Job Interview Questions: Is this a good answer for my weaknesses in a job interview?

I'm a slow worker. Even though I am a slower learner, I gain momentum as I keep on doing a task. For example, if I'm helping my mom cut the vegetables, I start off slow but once i get a sense of how to cut the onions and tomatoes, I speed up. The key is obvious for me to practice.

What do you think? Thanks.

How to Answer Job Interview Questions - How to Impress Your Potential Employer

Recommended Answer:
Well, i would recommend that you provide another positive weakness. When they say weakness they want you to really turn it into a positive. I have always mentioned that my biggest weakness is my willingness and motivation to devote alot of my time to work and that I care too much. Get the idea... just create something that is a positive weakness :)

What to Do Before, During and After a Job Interview

  • No, thats not a good answer!
Why do you think you are a slow worker? Analyse that first and work towards your weakness. If actually you are slow, even if you bag yourself a job, you will not grow internally.
If you have any inherited problems i.e. physical etc, stick to your present job and practise that untill your stop being slow in that.
    All the best.

  • I think that if you tell an employer that you are a slow worker and a slow learner that you'll never get a job. I think that's obvious.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview at Nordstrom tomorrow..?

I have a job interview at Nordstrom tomorrow and i was wondering what i should wear and what i should be prepared for i haven't had a job interview in like over a year and I'm not sure what to expect and wear.
thanks

Tips For Job Interviews - Common Job Interview Questions and Answers

Recommended Answer:
A general rule is dress one notch up from what you would expect to wear while performing the job you are applying for.

Telephone Job Interview Challenges - Preparation Is the Key!

  • wear a black suit and a collar button up shirt (make sure it is a solid and light color). depending of the position you are looking for (cashier or manager). Make sure you know your resume inside and out. Be ready to explain you previous position and accomplishments. you are going to want to relate them to retail too. Make sure you talk about strengths that retailers want to hear! Examples: customer service, ability to be persuasive (sell outfits and the store credit card), and if you are computer literate (register). if you were previously a manager, make sure you can speak about the companies success.

you should also know the type of customer nordstrom attracts and benefits they offer their customers.
P.S. Nordstrom is on one of forbes list. you should find out which one. i think its top company to work for!

  • a very tailored black suit, white shirt underneath, great necklace but nothing too flashy, simple earrings and black heels. you always want to keep it professional and classic for the first interview.

make sure you know your resume and some extra tidbits you can add into the conversation. its always good to have some questions to ask the interviewer at the end. make sure you have something to ask, even if you already know the answer!

Job Interview Questions: Job interview tomorrow for oncampus tutoring?

I'm interviewing for some on-campus tutoring tomorrow and was hoping for some pointers. I've never interviewed for any job before, but I feel like this might be a little different than interviewing for McDonald's or Wal-Mart (possibly not as formal?). Anyway, what should I be prepared for? What should I bring? I don't have a way to print out my resume, but they already have my application. Is that okay? Can I wear sneakers with khaki pants and a button down or should I wear dress shoes? What do ya'll think?

Job Interview Techniques - How to Crack the Interview Code

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview on Tuesday, how do I make it go well?

The job is at Good Will and it'll be the first job I've every had (if I get the job) and I really could use some tips on how to make it go well.

    Job Interview Preparation

    Recommended Answer:
disclaimer: I hate retards who use their gay "bots" to answer questions leading you to websites that have nothing to do with the question.

I really wish Yahoo would step up enforcement on this issue.

    Now, onto your question:

As a guy who conducts lots of interviews a lot of time, i can tell you a few things i look for.

Dress for the interview. Where will you be working? If you're applying at McDonalds, then a suit and tie is over kill and you won't make a good impression.

If you're applying to be Donald Trumps executive supervisor, then obviously you want the best money can buy (you can apply that to wherever your job falls in between)

but basically DO NOT OVER DRESS. Nobody likes a brown noser :)

What kind of job is it?

Engineering? Retail Management? Human Resources? Etc

Figure that out, then think of some questions you might ask someone if they were being interviewed by you.

    Example: Retail Management

Q.) Do you believe that the customer is always right?Questions like this do NOT have a right or wrong answer. As someone who has done this for a long time, i construct questions like this to gauge your reaction.

Think about how you'd answer the most difficult questions, and have those answers ready.

Chances are, those questions won't come up - but if a difficult one does come up - at least you were thinking about it, or something similar to it, and have some sort of synapse ready to fire away.

Also - anticipating a difficult question will help you breathe easier every time you get an easy question...making you appear to be much more relaxed and at home than you probably are ;)Sit posturing. Slouching is a good sign that you're not taking things seriously.

Show up early - not too early. Too early may give off the impression that you're trying to play kiss-butt again - and if the interviewer is slammed with other things, they'll feel more obligated to get to you faster since you're waiting, which will possibly create in them a subconscious dislike for you.

It's okay to lie a little bit, but tell the truth on "gotcha" questions.

