Job Interview Questions: Job interview tomorrow at KOHLS?

I have my first job interview ever at KOHLS tomorrow and I'm nervous. I have an idea of what questions they'll ask. But after googling a bit, most of the interviews seem to be group interviews? When they called me there wasn't a mention of a job interview. Just that they looked at my application and were calling applicants, then asked me to come down.

Will it most likely be a group interview?

Job Interviews Should Be As Easy As Trying on a Pair of Shoes

  • no i have not seen a group interview ever but the questions you should be prepared for is
what are your strengths and weaknesses?
why do you want to work for this company?
what do like to do in your spare time?
what would do do if ___ happens?
and other sometimes personal question. my interview a kmart the woman asked me what kind of MUSIC i like and other crazy stuff. to me it was way too personal but just answer them honestly but white lie some of it.
like when asked what are my weaknesses i said it was waking up early, then i said i didn't have a motivation to do so but being part of your company will give me tons of motivation. i might even come at 4 in the morning to do some work. state something then off set it by using the company in a good way the joke about it sometimes you can leave the joke out feel their personality first before you joke. oh yeah and make up a fake weakness you don't want to say i lie alot or i have bad gas like that's a no no. if you get asked what do you like to di in your spare time state something like volunteer work but know about some local spots like the city mission say you helped serve dinner there a couple times or something. be cool and don't chew gum or have anything in your mouth.

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview at Blockbuster. Advice?

I recently got a job interview at Blockbuster this week and I really want and need this part time job to help pay for school. So I was wondering, what exactly is Blockbuster looking for in a potential employee because I want to win them over. Any advice or tips?

If a past/current blockbuster employee could reply that would be great.
Thanks :)

& FYI this isn't my first job.

Lethal Job Interview Mistakes

Recommended Answer:
I know you want answers from someone who's worked a Blockbuster, but I want to give you a few general tips.

Dress slightly nicer than Blockbuster's dress policy.

Always look the interviewer and other employees in the eye and be pleasant.

Offer to shake hands with the interviewer as soon as you meet them.

Make sure you tell them why you want to work at Blockbuster and that reason needs to benefit them in some way. It should not be all about you.

Tell them why you are the best candidate for the job. Hopefully it is because you are reliable, punctual, hard working, passionate about movies, dedicated to good customer service and to the success of the business.

Just remember that since they are looking for an employee, they obviously have a problem. You need to be the one who can solve that problem.

Good luck.

Job Interview Questions: I missed a job interview is that bad?

I thought it was on Monday but it turned out to be on the saturday before monday. Will I never get a job at that place again? Can I apply to the same job at a different branch? Or does my info go to every branch so that I can't get a job at any of them?

    Recommended Answer:
Apologize right away, being as honest as possible without giving a bunch of excuses. Unfortunately in this job market, they may have so many applicants this might have completely knocked you out of the running. Depending on the company, information may or may not go out to all branches. If you applied through a corporate office it most likely would. If you applied with just the branch manager, you may be safe.

The Easy Way to Answer Job Interview Questions

      Recommended Answer:
That might be over dressing just a bit. I don't know that you need the tie, but you certainly need to look good. That would include a nice pair of slacks and a nice long sleeved shirt. You should have a fairly fresh haircut. Don't wear piercings, and if you have tattooss, they should not be visible. Be courteous, pay close attention to your interviewer, don't talk too much, but be sure you give thought to and answer the questions fully.

Whew! Now, good luck to you!

Job Interview Questions: What are the "rules" in rescheduling a job interview?

My city got 20 + inches of snow today (Wed) and today and tomorrow the city is pretty much shut down.. My interview is on Friday and i'm afraid I wont be able to make it because of the amount of snow removal we have to do. Any thoughts on rescheduling interviews?

Discriminatory Job Interview Questions to Avoid

      Recommended Answer:
Do you live in the North or the South? If you live in the North, that snow will be gone by Friday. If you live in the South, leave your house an early, drive 10 below the speed limit, and be a cautious driver. Unless everybody's power out, there's no reason to miss an interview because of weather. It's a test of how you would do on the job anyway. If something's hard, would you just do it later? Your future employer hopes not.

10 Job Interview Tips That Will Help You Make a Good Impression

      • You should call tomorrow and let them know your status. Ask about the possibility of rescheduling if it becomes a problem. There should be no problem if it is a reasonable company.

      • Get up early and hike in your suit and dress shoes. Messy but worth it.Think of it this way-after you get the job you'll be able to afford a new pair of dogs to put up on your brand new davenport!!

      • They live in the same city you do. If they can get to work, you can get to the interview.

Job Interview Questions: What are some good job interview tips?

