I have a job interview at the end of the month and its at the same place i work but a different department, i applied fore i found out i was pregnant, do i tell them at the interview? As they will need to sort out my maternity leave wont they if i get it! I really want this job!!!

Job Interview Skills: How to Manage a Bad Interview!

Recommended Answer:
DO NOT TELL THEM!!!!! unless you are already showing =P ... once you GET the job THEN you can tell them!!

i just had a job interview w. blockbuster! (i was recently layoff from a great job =-( ) and the manager was all set to put me on the schud. and it went brilliantly .. really im over qualified for the job but need SOMETHING so was willing to take a min. wage crap job =P .. told him i will be needing some time off in the summer b.c we are pregnant THEN he says ok well im sure we will be able to work it out but like i said i still have some more interviews to go ill give you a call in a day or 2 ... no call back! i even left a few messages in case he put the number down wrong or something and still nothing ..

so my advice never ever tell them until after you get the job unless you are so far along that you cant hide it

.. best of luck on the interview and congrats on your happy news!!

Countdown to Job Interview? Know What to Expect and Launch Your New Career

  • you are under no obligation by law to inform your employer that you are pregnant till you are ready to do so and no employer can fire you for becoming pregnant. unless the question comes up which it shouldn't you can go through the interview and see if you get the job without the added information. after you get the job.. if you get the job you can tell them that you are pregnant and that your going to need maturity leave when the time comes... and if they do ask you if you are pregnant in the interview you can simply tell them that you wish to not answer that question at that time for it have no impact on your abilities for the job for which you are applying...

  • It depend on how far along you are.....if you are still early in your pregnancy DO NOT tell them!!!! Chances are they wont give you the job.....no matter how harsh that is, it happens to many many many women everyday!!! If your to the point in your pregnancy where your really showing and it only a matter of months before you would be going on Maternity leave, you have no choice but to tell them....and see what they decide they want to do.....but usually it's not the best idea to tell a future employer on an interview that your pregnant ;( Good luck I wish you all the best ;)

  • I would be honest and let them know, that way they will be understanding about you having doctors appointments and such. They can't keep you from having the job because you're pregnant, unless it recquires manual labor that is not acceptable for a pregnant woman to be doing.

  • They can't discriminate if you are pregnant so there is no reason to let them know.

  • Being 8 weeks I wouldn't say anything

Job Interview Questions: What kinds of Questions do they ask you for a Job Interview?

I'm applying for Bertucci's restraunt, what kinds of questions do they ask you? I've never had a job before, I am 16. Thank you!

Job Interview Tips That Deliver

Recommended Answer:
This is the best advice you will get, be prepared. Prepare and rehearse answers to the following general interview questions (I've included sample answers and tips). Write out your answers and then rehearse aloud so that you feel comfortable with the wording.

Q.) Are you familiar with our company? What do you know about the company?
A.) After researching your company on-line, I found that …..
Tip: This shows initiative, ambition.

Q.) What are your strengths?
A.) I excel in accuracy of data input in my computer classes…
Tip: Include the grades you received in your classes to strengthen your answers.

Q.) What are your weaknesses?
A.) My lack of experience but I'm a quick learner willing to attend any classes or training that may be required or suggested.
Tip: Make it a good weakness. One that you can enhance by adding a willingness or ability to improve.

Q.) Tell me about a difficult situation you've encountered and how you handled the situation.
A.) Recall an experience you've had and explain your reaction. Maybe about a difficult classmate or teacher. Or babysitting emergency.
Tip: Again, try to be upbeat and positive in your answer.

Q.) What is your idea of an ideal co-worker?
A.) Someone who is pleasant, helpful and positive.
Tip: Many times your answer to this question will describe your own personality.

Q.) How would you handle working with someone you didn't like?
A.) Generally I try to accept people as they are and find the good so there really aren't too many people I genuinely don't like, but I guess I would concentrate on doing my job and just avoid spending any more time than necessary with this person.
Tip: Conflict between employees can be very costly as it may sometimes require much of a supervisors time. This question is looking for someone who can manage with little supervision.

1. Greet your interviewer with a handshake and a smile. Remember to make good eye contact when you speak. Make a conscious effort to remember your interviewers name and use it when speaking. “Thank you Mr. Jones, for taking the time to speak with me.”

2. Speak clearly. Do not have gum or breath mints in your mouth during the interview. Don't mumble or speak too softly. Answer yes and no questions with a yes or no, not with yah or na.

3. Let your personality show when you are interviewing. Be courteous and friendly. The interviewer wants to see who you are as well as what you have to offer. When I interview a prospective employee, not only am I looking for the person best qualified for the job requirements but I am also looking for a good “fit” for the group environment.

4. When the interview is over, smile, shake hands and thank the interviewer by name, “Thank you for your time, Sarah”. Follow up with a thank you note at your earliest opportunity.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your interview.

Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview tomorrow. How do i pass it succesfully?