    Example:

"Have you ever had to ask forgiveness for something you did wrong"
I get this answer ALL OF THE TIME on this question:

"I always give my very best to do the right thing, therefore, i have never had to ask forgiveness"

This is a gotcha question. Not only is that answer dishonest, but it's not very well thought out, and it's a BS answer. I would not hire whoever answered it.In the end though - if you're a natural for the job, it'll go smoothly. Hopefully (and more often that not, this is the case) you'll have an experienced person conducting the interview and they'll know what things to look for in you that you may not notice about yourself, which will tell them if you're a good fit for the job.My last bit of advice - don't go into the interview thinking you can BS your way into a job by lying and stretching the truth the whole time.Lots of people, like myself, throw in those "gotcha" questions everywhere, and if you fail just one of them - you're toast.

The 60 Second Resume Job Interview Strategy!

      Recommended Answer:
Alright, no matter what type of job it is you should always dress up. Wear flats or short heels closed toe. Dress pants are a must :) Collar shirt, or a nice dress shirt with a suit jacket over it...

      What NOT to wear:
shorts, skirts, jeans, high heels, open toed shoes, tank tops, big jewelry, tons of make up..

How to stay calm.. take deep breaths, don't chew gum, don't bring too many things with you (nothing to play with), also take a couple seconds to think out your answer before answering and be honest. Good luck :)

      • Sounds like you have a good idea for what to wear. Just pretend that you are talking to a friend who you respect. Try and relax by saying to yourself that you can do this.

Job Interview Questions: Is it appropriate to where dramatic makeup for a job interview at a makeup counter?

The makeup line is known for it's dramatic looks and colors. The person I dropped my resume off with said she loved my makeup. But would it be OK for the interview? Or should I stay conservative?

Job Interviews - What Am I Doing Wrong?

      Recommended Answer:
It depends on the counter. If it was for something like MAC or Illamasqua, then sure, go for drama. If you're going for something like Clinique, do something clean and refined looking. Just research the company and if you can try to use a couple of their products just in case they ask. Good luck!

Tips to a Job Interview Presentation to Impress Your Hiring Manager

      • well they aren't hiring you just because you wear their makeup. be simple and natural, clean and professional. you want the job, not to bribe them into hiring you because you wear their makeup. if you get the job, that is the time to wear the dramatic makeup, not during the interview. no, it is NOT ok.

      • If you can go halfway (some bright but toned down and very skillfully applied), that may be better for the following reasons:

        - if it isn't the person that took your resume that will interview you, their tastes may be different

        - it is still an interview and you may meet other people administrative people so staying on a slightly conservative edge will please everyone

        Good luck with the interview.

      • Well, since it's for a makeup counter job, and the brand likes dramatic looks, i say go for it. If it were in an office, then definitely no! But it's a job for a dramatic makeup brand, so, once again, yes, you should.

      • i would play it safe and tone it down a few notches but still show you can do more than apply-you can apply certain looks and techniques while still being professional. that will really impress them if they know what theyre doing.

      • If it's a brand like Sephora or MAC then yes!
Every chick that works there has ot on tons of make-up because it's a MAKE-UP store.
The better your make-up is, the more impressed they'll be!
        (:

      • Well you're applying for working at a make up counter...so I say yes, it's okay. Maybe they'll be impressed by your makeup skills!

      • i think you should wear a daytime smokey eye or something more natural, and then maybe during your interview ask if it is appropriate to "go all out" with your eye makeup

      • Something unique is good :)
        dont go too crazy

      • Go medium. Not so natural bit make a statement without SCREAMING! You know?

Job Interview Questions: Should I mention my new job at an open house/job interview?

I'm attending an open house interview with a retail store tomorrow. I just started a new job last week and I wouldn't mind having another job. When I go to this open house, or any job interview, do I mention I have a job? If so, How to convince them that I can work both jobs or that I will leave my old job if they (new job) pay is without making it look bad (that I will leave a job for another job if they offer more)? Or does it really matter?

5 Helpful Rules to Successful Job Interviewing

      Recommended Answer:
It might matter to them or it might not. I would say they might take someone who does not have any job at all before someone who does. So if you want another job, unless they ask you personally, I wouldn't tell them. You might be able to convince them you can do both, and hopefully the other job will offer more $ money!

Job Interview Questions: What is the best response to this job interview question?

Looking for work now after being with employer that I love after 7 years. Only looking because we lost major contract about a year ago and every since then I have been cut to 20 hours per week. We cannot continue on with this reduced income. So when in job interview and they ask "why are you looking for a new job?" What is the best way to answer that question? I am afraid that it would not sound favorable if I revealed that my current company may have contract problems. Looking for jobs in the same field.

        Recommended Answer:
You don't need to give details... Just state the general truth. Tell them that your current position has reduced hours and you're looking for full-time employment. The new employer doesn't need to know all the details about your current company...

        Good luck.
