Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to my job interview?

I have a job interview tomorrow at the university I will be attending next fall. I will be a freshman and this will hopefully be my first job. I forgot to ask the lady what my job would be, so I don't know what exactly I should wear. Should I go professional? Or semi-casual? Like jeans with a nice blouse? Please help? I have it tomorrow and don't know what to wear!!!!

Job Interview Techniques to Land Your Dream Job

GCFLearnFree.org has free tutorials on how to prepare for interviews: www.gcflearnfree.org/interviewski… It includes instructional text, informational graphics, examples, and even interactives for you to practice what you've learned/actually apply what you've learned. It discusses what you should wear to an interview and what questions you can anticipate being asked.

It's best to wear professional clothes to an interview, even if the attire you would wear during employment is much more casual. Something fitting for an office environment, so dress slacks, dress shoes, a nice blouse, tasteful jewelry, clean, neat hair and general clean and tidy appearance

If you need additional help for things like writing a resume or job searching, there are tutorials for that as well: www.gcflearnfree.org/career

Hope it helps and Good Luck!

Job Interview Questions: How many references should you include on your reference sheet (job interview)?

Hi all. I have an interview for a computer networking job next Monday. I am curious, on a reference sheet how many references should be included? I've worked 3 other jobs (2 technical, 1 non technical) and I have references from both as well as college professor references. What is the best number to include on my reference sheet?

Job Interview Tips For Success

Recommended Answer:
If it is for a resume I always put "references upon request", you don't need them on your resume. But if it is asked on an application I always put three. I would only put job references because they can vouch for your actually work, as where college professors can only vouch for your "assignments". Hope this helps and good luck with the interview! I am a manger and have been on many job interviews, so this is what I look for and what I've found the interviewer was looking for as well.

Advice on Having a Successful Job Interview

  • references upon request is fine. Usually 3 references is the ideal

  • i think you must include the technical one
because you are going for a computer networking job.

Job Interview Questions: Help, important job interview in 45 mins. Can a mens facial hair chin strap and mustache be professional?

My husband has several important job interviews over the next few days, the jobs are double and triple his previous income. Is a chin strap with a mustache considered professional for a managerial position with a loan company?

Will You Be Ready For Your Next Job Interview?

Recommended Answer:
Definitely. It should help him look experienced. If it's a problem and the job is really that good, the company will let him know their policy on facial hair.

Any interviewer that is so shallow to pass on someone with a neat facial hair style (not a lazy bum type beard), is not worth working for.

  • there shouldn't be a problem with the moustache. but the chin strap is questionable. if these are professional positions it would probably be best the shave the half-beard. he could always regrow it after the interviews.

  • clean shaved and come online

Job Interview Questions: What to expect at a Job Interview?

i applied for a job at the Movie Theaters & i'm wondering what to expect for the Job Interview. Because this is going to be my first job i ever had, Student Summer Job. So what might they ask & try to find out?

How to Blow a Job Interview in Less Than Five Minutes

Recommended Answer:
i had an interview at the movies for my first job too lol. basically they asked the basic questions like why do you want to work here? what makes you a good choice for a place like this? stuff like that. but since it was a movie theater they want you to be talkative and friendly, they asked me things like are you good at communicating? are you a friendly person? do you work well in groups or by yourself? what are you strengths and weaknesses? they also asked me to tell them a joke and a theoretical question about a dog and the wind. as long as you seem happy and have a good sense of humor they'll think high of you... trust me...
And dont stutter!! practice answering questions at your house with your parents because the faster response and better answer you have will make you look ALOT better

Job Interview Questions: How do I go on a job interview if I work from 8 to 5 full time?

I just got my first full-time job but it pays really lousy. I work full-time 8 to 5 pm. I'm applying for my dream job which will be much higher in pay. So what do I do when they call to set up an interview? Do I explain that I am working full time? Could I make it on a Saturday or is that a big no-no?

What should I do?

Tips to a Job Interview Presentation to Impress Your Hiring Manager

Recommended Answer:
You will need to take a day off from work in order to go to the interview. Ask for a personal day if you don't have any vacation days, or ask to leave early and make it up the next day.

Job Interview Help - Some Things That Might Help You Ace Your Job Interview

  • When you're called for an interview let them know that you are still working and find out if they have any availability to meet with you during your lunch break. If it's not close to your work for you to meet during your lunch break then see if you can arrange for a time before you go into work or first thing in the morning so you can go before work.

You may have to make an excuse with your current job and let them know that you're not feeling well on the day you have your interview. If you're current job doesn't ask for a doctor's note then you can say you have a dentist or doctor's appointment.

Just keep it professional with the new company you'll be interviewing for and ask them their availability. If their business is open on the weekends then it might be fine but most companies won't interview over the weekend so you shouldn't ask that if you already know that their business isn't open.

Don't divulge too much info. with the company you want to work for about how you got out of work at your current job and never bring it up in the interview. They don't ask so don't offer up the info.

If you feel like you have a chance to get this new position then just call out sick.

