Job Interview Questions: Question about a job interview?

I went on a job interview for a part time job yesterday and they called my references today. I am a bit shy and timid and the lady doing the interview said that I appeared to be. However, my references told the lady that I am very dependable, reliable, and would be able to handle anything that she wanted me to do. Does it sound like I have a chance in getting this job? I am 18 and never had a job. However, I just finished high school and my job was my grades. I did finish with a 3.5 average!

Illegal Job Interview Questions and How to Handle Them

Recommended Answer:
It sounds as though you have a good chance to get the job. The references you were given were constructive and positive. The rest depends on you. You need to be outgoing and live up to what was said about you.

Please keep in mind, when someone gives you a reference, that is them giving their word. Do you best not to disappoint them.

What To Do And Not To Do In A Job Interview

  • wow ur gpa is good...and yea u have a chance because of the references, they gave u a good word...BUT if the lady said ur shy adn timid and stuff then that might be a problem...u have to be more self confident and professional wen u go for an interview...but call after a week n ask if u got the job or not..GOODLUCK and next time remember to be self confident and stuff...the interviewer is mostly looking at how u present urself, and ur attitude and stuff..its a first impression..again best of luck

  • Ahn... I don't know.
You never worked before, which is problem.
I think you have just to pray for it and trust yourself. If it don't win that, think that you can try once more.
    Good luck.

  • they dont know your average and im sure they dont care depending on the job . but at jobs interviews you cant show that you are shy so i doubt it unless theyre desperate

  • idk
    good luck

Job Interview Questions: What should i wear to my job interview at subway tomorrow?

Im 18, and a senior in highschool. Most my wardrobe consists of jeans and tshirts, some of my jeans are pretty nice, i have one pair of slacks, that are a little too short, and all my shoes are sneakers or uggs. helpp???

Job Interview Advice - Dos and Don'ts For Your Big Day

Recommended Answer:
ideally you shouldnt wear jeans and sneakers. but if you cant afford a new outfit just try to look as neat and clean as possible. dark jeans and shoes, light shirt. maybe you can even bring up the subject of your outfit during the interview, apologizing for not dressing a little more appropriately and that you would dress better if you had the clothing. i wouldnt worry about it too much; its a fast food place, not a bank

Job Interview

  • Just try looking your best don't over do your make up or hair. Honestly what is most important is how you answer whatever questions are asked and be honest they're job is to hire someone that would be a good employee for there business not a bad one that they like. And remember eye contact and when the interview is over have a good firm handshake and don't forget to thank them either. Good luck. :)

  • i would wear a nice dress and curl my hair, put a little make up on. they want to make sure you are pretty and fresh, want someone young, energetic, and talkative-good personality or outgoing

  • Certainly not jeans. You should never wear jeans to an interview. They will look down at you. Maybe some nice black pants, Black leather enclosed shoes and a nice button up shirt.
Sounds like you need to go shopping.
Sneakers or uggs will look really bad. :(

Job Interview Questions: Should i go to a Vector Job interview or is it a scam?

i got a random call from Vector-the company that sells knives and things- is it even worth going? I have done research and everything i come across says it is not worth is because i will end up paying more for the job than i would get paid. Should i cancel because i dont want to waste my time?

Job Interview Success: 6 Tips to Get You the Job You Want

Recommended Answer:
I went to one of their meeting couple of years ago. They will ask you for $500 deposit for the set of knives that you will take out to show your clients. Don't do it. It's just a scam. It doesn't even look good on a resume. My friend did it so that he can put a sales experience on his resume but it doesn't even count.

What You Need to Know About Job Interview Questions

  • I've heard the same thing. I've seen people say that they could make decent money selling the knives, but that going to the mandatory weekly meetings ate up time and gas money to the point where it was not worth participating.

I'm sure some people have a good experience with it, but it's not for everybody. I wouldn't go if you don't think you could be successful at selling the knives. And if you think you would be good, you'd definitely want to make them tell you up front about any mandatory meetings before you sign the dotted line.

  • its not a scam i went to the interview about 6 months ago. its legit. the only thing is that your selling knives and kitchen stuff. there's a catch. in the job posting they make it sound like a customer service job, which it kind of is, but your really just like a door to door salesmen ON YOUR OWN selling stuff...you know how hard that is? who will welcome you in to there house with a bag full of knives? you can sell to local restaurants and stuff but if you cant sell, your stuck without money. the good thing is if you don't make money they don't fire you and in there office they show postings of peoples profits on the board. some people make crazy money. they do have really good products, they demonstrate them all to you during the group interview, but this kind of job is only for hardcore door to door salesmen. it wasn't for me i got hired but when i found this out i called them back to say never mind...

  • My cousin did it. It's not worth it.

  • its a scam

Job Interview Questions: How would I dress "professionally" for a job interview at a clothing department store?

I don't understand if I'm suppose to dress business professionally or to dress nice. I don't really have any else besides a dress suit, so that might be a little much. By the way, the interview is for Kohls.

The Inevitable Job Interview Question: "Why Did You Leave (Are Planning To Leave) Your Last Position

Recommended Answer:
The rule of thumb is to always dress one step higher than the position you are applying for. Wear the suit, but don't actually wear the jacket, simply have it with you. Make sure your appearance is neat, tidy and would reflect well on the store for which you would be a representative.

