Job Interview Questions: Is it ok to wear open toed shoes to a job interview?

The only outfit that I have that I feel is suitable is brown in color. But I only have brown boots and brown open toed dress shoes. The boots don't go with the outfit... I don't know what to do. I have black shoes, but the black outfit is not as professional looking as the brown.

  • YES you can wear open toed shoes, unless they are flip flops...I wore open toe flats to mine...and I still felt dressy.
The brown is good for fall, maybe put a gold or orange scarf of any kind with it...would color it up a bit...good luck!

ps:you can wear black shoes with a brown pants if you have either a white,or cream color blouse,,the fashion world is great these days!

Job Interview Questions: What is the worst job interview experience you've ever had?

I've noticed a lot of employers really aren't very good at interviewing. It's a little disheartening.

Job Interviews: Effective Question And Answer Strategies

Recommended Answer:
Yeah I realized. The employers at the supermarkets near me are terrible. Even if they have a "help wanted" sign up, it's nealy impossible to get called in.

Sample Answers to the 10 Leading Job Interview Questions

  • an interview for a commission based job, where they basically are wasting your time because none of it is hourly based pay.

also, it's not so much that no one is hiring as it is that with patience, the right job will open up. you can try temporary services, etc. maybe you are in a dry point for about 4-17 months on reliable work. however, eventually, something will open up. even though investing in education is a major move of importance, it is important to note that with patience, something will work out for you.

  • I had one in a doctors office. The doctor talked about himself for a good 20 minutes, he would ask me a question and interrupt me before I even answered. So basically I answered no questions and he knew nothing about me lol. He was saying we'll have you work here for 4 weeks then I'll let my wife decide if she wants to keep you or not. The entire time the office manager was staring me up and down giving me the dirtiest looks. As I was leaving the office manager goes you were our first interview we have way more to do over the next few days so we'll call you back in about a week. A few hours later the phone rang and they were offering me the job lol. So much for all their other interviews. I turned down the job, not leaving a job I have now for one where I maybe let go in a month if his wife didn't like me.

  • I had one that kept staring at my chest. And I was wearing a suit and top under it that wasn't showing any cleavage. When he asked me where I thought I'd be in the company in five years I said "I wouldn't be. I'd have since retired with a hefty settlement after suing you for harassment." Then I snatched my resumé out of his hand and walked out of the interview.

As for being the interviewer I had one applicant ask me if it'd be OK if he carried a gun on the job (for a computer networking position LOL!) because "You can never be too safe." I wasn't sure he was packing heat at the moment so I just smiled and said "That's something you can discuss with the owner if you call you back for a second interview." which of course, we didn't.

Another person I interviewed had a resumé that said he'd worked six months ago at the company he was applying to. That he'd been there for two years. And even better - he'd been working my position while I was there LOL!!!!

I also received a fax from an employee we were about to replace. She was such a bad secretary she didn't even recognize her own company's fax number!

So it works both ways. There's lots of bad interviewers but there's probably even more bad applicants.

  • Well i only had one job since highschool, just got laid off a few months ago. One of my interviews since then was going great, and i was asked if i wanted to work days or nights. I said either would be fine as long as I'm not required to work sunday nights, because thats when i play hockey.
The interviewer then said "do you know so and so"
before I could think I replied with "The only people i know with that last name are dave and eric"
"Oh really they're my cousins, I'll have to do a quick little background check, ha ha"
****, i thought to myself, there goes that job. It turns out from kindergarten all the way to high school one his cousins used to start **** with me, and it would usually end with him getting his *** kicked. Do you think i got the job? ha ha.

Job Interview Questions: What to wear to a outdoor job interview?

tomorrow i am going to an outdoor job interview for a canopy tour company, i am trying for a position as a tour guide, which gives hikes through the area and zip lines, i was told to wear outdoor adventure attire, and to dress warmly. what does that mean?? like jeans and a tee shirt or what? i was also told that the area is really muddy right now because of the rain. what would you wear?

