Job Interview Questions: Job interview with another candidate at the same meeting - how do I handle this?

I have a job interview next week with another candidate, my competition, also at the same meeting. I'm looking for any tips or suggestions of how to handle this situation.

It's a lunch interview, which itself isn't that unusual, but I have never, ever heard of having 2 candidates interview together for the same position.

I'm guessing it's more of a test of each of our personalities and how we deal with stressful situations than it is anything else.

Because this is such a unique type of interview, any advice about it would be greatly appreciated.

Be very gracious to your "competition" and listen attentively to all conversations. This type interview isn't unusual at all for sales jobs. They are seeing how you do in cold call situations that are very undefined.

Job Interview Dress Code - Dressing for Success

  • Are you sure there aren't two positions available?
I'm a HR Consultant working with clients in size from 5 employees to 25000 employees.
I have never heard of having two candidates attend the same session, if there is only one position available. I don't know what the reasoning would be, your guess is as good as any.

This is my advice: remember, recruitment is a two-way analysis. You get to interview the company as much as they get to interview them. If it appears a fiasco, it probably is a fiasco. Unless you have to take he job because you don't have other options and need something = more on.

  • For an Interview you must be prepared. Interviewers are looking for the talented one by the interviews. You will get all the tips and guidlines for the interview from this website

  • It's a group interview. if there were more applicants, there might be five or six of you. Not unique at all except for the fact the group is just two