I'm going to my first job interview on Wednesday. If I'm hired, I will be a clerk at a correctional facility. My biggest question is what do I wear for this type of interview? Does anyone know what kind of questions they might ask me at this type of interview? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :)

Job Interviews - Preparing and Getting Yourself Ready

      Recommended Answer:
I think the rule of thumb on dressing is to aim for 1 level dressier than the people interviewing you. If they typically wear jeans, you wear casual-wear. If they wear dress casual then you wear suit. If you don't know what they wear, you can't go too wrong with a suit. Don't wear anything "hot" or revealing - that may be a plus at the bar but it's not in the workplace. You want to look neat, clean, pressed and professional.

They will probably ask you why you're interested in this job, what kinds of things you're good at, what kinds of things you're bad at (i.e. your strengths and weaknesses). They'll ask about relevant skills and any previous work experience. And they'll probably ask some questions designed to see if they think you'll get along with other people there. They may ask you to describe previous experiences when you handled a particular kind of situation so they can understand how you behave in that situation. Eg. when you had a disagreement with someone, when you were faced with too much work, when someone tried to get you to do something you shouldnt, etc. Above all they're looking to see if you have the skills & temperament to do their job well and be a team player.

Be positive and straightforward and don't say negative things about other people, even those you dislike or disagree with. Emphasize how quickly you can learn new things and how interested in the job you are. Don't be afraid -- they hope you're "the one" just as much as you do.

      Good luck!

      Job Interview Success

      • don't smile too much, it looks phony

        don't dress like a slob

Do Not lie! if you get caught you're done for!

        Be Confident.

        don't be high maintenance

      • Dress conservatively. Make sure your hair is in a business fashion look and not messy. Try and not look too nervous. Watch your body language IE: the way you sit, shake hands, your posture etc. do some research into this facility so you can answer whatever questions thrown at you intelligently and you can ask certain question as well if they ask.
They may ask you 1) why do you think you are the best person to fill this vacancy.
        2) What do you know about this facility. etc.

Do not ask about your salary until they tell you..

        Good luck!

      • Here's a great tip that took me awhile to learn!
At the end of almost every interview, they'll ask if you have any questions. ALWAYS have some prepared! It makes you look like you've done your homework and are very interested in the position.
Some good ones are: (if not discussed earlier)
        What are the benefits like?
        What is the salary?
Where did the person who had this job before go? (Did they quit? Move up the ladder? Is it an entirely new position?)
Who would I be reporting to? (Tons of people, or just one?)
What would be the initial challenges of the newly hired person?
What brought you [the interviewer] to this company?

Above all, be calm. You'll be just fine. Good luck!

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I've always thought wearing slacks was appropriate for a job interview, but now I'm questioning whether or not I should. The job I am interviewing for is a server at a steak house that is so laid back the servers are wearing jeans and there are peanuts on the floor. I think I may feel funny walking in with nice dress pants. Is it appropriate to go to the interview in nice jeans with heals and a nice shirt or should I go with the standard dress pants and blouse?

      Recommended Answer:
wear something nice and elegant. a good pair of jeans with a blousy shirt and the shoes should not be very high. wear neutral- colored make up.for the interview part, know something about the company and its background . Try knowing the job description of the position you are aiming at so that you will have an idea about the job post--- in case they will ask you questions about it. Job Interview Skills: What Does The Employer Want To Hear?

      • wear a blouse with jeans and nice heals and tie back your hair. oh and try dark wash jeans becasue they can be formal or casual.

      • I think dress slacks and a nice top would look nice. Even some super nice (classic dark wash) jeans and a nice top would look good. Go for something that would look professional.

      • this sounds like Texas Steakhouse!

I've always gone by this foolproof rule:

For interviews, dress for the job you are applying for. Observe the people in the position you want, and wear what they do!

So in this occasion, I think jeans heels and a nice shirt are appropriate.

Remember to keep a smile on your face, and seem open and friendly and outgoing.

An ourtgoing personality is the biggest thing employers look for in their servers!

        good luck :)

      • wear what the employees wear. make sure your hair looks good pulled back. make sure your nails look clean.

this is a "people person" position. make sure you tell them you enjoy working with all kinds of different people and that you enjoy talking. be prepared to answer the question "how would you handle an angry customer".

      • well something kinda fancy but not to fancy you dont want them to think your a snob
nice jeans a cool colered blouse with hair straighnted and hoops with a pair of elagant, funky shoes

      • People generally advise you to dress up at least two levels higher than the current job for which you are appearing. It will create a good first impression. Never wear blue jeans while attending a job interview. Casual job interview attire is not advisable if you are serious in getting the job. Opt for conservative shades and designs. Bright checked shirts, loud colored blouses, and odd designed dresses are not to be worn at all.
You have to ensure that the set of dress you have decided to wear for your interview is sparklingly fresh and without any crease marks whatsoever. Also ensure that the shirt is buttoned up fully when attending the interview.
