Yeah, you can't overdress for the first interview. There are lots of job searching sites that can help you with that kind of thing if you are not sure, though. This is what I've been told from job placement agencies and suit shops. Wearing dress pants shows that you are prepared and professional. It would be a bigger mistake to under dress than to over dress.

The Top 5 Tips to Mastering a Job Interview

  • Sounds nice, not overdressed at all.

I recently read a tip that made a lot of sense: If unsure what to wear to an interview, show up at closing time and observe how people are dressed as they walk to their vehicles.

In this case, I imagine most entry-level clerks, etc., are dressed very casually. However, it's an interview, so you want to look extra nice--as if you took time with your grooming and appearance. From a psychological standpoint, it always helps if the interviewer can "relate" to you. I imagine your interviewer will be dressed "business casual" as well. Good luck!

  • in most cases it's best to dress in a way close to what you would if working there
and a shirt should always be tucked in

  • Always tuck in shirt, dress pants should be ok. Good luck for your interview.

  • Looking nice can never hurt :)
but it's prolly not required it will just make you stand out.

  • I'd say a nice shirt, khakis and a belt
