Job Interview Questions: Phone Job Interview, when is appropriate to call back?

I was referred for a job. Received an email stating they were hiring and he wanted to know what my career goals were. I called him the day after, he was busy at the time and stated he would call back that day - he didn't. How long should I go before calling him back again?

Recommended Answer:
Regarding professionalism of contacting someone for a career/position/job, I believe waiting a full business day (8-24 hours) is best practice.

However, in this particular situation, I would contact the individual as soon as possible, as this will show him that you are interested and eager to fulfill the position. As well, he may have forgotten, so calling him may be a better idea (instead of waiting for him to call you).

What to Do on a Job Interview to Land a Job

  • i would call him back today.. or like now because what are you suppose to do? he said he would call you back and didn't.. it would look better on your part to call back sooner than later to show your interest in the job

  • The following day. You have nothing to lose by calling him back once or twice.
