Job Interview Questions: Is it okay to wear jeans and a nice shirt to a job interview?

If it helps, the job is a graphic design job.

I think I'd still look presentable, I'm just not sure what other people would think

Top 7 Ways to Prepare For a Successful Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
No, in general people doing interviews have completely pointless expectations and will prejudge a person based upon the simplest item of clothing that doesnt fit their expectations especially in fields where your generally expected to work within an office environment. Interviewers as a general rule within corporations expect the whole shirt, tie and suit trousers look and whilst they may be willing to let you work in jeans after getting the job as far as interviews go you are expected to look like you made an effort for them and quite simply in today's world jeans and a shirt would not send that message, how you dress for an interview tells them about your character (at least they in general as far as corporations go think it does) it tells them about your work ethic and your attitude in general.

Jeans are a relaxed look they send the message of effortlessness and not the message of proffessionalism that a suit and tie clearly sends out.

Job Interview Questions: Do Express stores only do group interviews? Job interview advice?

I have a job interview at Express tomorrow and I'm very nervous. While talking to one of the employees at the store she mentioned her interview was a group interview. Do all Express stores do them by default?
Also any advice on group interviews/ regular interviews would be appreciated!

How To Give Good Job Interview Answers

      Recommended Answer:
Do all Express stores do them by default?
You have to ask the interviewer or manager if all Express stores do them by default.

For group interviews, be polite and enthusiastic. No need to boast or put others down. Nonetheless, be aggressive in answering questions that will arise and input courteous comments here and there.
Be prepared by practicing in the mirror and in front of your friends/families. Make sure you know what to say by answering sample questions. Be attentive and ask clever questions to the interviewer.
Be tactful and stay positive. These advices also pertain to regular interviews. Make sure to make a good impression by being professional :)

Job Interview Tips to Help You Wow Your Interviewers and Land the Job

      • I hate group interviews. They do this to save money and time, which I find revolting.
If the company has enough money to run a multimillion dollar outfit, they certainly have time to spend with each applicant, seperately.

Not all stores will do this, unless it is company policy. A lot of stores will do this usually this time of year, when starting to hire for the holiday season....only because they need a lot of people at one time.

The last group interview I had was at Bath and Body Works. The manager read questions from a form and asked us all the same question.
Im pretty used to what kind of answers they want, so I give the "standard" answers.

All you can do is smile during the whole thing and give answers you think a big corporation would want to hear.

Basically, just keep in mind, they want to know you will be there everyday, all day, work any hours, and be available on holidays.

        Hope that helps.

Job Interview Questions: What are the do's and don'ts of a job interview?

Tomorrow I have my first job interview.May I have some pointers? I know I obviously have to dress nice.

Job Interview Preparation - How to Create That Powerful First Impression

      Recommended Answer:
not only should you be dressing nice, you should be dressing modestly as well. so (unless your wearing pants), your skirt should be knee length, and your top needs to cover your boobs appropriately.

arrive no more than fifteen minutes early. do NOT arrive late, or right on the dot. always be 15 minutes early, but no earlier or it starts looking like you dont respect the interviewers time

shake hands firmly. dont sit down until you have been asked to sit down, or until the person interviewing you sits down.

do not say like, unless it is a valid part of the sentence. so dont be all valley girl, and say stuff like "and he was like, and i was like". thats just bad. dont say um either, so now "um...well this one time".

keep your answers short, but make sure you answer the question completely.

admit to your weaknesses, but then state how you are trying to work on or fix them. for example, if you procrastinate, own up to it. say "i procrastinate, but i am working on keeping lists and planners of tasks that need to be completed in order to help get them done on time" or whatever fits your situation

"i work too hard"... DO NOT USE THAT PHRASE! seriously, it is the oldest line in the book.

do a little bit of research. they WILL ask you why you want the job. dont say because you want money, spin it a little so you say something like "i see it as a good chance to learn a new skill, and im always willing to learn"

A Guide to the Most Evil Job Interview Questions

      • Be on your best behavior. Maintain eye contact and keep smiling. Keep your attention, and the conversation, on the topic: You want this job. Answer all the questions promptly and honestly.

It would be nice if you can crack a joke or two. That will help the interviewer remember you when he is deciding amongst the interviewees.

        Good luck!

      • answer questions honestly, don't offer anything other than what is asked for