Questions to Ask in the Job Interview - How to Nail Your Job Interview

  • A dress suit might be a bit too much. Try maybe the pants with the suit and a dress blouse in a bright fashionable color. Some ruffles might be nice too. Bring the jacket folded up nicely in a bag and leave it in a large purse or your car. If it's professional, you can always grab it.

Job Interview Questions: What kind of clothes should i wear for a job interview at a rock climbing gym?

i have an interview for a regular employee position at a rock climbing gym so what should i wear? i don't want to be too formal, or too lax, but its a climbing gym right? this is minimum wage job position any ideas?

What to Do Before, During and After a Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Like all job interviews - somewhat dressy. I wouldn't recommend a suit/tie or power suit, but a pair of slacks/skirt and a button up shirt/blouse would be good. Probably comfortable, practical shoes (not heels, etc.).
Do not wear what you would climbing...save that for the job (if that's the dress code for employees).

Job Interview Essentials

  • Obviously those who said be dressy never been to a climbing gym before or have realized how laid back it is. First off if you walk into a climbing gym wearing a suit blouse they`re probably going think you know nothing about climbing. It`ll lead them to believe that you`re too strict or dont know what climbing is about. I`d show up in a pair of decent jeans and a t shirt or nice shirt. Dont get your hair all done and dont wear tons of makeup. I`d also bring a gym bag along with clothes that you can climb in, this way you can change after the interview and climb in the gym. It`ll show that you really enjoy climbing and climb any chance you get.

After the interview ask the person interviewing you if there is a place you can change because you want to climb

  • I always make it a point to be somewhat dressy for any interview, regardless of the job type. You should just wear black or gray dress pants, a nice button down and dressy flats. It shows that youre not trying to over-do it, but that you are professional.

  • Wear what you'd like to work in if it could pass for new and smells fresh.
In my case that would be black synthetic body stocking leaving feet, hands
and neck upwards exposed. I prefer to climb wearing black boots, helmet
    and don't use chalk.

  • I would say jeans, a nice blouse, good shoes (not worn), and do your makeup well (I suggest doing it pretty nude). The jeans make it less formal, but you look like you care.

  • i would say NICE yoga style pants, a nice shirt/blouse, casual flats/nice shoes ( nice fancy workout gear)

  • climbing boots and a bowline.

Job Interview Questions: Is this okay to wear to a job interview at a clothing store?

I have an interview at Justice, a tween clothing story, and I was wondering if a strapless floral dress would be appropriate. It's black and comes down to the knees; I want to wear a cardigan and flats with it as well, and it doesn't show any cleavage.

Would this be suitable?

The 11 Cardinal Mistakes of Job Interviews

Recommended Answer:
I think so. As long as you look professional and your chest isn't hanging out it should be alright. The cardigan on top is a good measure, too. Good luck on your interview!

Job Interviews: Question to Not Ask

  • It's a bit professional but very stylish excpessialy for justice you'll fit in like if you wear a suit it is to professional and if it's like a mini skirt and a tank top then that's bad but what you are wearing is fine good luck on the job!!

  • Strapless???? NO. Even with a cardi. Flats are fine.

Job Interview Questions: How do you answer this job interview question?

WHY DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD HIRE YOU ?. I really need help im not good at job interviews.

Job Interview Mistakes!

Recommended Answer:
The purpose of that question is to get you to talk about how you could benefit the company and/or department that you would be working in. Before your interview, make sure that you know a thing or two about the company. Then, think about how your skills, education, and experience could benefit the company.

For example, if you are interviewing for an IT position, talk about your education, certifications (A+, MCSE, CCNA, etc.), and your specialties. If it is a customer service job, talk about any previous customer service experience you have, accomplishments, recognitions, etc.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow?

I have a problem...I have a job interview tomorrow and I am horrible at interviews! I always blank out and get really really nervous. I need help. Also I am wearing a long black skirt with a white button down tucked in and a pair of white heels. Does that sound ok? Can someone give me some tips on what to say or how to act?

Thank you!

5 Tips For a Successful Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Don't worry about your clothes - just try to stay business casual and wear what makes you feel good.

Other advice:

1) Practice your answers. If you blank out, practice, practice, practice. Know that job description and how you would be a perfect fit. Get at least 3 examples of your skill set - using figures is highly recommended (i.e. "I saved my current company $25K by implementing a new attendance policy").

2) Prepare at least 3 questions to ask. They can be general, but also keep your ears open to adjust the questions for the interviewer.

3) Bring copies of your cover letter, resume and a notepad/pen. Take notes - at the very least you'll be able to follow-up with the company.

4) Tell yourself why you are perfect for this job - and be clear. If you can tell yourself, you can tell an interviewer.

5) When you start to get nervous, focus on your skills. Pretend you aren't there for a job. Pretend you're there to just sell your skills. Sometimes that can take some pressure off if you don't have that added boulder hanging over your head.

6) Most important - don't over-analyze everything. You're going to go home after the interview and regret saying this or not saying that. Do yourself a favor and don't over think it. If you forgot to say something or need to clarify an answer, do so in a thank-you letter.

7) Remember that you can have the best interview and still not get the job. It all depends on who is applying and what the company is needing in an employee. I was unemployed last year and went on 24 interviews before landing my job. I gave 24 stellar interviews, and 23 of them just weren't looking for me.