It's a customer service job. In the past i've had interviews but failed miserably :(

Eliminate Job Interview Anxiety

Recommended Answer:
Be what they want you to be...

Remember, the secret to success is sincerity... once you can fake that you have it made.

Job Interview Tips You Can Use to Ace the Interview and Land the Job

  • Be cheerful and positive. No one likes a gloomy and solemn customer service representative. Unless you're working for a mortuary, I suppose. Try not to dwell on negative past experiences. Focus on your strengths as much as possible, and really let them know why you want to work in customer service. Mentioning that you are all about helping the customers is key. Mention it more than once, in different ways. When they know you are focused on helping customers, they will want to hire you. If you're just in it 'because it's a job and I need the money', you're not in it for the right reasons.

  • First thing you want to do is to chill out. If you get too anxious you won't be able to think straight and answers any questions.

Interviewers are usually looking for 3 things. They want to find people who are passionate, positive, and normal. So if you just go into the interview with a smile and act like your normal self you'll do just fine!

If you're looking for more help check out...

  • Just try not to be yourself, lol.

Edit: Seriously, be confident and smile lots if it's for customer service.

Edit: You don't have much of a sense of humor for someone with the name "LOL". Maybe you need to lighten up for the interview. I'm referring to the thumbs down you gave me.

  • stay positive and be confident during the interview.

  • Answer every question with an Indian accent

Job Interview Questions: Teenage Job Interview Attire?

Hey, I was wondering what I should wear to a job interview. It's just for a part time job at a grocery store, so I thought dressing completely formal might make me look really out of place (the people who work there usually wear slacks and a collared shirt), but at the same time, I don't want to look too casual. I was going to wear a pair of somewhat dark (not baggy, clean, no styled holes, etc.) blue jeans, and a long sleeved, black, collared shirt. Do you think the jeans are too casual? Blehhhh. xO

The Proper Instruments For Passing the Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Well, jeans are usually a no no. Stick with the shirt and go with some slacks.
But, you're right about not being totally formal. No tie or blazer or anything. Make sure you are clean and well groomed and everything. But do not load up in cologne or any other smelly stuff.

Good luck kid! :)

Job Interview Advice - How to Properly Prepare for a Job Interview and Get Hired

  • i actually disagree with everyone else. i think dark blue jeans and a collared shirt would be perfect. i'm not sure about black though... the reason i disagree is that at a grocery store they want you to look like you can look well groomed but still get your hands dirty. if you look like you are going to the prom they will think your mother got you this job and you lack experience. its always good to dress up one level from what you will be wearing at work. khaki is always fine though no matter what the occassion. so maybe try to match the pants that are typical with your new workplace and wear a nicer shirt. that way you will look like you could jump in and start working immediately and you still look professional like they are lucky to have you

  • Ok if you wear jeans they will definitely not hire you. That is not prefessional. Wear exactly what the employees are wearing. A polo shirt and black pants.

  • You pretty much answered your question when you said that "the people who work there usually wear slacks and a collared shirt."

Jeans are usually a no-no for job interviews, and you definitely don't want to dress more casual than the people who work there.

Wear the collared shirt, but pair it with slacks instead.

Job Interview Questions: What are some good job interview tips for shy people?

I'm 17 years old. I'm thinking about getting a job this summer, but I'm nervous about the job interviews. This will be my first job/job interview, so I'm not completely sure what to expect. I'm REALLY shy to the point where I sometimes can't even respond back to questions, but I don't want this to hold me back. Does anyone know of any examples of good things to say during a job interview? Or maybe any suggestions to help me know what kind of questions that could be asked. Thanks in advance!

Sneaky Interview Tips - How to Annihilate Anxiety Before Your Next Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Shyness is expected, but it'll also prevent you from really shining and showing what kind of person you are. Being to assertive is equally harmful, so you need to find a fine line to walk in there.

First off don't dread the interview because you'll just feel sick throughout the event and then probably do poorly. My best advice is to do a mock interview with your parents or friends or yourself if need be. Questions they often ask is,

"Please describe yourself" (And this does not mean your personal interests... they want to know what you can bring to the job, so talk about your skills etc...)

"Whats your experience?"

Some HR people will sometimes play a scenario with you and ask for your thoughts. I remember once when I applied to Bestbuy a long long time ago lol they asked..

"If you saw an employee steal a coke that belonged to another employee, what would you do"
lol you think it's funny but it can answer a lot about the person. You need to answer things like that as if your a diplomat and you'll figure stuff out on your own in the room while being interviewed.

As for your shyness, may I suggest somethings to you as I'm actually a high school history teacher and that's to volunteer somewhere where it requires you to interact with people. I also suggest a library where you can read to children or even a retirement home. Just be around someone with more wisdom and see how much you can interact with them.

Of course being interviewed if much different but I think things like that can help to unlock yourself from that cycle. Just remember that it's normal to be shy, but just don't let that hamper your goals.

Good luck.