Good luck! I hope you get your dream job! :)

  • When they ring, ask for a saturday interview, if they offer them. Most people don't.

Otherwise, explaining to the interviewer that you work full time won't help you with the interview.

What I would is ask for a Saturday, if that is not available, then make a time for the interview and arrange to take some time off from work.

Call in sick, if necessary.. everybody does it.
    Good luck
    *s*

  • Perhaps by the time an interview is scheduled, a good reputation on your present job should allow time enough to make the appointment. Your present employer need not know the reason for the time off request unless it is required. Meanwhile, a promotion where you are is an option. Dream jobs are out there, but the bills keep coming...

  • Fill out a leave of absence sheet. As a working adult also applying for jobs, you MUST go to this interview. Get out of work early and go to an interview in the early afternoon. You'd only miss a few hours of work so it won't hurt ur already low pay. Go for it! Good luck

  • You just have to lie a little. That's what I'd do. Or take half day off. I'd tell them that I need more time after lunch so that I can go to the bank and that I'd be back as soon as I can. Stuff like that.

  • Say you have a doctor's appointment. You don't have to miss a whole day of work.

  • ah ah ah---chooooo!

    don't you feel fluish?

    call in sick...

Job Interview Questions: Job Interview: "What would you consider to be your greatest weakness?"?

What would you say in a job interview when the potential employer asks, "What would you consider to be your greatest weakness?"

Mistakes to Avoid When Answering Tricky Job Interview Questions

Recommended Answer:
ok... so the question is basically loaded. you should never say "I don't have any" it's like saying "I have no humility". I would say "do you mean what am I trying to improve?" "well I noticed I am sometimes too hard on myself" or "I am trying to improve my listening skills. I want to be a better listener" whatever... "greatest weakness" is a question to test your ability to self analyze.

The 11 Cardinal Mistakes of Job Interviews

  • I agree with laurie

I would add, it is helpful for any answer to this question be your lack of control of your desire to work hard, uncontrollable desire for the company to succeed which means you succeed, and etc.. in your words about your character..

  • i would say fear of letting the company or whatever job i'm applying for down.. which i won't btw.....
    or will I??? *wink*
    lol xD

  • "That I don't ever want to work somewhere where they still ask this pointless question during an interview."

  • Say youre a perfectionist :D :D :D
    amazing isnt it

Job Interview Questions: What is a Hollister Job interview like?

What to Say in a Job Interview

Recommended Answer:
Show them you have the energy and people skills it will take to do the job. Be prepared to work nights, week-ends and holidays and be a little early for the interview. Be neat and clean, no excess jewelry or nail polish. You should look as ordinary as possible. It's not about you, it's about being able to work as a team player, follow instructions and give great customer service.

Job Interview Questions: What are questions you've been asked in a job interview?

I'm going in for my first job interview in a few days and I'm just a bit nervous. What are some questions you've been asked in a job interview? What are some less common ones you've been asked?

Why Being Interviewed First Can Mean "Last" in a Job Interview

    Recommended Answer:
There are too many websites that has answers for interview questions. One word of advice, do NOT read and memorize them. It will let you down in your interview.
The most difficult question in any interview is "Tell me about yourself" or "Describe yourself". You really need to have an answer that will fetch you a job that you want. Think about this. This is where you will present your qualifications, your strengths and may be a couple weakness (that should be in your favor). Other than that, interview for freshers are not that difficult. Just be yourself and be confident. Think this way, they are not going to execute you if you answer anything wrong, so be polite, honest and do a good interview. Show a little charm in the interview, interviewers like it. Wish you goodluck, if possible, give us the good news on your recruitment.

Job Interview Questions: What should I wear to a job interview at Palm Beach tanning salon?

I have a job interview today and need some suggestions on what would be appropriate to wear. Its a casual job at a tanning salon so I don't want to overdress or look bad and underdress. I appreciate everyones help, 10 points for best answer!! Thanks

    Job Interview Techniques

    Recommended Answer:
No matter what the job, you want to make sure you look presentable. Do you have a pair of black dress pants? If you pair the pants with just about anything, you will be fine. If you just have a plain t-shirt, that would work. If you want to go a bit dressier, find a button up blouse.
You can't really overdress for an interview unless you wear a suit and tie for a job like a tanning salon. They will want to see that you care enough about the interview to dress nice. Stay away from jeans (including jean skirts) and anything with holes in it. Make sure your butt crack or cleavage are not showing no matter what you wear.
Good luck on your interview! Smile and be honest. :)

Job Interview Tips to Help You Wow Your Interviewers and Land the Job

    • I would see who works there and then dress as close to there style as possible, youll then appear as though you already fit in,might increase your chances in the interview.Unless of course there strutting about in bikini's or uniforms,i dont know if salons have a uniform which obviously you wont have. For instance if they say wore a white nurses type uniform, you could then mirror this with a white dress.
      Good Luck

    • I think you should go in some skinny jeans with a t-shirt and jacket. it's very casual and it's not over or underdressing.

    • i think you should go dressed as a pirate..eye patch, parrot, etc the whole set-up.
