomfortable, the better. You don't have to take the job if you don't think it's for you. And you might be surprised, you might like her and the job. Sometimes initial impressions are wrong.

Job Interview - 4 Ways to See Yourself as Job Interviewers Do

  • call them first thing and apologize for the inconvenience and then explain that you dont feel like you are suited for the position.

  • With an attitude like that you will be looking for work for a long time. It's not important to like the interviewer. It's important to impress her and get the job. Show up for the interview. Prove to yourself you can get the job if you want it. Good luck

  • I would call them and tell them that you will not be coming to the interview as....my circumstances have changed, but thank you very much. If they ask you why (they are just being nosey which is not professional), just say ... that is really not relevant at this point, but again thank you for your interest in me. Then hang up.

I don't think you should use this as a "practice interview". Because of the fact that you already do not care for this person at all, it would actually turn out to be a very "bad experience" which would not help your self esteem by any stretch of the imagination.

Remember, you are under no obligation to go to the interview, anymore than they could change their mind on you at the last minute also! Go with your guy feelings!
    Best to you,
    Andie

  • Great. By speaking with one person on the phone, you don't think you'll get along. You don't really want a job, do you? Don't even bother to make an excuse, just call and cancel the interview. Thank them nicely for the consideration and be done with it.