5 Tips For a Successful Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
If someone invited you to go on a hike and told you it would be chilly and muddy, what would you wear?

    That's what you should wear!

Water proof hiking boots; jeans with maybe thermals underneath (depending on how chilly); a Tshirt + long sleeved shirt + Jacket (layers). Preferably somekind of foldup rain suit in your pocket (shows them you're prepared); and probably a hat for warmth if needed. And probably sturdy gloves for the zip line work.

If you show up dressed completely inappropriately for the weather it'll be obvious you don't know what your doing and after freezing all day with mud up to your butt you won't get the job.

Job Interview Advice - Impress the Interviewer and Get the Job

    • Good boots and a warm type shirt flannel outdoors look think hunting or skying ?
A jacket good for cold and rain camouflaged type may be good.
      Or bright orange.

    • Hiking boots, kaki pants and shirt and a pith helmet. I don't know, just sounds like the stereotypical outdoor tour guide to me :)

Job Interview Questions: How to you improve your confidence for a job interview?

I've a degree in Biochemistry...but I've no work experience & my confidence is just so low right now i can't face a job interview. It feels like I'm all out of self belief to sell myself in an interview.
    Any advice welcome!

A Job-Hunter's Guide to Handling Any Job Interview Question and to Answer Naturally & Professionally

    Recommended Answer:
Are you still in college? If so, go to your career center and see if they have a mock interview. If not, try looking into a mirror and try to sell yourself to yourself. The only way to do well in an interview is to practice..practice..practice. Worst comes to worst..you may not be able to pull of the first job but you will at least have that experience to improve on. Also, is your GPA pretty good? I hate that they take that into account because mine is absolutely horrible but that could be a way out. Point is you want that job so you need to just be truthful to yourself and the recruiter. Two main baselines to consider: why do you want the position you are interviewing for and how can you help that organization, company..etc.

    Types of Job Interview Questions

    • I'll tell you the secrets to getting the dream jobs. Start interviewing for everything now. It's your new part-time unpaid job. Or think of it as a supplemental class with very minimal tuition.

Interview for jobs you aren't qualified for. Interview for jobs you have no chance of getting. Interview for everything. Why? Because you need to learn to be completely at ease. A job interview is where a company is looking to buy talent. If you're nervous, you probably have something to hide. They'll pass. If you go to a hundred interviews, you're going to learn how to do them, and you'll probably end up with offers to some of those jobs you're totally unqualified for.

Interviewing is a learned skill. The only way to learn it is by doing it. Forget the mock interviews. Go do real ones. Soon, you'll be completely at ease and not at all nervous, because you'll know exactly what's going on, and have total confidence.

      Good luck.

    • You cant increase the confidence immediately because "Rome was not built in a day". REmember one thing. You are diffident now. Are you thinking that you can pass the interview? No. Many persons fail in interview because they pose.
      1)So dont pose in interview.
2)Think that the interviewers are your friend in past
      3)Dont make artificial smile.
      4) while you are approaching them in place of them you should see your best friend and smile to them like how you are meeting your friend after a long delay. You also pretend that you are happy to meet them.
Then they will be more friendly to you.

    • Hello friend. Its very natural to feel nervous, so forgive yourself this basic human folly.
Now...how much confident you FEEL, is not important, how much you are able to SHOW is.
Secondly, go with the assumption that you are not going to get the job....that will take away all FEAR from your mind.
      Start with a pleasant smile.
      Keep your back straight.
Don't fiddle with your hands, keep them straight, palms down on your news. Be alert and attentive to questions.
Lastly, if that will help, pretend to be someone else, a cousin/sibling/parent/friend who is witty and confident.
      ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • When you go to an interview not only are you trying to sell yourself to the company but they are also trying to sell themselves to you. WTG on the degree! You can do it.
