Job Interview Questions: Should you mention you're a university dropout at a job interview?

If you had an interview with a large multinational corporation, would they be unimpressed if you mentioned you didn't complete a university course and dropped out, thinking you're lazy or something; or would they be impressed you've had some university education? Should I mention I went or not?

Mistakes to Avoid When Answering Tricky Job Interview Questions

Recommended Answer:
I wouldn't say you "dropped out" I'd come up with a better excuse/reason. Otherwise they'll think you have no follow through. Tell them that you had to leave due to financial reasons and that you'd like to go back to school. Also only bring this stuff up if they ask.

Oil Rigs Employment - Some Facts About the Oil Rig Job Interview

  • One should never volunteer an answer unless asked. If you are asked that question, do not respond that you dropped out. Be legitimate that you had left to pursue employment opportunities that match your career goal in mind and that you plan to return to obtain your degree nights or weekends if possible. Your plan is to create a win-win situation for you and the company you plan to work for.

Good luck in your career goals.

  • I think it depends on what the reason is why you dropped out. I think if it's because you couldn't afford the course, then I think they would understand. But if it's because you couldn't handle it academically, I think it wouldn't improve your chances.

  • Don't mention it, it will make you look bad.

But if somehow they find out and asks about it, lie, tell them that you had to drop University because you were unable to pay for the fees.

  • if you don't have a college degree, chances are you won't even be qualified or considered for most corporate jobs

Job Interview Questions: Should I go to this job interview?

I have a second job interview later today, but I'm not sure whether I should go or not.

I know it's a sales job, but if I get there and find out it's door-to-door sales then that's it for me, I don't believe in door selling.

But the interviewer did say I'd have administration training and that I'd sometimes be working with a team of up to 90 people, which makes me think it's not door selling.

Is it worth going?

Job Interview Questions: Help! sister hating me for getting a job interview before her?

im 14, my sister is 17, we are both looking for jobs, and i got a job interview after looking for about 3 weeks, she has been looking for months and hasnt gotten anything, and since i got the interview she has been horrid to me and says she will hate forever if i get the job, how can i calm her down? nothing i say works, should i take the job? or ditch it?

Job Interview Success - How to Go After Your Dream Job

    Recommended Answer:
dont ditch your job because your sister is mad at you, just tell her it was luck you were at the right place at the right time, it might calm her down.

if you want to irritate her tell her they only hire competent people :D.

Job Interview Questions - Interview Techniques to Prepare You to Ace Your Interview!

    • Take it she is just being selfish because she is thinking about her and if she really weren't selfish she would be like well done your lucky to get a job etc but she is just being stuck up just ignore her she will soon get bored. And just help her get a job it may help or take her out for a meal or something just to be nice. Good luck!

    • Well done for getting an interview. It's tough finding work and it's too bad your sister hasn't found anything but her attitude stinks and maybe this is why she is still unemployed. Definitely go for the job interview and take the job if offered. Why on earth should you be unemployed to make her feel better? Your parents should talk to her about her attitude with you as it's embarrassing. Tell her that you got the interview fair and square and you want her to do well too but someone elses success or failure doesn't change anything in her life. If you back down now you'll be cancelling your wedding in ten years because she is jealous. She's being pathetic. Ignore her after you have spoken to her calmly. What 17 year old stamps her feet in a huff and says she will never speak to her sister again over this kind of thing? Cringeworthy. Good luck. I hope you get it.

Job Interview Questions: What to wear to a job interview?

I have a job interview this friday with a movie theatre. I was wondering what I should wear. I don't think it is very formal. But I want to give a good first impression. So any ideas on what I should wear?

Job Interview Techniques - How to Crack the Interview Code

    Recommended Answer:
Even though you don't think it's very formal, you should still dress nicely. Wear a nice pair of dress pants and a nice dressy shirt with some good dress shoes. This shows the manager that you are well put together and you care about the way you look. 9 times out of 10 the person who is dressed up even if it's not a formal interview will get the job. It's all about the impression you give.

Job Interview Questions: What should I expect at a job interview?

Tomorrow is my first Job interview at Marie calendars. What happens?

Mistakes to Avoid When Answering Tricky Job Interview Questions

    Recommended Answer:
Different employers will ask different questions. Some are only interested in more basic questions (Why should I hire you? What sets you apart from other applicants? What would you do with an angry customer?), while others may present you with scenarios (A customer complains that his hamburger isn't completely cooked. What do you do? The co-worker who is supposed to show up to take your shift is late. What do you do?), or ask you to reflect on past experiences (Tell me about a time when you had to...). I would recommend researching a little bit about the company online before going to the interview. While your answers to their questions are important, your personality is equally - if not more - important. You can be an honors student who has won every award, but if they don't like your personality, it will really affect your chances of getting the job. So be friendly, be confident, and try to relax. Even if you don't get the job, you can take note of what you did well and what you would like to improve on for future reference. Thank the interviewer after the interview, and don't be afraid to ask questions! Not asking questions can show a lack of interest in the position.

    Good luck!

I never worked at jc penny (sorry) but i did take a class on how to get a job. they told us, navy blue is a power color, if you are a girl, wear a dress that goes below the knees, and low heels or no heels. light makeup and make sure you do not smell bad. if you smoke, try to wear something that doesnt smell like coke. prepare like 1 or 2 questions for the interviewer and maybe keep an idea in mind about how much you would like to be paid /if/ they ask. come in maybe 5 minutes early. never accept anything to eat they offer, but always accept a drink, or bring in maybe a bottle of water, this way you can take a sip and think about the question for a moment. if they ask what is a negative thing about you, which they almost always ask, turn it into a positive, like " i sometimes get too focused on my work." or something to that effect. thats all i can think of off the top of my head, hope this helps
